My favorite piercing/tattoo parlor I've walked into ever. (in Dallas) I'm going to add to the heap of reviews praising jade here because they freaking deserves it! Not only did I feel so completely comfortable getting pierced by them, but they made such fun and engaging conversation as well. Also, the other staff who were busy with customers were very sweet as well! Just good vibes all around. After my piercing they let me know shaman was one of Dallas's more expensive piercing parlors but I'd happily pay $100 again for the eyebrow piercing I got done. It was done perfectly and a month later it is still going strong. I've had no issues with it and hadn't healed a piercing before using their LITHA method but it's worked better than what I've done in the past so far. Mostly I don't feel any discomfort with the piercing during the day, a couple times it bled after getting whacked but the pain never lingered. You get what you pay for here. I decided to see if my anatomy would allow for a vertical labret piercing. My friend and I went to Shaman at her recommendation. Wow. This place is spotless and beautiful. They have Covid measures in place, have you wash your hands immediately upon entering, and only allow +1 with the person being pierced. The jewelry selection is fantastic! Annie (piercer) helped me choose the right jewelry for me. She was super careful to measure and mark to get everything perfectly vertical. I...hate having to make this review. Let me start off with the positives: the place is sanitary, the jewelry is high quality, and I have confidence in the piercings that they regularly put out. But, my nipple piercings were botched. It took me almost a full year to come to terms with it. Got them pierced in June of last year for my bday. They seemed to be healing okay, although I took a lot longer than I should have to downsize them due to social anxiety. I want to preface this by saying that I know the risks that come with not properly downsizing your jewelry: migration, rejection, snagging. Those were NOT the causes of my issues. The piercing experience itself was wonderful. My piercer (Annie, I believe) was wonderfully patient and calm and willing to explain the process, as well as pause for me to collect myself. This means a lot during such an intimate piercing. But sadly that is where the issues began. There is a lot of back and forth around the appropriateness of handling the tissue to harden it before piercing, and I do want to state that no piercer should advise that they have to fondle or pinch you in order to pierce it. That being said, my nipples were not FULLY erect when pierced. Idk how to phrase it but they were like "halfway there" not "it's cold outside oh my god I should have worn a bra" stiff. Again, maybe on other peoples anatomy that doesn't matter as much but on mine it did for two reasons: my right nipple was slightly inverted, and my left bunched up slightly more on one side unless fully stiff. She pierced me, and told me to come back in a couple of months to check in on downsizing them. When I came in, I had already noticed that when fully stiff, my left piercing was at almost a 20degree angle upwards, while the left side of the hole correctly began at the base. I advised Annie of this, and she stated that some people's tissue stiffens unevenly, which is true and I've seen at slight angles. This, though, was way to severe of an angle and the right side had a very thin amount of tissue over it due to the angle. I was in denial though, and so I just took her information at face value. My right side, I then noticed that night, looked like it was pierced through the middle of the nipple, rather than at the base. That is a HUGE issue in nipple piercings. A shallow piercing can lead to rejection, and makes it way easier to catch and tear it on things. Again, I thought that Maybe I was being crazy, and decided to just bring it up at my downsizing appointment. I didn't come back in for almost 5 months. It's important to state again that during that time I did not have any incidents that might have caused the issues I was seeing, and that I noted both issues within a month of getting the initial piercings. I came back in to get my jewelry downsized just last month, and decided to just bring up my concerns once again with her. She had an apprentice with her, and I believed that I could possibly get a more in depth understanding of what might be causing the issues or if I should take them out for re-piercing. I was told it was fine and that they looked good, and the jewelry was changed out quickly and I was sent on my way. I should NOT have been downsized without them noting or commenting on the angle and shallowness of the piercings. They were very apparent. But again, this was a really painful piercing to get. I was in denial and REALLY wanted it to work. But finally, I decided I at least should get a second opinion. So I reached out to not one, but two separate APP-registered piercers for their input. I was told that the angles and depth were completely off and that my right one was severely at risk of migration. That my only options were to remove them and re-pierce in 3-4 months. I was DEVASTATED. had I been informed of this earlier, it would have saved me the process of carefully attempting to heal them for the better part of a year. I really wish that they had been honest in seriously checking up on the angles and depth. ESPECIALLY on the shallowness of my right nipple, which was egregious. I can't post pictures so I included a drawing of each piercing and what it looked like. I'm almost $300 in with the piercing fees, jewelry and downsized jewelry, and so angry at myself for not noticing the issues earlier and being more honest about my need to re-pierce them. I can understand not having accounted for my specific anatomy on my left side at the time of piercing, but she should have noticed at my follow ups. I believe that 99.99% of the piercings this shop puts out are EXEMPLARY. But should they not be, it should be up to the piercer to make the recommendation to re-pierce. Mistakes happen. The issues with this shop are NOT the price point (which is appropriate for the quality of the jewelry). Just wanted to clarify that many of the negative reviews are not for subjective issues. It's a bit pricey. It ended up being $80 something all together. That included the piercing, and the $33 plus jewelry we picked out. This place was very clean, and the staff were very knowledgeable. After a search on Instagram and Google, I came across this studio and I wish I had known about them sooner. I dropped by on a Sunday afternoon and was quickly greeted and signed in. The ambiance of the studio is extremely dope with a clean, modern aesthetic. They do not take appointments, but they do take walk-ins throughout the day on a "first come, first served" basis. Also note that this is strictly a piercing studio but they do have tattoo artists at their Austin location. When I arrived, there were two people ahead of me but my wait wasn't long at all. While I waited I was able to take my time and browse the massive jewelry selection. My right lobe piercing NEVER healed. It is infected with a cyst that I've been fighting with for over 5 years. My left lobe piercing healed just fine but I'm fairly certain my right lobe wasn't pierced correctly, and the after care instructions were not right. I was told to never clean them but let the piercings dry heal. "Cup your hands over your ears while showering to prevent the ears from getting wet" was what I was told so I did. The lobes got extremely infected (filled with puss and oozing and inflamed) and I finally resorted to a gentle cleaning agent and only then did the piercings heal, except for the right lobe and the cartilage. The cartilage has permanent scarring. Incredibly frustrating since I shelled out over $200 for the piercings. And now since the cyst hasn't gone away, I'm looking at having to get it surgically removed, which will cost me a lot of money. This shouldn't have happened if the piercing was done correctly and aftercare instruction ACCURATE AND CORRECT! read more

I went to this place because of all the good reviews. I wanted to like this place but my experience was far from it. I went in on Sunday with my boyfriend to get my nipples pierced. I was originally helped out by this nice girl but she had to pass me on to Drea to do an anatomy check because she had people she was going to pierce already. Drea asked for my ID and looked at it and threw it on the counter where the square checkout was and walked me back. She didn't even cover my ID or had any sense to tuck it away herself. The rooms are remarkably clean, automatic soap, sink, and paper towel dispenser. She asked me to lift up my shirt and check my nipples. She looked and automatically said no, then she proceeded to try to give it a pinch and just said no it's not possible. I was so bummed, I thought she was giving me her honest professional opinion but she proceeded to tell me that my nipples are not pierceable and whoever else that does it is just doing it for the money and not looking out of my well being. I went home and did even more research then I have and found that even guys with even smaller nipples than mine still got it pierced. I looked for a second opinion that same day and got them pierced and even the piercer couldn't believe what I was told. Drea was just on her lunch break and was "finishing up a slice of pizza" so I'm not sure if we just caught her in a bad time and she just wanted to get back to eating or she just point blank didn't want to pierce me.
