I took my co workers daughter here for an eyebrow piercing on her 18th bday. She had been here before for an industrial and liked it so we returned. Filled out the standard paperwork. The place is fun & interesting to look at. Waiting area is nice. Public restrooms. The piercer was thorough in explaining everything and he seemed pretty relaxed. Until it was time to pierce. Walked in on a random Tuesday to check it out. Found a design they had drawn up and got booked for the next day with Spencer. Could've got tatted on the spot but had plans to swim the next morning so they cautioned me to not swim with fresh tattoo. That's a plus in my book looking out for their potential customers as I wasn't even scheduled yet. Anyway, came in the next day and Spencer was setting up getting ready to get going. Was definitely a great experience as he did not have a heavy hand and was a dope artist. He also pierced my wife's nose and it went great. I've gotten three tattoos here, and it's been a bit over a year since my most recent one, and all of them have healed very well. The staff was nice, and the vibe in the lobby was nice and relaxed. My friend and I came in together once, and we were the only people inside, and they seemingly changed the playlist to suit our vibes better haha. The individuals at the front desk are some of the nicest I've encountered at tattoo shops, and the artists very obviously know what they're doing. They are quick, clean, precise and skilled. I was dining at Vidorra next door but there was about a 45 minute wait, so this was enough time for a tattoo. It was a quiet morning and the girl at the front was welcoming & attentive. Spencer was great! Super kind and patient. I have a good amount of piercings on both ears and he was really helpful with making suggestions on where to get pierced next. He has a very calming demeanor which was so helpful in a piercing situation! The piercing process was very clean and sterilized throughly. He asked about how familiar we were with aftercare and we confirmed we were set! My only comment on "downside" was lack of jewelry options... no gold. I got the webbing underneath my tongue pierced by Tim. Followed cleaning directions. The metal they gave me was obviously too small even after swelling. Half of it is inside my tongue. I called and iced it (again) like they advised. I then called again be still, it's halfway into my tongue. I called and said they can take it out, but that's it. I asked if I'll have to pay again to get a different jewelry put in. They said yes, I have to repay the $80. Absolutely fuming at this point. Today I went to another piercing shop and they offered to fix it right away because that is NOT normal. They said the piercing was done incorrectly. My friend also got ear piercings there, and she said it's hurting worse than any piercings she's ever had-also by Tim. All in all, I feel scammed, and I feel like they do not care at all about their customers. read more

Do not get pierced here! My partner in Dallas went in to have her septum pierced, and it was an unprofessional, awful, botched experience. She was new to piercing and didn't know that everything they were doing was wrong and irresponsible. She had to go to Shaman Modifications across town, where they confirmed that the piercing was botched, and took out the jewelry. They never showed her the jewelry before the piercing, were completely apathetic the entire time, and didn't even provide aftercare instructions! Piercing is a practice that should only be performed by those who are passionate and competent, and the piercer at Taboo Tattoo was neither. They may have good tattoo artists, but save yourself a terrible experience and go somewhere else for piercings and mods. (Apparently Shaman Modifications was a great place.) read more

So when the random pointed us down from Lucky's to here, I was a little apprehensive, but the moment we walked in, it was a totally different experience. The walls had tattoo art on them, there were people actually doing something than looking at Youtube at the front desk, and the staff was actually pretty helpful and patient as we asked about pricing. Tim was the guy to pierce my friend that night and he was the coolest, funniest guy ever! He also helped me with an issue I was having with my now 11 year old belly piercing and gave me some helpful info as well as changed the bell out for me. RELIEF was an understatement....stupid mall kiosk 2 for 20 mall jewelry. It was clean and had an old time feel with lots of old tattoo artwork on the walls. When it came time for the appointment I went with Biggs. He was awesome! Clean shop, awesome location, great staff!! I passed by, one day, and asked the piercer, who goes by Pickles, and asked him if he could switch out my nose stud with a ring/hoop, since my original piercer (from another shop we won't name) used a threader (and it was awful).. Pickles measured my nose and told me his were a bit too small/big for my nose - I don't really remember which, but I told him I had some at home I could bring and he was down for that..and when I came back the following week, he remembered me!! He made it easy, and also because of how easy it was to trust him (he was clean, quick, and to the point) and seeing he was really knowledgeable (in other words, he knew what he was doing), I asked for a couple more: my tragus and another cartilage..which he was down for, also.. he marked me, giving me options, and he was encouraging and he makes you laugh and relax, the whole time.. He even tightened my captive rings, and made sure the beads weren't going anywhere.. I can't wait to heal a bit and go back for an industrial, daith, rook, and more!! Prices are outrageous here. Had my tragus pierced 7 years ago. Ring fell out a couple of months ago. I told them it was not that it needed to be repierced but that I needed help putting the hopp in there and bought a new one. Charged $40 for the ring and for the guy who spent 30sec putting the ring in. What. A. Joke. Would not recommend. Also, they told me they only took cash or money order, but when I said I only had my credit card on me, suddenly they were able to accept that. Won't be back for tatts or piercings. read more

I was traveling to visit a friend for memorial weekend and told her I wanted to get my next tattoo. She was adamant about me not getting a tattoo in Dallas because she has yet to see good work on anyone during the 8 year she has lived there. I went on Yelp and found Taboo Tattoo and read most of the reviews and figured I would give this place a try. The reviews I read spoke highly of Tim. I reached out to Tim sent pictures and explained to him what I wanted and he told me to come in the shop when I was in told and he have availability. I walked into the shop around 4:00 pm on Saturday and the shop was very clean and the two men in the front were very welcoming. They were very helpful and Tim started working on my Tattoo drawing right away. He understood exactly what I wanted and took the time to make it just right. Tim talked to me about colors, blends of colors that I wanted and what he would suggest I do. He started on my tattoo and before I knew it he was done and It was better then I could have imagined. I can't find one flaw in my tattoo. Tim talk during the tattoo and was very friendly and open. I would recommend this shop to anyone in town or out of town to get work done. My friend and I were in Dallas and wanting piercings and the reviews on this place were great so we thought we would give it a shot. I got a simple nostril piercing and my friend got a cartilage piercing and both got infected within the first two days of us having them despite us following the care instructions given to us. My piercing bled for weeks after getting pierced and didn't finally heal until a month later. My friend also had issues with her piercing and come to find out the jewelry hat was used on hers was put in backwards and not secured correctly. Not to mention the man that gave us these piercings was very rough while piercing us. I will never be returning here again and I advise finding somewhere else to get a piercing. read more

ARRRRGH....I can not BELIEVE how different my second experience was compared to the first. I should have known something was up when the guy who mans the front desk said they had all just literally arrived back in town from New Orleans. I was anxious to discuss having the custom pin up of my mom done, but the whole attitude in the shop was Blah. I felt like one of those adults in a Charlie Brown cartoon...wah, wah, wah, waaaaah....and not one person was really listening to me. I should have left then.......but nooooooo....... After looking at Flex's initial draft of the design, I gave it the heave ho as it was very flat and seemed to have no depth. I had an alternative design ready, which really only required someone to follow the lines. The original drawing was of a Mexican girl with the Mexican flag draped around her shoulders. Very basic but classy. Unfortunately that was not what I got. Flex was definitely not up to his A game. The finished product was nice...from the neck down. I understand that tattoos are dicey...it's not like a cold meal that can be heated up or getting an item free because your waiter was rude. You rolls the dice, yous takes yous chances. But to not even acknowledge my unhappiness with the design and insist on full payment was the kicker. Taboo Tattoo is now on MY taboo list. read more
