I came in September 19, 2022 with no distinct plan. I had emailed back and forth online for booking (mind you I wasn't even in contact with Jay) and we came to an agreement for a time and date and standard ($100) deposit which is reasonable. In the email they didn't even give me an estimate for a half/full sleeve so I should've seen the first red flag. I get there and finally meet Jay and I speak to her about my idea and what I want but for the most part give her creative freedom. She leaves and comes back with an idea which I love, did the placement and we start. All is well, no talk about payment yet (I should've brought it up at this point but it was my first big piece and I wasn't sure how to go about it or wanted her to feel disrespected about my budget) An hour or so in I'm suffering (my fault for not preparing) and she notices and gives me brakes but somewhere in between is when she finally asks about money. She asks "what's your budget?" As if it matters now that the stencil and ink is on me now. I tell her naively "6-700" at this point I don't think much of it she just nods her head. Towards the end of the session I needed a minute, we're not even done. I'm walking up to the register and I ask "So how much will it be with how far we got in this session" she looked at me the then the receptionist and just goes "700" I look at her kind of shocked but I'm tired so I don't say anything. As time went by and I got more in the scene and inked more I realized she calculated when to ask me and what to ask me. I was wearing shorts and a t shirt so she knew I wasn't inked up and it was my first time. I felt taken advantage of for being new in the community and not having much knowledge. I have multiple tattoos now and four years later this is the worst experience I've ever had. I finally have the courage to speak up about it. read more

Horrible service. Horrible craftsmanship. Ridiculous pricing. To start with, I arrived 10 minutes early to my appointment. After waiting a full hour and a half I finally saw my artist, the owner, Linda, milling about the studio. I had sent my reference photos maybe 4 months prior and she had informed me that she still hadn't prepared my design. So I waited about 45 minutes longer for her to not only charge her design tablet, but also to finally get going on creating the design. The tattoo outline was fine, but when it came to the shading, EVERYTHING WAS GRAY. Any intro to art student could probably create better contrast and actually SHADE the tattoo instead of coloring it the same dull color. Moreover, Linda had even been so sloppy as to get stippling OUTSIDE of the image border. Literally can't color in the lines. I was very friendly and honest about my feelings about the tattoo once it healed (didn't look any better), and hoped I could receive a touch up in the shading or even a cover up considering I shelled out $650 plus a $140 tip for a measly 2" x 4" tattoo. I was informed that the artist "stands by her work" despite the fact that every tattoo artist and tattoo aficionado I consulted agreed that it was shoddy craftsmanship, sloppy work. They did offer a useless consultation with Linda, who sees nothing wrong with her work, but no refunds or even partial refunds for any mistakes these artists will permanently make on your body. DO NOT even THINK about visiting this place if you have any self respect. Unless you want to waste your money to look ugly. Then immediately waste some more money to try to salvage what's now permanently on your body. I attached a picture of the tattoo as well as my reference for you to make your judgement yourself. If you choose to go here, be aware that their prices are high and they will not tell you the actual price unless you ASK right before they start tattooing you. I've had many tattoos done and I have never had anyone LIE to me about the price of a tattoo. (They're going to say "we don't give pricing ahead of time" but unfortunately with me they did and they failed to keep true to it or explain to me the suggestions that THEY MADE, would cost me more.) Here's my experience with Koneko Studio: I sent a tattoo inquiry from their website. They immediately replied back asking for pictures and asking to pay a deposit. I replied sending photos of what I wanted and I also asked for an estimate. I didn't feel good about paying for a deposit without knowing an estimate for the tattoo. They did not reply back but they did send another email booking the appointment which I thought was weird since I didn't pay the deposit. I sent 2 emails after that asking again. They finally called me and told me that the estimate would be $800-$900. After that I was resent the email to pay the deposit and I paid it. Day of the appt I came in and Addie came up me with 3 different stencils. Since my inquiry said large 6-9 inches I chose the large one that matched the photos I sent. None of the photos I sent were small. I said I liked it and she went back saying she would get things ready. She then came back up to me with a larger stencil and asked if I liked that one better. (I did not ask for a bigger stencil, she herself suggested one). I did like the bigger one better so I chose that one. She asked me more about how I wanted it done and I referenced the photos that I sent and said I wanted exactly what I had sent. During the tattoo process itself, everything went perfect. Addie was great to talk to. She was funny and nice. She took a breaks and sprayed my arm with numbing spray which made finishing my tattoo up easy. At the end when I paid for my tattoo she asked if I paid the $150 deposit. I said yes and she did some things on her phone and put the final price for me to pay. She charged me $1250. I felt uncomfortable but I paid it because I am just very awkward, shy, and non confrontational. I also felt very conflicted because I loved my tattoo and I didn't want to question her work and make her feel like her art wasn't deserving of that price. Today I decided to look at their tattoo reviews. A lot of people had the same complaints saying they won't give you a set price and that they charge a lot for their tattoos. Their responses to people's complaints were awful. After reading so many reviews complaining about the same thing I felt justified in my feelings. I then decided to email them and explain to them that I was really upset that my tattoo was $500 more than what I was told. (I attached photos of the convo. Pink highlight pages are me. Yellow is the studio.) They then deflected as much as they could and put the blame on me for not talking to them about my strict budget that I had and that they don't do set prices and that it's hard to give estimates. But the fact is that they DID give me an estimate. I went off of the budget that THEY gave me. They then tried to say that I got a bigger size than what I had originally asked for, which was not my fault. I did not ask for my piece to be bigger. The artist herself came up to me with a bigger stencil and then failed to tell me, "hey just so you know since this stencil is bigger, we are going to charge you $500 more". They also said I asked for more shading, which I did not. I showed Addie the shading in the photo I sent in my tattoo inquiry. It wasn't new information. I just pointed out that what I sent to them originally is what I wanted my tattoo to look like. What was even more ridiculous was that while I was looking at the reviews, I saw a review complaining about the prices and they had replied back saying that THEY and NO ARTIST EVER bases prices on coloring or SHADING. So to me I thought it was weird they used that as an argument to increase their price. I did tell them this as well which of course they ignored because they cannot admit they fucked up. In the end they gave a shit apology and didn't offer a solution. They have yet to say, "we messed up." As much as I love Addy's work, I won't go back. I still rate them 2 stars because their art is great. I love my tattoo. I just wish I was told that the suggestion that she made for me would cost me more. Again, never have I ever in the past 8 years that I have gotten tattoos, have I ever had a quote jump up $500 or have been lied to about a tattoo quote. This is also not my first larger tattoo or even the largest tattoo that I have. (It is the most expensive though). So in the end, if you do go here, just be aware they do not give you good price estimates, and they will blindside you with the price. They do charge A LOT (like a lot a lot), but in all honestly they do great art work there. read more

After going here a few times for tattoos and shopping I'm disappointed in the service here. You get a very fake feeling from the staff. You don't feel warm or invited, even when corresponding via email. This is a very interesting studio and it's not your typical tattoo shop experience. This may be for some people but it's not for me. I found everything including tattoo rates to be pretty high for rather newer artist with less experience. Most of the great artists tend to leave and tattoo elsewhere. They have a high turnover rate it seems. I really want to love this shop because #girlpower but I just don't. My rating is solely on the experience and customer service. As far as cleanliness and sanitary precautions they do great and you don't at all get a sketchy my--skin-might-fall-off feeling. For the plants alone I give 10 stars though. read more

It's a huge red flag when you ask how they charge and they won't give you an answer. I got a very simple tattoo. I was there for 2.5 hours that included the time to creation the stencil, and it cost me $900. If I was paying by the hour, that would come out to $360 an hour. Booked my app out with Linda a few months in advance and was given a date and time. I got to the appointment on time and waited a little over 2 hours to be seen by Linda, by which time we (her team and I) had talked thru price range/size and design. Linda was super professional and quick; and her apprentice Anna was a delight to talk to while tiny needles were stabbing me profusely. The price was higher then other places I have been but no more then what I was expecting AND definitely worth it. When you get a piece from Linda you are paying for a piece that's recognizable as hers, time and experience in the field. It's a piece of artwork and you should treat it as such. An arts value is based on what the artist deems it to be. If you aren't willing to pay for it that's fine but it's not your place to deem how much an artist should charge. Eh. Came in for a walk-in to pierce my partner's daith. The staff was friendly and the wait wasn't bad (about 30 minutes for a Saturday afternoon). Lots of seating and snacks for us. The actual shop was cute. The apprentice, Isis, was very nice and sanitized/prepared my girlfriend's ear before the actual piercer came in. Linda, the piercer, came in for about 5 minutes to do the the actual piercing but did not introduce herself. She was teaching the apprentice while doing the piercing which was totally fine. The daith is fine, but during the piercing, my gf had to lay on her side. The blood that came after the pierce filled her entire ear canal and dripped down the ear. We wished that they had put some cotton or something inside to absorb the blood prior to it. After-care instructions were relatively vague. They told us just to dry heal it. I think it'd be a better experience if the staff took a little more time to get to know their clients, even a little for piercings. The shop was not that busy from my understanding. Also, the prices for jewelry are a bit much, even for plain titanium steel. There was a cute dog tho. read more

Came here about two years ago for a tattoo that was supposed to be a dream catcher on my arm. I was very disappointed on how it came out based on that this was a high end tattoo studio and the fact that I paid $800. The lines were completely wobbly and done horribly( shown in picture) I'm genuinely embarrassed to show people this tattoo. Linda the owner was the one to tattoo me and I got good vibes from her in the beginning but once I sat on the chair I felt like she was very rushed with my tattoo. I had two appointments scheduled for this tattoo because it was a big piece and she finished it in one knowing I had two. Since this was my first tattoo I was hoping for a good experience but it was completely awful. During the healing process I got terrible bruises (blow out) on my arm from her going too deep, and the wrap that was placed on the tattoo was placed horribly. I went in early June to get my rook piercing done as a walk-in. The staff was all very friendly and the studio was very open and clean. I signed the papers and waited for the piercer, Masimo, to get everything prepared. I laid down to get my rook done and was pierced. I'm not sure what was wrong with the first piercing but he took the needle out and then pierced me a second time. After he put in the jewelry he had me look at it; it was pierced so shallow that I could see the jewelry through my skin. He offered to do it a third time for better placement which I agreed to so I was pierced three times in the same area. The piercing service was $50 then on top of that I had to pay another $20-$30 for the jewelry. I only received verbal aftercare instructions from the piercer and I was told to only wash it w a mild soapy water + cutip. A saline soak was never mentioned even though after researching and asking other piercers, that is what they all recommended to clean. The second hole that was pierced almost became a tear bc of how shallow it was and all the swelling since my rook area went through a lot of trauma but has been healing well thankfully. It's been a little over two weeks now and my rook has been healing well thanks to frequent saline soaks. The swelling has gone down but now I'm able to properly see that my piercing wasn't done straight and is at an angle. I'll more than likely take it out and try again with a reputable piercer. read more

I wanted to love this place so bad. It's my own fault for not deep diving into yelp.... Instagram is not the only source. They tattoo by the number. You are just skin to paint on. That's how I felt. Or any of the emails. My appointment also changed 2 days before knowing I'm from out of town without even calling or texting to ask if that day would be okay. "Did your availability change?" Well I'm not just available a month after I booked the appointment. I didn't know I had to stay open and flexible for you to go on vacation. He gets there and he just stares at me. I'm like hi did you have something drawn? Considering I sent pictures and explicit details. He said oh did you want me to draw something for you? I'm confused at this point. He let me know he doesn't actually ever reads the emails it's stupid just tell me what you want now. Well what's the point of the application and detailed email? I showed him pictures. Makes something similar and cool but not convinced. He's like you should love it. I'm like you're right. I do it anyway. $750+tip and 3 months later I'm still not convinced and see many others have the same experience. The shop idea is amazing and unique. The place is aesthetically beautiful and very clean. Very cool outfits and items for sale. The tattoo atmosphere is like no other, and not in a good way. Find a more friendly tattoo shop. I went to another shop after school because this one was closed and he said that it would've gone through my lip because there was zero room for swelling. I called the store asking fir a refund and I understood that they don't have a refund policy. The way that I was spoken to on the phone really does not sit well with me at all. They talked to me like I didn't know what I was talking about and said that I "should've known better" because they let me look at it before I left. The swelling had not set in before I left so i believed that it was 100% fine. I had painful complications for over a year and was continuously told by them to keep waiting and that it would heal. We stopped here to get my niece's ears pierced (she's 10) and good lawd - she was a giant baby and we were there for an hour! The piercer (Massimo?) was SUPER patient with her and with us (two parents and an aunt, quite the crew). He did an awesome job, no blood, no tears, perfect holes that will heal in 3 weeks (no Claire's piercing gun here!). The shop is really cool with eclectic tees, plants, artwork, and little kitschy things plus a nice lounge area for waiting. I felt really bad that we held him up for so long and she was such a baby about it but she finally relented and was very happy with her piercings. This place literally could not move slower. The supply of snacks doesn't replace the life force that was stolen from me while waiting for jewelry to be changed. Was told to wait an hour, it was over 3. OVER THREE HOURS. The piercing staff disappeared for long periods, I dont know if she was watching YouTube videos on how to do her job, or just using the bathroom. Literally worried about restaurants closing because I've been waiting for a simple jewelry change. I had three friends get piercings that evening as well. While the staff were defending their 3 hour of time waste- we had to pry any semblance of ownership from their lead piercer. She stated that they were busy and for this reason they had 2 piercers in the studio- this is unreal to me. We had been pacing the lobby for the entire three hours, I know the exact number of clients that were ahead of us, 2. Not a whiff of an additional piercer available. The lying to cover their tail was ridiculous. While they were still defending their position, the head piercer let us know that they offer a "different experience" which is why it took so long...that different experience BTW, included NO AFTERCARE for ANY of the four clients, three of whom were pierced with cartilage piercings. Yeah, thats a different experience alright, an experience that's medically irresponsible. As we walked out I heard the front desk attendant inform the piercer that someone had returned with an infected septum piercing that she needed evaluating. Maybe she also had no aftercare and questionable sterile process. My group of friends include 4 physicians, we all run behind, we all have to apologize to patients, but none of us practice an abject "not my fault" attitude. If you mess up, own it. We had to give professionalism advice to their lead piercer, who again, only after getting schooled by all of us, decided to apologize for wasting our time. Truly never coming back. They had so many different options when it came to jewelry. I ended up getting a white gold heart for my nose. It's so cute! I've only gotten a piercing with super basic tattoo shop jewelry, so this was a treat!! I need to go back and get some earrings, because the options were amazing. It's been hard for me to bite my tongue and not leave this review. I went with my partner to get her tattoo recently and was completely disappointed for a few reasons. I was bummed because I had been eyeing Bri's work for quite some time and was looking forward to getting tattooed here but after this experience, hard for me to want to come back for my own. One - we showed up and she did not even introduce herself. I have been tattooed plenty of times and I have never experienced such bad etiquette when it comes to customer service. If you like to tattoo in silence, totally fine with me but when someone is coming in to get a tattoo and the artist or the person at the front (both were sitting there)can't even say hi or introduce themselves when you walk in the door sure doesn't make me want to pay them to tattoo me. Also, they don't disclose pricing. I read a few other reviews that customers should inquire but I've never been in a situation where an artist doesn't tell me the price or a ballpark price of what it could cost. My partner got a tattoo that took maybe 15 minutes at most and is about a 2x2 or smaller, outline work with a tiny tiny bit of color and she paid close to $300 after tip. Never have I ever paid so much for such a small tattoo and I have been tattooed at some great great shops, shops that charge for time, shops that charge by size. Etc. Really disappointing experience. The talent is there but the customer service is not and it's very unfortunate. read more
