This is my second exfoliating facial with Francesca and my second type of service at Koneko. So if you're wondering about either of these services, read on! KJ (Katelyn) is a master when it comes to volume lashes and making them fluffy, not clumpy! She's a licensed lash tech, which means she's educated in not just lashes, but how to properly care for them and how to be extremely thorough when it comes to educating her clients. I loved her company and most importantly, her service/execution of what suited my eye style the best was always on her mind. KJ is my lash girl and I plan to return to only her for any future appointments as well as referrals. Francesca is my dream esthetician. During my first visit, we talked about my skin concerns and what we would be able to achieve for my first facial ever! The whole experience was so soothing and relaxing, from her space, to the service itself, and all of the products she used have only IMPROVED my skin! Switching to all vegan and cruelty-free products has made my no-makeup routine basically nonexistent. My favorite things during my facial are the massages on my face as she's applying products and cleansing and when she's massaging my arms and shoulders while my mask is on. I am extremely disappointed to write this review, as I chose Koneko to support a woman-owned business and genuinely loved Linda's work after researching artists. Koneko is incredibly unprofessional, difficult to work with, and does not respond to clients. Another reason I chose Koneko was because it seemed like a departure from the traditional "boys club" tattoo studio, AKA, more approachable, more inviting, and less intimidating. While the shop "space" seems to accomplish that, the experience was somehow less approachable, less inviting, and more intimidating. I wasn't sure how that was possible. I was completely shocked, as it became immediately clear that the staff, and Linda especially, placed little to no value at all on the customer experience in their shop. I have two experiences with Koneko. The first is a tattoo I got from Linda back in January 2021. I booked this appointment well in advance, with little communication on pricing, availability, etc. In fact, Millie, the person who books the appointments, does not give you an opportunity to specify when you are unavailable for an appointment. Rather, she will schedule you, and expect you to work around that scheduled time (which is often during the week, during work hours). Once I arrived to the appointment, I was not greeted by Linda, and in fact, was ignored by the front desk. Once I was finally able to speak with the front desk, they sent Linda's apprentice to discuss pricing, design, etc. I had to explain to the apprentice what I was looking for. Again, I didn't actually SPEAK to the person who would be tattooing me until she sat down. I was then told that Linda would draw up the design. I watched her design the tattoo in a short time frame, and then walk to the side by the bathroom. I saw her colleagues bringing in food, I saw her grabbing clothes and mannequins, all while waiting on the design. This process took about an hour and a half. Her apprentice then came out, asked for approval, I said that I liked it and the apprentice then proceeded to prepare the area for the tattoo. Once Linda decided to appear, she did not introduce herself, did not ask anything about me, and even during the tattoo, asked a very insensitive question, "what is the big deal with these rock things anyways?" While tattooing a cairn on the back of my arm, it was clear that she hadn't taken the time to understand what it was she was even tattooing. Further, Linda and her colleagues talked around me, while tattooing me, with no effort to include me in the conversation, and even ignored anything I tried to say. The tattoo process took about an hour, and the price was extremely high, which I am willing to pay for good work. I am not willing, however, to be treated so poorly and even went home after the experience crying, regretting going to Koneko and Linda in the first place. After a lot of time, I decided to build around the piece that Linda tattooed. I chose to re-book as I wanted a similar style from the same artist, versus trying to find another artist to work around it. I re-booked despite having had such a negative interpersonal, transactional, (and overall bad experience) at the shop. Don't get me wrong, I liked the final product, despite the experience. I tried to book an additional tattoo to create a half sleeve around the cairn. Millie, the booking agent, was extremely difficult to work with. After providing details on what I was looking for, she informed me that she would not book an appointment UNTIL I paid my deposit. I have no problem with a deposit, but to be clear, I had to pay a deposit BEFORE I was told the date and time in both instances. Millie also does not ask for availability and schedules during work hours. If you have conflicts arise (which I had a work event occur that I could not miss, especially since working in any sort of professional environment is typically done mon-fri 9 am-5pm), Millie informs you that you will forfeit your deposit, even with advance notice. In this latest case, it was 10 days notice in a request to reschedule, not cancel, just reschedule. If I could give zero stars, I would. Koneko is the most beautiful, relaxing studio I've ever been tattooed at and every employee is warm and friendly. Koneko Studio was introduced to me through a friend of Linda's, someone whom I worked with. I researched Koneko online, and was immediately impressed with the care the staff puts into their shop aesthetic, and high quality products on the shelves. Prior to booking for a tattoo, I went in for a piercing to check Koneko out in person. Going in, I expected a high quality customer service experience, considering the value they put into their professional online appearance, products and services. Unfortunately, in some aspects I was disappointed.   I did not make an appointment before going in to get pierced. I was greeted and quickly sat with Masimo. Masimo did an amazing job piercing my nipples! He is very educated on his craft, and put in the perfect size bar. He took the time to make me feel comfortable, like an old friend. Price was fair, the piercing itself was quick, and he answered all of my questions regarding aftercare. The piercing is healing well, with no infection issues. I even went back for a replacement ball, and he knew the exact size I needed. No issues with Moss or his professional attitude.   Booking with Linda was quick and easy, the deposit is reasonable and was not an issue for me. The experience of getting the tattoo was underwhelming. Upon arrival, I came 15 minutes early, as required, and signed the proper paperwork with no issues. As I waited, Linda's apprentice came out to get some more information about my tattoo design. I understand Linda is a well-known artist, who gets a range of clientele, but not speaking with her directly about my design made me feel like she did not want to design my tattoo, and it took another 30 minutes of her apprentice relaying the information to Linda. When her apprentice came back with the cost estimate, and size estimate, I felt taken advantage of. I set a high budget aside, knowing high quality is going to cost more, she said it wouldn't cover what I had in mind for a tattoo, but I truly don't think she understood what I was wanting, and she still made sure to max me out. I felt like she wanted me to reschedule, even after I agreed to the cost, and if I wanted to reschedule, to shovel out more coin, I would have lost my deposit. During the tattoo, I felt ignored and judged like another "fan". I've heard Linda favors her friends over clients, but I don't think it's professional to treat your clients like they are a number and skin. There was no personal interaction, Linda seemed very uninterested with me, and my tattoo. When wrapping my tattoo, her apprentice used a non-adhesive plastic gauze pad, and put latex tape over a tattoo I had specifically asked her NOT to because it was still healing and scabbed. I did not feel relaxed, or appreciated. Dallas is an area where tattoo artists can upcharge for their unique skill, so the price was not my main issue, it was the lack of professionalism and customer interaction. During the healing process, I experienced extreme bruising, and my upper shoulder turned yellow. Not sure why, considering I have detailed tattoos from different artists, that took 4+ hours, felt little pain-I actually fell asleep, cost a third of what Linda charges, and with no bruising after.   Based off my experience, Koneko does not service in their client's best interest. Yes, there is a business aspect to everything, but there is also an experience aspect if you want to retain a positive reputation and loyal clients, who aren't in your friend circle. Maybe, I was one of the unlucky few, but reading the reviews tell me otherwise. I'm certain there would be more honest reviews, if clients weren't afraid of not being able to return for other services, besides a tattoo. (Let me start by saying, don't even expect them to give you the time of day/acknowledge you unless you put down a hefty deposit.) The receptionist Tristyn will talk to you like you are "beneath them" and not friendly or good at her job clearly at all. A receptionist for a business is suppose to be the kind (friendly face) you are greeted by at the door/check out and be there to help answer any questions. That is not at all the receptionist at Koneko. I booked a microblading appointment with Linda after seeing her work on social media. Freshly done unfortunately is not what they look like completed after (in person) or months later healed. Also, DO NOT expect your lines to fade at ALL because she does NOT use pigment which most microblading artist use, she clearly used tattoo ink. Plus DOES NOT go in the epidermis, but rather way deep in the dermis which microblading is NOT suppose to be done at. I have oily skin and it's been months since I've had them done, they should have definitely started to fade by now. I don't know what size blade she used but the lines on my brows are incredibly thick/bold and not at all thin like hair strokes. The lines are not crisp either. Some cross over and some looked jagged which should never happen. Also, the front of my brows are noticeably uneven which drives me crazy looking in the mirror every day as two of the lines blurred together. I arrived to my appointment early, it felt really rushed and as if I was just another dollar figure going in and out of the door or that she just wanted to go home for the day. I just wish I was treated the same as if she was doing her own brows and making them as even and precise as possible. Also, the color pigmentation she choose to use on my brows are extremely dark given my light skin complexion and blonde hair. Wanted to have a great experience and great brows (especially given how much they were) but unfortunately that wasn't the case. My only option now after now consulting with a professional microblading artist is to completely remove them which which will cost more than the actual initial tattoo in the first place. At minimum, 4 times of saline/salt solution 8 weeks apart and red brows till she can cover up the awful work I received by Linda at Koneko. She may do great tattoos on the skin such as the arms, legs, back etc but she CANNOT microblade. Highly recommend seeing someone else. Learn from my mistake and do your research! Cherry on top was when I waited 30/45 min to use their 1 person bathroom in the entire place and one of their workers named Kat took a giant shit and stunk the place up/left skid marks on the toilet. read more

I've been going to KJ for my lashes and I'm always in love every time. she is so sweet and always takes care of me so well. she can always tell if I'm in the mood to talk or just take a lil lash nap. everyone in the shop is super friendly & always take care of me! not only is this an amazing place to go for piercings, tattoos, lashes, etc. they have such a cute selection of plants and other goodies to shop from. I can't imagine going anywhere else. lil update: I finally got a tattoo done here and Bri did such a wonderful job. my brother recently died and I decided to get a line from a birthday card he wrote me. it's done so well that I actually feel like my brother wrote it on me himself. thank you, thank you, thank you Bri! I've been following Linda since she tattooed me while she was still at Elm St. Tattoo 7ish years ago. Since then Linda has opened koneko and as I've followed them I've grown weary of the shop's professionalism due to high turnover rates. I did end up getting tattooed by Bri Leflore in 2019 at Koneko which was probably one of my favorite tattoo experiences. She was super kind and made good conversation. Since then Bri has opened her own studio and I've noticed Linda publicly posting subliminal posts on Instagram bashing previous employees. I was really excited about going to this place finally as I had been planning for a while but time didn't allow. 1st visit - arrived on time, stylist Francesca was late about 10-15 min due to being with previous client. She was not very friendly from the beginning I didn't feel welcomed and this was for two services that would be completed (classic lashes, eyebrow lamination). I thought maybe she was in a bad mood and not very welcoming due to back to back clients and maybe long day. 2nd visit - I arrived on time again she was late 10-15 minutes and again she never came out to let me know but the receptionist was very helpful during that time. This time we walked in to her studio and I expected her to look at my lashes for retention and my eyebrows to give me some advice and further information. Well as soon as I let her know I was having second thoughts about my lashes due to my workout schedule and maintenance. Francesca became very defensive and rude instead of giving her options. I honestly just wanted her opinion and if maybe I needed to go another route with the lashes. Well she immediately let me know I can take them off but and you can reschedule for another service if you want but I can't do it today due to time. She said nothing about my eyebrows and I ended just telling her do the refill and I'm not ever rescheduling again. She completed the refill and walked me to the receptionist and told her check her out and she said she's not rescheduling again. I felt so uncomfortable the entire time she did the refill and not welcomed at all. I let the receptionist know of my experience. It's sad that I wanted to support this women owned business and instead I came out feeling not welcomed and uncomfortable. My experience at Koneko was overall extremely disappointing. I had an appointment with Jade and had given a great deal of description and references of what I was looking for , including two tattoos that she had done that were almost identical to what I was wanting. When I arrived another employee showed me the drawing jade had done and I had some feedback on tweaks that could be made. She said that that would mean I need to rebook my appointment and lose my deposit. We asked to speak with Jade directly (who I had never had the opportunity to correspond with at any point in the process). When speaking to her she said she was unable to redraw unless I rebook. She also proceeded to say that I wasn't specific enough and that the two tattoos that she had done that I sent her were too "common" and she wanted to do something "more unique". I will definitely not be returning to the studio as I don't know any other artists who would be unwilling or unable to make tweaks to the drawing for their client. It is ridiculous suggest and draw something different than what your client asked for (especially when you've never spoken to them) and then blame them and charge them more when they request changes. If this is their policy, artists should be sending the drawing in advance so that there is time for feedback and tweaks. Stick with real tattoo artists who will work with you to make your tattoo perfect! read more

I've visited Koneko twice before, this past weekend was my 2nd time. I am from Houston but I am willing to drive 3 and a half hours to Dallas just to go to Koneko! Every time I arrive I am greeted and offered something to drink. The shop is extremely welcoming, clean and it's decorated beautifully with plants. I love that while you wait you can scan the vegan items that they sell ranging from skincare to stationary items. The very first time I went I got minimal tattoos done by Bri and on yesterday I went back to get those touched up and also added a new piece to my arm. Bri does an amazing job each time and she tattoos very quick but I guarantee the job is always well done. I decided to book my freckle tattoos with Linda on the same day as well and Millie the booking coordinator was so helpful with making appointments for me with Bri and Linda on the same day since I was driving from Houston and wanted to squeeze in as much work as I could get in! Was excited to find this place.. but honestly it's a disappointment. The techs aren't very educated and my tattoo artist did not even CLEAN MY SKIN before starting the tattoo. Lol. I did get a small tattoo but still at least pretend to keep things sterile. Had issues with healing and called.. just to get hung up on over the phone. So disappointing :( would not recommend! I initially found Koneko after reading an article about how the space is uniquely designed and the products sold are curated with natural quality in mind and are cruelty free & vegan. I drove in on a Saturday and arrived a little after opening since piercings are walk-in only. The tiny piercing jewelry offered is designer/higher price point, as one may expect given the space's curated ethos and aesthetic. I went with a white gold designer selection for both ears. Trystan, front manager, was not a warm personality, but to be honest, that does not matter to me as much as the cleanliness and skill level of the staff. The actual piercing artist, Masimo, was fantastic at explaining the jewelery options- There were not many earrings to chose from and Trystan made it clear they would not have another order come in for several months. Masimo gave a great piercing experience. At check-out- I paid the remainder due for the piercing service- Trystan was flustered as she was trying to clean up the glass and jewelry everywhere from the display having collapsed- and I'm sure that was frustrating. Today - about 3 weeks later, I noticed that one earring I just took out is dull and looks like it has many tiny scratches. I was told that it could not have happened when the display collapsed- they were sure that my other earring (still in my ear) was the one in the glass (It delayed me getting pierced since the display broke and earring was in a glass pile before they could sanitize it). Also, they mentioned jewelry polish should bring it back to life, since 14k white gold would have been really hard for me to have scratched- it was in my ear healing the past two weeks and I work an office job- so they thought it was just some sort of residue and needed cleaning. Polish did not help the little scratches much- perhaps a jeweler can buff the tiny earring because I would love to wear it and enjoy it with full sheen, given the designer quality. Next time I know inspect for wear and tear in sunlight before finalizing my jewelry purchase. Masimo was awesome, but I don't think I'd go here again. Too bad, because I really really wanted to pick up some candles, art sculpture flower pots, and bodycare/ face care selections that were awesome. Hopefully Koneko builds/seeks out a great relationship with their jewelry vendors and reps so the experience can remain special for the customer- and it would make the manager's life easier to have supportive vendors that check the jewelry pieces --and that provide a wider selection of jewelry with an easier/more protective display. The vibe at the front just seemed not to be genuine and eager to take money, which it is understandably a business. But as much as small businesses need to protect themselves financially, they also have the opportunity to make build a genuine rapport and sense of community with many different types of people. When i showed up, the front desk girl was nice and welcoming and we got started on my piece. Bri customized the design i sent her of my company logo and I couldn't be happier with what she did! I couldn't have imaged a better experience at this studio! This was my second time seeing Francesca for my brows and lashes and I am blown away. After only getting her services one time I trusted her enough to do my set for my wedding tomorrow! This studio has the absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced. I live in Phoenix Arizona and have been a fan of Little Linda for years and recently had a trip planned to Dallas to visit my mom. I reached out to Linda's assistant to see if there was an opening during my time there and very clearly stated the weekend my trip would be. The assistant assured me of openings but wouldn't give me a date/ time until after the $200 deposit the studio requires. Odd but okay. After paying the deposit I was given a time that days before my flight and was told there are no alterations to appointments. I emailed to let them know unfortunately I couldn't utilize their services and asked for a refund with the assistant "fit" me in at the end of Linda's day during my trip and it worked for me so I agreed. Here's the fun part. Exactly 6 days before my flight, my husband got in a horrific motorcycle accident and that left him in the ICU for days. I emailed Linda's assistant when I knew my husband was stable to ask to move the appointment to another day in the future as I couldn't leave him due to him not even being able to take care of him self and was told they do not offer refunds or move appointments. I reached out to them on instagram and my comments were deleted and I was blocked. I'm shocked that there is zero tolerance for situations just as this with them being a smaller studio, they 100% have the availability to work with their clients, it just seems they lack the compassion. read more

We stopped here to get my niece's ears pierced (she's 10) and good lawd - she was a giant baby and we were there for an hour! The piercer (Massimo?) was SUPER patient with her and with us (two parents and an aunt, quite the crew). He did an awesome job, no blood, no tears, perfect holes that will heal in 3 weeks (no Claire's piercing gun here!). The shop is really cool with eclectic tees, plants, artwork, and little kitschy things plus a nice lounge area for waiting. I felt really bad that we held him up for so long and she was such a baby about it but she finally relented and was very happy with her piercings. I get that this is a pretty established boutique salon. The people that come here have 100% confidence, but I have to speak my own truth. I had my eyebrows done here with Linda and they are horrible! She really did an awful job. My eyebrows are blue!Everything I have researched about why this might have happened says "poor technician knowledge" " wrong choice of color mix" or going too deep into the skin. She Should know how to treat her clients according to the pigment of their skin. After all that's why people come to her, because they "trust" her expertise. At least that's why I came to her after researching so many places. For a place that embraced " diversity" and catering to their various clients she did a shitty job. I paid well over $650 including a touch up. When I first posted this review she got in touch with me, and called me several times asking me to take my review down. She wanted me to come back into the studio so she could "fix" it. I don't trust her and will NOT be going back, oh but she first accused me of Not being her client until I produced proof of email confirmations o had. Please don't go to her and expect good work for eyebrows. I am now looking at a way to get her work fixed, but everything I keep reading points to laser probably being the only remedy. It will expensive, painful and time consuming. Don't be fooled by the pictures she post on IG!! Ask to see some healed work! And ask questions! From the moment I walked in for my appointment everything was so rushed! No time to ask questions, not questions asked about desired shape, color, nothing. I had been wanting to get my nose pierced for a long time now, but I didn't feel comfortable going in any random tattoo shop. I decided to try Koneko Studio since I have followed Linda on Instagram for some time now. I attempted to get it done on Sunday night but the piercer was out of piercing equipment for the tonight. The front desk people were apologetic and said to try again tomorrow. The piercer even came out to apologize. So I came back the next day and there was no wait! The piercer Masimo was awesome. I was extremely nervous, but he put me at ease. The piercing was done very quickly and wasn't as bad as I expected. The studio was very clean and peaceful. Jade was awesome. Very professional, superb skill and the tattoo ended up exactly like we wanted. Thank you Jade! ...the front desk staff came very close to ruining the experience for us though. Don't know her name but she was aloof to the point of being rude and way more interested in her dog than in being helpful. Every question was met with an eye roll and monosyllabic retort.
