i've been getting tattoos for the past 6 years now, and the thing that i hate the most about tattoo shops is the ego that the employees have. if you don't look a certain way, have a certain vibe, or get certain tattoos, they are quick to be rude and standoffish (which is not comforting especially knowing how painful tattoos can be). welcome stranger was the most pleasant tattoo experience i've had so far. not only is the ambiance in the shop super relaxing and chill, but everyone is SO sweet, professional, patient, knowledgeable, and talented. i had the pleasure of working with Rob to do some line work text for me, and it turned out beautiful. we ended up having an amazing conversation as well. i'm telling you right now, i will never go anywhere else to get a tattoo. this is my place! i recommend this shop to everyone looking to have a pleasant tattoo experience. read more

Love this shop so much. It's quite the Lakewood gem as it's conveniently hidden down the street from my house and next to all the establishments I like to frequent. (Lakewood Landing, Buzzbrews, Gold Rush, Bennys etc.) Very professional and clean atmosphere, everyone is beyond friendly and I couldn't have felt more welcomed. Very very spacious and comfortable! The owner has gone out of his way to create a space that really inspires you to be creative. There's whacky metal sculptures and unique art all over! Definitely not your stereotypical tattoo shop experience and I will be coming back from more!! This is my new spot and you should drop in! read more

I got my 7th tattoo from him over the weekend and I'm just as impressed with it as I am with the previous 6 (if not even more so). It's not too common to be able to put your full confidence and trust in letting someone have total creative freedom in designing your art, but every piece of work I have from him has been worth it and absolutely amazing. Truly an artist you can trust to impress that won't just throw any halfhearted design out. As for the shop itself, it's probably the cleanest and most inviting I've been to so far. After some review searches and wishful thoughts, we decided to go to Welcome Stranger. Andy was our artist (who we later learned was the owner) and he made our first time so easy going and relaxed; cracking jokes and explaining everything he was doing. Welcome Stranger has an atmosphere I've never seen in a Dallas tattoo shop. Gone is the Wal-Mart fluorescent lighting from hell, shitty attitudes, and bad music. Everyone in the shop is friendly, welcoming, and *most importantly* very talented. There's no judgement or eye rolling when you're presenting your idea, just a genuine enthusiasm to create amazing artwork. Very overpriced. My friend and I asked for a simple, hand-sized lasso. They asked for $400 each. I understand this place has talented artists, but that's ridiculous. That tattoo shouldn't have cost more than $200. We ended up finding Blood Moon Tattoo Gallery which only charged us $100 each (which is a lot cheaper than we expected to pay). So if you want a good quality tattoo for a cheap price you should check them out. read more
