I attended a spa party and absolutely loved it! I can't believe I wasn't aware there was a black owned spa so close to downtown Dallas. The staff was very accommodating and knowledgeable. The owner, Thai, herself gave me my hand massage; she was so sweet and welcoming Every massage was executed with the perfect pressure to relieve my aches and stresses. I particularly enjoy the mini back massage. Love the eclectic ambiance of the spa as well as the fact they make many of (if not all of) the products they use. Koffee day spa was such an amazing experience. The atmosphere was relaxing and the massage therapist worked diligently to deal with my knots and trigger points. I left feeling significantly better. The massage room has a unique aesthetic with starry lights on the ceiling and beautiful dim relaxing that helped me to relax - this is a major distinction between it and other places which present a more sterile looking aesthetic. Lots of people left reviews which I wish I had read before I bought the Groupon, but what can I say, I'm a sucker for a deal but all deals aren't great deals. With that said, I called to make an appointment and the person I spoke with told me that she would have to take my information and someone would call me back. Fast forward a few days and I got a call back letting me know that they were booked so I decided I would call back to see when I knew what my availability looked like. I called back and this time was prompted to leave a message on the machine. After a few days I got a call back and was able to make an appointment in which I was informed that I needed to bring cash for tip, there was no cancellation/reschedule and to please be prompt. I arrived at my appointment prior to my appointment time and was given a form to complete, however I didn't get into a room until 15 minutes after my appointment time. I was told to undressed to where I was comfortable and to get on the table however prior to the massage there was someone knocking on the door needing items out of the room. So the actual massage didn't start until 20 minutes after my appointment time. I was asked about what areas I wanted to focus on and one area got focused on more than the other and although there was serene music playing, I could also hear people talking and moving about the place. Towards the end the masseuse made some small talk (no big deal) however then it was we ware done and get dressed and when I looked at my watch I noticed I had only been in there for 40 min vs the 60 minutes I paid for. Most places give you a water and highly recommend you drinking plenty of water after, however I had to ask for water. When I was checking out, I saw something about monthly massage packages available and I asked the lady up front and bless her heart she spoke so softly I was straining to hear her between the street noise and the talking going on from services being done next door. What I finally got was I needed to talk to my masseuse about that but he was no where to be found. The next day I felt good with the exception of my shoulders which felt like someone had beat me (a little too much pressure) but the day after the pain went away. So it was easy to find, had no problems parking, I got an okay massage and due to the Groupon it was a good price - however the fact that I feel like I didn't get my full time, there seems to be a lack of knowledge from the staff, from what I over heard the lady say "we are booked until the end of April" (and it's March) and the fact that I've had better massages, I can't say I'll be in any rush to come back any time soon. read more

I've been coming to KDS for years. I've had multiple services and enjoyed each one of them. I'm part of the VIP membership where I definitely feel VIP. I feel it's very affordable for what you get. The massages are excellent but the skin care is it for me.... For the past 6-7 mos I decided to only focus on my skin and I'm glad that I did. Thai is a expert in skin care and my skin looks wonderful. One day I'll go back to the massages, but it's pretty hard once your skin gets to a point of looking youthful with no need for much makeup. It was also convenient to get to and they had free parking which is sometimes hard to manage downtown (Even though it's just 4 spaces in the front of the building which is shared with the staff). Cons: the facility is really loud!!! Not relaxing at all. I heard someone in the back having a business meeting while waiting in the lobby. During my massage I could hear all the background noise still. Also they played House/Trance music instead of regular calming spa sounds. Also during the playback they played a commercial for a depression medication -- I guess whatever music service they are using was free and had ads. Please DO NOT buy/book a Groupon for this place. I had read all the reviews about how others had a bad experience with getting an appointment here. They are not wrong. Last week, I called to make an appointment for today. They got my name, phone number, email, and voucher number over the phone. (Please do not give out your voucher number over the phone. They will abuse this.) The person on the other line, even told me to bring cash for tips and where to park. I had no idea that it was going to be a disaster. Today, I walked in for my 1pm appointment. The girl at the desk said she could not find me in their system. I waited to talk to the owner. Meanwhile, I witnessed another couple that had a simple question of whether they could have 2 female massage therapists be told by the owner that "they can't guarantee 2 female massage therapist because people may call in sick and their business has to go on." Once the owner, Thai, was done with the other customers, we checked to see what had occurred. She said that my phone number and email were incorrect in their system. That I had been booked for last Wednesday. My Groupon voucher had also been redeemed. Thai kept explaining to me her end of the company and what they do and how they send out confirmations. Instead of giving me a lesson on what they usually do, she should have apologized for the mistake and rebooked me immediately. It was the worst customer service I have ever experienced. The owner did eventually, after her lectures and poor attitude, rebook me for an inconvenient time/date as I had already made the drive there today. I have found an amazing medical esthetician!! Thai was very personable and relatable! She assessed my skin and put me on a regimen. I love her products and how she took care of my skin. Customer service on the other hand was ridiculous, I received a voucher for 3 spa services for my birthday and wasn't able to make an appointment for about 2 months since you had to book so far ahead, and not working in an industry with a set schedule was nearly impossible to play phone tag with their receptionist to even figure out what days were available. I ended up adding 30 minutes onto my massage as my full body scrub was no longer an option since I was running out of time to book an appointment before I moved. I was very eager to finally get a chance to go to this day spa, because they specialize in African American and Asian skin. I purchased a Groupon at a great price of $59 for $220 worth of services; it included a Celebrity Facial w/ultrasonic and Pedicure. My expectations were very high. When you enter the location, it is very intimate has an urban "New York" lofty feel to it. I thought the lobby was a little small and needed different type of seating because it was 3 of us crowded on 1 love seat. Also, the flow was kind of confusing because there was no reception desk. My pedicure was just ok to me. I sat in a cushioned wicker chair and dipped my feet in a tub of warm water. Since I'm very tall I felt kind of cramped between the chair and the foot tub, I felt like my foot was touching her chest. I'm used to the vibrating chair and bubbling water, but the traditional style was very simple not too complicated, my biggest complaint was that the spa music was waaaaay too loud. It was blasting, so I never really got a chance to relax. Next was my facial, it was nice. I liked how the product felt on my skin and she finished it off with an ultrasonic device which I had never done before. It was a much milder version of a microdermabrasion, but overall it got rid of the dead skin. Unfortunately, I can not comment on this spas skills or facilities. But I can share some insight on their lack of professionalism and customer service which deserves 1 star. My first impression wasn't great as it took 6 calls to the spa to get someone to answer the phone. Finally, I just booked a 90-minute massage online which the earliest appointment was 4 weeks out. I was hoping to get a massage earlier but saw it as they must have great services that require that much notice. However, today (less than 24 hours before my appointment) I received a call saying they were cancelling my appointment because my scheduled therapist was sick. At this point I was disappointed but willing to push my appointment to a different time with another therapist or the following week with the same therapist. I was given a very short "we are booked over a month out and can't accommodate that. You will have to wait just like everyone else." Well congrats Koffee Day Spa, you are losing out on a new customer. I will never request another appointment with your business. read more

Received a gift card for my bday. I went on Saturday, Dec 7. Parking was a bit of an issue, but once I figured it out, it was well worth it. First time having a facial in years, the service was great. This review may be long so if you read nothing else, please read that the customer service and owner of this business are both horrible. My maid of honor booked a spa party with KDS for my bachelorette party and originally booked the party for 6 people at $125 per person with a non-refundable deposit of $125. We were originally supposed to have the entire space for a private party from 11:00am to 3:00pm. There was a death in the family for 2 members of our party who live two states away, so they were not able to come. There is no written cancellation policy for spa parties present on the website and it was not verbalized to my maid of honor in the booking process so we assumed she could receive a refund for their spots. After finally getting a hold of them (it is difficult to get them on the phone), she was told she could not receive a refund for their spots but that we could replace them and even though it is not policy, we could receive a gift card for the amount not used. Although the therapists were all kind and generally professional, I have complaints about the services as whole and not enough space to write about all of it in this review so the focus is on the cancellation policy and getting a refund. We were able to fill 5 out of the 6 spots for the day. Although the original booking was from 11:00am to 3:00pm, around 1:00pm, I was notified their next party had arrived early - meaning they were able to shorten our services for the day and book additional customers. Though they confirmed the number in our party before the visit, they did not state our booking time would be shortened and we were still paying for all 6 spots. As we left, the owner gave each of us a $25 gift card voucher and suggested we use it for a real facial - the facial she provided was only about 10-15 minutes for each of us when their regular one is 60 minutes. When my maid of honor inquired about the gift card for the last spot, the owner quickly began to lecture us about how we would not receive a physical gift card because it was not even in their policy to do so and she was doing it out of kindness - however, I (the bride) could call and book a couple's massage for my fiancé and me. I decided to call later the following week to ask again for a refund because there was no written cancellation policy anywhere. When I finally got the owner on the phone, the conversation was horrible. During an 11-minute conversation, I barely got a word in because she spent most of the time lecturing me about proper business practices. She never was able to direct me to a written cancellation policy for spa parties and refused to admit and/or recognize that she cut our booking short for another party and still made us pay for a 6th spot. I am not a confrontational person and honestly have never yelled at a business owner for any reason whatsoever. However, her overall tone and demeanor was extremely rude and inappropriate, especially when talking to a customer. I ended up hanging up on our phone call because she was being so unreasonable and extremely rude to me since the beginning. At that point, since I was not able to get a single word in without her talking over me, and she just continued to lecture me, I decided to cut my loses and focus on a review instead. I understand this is a small business and I support that. However, for a small business, you would think the owner might treat customers better in hopes of them coming back a second time. For the owner, I recommend she has all her business policies in writing on the website and follows up verbal communication with written documentation before she ties to enforce them. It is super misleading and not clear. She can mask the fact that she offered us a "gift card" or extra services with compassion all she wants but her tone and general demeanor when talking with customers is anything but. In the end, we essentially paid for services we did not receive, and she was still able to book appointments that afternoon in the space we would have used. The overall spa experience for the services was also not positive but I'll let other members of my party address that because I had too many complaints to even fit everything in one review. Even though the prices are cheaper, you get what you pay for and I would rather pay more money for good customer service and a better experience overall. read more

Amazingly wonderful! I just left the spa and I love the new look. Koffee Day Spa has just revealed their new look after completing their re-branding. They have not had an official re-grand opening but the owner assures me it will be BIG. The new location is near NYLO and Southside on Lamar. The new spa look is ROCKING and doing the most. The setup. This spacious spa offers facials, massages, manis&pedis, makeup applications, microdermabrasion and much more. They even have their own line of products for purchase in addition to name brand Skincare product lines. They even use Sonya Daykar in their treatment rooms. The owner, Thai is fabulous at what she does and she takes good care of my skin. The have memberships and spa party packages as well. I was pleasantly surprised how this hidden spot in the Cedars provided such great customer service and a foot reflexology. Ive had foot reflexology at several places throughout the DFW area and this is one of the better ones. My provider and I can't remember her name was very professional and concerned about the water temperature, the pressure and how the overall service was to me. Scored a good deal for a facial on Groupon for like 30 bucks so I called to set an appointment. The receptionist took my information but had let me know a few things before I came in for the service. She said in so many words that I needed add gratuity for Thai, atleast $20 because of the fact she only gets paid "$19.00" for Groupon specials. I mentioned to her if that's the case then I can go elsewhere to find a facial for $50 and tip on my own based off the service I would receive. If I tip, I'm tipping based off MY experience after the service is complete, not because the receptionist is conning me into doing so. Especially when they have notes in the establishment that says "Don't forget to tip" it was kind of tasteless and I was not okay with that at all. But I could tell that the receptionist didn't know what she was talking about because after I spoke my piece she was like "well im not sure how it just has to be closer to the amount you paid" ( I swear I can't make this up) please train on her on what to say when it pertains to tips and gratuity. I was a little disappointed that I could not use them during my vacation but I was able to get my massage scheduled this week. Marquelle my therapist was amazing! She paid attention to the intake form I completed and the level of pressure she used was perfect. She started on time and my experience was everything that I expected. Will, the massage therapist, is amazing! Very professional and made me feel comfortable. I have had many massages, and this was the first time anyone has focused on my tense neck muscles like this. He is very knowledgeable, and explained which muscle he was working on when he found those knots... and I had a lot. I will definitely be going back.
