We kept going back here because there are such few options for Pakistani food in the area. It is the only place in Dublin and Pleasanton area which serves Beef nihari. We were highly disappointed by our most recent experience here though. Biryani was below average in flavor and chicken leg Tikka was raw. The meat was insanely chewy with blood still on the bone. It was extremely disgusting. Just because there are few options of Pakistani food, it doesn't mean we need to lower our standards this much. Food was good super spicy. This is a review of the dining room. It was absolutely filthy. Food all over the floor, tables not wiped down or cleared off between diners. Some reason there's spill stains, grime and cobwebs on the wall. I've been to the SF Shalimar location and it's always clean. Not sure how the dining room passes health department inspection. Curries are okay. Sheesh kabab is good. Dont go for rice dishes. Here is a tip - Dont go for dine in. They have all huge tables that make you feel like someone will serve you. Disgusting. I ate here years ago and remembered it being very good. Despite the shitty reviews, I still gave it a chance and I'm an just disgusted. I ordered the karahi chicken, chicken tikka masala, garlic naan, and rice. The naan was old and burnt, so much so that we literally played frisbee with it after getting a full refund and ordering from somewhere else. The masala and Karahi tasted old like it had been reheated and had no flavor beyond the pool of oil that it sat in. Even the rice had random flakes of shit (I'm hoping they were just burnt spices). I love Shalimar! It's my go to for Indian food. Idc if it's greasy- it's bomb. Yes I've tried other places, but nothing compares to the flavors here. This is perhaps one of the dirtiest restaurants I've seen in the Bay Area. The dining area walls area dirty with splashes of curry. Probably haven't been painted since original construction. The visible portion of the kitchen doesn't look any cleaner. The rest rooms are extremely filthy. Says a lot about Dublin town health inspectors. If it was in a better governed town, it would've been shut down long ago. I had beef kababs takeout this past week and it was burning spicy. Customer service is a foreign concept to the bearded guy who takes orders and accepts payment. These people do not seem to read their Yelp reviews otherwise they would've cleaned up their act. It's a full house on a Saturday night! At least 100 people were there. The food came in 10 minutes. It's chaotic but it's fun. It's a casual self service restaurant so get your own spoons and napkins. It's a good place to take the kids, lots of seatings and nobody mind the noise. It's not the cleanest place however. Don't take a hot date. $1 naan (size of 2 slices of Costco pizza) $2.50 garlic naan (size of 2 slices of Costco pizza plus 1 head of garlic) $2.50 chicken/beef kabob (size of Costco hotdog, looks like a Costco hotdog) $8 chicken tikka masala (togo order seems bigger than dine-in order, order this and 2 naan and you'll have enough for lunch and dinner) $8 tandoori chicken (size of KFC breast & wing fried chicken, the flavoring is almost there but not there) Most dishes are served on plastic plates and not the pretty ones either. It's more appetizing and sanitary to order togo so your food comes in the togo containers. You can still dine in and take the leftovers home without transferring the food. After seeing really mixed reviews I decided to try this place and ordered through door dash. I ordered the chicken tikka masala with naan and a chicken seekh kabob. The chicken tikka masala was DROWNED in oil.. I literally filtered it out and all that was left was a couple pieces of chicken and burnt tasting masala (spices). Also the food wasn't warm at all. I could blame the driver but he drove directly from the restaurant to my place which was 10 min and I've had food that was still really hot coming from places 20-30 min away. The container itself was already luke warm so it lets me know this was sitting out for who knows how long. Shortly after, I experienced stomach cramps. The only thing that was good was the naan. The kabob was ok too but I've had better. The worst food I've had in awhile.. Oh on top of that, the prepping took over 50 min. I assumed it was being made fresh so I didn't think too deep into it. After going through the Shalimar experience in the Tenderloin of San Francisco, I was compelled to try the Shalimar in Dublin, CA. Last night, it was 9 pm and late for dinner in the Tri-Valley. Shalimar was open till 11:30 pm so I thought this would be a great time to go and beat the crowds. We arrived and the parking lot was almost full but snagged the last parking space. When we opened the car door you could already get the aroma of the South Asian food and tandoori in the air. Opened the restaurant door and this place hopping busy. The line was 4 deep and the tables were almost full. Now having been educated with the SF Shalimar I knew that holding up the line was a "taboo" thing and would get angry stares. I found a used menu / place mat and decided what to order. There were two men with scowls on there faces taking orders. I got the really mean looking one! I thought I had my order together "BUT" as I was ordering the Kabobs order taker #1 asked me a question I was not ready to answer some what due to the accent some what to my "watching the Soup Nazi" Chicken Kabob you want leg or breast" I quickly processed the question and blurted out "breast" After ordering the Chicken kabob, Beef Kabob, Saag Chicken, Lamb Chops, Paneer Chicken, Rice and Garlic Naan. The guy asked me another question I was not ready for. "what table" Huh? Thoughts were flying through my brain I might not get my Indian / Pakistani food fix tonight. The guy then said " table 19" so hearing that my wife grabbed our drinks to stake out our table 19. Then he gave me my order / check " pay cashier ". I abruptly paid a the register and sat down. The tables and floors were a great improvement over SF Shalimar and the food is delivered to your table. Prison silverware and miss matched plates still keep the Shalimar tradition. Ordered garlic naan, shahi paneer and raita via doordash. Regular naan sent instead of garlic naan. Naan was dry ,no butter on it. Shahi paneer curry came in small container with 20% oil floating on the top . Raita was super sweet with overpowering mint flavor. Asked for onions , chili and green chutney on the side but not suppied with the order. Food was not delivered on time. Doordash driver reported he had to wait for extra 40 minutes so he declined the delivery. Another driver had to deliver. Food was delivered cold. Naan got soggy. Am eating here now and the food is good, but service is shoddy. Table next to us ordered a similar dish to us, lady told server it wasn't right and touched the food saying it wasn't what they ordered. Minutes later when it was figured out, server tried to give it to us. I told him I would like a new one and he said it would 15 mins, as if to say you should just take this one although someone touched it. Not really that appetizing... Shalimar is one of my favorite restaurant in the Bay Area specially Fremont and Dublin. I have been eating Dublin shalimar since 2013 after I moved into Tracy. But today I very upset their quality of Birany specially goat birany. Seems like I am eating sticky rice with goat meat and no flavor. Only reason I am giving 2 stars because their chicken shish kabab and tanduri chicken still good quality. It's my humble request to the owner who run the business.....please bring the old stuff and serve the quality food because I still have confidence.. Whether it's a seekh kabab, a tandori chicken, regular or garlic naan, Shalimar (both Jones St in SF or Dublin location) gots it locked. Not the cleanest, but most certainly the meanest. These are hard working group of folks that know how to cook or grill it out. If you're ever on the run, and you're near that place, go it, order two seekh kabab wrapped into one naan, pay your $6 or $7, leave full and happy. Beats any fast food joint. read more

One of the worst in terms of cleanliness, their plates has stains, food had flies and on top of it they cheated on prices too. Once I took few items, I got surprised that they charged 2 $ more on each of the item and no bill was provided. Food inspection folks need to visit this business often. read more

I got my usual, rice, chicken tikka breast, bengan bharta (bengen bhujia on their menu). Excellent. Mango lassi was good, too. But, decor sucks, pictures askew, and the floor is filthy. The women's restroom had a tampon applicator on the fake potted plant. Hey guys, I know you're all dudes who hustle. It's a busy place, but pay attention to the housekeeping. Please. Since Haleem season started in India we tried to satisfy our palette by usually having a bowl of haleem at Pista House. However unlucky i was the last week they ran into some issues with their meat supply and haleem was " Out of Stock" I ventured out to Shalimar since some1 at Pistahouse suggested this as the place to try haleem. I just googled the place drove there ordered 3 boxes and drove home drooling. My 2nd biggest mistake was to invite some more friends for a haleem night ‍ As soon as i opened the box i realised something was wrong. The color was yellow , i could spot dal , and the meat was white and there were huge chunks of ginger. 1 spoon in my mouth and i was " Holy f**** sh****" on what planet do you call this a haleem!! Even as i am writing this review i am furiating like .. **** This was a f***ng dhalcha.... to add salt to my wounds it was a freaking chicken dhalcha .... ‍ not even mutton for Pete's sake . Dal +ginger pieces+ chicken = Haleem is what this place sold me for 9$ a bowl. Look at my pics and you will know what I m talking abt. This was my worst 27$ in drain ever. - Call this f**** horrendous amalgamation a haleem in Hyderabad and you would be banned from this planet for eternity. I'm no Indian food expert, but when your Indian colleagues say this is the best place in the area, you listen. Walking in, it looks like a hole in the wall. No fancy seating, no buffet style. You see that it has a good number of people already eating which is always the #1 sign that it's good. I enjoyed the food (various chicken dishes with naan) and enjoyed that the food was freshly prepared (versus sitting in a warmer). Overall it's a good place to try but you may be a little intimidated at first if you are not with someone who has been there before. read more
