Red curry chicken for me and chicken gahd kah praw for my wife. We ate next door outside the food court. Curry was good but not great. Gahd kah praw was great! Large portions of both meant we had leftovers. Interestingly, the curry was better as leftovers and the gahd kah praw was just good. We'll eat their food again next time in the area. Ah, I'm so happy to find good Thai/Malaysian food. It's far for me, but it's worth driving. I am thankful to my friend who introduced me to this place. Ms Dang was our server, and she was very friendly and professional. I also took a picture of the menu, which was filled with yummy dishes. We started with soup, which was delicious and served hot. After the soup, we ordered appetizers, chicken satay, and good spring rolls This time, we decided to try yellow curry, and we are so happy we tried something different. Loved this spot!! Have been on the hunt for a new Thai place and this spot is both Thai and Malaysian so their menu caters to both cuisines and offers different options than a typical Thai spot. We got the tom kha soup, hokkien mee noodles, and the basil chili salmon. The soup was so good, super light and warm and filled with veggies. The noodles were also super tasty, they didn't skimp on the shrimp. The salmon fell a bit short for us, it was on the sweeter side and we didn't realize it when ordering but the fish was deep fried, and honestly grilled would've been nice/better. I had ordered a small tom yum soup with chicken to start then green curry with veggie and tofu. The lunch menu is a couple of dollars less and includes a small salad. Green salad at Asian restaurant with their special thousand island like dressing always delightful. The soup was definitely more than one person can have with mushrooms, tomatoes, bamboo shoots, lemongrass. The spicy and tangy taste always helps me recover from a cold. There are many Asian options in this area, but many are meat focused, like Korean BBQ, and so forth. Thai is always a great choice for us pescatarians, and Basil Delight was a nice choice. I ordered a Melacca cauliflower, which like many dishes, came with a choice of meat. I chose tofu, and was delighted with how it was cooked. This wasn't exactly health food, but very satisfying, like good bar food. The Wife also had a veggie and tofu dish instead of her usual Pad See Ew, and was happy with it. Sometimes you try some place new and then you "land on landmine." This is one restaurant that I wish I didn't try. I frequent this plaza often and usually I'd go for the Shanghainese restaurant but wanted to try something new so opted for this restaurant which surprisingly has a 4 star average rating (how?). The restaurant states it's Malay and Thai food which is great because I love Malaysian and Singaporean food even more than Thai food but wow that's a big mistake by itself. One of the stable food for Malaysian/Singaporean food is Chow Kueh Teow so I ordered it but that was probably the biggest mistake of the day. Not only it has nothing right with wrong noodle, wrong sauce, wrong flavor and worst of all it's way too wet whereas Chow Kueh Teow should've been dry. The basil seafood was another letdown. It mostly gives you the imitation crab meat which was too thick to be stir fried properly so the inside was not cooked. They also only gives you two tiny shrimps. There was no squid or fish cake in most proper Thai restaurant. Lastly the tamarind prawns were better than the other two but the prawns were too small and too few to make it change my rating. This is definitely not authentic Thai food so if you expect good Thai food don't come here. The restaurant is clean and service is typical so I won't fault them on these. Go to any other restaurant or even the food court in this plaza. read more

Basil Delight is really my spot. I love this place so much. The Thai tea always hits, the pad kee mao is fire, and the tom yum soup is so good every time. The yellow curry is honestly some of the best I've had. It's also halal, which I really appreciate. Even the orange chicken and shrimp are surprisingly good. Hopefully you're not as naive as my group, but we were rushed to wait outside before even putting our name on the waitlist (at this point, we didn't know there was a waitlist! It's at the counter) Food: Tamarind fish: super thin outer layer, and it has the perfect amount of crunch. Think of it as Asian fish and chips but better!! We loved the sauce, and it was so yummy with the veggies dipping in. Basil eggplant: I don't usually like eggplants, but these were really good. The sauce was tangy, but it wasntt overwhelming at all. I believe this came with a rice! Panag curry: the portion was shockingly small, and the beef was overcooked. It comes with green beans. This was a miss for us, probably wouldn't order this again and will try the yellow curry next time. Pineapple fried rice: the shrimps were small, but they are super crunchy and not overcooked. Worst customer service and food. The person on the counter doesn't care about customer. The bathroom was unusable and the person asked the customer to move it. The satay tasted raw. The Laksha tasted raw tumeric broth and curry for roti was salty. The hokkien mee was the only saviour. We had to go to another restaurant to complete our dinner. We don't say anything when we are there because food is a blessing not to be taken for granted. We also end up not eating dishes like the rice bc idk if they check to see if rice is actually fully cooked or edible. No one came to ask any questions on food, so we couldn't ask about it in person. I also wish there were more authentic Thai flavors and veg options available. Too often I just end up Packing the food to give to others. I understand we need to support halal restaurants and do want to only offer constructive feedback. Maybe the flavors here are not what I am looking for. After a morning of shopping at the outlets and wanting something better than the food court. we gave up our parking spot and drove to the Pacific Pearl center just down the way. We circled the parking lot looking for something to call out to us. We decided on Basil Delight and we were pleasantly surprised at how delicious everything was. We ordered Roti with curry sauce, Melacca cauliflower +tofu, basil eggplant, pineapple fried rice. The roti was a good starter. My favorite was the cauliflower and tofu (we chose the protein) which is battered and deep fried tossed with this sweet tangy sauce. So good. The basil eggplant (+chicken) was also very good. The pineapple fried rice had a unique spice that I couldn't figure out but it was unlike other restaurant. So good. The service was quick, efficient and attentive. They had a constant flow of patrons which is a good sign. This will be our goto spot after a day of shopping. And there's a Somi Somi in the same center for dessert. read more
