After a morning of shopping at the outlets and wanting something better than the food court. we gave up our parking spot and drove to the Pacific Pearl center just down the way. We circled the parking lot looking for something to call out to us. We decided on Basil Delight and we were pleasantly surprised at how delicious everything was. We ordered Roti with curry sauce, Melacca cauliflower +tofu, basil eggplant, pineapple fried rice. The roti was a good starter. My favorite was the cauliflower and tofu (we chose the protein) which is battered and deep fried tossed with this sweet tangy sauce. So good. The basil eggplant (+chicken) was also very good. The pineapple fried rice had a unique spice that I couldn't figure out but it was unlike other restaurant. So good. The service was quick, efficient and attentive. They had a constant flow of patrons which is a good sign. This will be our goto spot after a day of shopping. And there's a Somi Somi in the same center for dessert. read more

I always enjoy eating a variety of food when I am at work and this time I felt like Thai Food. Usually my go to is Pad Thai, but I decided to change things up and get the drunken noodle. Pad Kee Mow: Overall, this was a pretty delicious dish. The noodles were thick and I liked the flavor it soaked in from the sauce. I was unsure about how spicy to go, so I went low spicy. I absolutely loved this place, what a hidden gem! The service from the start was amazing and the women working were kind. I came in around lunch time craving Tom Yum soup, so that's what I ordered and it came out quick. The prices on the menu were average but for the soups, definitely more bang for your buck. I got a small which said to feed 2 people, and it was definitely more than enough for me with leftovers for my lunch the next day. They actually do REAL spice levels here. When you ask for 4/5 spicy or "Thai hot", then you really get it that way. Then came the entrees which were chicken n shrimp pad Thai, pad kee mow, green curry fried rice, pepper garlic beef and crispy chicken with green beans which were the highlight of the lunch! This place lost a good customer. Let me start with the service which doesn't even deserve a star. The world's rudest waitresses work here. They don't like their job and don't want to be there and they show it clearly. My husband and I and our two kids would go here from time to time as it's the closest halal Thai place to our house. Food is decent but we stopped going there because of the bad service. We would spend around $80 on average there and that once a month. Their loss. Basil Delights food, delights! Everything had the perfect heat level. I'm sweating but not dying from the heat and I'm super happy about it. Nothing makes me irritated more than when a place advertises spicy, and it isn't. The Tom Kha had these tomatoes in it that tasted like they had been stewing in the broth for hours. Basil beef fried rice, shut the front door, it's that good. Their yellow curry, which they called yellow kari, was perfect. Hubs was so impressed, and so was I. I'm rarely in Pleasanton but this place caught my eye as I knew I would need a spot for dinner! Basil Delight is located in a huge plaza so parking is abundant. We ordered + Pla Rad Prik / Chili Fish Fillet: delicious! tender fish in a crispy batter covered with flavorful sauce. best to eat with some rice :-) + Sambai Chicken: tasted fine but perhaps a bit average. Nothing too special but still fine. +Pad Thai: great! loved that it wasn't dry and it was a pretty good portion. It is a bit sweet but that's fine and I was able to add a bit of spice with their chili sauce on the side. + Larb: you can choose between minced chicken or minced beef. I didn't really like how this place did their larb - it was too hot, it was very pungent (shrimp paste or fish sauce?), and it seems like they chop up the meat instead of using ground meat. Wow, my sister's food recommendation by the way of Basil Delight sure is a find! She has been raving a lot about this restaurant; they way Basil Delight caters to her vegetarian requirements and stays yummy really peaked my interest. An opportunity arouse to check out this restaurant with my parents in tow. Basil Delight is situated in Pearl Pacific where some heavyweights are also situated: Kura Sushi, Fiery Shanghai, Somi Somi. As we enter, I could not help but to see its both Thai and Malaysian. Boy, things sure are getting better. Mama suggested their Garlic Fish Filet and Pad Thai. I added Summer Roll, Rendang Beef, Pineapple Fired Rice, and Tom Kha to our meal. I am elated that Basil Delight is equally a Thai and Malaysian restaurant. Usually (at least in my experience), Thai cuisine stands alone while Malaysian is coupled with Singaporean. That is why I was happy to see Basil Delight was both. Summer Roll came in. It was okay, nothing out of the ordinary. But quickly, the rest of our meal came in succession and was the stars of the show. The Tom Kha was so delicious and heart warming. By far it was the creamiest, yummiest Tom Kha I have ever had. The soup by itself along with a dab of steam rice really hits the spot. Then came along the Garlic Fish Filet and Rendang Beef. The beef was bold in flavor and was also tender. The fish filet, along with its garlic sauce, was equally delicious. The Pineapple Fried Rice was yummy as well. So yummy in fact that having it with another dish is a competition with your palette. I highly suggest to pair your protein dish with steam rice alone. Finally, our Pad Thai came in and it was exactly what my mama described it: not dry like some of the pad thai that we have came across and very flavorful. If there are any nitpicking that I could reckon, it would be that the Tom Kha didn't have a flame to keep it hot, their Pad Thai has a wee bit more fish sauce than I wanted, and their dry chili condiment on the table was not spicy enough as I needed at least 3 teaspoon full to tickle my senses. Nevertheless, none of these have any impact on their rating since our overall experience was really good. I barely scratched the surface as to what other items I still need to try out at Basil Delight. I would definitely come back and try out the rest of their menu. Bismillah! read more

Very clean and simple place to have a great lunch. As soon as we walked in, we seated for our party of six. They do have a generous menu with quite a few options available plus some vegetarian options. Once we place our orders they were brought out to the table fairly quickly, and we can tell that the food was fresh simply because our pallets were shocked by the temperature of how hot the food was lol which I tend to like it that way. A few people at our table had their tea which they said was really good as well. They do provide water to everybody, please be advised so that you're not taking it back. Their water is flavored almost like a cucumber, lemon, or simply just lemon water, but it is refreshing. One thing that kind of made me turn around every time at my table was when somebody enters or exits there location the door closes and pretty much the whole perimeter of the building windows feel like they vibrate, a little bit of structural concerns. I do have like how their location has lots of windows, big windows along for you to view outside and or get some of the sunlight that comes in. We made a good choice by choosing to have lunch here. Although the price wasn't that cheap, they did give a generous portion, so I had enough leftovers to make nearly a whole second serving out of it. This new Asian mall is great and has a mouthwatering range of Asian restaurants, a 99 ranch, boba tea shops and more! But we were here to checkout Basil Delight's Malaysian items so that's where we headed to. Parking is ok on the weekday but overflowing at lunchtime on the weekends. But be forewarned that since covid, the menu at Basil Delight has changed significantly. Gone are the weekday lunch specials menu, and they don't carry a lot of the more obscure items. Their hours have also been cut back. They close lunch at 3pm but take the last order at 2:45! We got takeaway as they only have a few outdoor tables (unlike some of the other bigger restaurants at the mall.). Got the mamak mee goreng (a street food type friend noodle with light gravy) and the curry laksa (curry noodle soup). The mamak mee goreng was very good and brought back good childhood memories of late night suppers on the streets of KL. The curry laksa was ok. Would like to try some of the other dishes and maybe the Thai fare next time. I really hope they can bring back some of the more rare Malaysian items, that would be interesting. read more

I went to this restaurant in 2021. I was around 14 years old. I went with two of the cousins at the time, and when I ordered it was just the appetizer, my cousin ordered one thing of the menu. went it was time to pay for our food, we did that. My cousins gave the lady a tip which was optional. i did not. As we were walking out the door one of the lady's asked me "where is my tip" like hello i was 14 and my table gave u a tip. she walked with us half way through the door before she left us alone. We went there for a work lunch event and it was a great reception. It was full and we took the last table (we were 7). It took a little bit of time for the waitress to take our order but considering how full the restaurant was I still consider it was acceptable. We had some tai tea with was delicious and the rest of the food came within decent time as well. It was delicious to be honest, I had the sea food with rice (can't exactly remember the name) and even though the portion was fair it was so good that I could have stuffed my self even further. The best laksa in town!! My husband loves laksa and he says this is the best in our area, I take his word for it. As for me, as a vegetarian, I have plenty of options, the Melacca Cauliflower is definitely a family favorite. The curries are good too. Other favorites are the eggplant and the cashew entrees. I like that this restaurant offers a Malay, Singaporean, Thai, Indonesian mixed fare. We have only done pickups from this restaurant as we discovered it during Covid time and have only had good experiences with each order. This is one of our favorite places to pick up food from. Based on past experience with Thai and Malaysian food we felt it lacked the spices and flavoring we've grown accustom to. I came here tonight (Thursday) for the first time since I was craving Thai food and I've been wanting to give this place a try (due to the 4 star reviews). I am sad to say that I am disappointed. The entrees came with white rice so that was nice. The Thai Wing - crispy on the outside but the inside was dry. Even the sweet dipping sauce couldn't really save it. Basil eggplant seafood - when the dish came to our table, I noticed right away they didn't put eggplant in it. I let the waitress know and she was apologetic and brought it back to the kitchen to remake it. The seafood that came with it was shrimp, imitation crab meat, fish and squid. The eggplant was undercooked and hard...flavor was ok. Wasn't too impressed. Garlic fish filet - came in 4 huge pieces of battered fish. The garlic sauce was tasty but unfortunately the batter was thick. The fish was bland and quite honestly, I don't think it was seasoned at all. We also ordered the fried banana and ice cream. It wasn't what I expected ; it was in an egg roll form with banana filling. It wasn't bad! Crispy on the outside and warm on the inside. It was a nice combo with the vanilla ice cream. I usually love this restaurant and it is always a go to for me when I want to eat out. Today I came with my family and we ordered $70 worth of food. We left a 15% tip and we finished our meal and I had walked out the restaurant. My dad went in and asked for a fortune cookie and the waitress took out a different receipt with a $4 tip on it and stared at my dad. He asked "are you okay?" And she said "yeah I'm okay are you okay?" We were so confused at her rudeness and did not know what to say. The waitress confused us with another customer and was extremely rude.
