I've been wanting to visit Raya Restaurant in Dublin for a long time, ever since I tried their combo dinner box at an event. Today, I happened to be nearby and finally got the opportunity to stop by -- and I'm so glad I did! I tried their weekend special Non-Veg Thali, which came with mutton gravy, chicken gravy, rasam, mor, poriyal, pickle, chapathi, appalam, plus freshly made Chicken 65 and an omelette. Everything tasted fresh, flavorful, and homemade -- and all of this for just $16.99!! So far, this is honestly one of the best lunch thalis I've had anywhere in the Bay Area. Outstanding food and incredible value for the price. The ambience is also very pleasant, and the restaurant itself is quite spacious. It's a nice, comfortable, family-friendly place, which makes the overall dining experience even better. I also had a chance to meet and talk with Chef Mr. Siva. He was very humble, friendly, and genuinely passionate about the food. I feel this is exactly the kind of restaurant that people should support and help grow. Before leaving, I also got a mutton biryani to-go. They gave me a small cup to taste beforehand, and based on that, I already know it's going to be really good! I'm giving this review 5 stars because that's the maximum Yelp allows, but honestly, the food, freshness, quality, and value here deserve 7 stars -- or whatever the highest rating you can name! Corrupt business. Horrible service. Placed an online order from their site. Went there 20 mins later and they had not even checked their online service. The order was sitting in the machine for 20 mins. Dont let you cancel the order either - bad business practices. Will report them to City of Dublin. read more

Recently heard about this spot being open and decided to have date night here tonight. I like that the menu options were simple. On the table: Gobi Manchurian Viruthunagar Mutton Curry Side of white rice and 1 parotta Chicken biryani combo 5/5 Gobi Manchurian was nice and crispy. Lightly tossed in a tangy spicy sauce with onions and green bell peppers. Great starter or to go with your main meal. 4.5/5 Viruthunagar Mutton Curry was flavorful and mutton was very tender. It had a mellow flavor but we could not pin point the spices. Paired well with the white rice and parotta. 4/5 Chicken Biryani combo was really good and probably could be shared with two people. Even with spice level mild it was still spicy. The rice was very flavorful and fluffy. The chicken soup was really flavorful and spicy. Like a chicken broth that would clear your sinuses. The chicken 65 was nice and crispy like popcorn chicken. Combo came with parotta and gravy which went well together. Came with a yogurt sauce and sweet. OMG the sweet was so good! Sort of like a rice pudding with sweet condensed milk. I could eat a bowl! 4/5 Parotta is a flakey bread similar to roti but it can get messy. Overall good to pair with any meal. If you love spicy food with lots of spices and full of flavor I recommend giving Raya a try. Service was good and the employees were very friendly and helped explained what was on the menu. It's tucked away in a non descript corner at the intersection of Village Parkway and Amador Valley Boulevard (next to Oil changers). This is a place I wanted to check out for a while. The ambiance and service are both great. The food was alright. The onion and spinach pakoras were delicious. We also got utappam, and masala dosas and idli. Also got egg dosa which came in a form of uttapam. The flavors here are extremely authentic. The sambhar was ghee heavy and that's all you could taste. The coconut chutney and tomato chutney was a taste I have never experienced before. The masala filling for the dosa was extremely bland. This place is extremely authentic. I ordered the Mutton Biryani, Chicken Combo Plate (which came with biryani, raita, parotta, salsa, mutton sukka/chicken 65, and payasam), Pallipalayam Chicken, and a Karandi Omelette. Every single dish tasted pure, fresh, and completely authentic. What stood out the most? No artificial colors No MSG No preservatives The flavors were spot on, and the food felt so natural that I didn't feel heavy or bloated after the meal - that's a HUGE win compared to most places. Restruant seemed clean and kept, wait staff was courteous, very friendly and menu looked appealing. What I did not expect was the 4-5 baby roaches, yes cockroaches, that came out of my menu. When we brought it to the attention to wait staff, they literally smashed it on the table with a napkin and no follow up to sanitize the table or anything. Saw the grand opening announcement and came here to try the restaurant. Was pleasantly surprised by the evening buffet. The spread was very good. Some items like the podi idli, kurma, veg soup were exceptional but almost all items on the spread were good. The buffet was very filling The team serving the restaurant was very polite and checked in adequately, they also fixed my coffee when I wasn't happy with it . But the coffee was still not up to the mark Ambiance is 3/5 but they are new and I am sure they will make it more prettier and cozy soon . Overall a good choice for a meal. While the food was decent, the real issue was with the front desk staff. I requested to change my chapati order to a parotta -- fully aware it would cost more. Instead of handling the request politely, the staff member said, "It'll be $2 more, is that okay?" in a tone that felt dismissive and unfriendly. What was more frustrating was his expression and overall attitude -- not welcoming at all. It felt like customers were being treated as burdens rather than guests. We decided to try this place as we thought it was new and the ratings were good. What a terrible idea. We ordered one of the special masala dosa and the andhra chicken combo. The only reason for the 2 star is that the parotha was good. The sambar was among the worst I have had in the US , the coconut chutney was so bland, I thought I had covid again. The andhra chicken had 3 tiny pieces of chicken in a lot of gravy. I seriously do not understand how they think they will survive in this competitive market with great Indian and South Indian restaurants in the tri valley area.
