    Kashmiri mutton gushtaba

Ambience: Food: 1/2 Service: The Chicken Tikka Trio and Pathar ke Kebab were absolutely amazing ; incredibly soft and flavorful. Laal Maas remains my all-time favorite here. I also tried the Kashmiri Mutton Gushtaba, which was a bit disappointing : I was expecting a richer, creamier texture. The naans were excellent as well. And the Ghewar is a must try We came here to celebrate our anniversary, and the experience truly didn't disappoint. Would definitely come back again.

Pippal is a nice, spacious place for modern Indian dining. Chicken Tikka Trio was juicy and flavorful, it was definitely the highlight of the meal. Mango Alleppery Fish & Prawn Curry was also delicious and flavorful, but I wish they gave more proteins since I personally felt they gave too much curry for the amount of protein they gave. We ended with the Ghewar for dessert and it was a definitely a treat. The coconut ice cream made the dessert very refreshing, but I think it was a bit too sweet for me

Pathar ke Kebab (lamb kebabs cooked on a stone slab) and Kerala Backwaters (vodka, rasam, spices, lime, honey)

This is a fairly new, fine dining Indian restaurant which we were finally able to experience and it was a big hit with everyone in our group. For starters, we went with the pathar ke kebab (3 succulent, tender pieces of lamb cooked over a stone slab) that literally melt in your mouth...oh so good. The main course was the Kashmiri Mutton Mushtaba (minced mutton ball/kofta) smothered in a rich white gravy, Chicken Saoji which was cooked to perfection with a spicy brown gravy, accompanied by a cucumber raita and a variety of breads (garlic naan, pudina and lacha parathas) which were still warm and flaky when served. Moong daal halwa (topped with some nuts) served warm rounded off the meal...and yes you read that right, Indian desserts are usually served at room temperature or warm. They do have a full bar and plenty of indoor and outdoor seating too, so be sure to give this place a try, you won't be disappointed.

Honestly, I was a bit blown away by how good the experience was given reviews I had seen. We went here for a date night in a little restaurant hub in Dublin. The interior was beautiful - the bar, decorum, the huge space... The service was top notch, very friendly, informative, polite, and honestly pleasant to be around (not many diners so this may have contributed). Looked at the menu and saw a good variety of food and drinks. Overall we got the: * Lamb Chops (8.75/10) * Chakri Paneer "Cannoli" (8.5/10) * Bhopali (4/10) * Kolkata Butter Chicken (5/10) * Payasum (5/10) * Celebration Desert (7.5/10) * Gurgaon Border Cocktail (8.25/10) * Kashmiri Old Fashioned (2/10) * Indri Dru Cask Strength Indian Whisky (7.75/10) * Old Monk Indian Beer (5/10) Standouts honestly were the appetizers, still thinking about how flavorful the lamb chops and paneer cannoli were. The Gurgaon Border cocktail is also a great recommend - loved the Ghee and Caramel notes. The highlights were the Appetizers, Drink Menu, Decorum, and Service. Their Entrees were more on the bland side, lacked a lot of flavor. This definitely needs improvement. It would be good to incorporate Beef and Pork dishes to compete with the Elevated Indian Restaurants in the penninsula imo (Kerala Beef Pepper Fry, Goan Pork Vindaloo, etc..) Definitely will be coming back down the road!

Had a group lunch with friends at a nearly empty restaurant on a Monday. Resto itself was beautifully decorated and quite upscale. Service was attentive, small portions, on the pricey side, but delicious flavors. We had the fish wrapped in banana leaf, butter chicken, naan, salad, the veg dish, dumplings, and trio chicken and they were all flavorful. Would love to try a weekday lunch special pricing.

Amazing ambiance and great service, we visited during the Valentine's Day week. Ordered dumplings, butter naan and chicken saoji, i got the guava drink and asked to hold off ice, i got the drink in a little shot glass and had to pay $14 for that which was a bit surprising, very small quantities but the overall taste was pretty decent

Beautiful Indian restaurant, with some of the most aesthetic wall decor, chandeliers and dishes. The vibe is preppy and upscale. There are plenty of servers so the service is at par with a fine-dining restaurant. The drinks were decent but we weren't blown away. Taj Mahal was my favorite of all the drinks but it's also because I am partial to Lychee and green cardamom. Kerala Backwaters, with a vodka base and rasam sounded interesting and it tasted decent. The restaurant was out of Mysore Punch which we wanted to try so we got Jim Corbett instead and it was unimpressive. For the food, we ordered the Arbi (Taro) appetizer, the green chutney on it had a kick to it. We went with a light dinner, ordering the paneer dish and the pulao. The pulao was very fragrant and the flavors were just right. The paneer was very different, it consisted of very thinly layered slices of paneer with vegetables in a delectable thick sauce. I have had better roomali roti, theirs was more like a lachcha Parantha unless they switched my order. We were too busy chatting to double-check on that. All in all, a nice restaurant to have a fine-dining Indian meal experience. The tri-valley has a serious lack of these kind of restaurants, so it's definitely a welcome addition to the food scene.

Pippal is an amazing upscale Indian restaurant that the Tri-Valley desperately needed. Unlike most of the offerings in the area, the decor is modern but warm and so very enticing - a distinct cut above the normal traditional Indian decor. Walking in presents a very relaxed and welcoming vibe - we knew we were in for a treat. We sat at the bar and ordered G&Ts and they were perfectly crafted by our very hospitable bartender who introduced himself as Tony. The Manager Sej was very warm and welcoming, stopping by to introduce himself and check in on our drinks and our food. The Live Chaat Trolley was not available at the bar. We were disappointed but will have to happily return to try it! The Papad Sampler was exquisite with a variety of papads offering different spices and accompanying sauces. We sampled just appetizers this time but definitely look forward to returning to sit at a table and enjoy more of their tasty dishes! Definitely recommended!

We have come here twice now. Happy to have a variety in the east Bay Area. The restaurant is beautiful, staff tried really hard to be attentive. The first time we came, the manager was amazing about everything. Checking in, ensuring we liked everything etc. I like that there is a kids menu, I just wish there were more "allergy friendly" options (nuts and dairy). It's a lot to ask for I do understand that, so that doesn't account for the overall stars or review. The scent in the bathroom is wayyyy too much. I refused to use the restroom the second time because I couldn't breathe in there the first time. While I appreciate that it doesn't smell bad it's just too strong and I could smell it while ordering food lol. The two drinks I have tried have both tasted great! The tequila and mezcal ones I would order again for sure-but one of my drinks had a peel of something in it...kinda gross? Now for the food, the live chaat cart is a cool and fun concept and tastes great. But the two vs four portion size doesn't feel any different?! and the prices?! Idkk I don't think 38 for "4 ppl" is worth it when it legit looks like the same size for 2 people. The appetizers we like are the chicken trio and chakri paneer dish. The pappad is a hit with the kids but why is there a khakra in there?! That is not a pappad lol..very strange? Different? Cheap and easy?! Idk just why lol Now for the main dishes, I do not like a single one of their sauces. It is super sweet and has SOOOO much cardamom...not a fan at all. It all has cashew and my son is allergic. The garlic naan is good! Overall, I don't mind coming and would honestly come back. My dad though-really did not like it. He said it was too much money and the food didn't match the price. While this new wave of Indian food has potential I feel like this misses the mark in terms of flavor profile-unless you LOVE cardamom.

I'm sad to write this review because I truly wanted to like this restaurant. I've been to several places owned by this restaurant group and have never been disappointed, so I came in with high hopes. Unfortunately, my experience at Pippal fell short. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The ambience is warm and inviting, and even though the space is small, they've laid it out thoughtfully. The staff was professionally dressed, attentive, and very courteous. I went with my husband and two friends, and we ordered the chaat, papad, malai kofta, a fish dish, the lal maas, butter chicken, rice, and naan. The biggest issue was the food. Everything was extremely sweet. We were told the lal maas was the spiciest dish on the menu, and while it was the only item that wasn't overly sweet, it wasn't spicy at all. We actually had to order green chilies and green chutney on the side just to balance the lack of heat. The butter chicken was also very sweet, though the chicken itself was tender and juicy. The chaat was sweet as well -- I wish the yogurt hadn't been loaded with sugar. Overall, the flavors didn't feel authentic, and the sweetness overwhelmed every dish. Sadly, this is not a place I'll be returning to.

Came here for dinner on a Saturday night and was really looking forward to trying it. There was plenty of parking since it's part of a larger shopping complex. We had a reservation for an outdoor table and checked in, and were told it would be ready shortly. After waiting quite a while, we checked in again and the hostess finally led us to our table. We had actually seen it earlier and assumed it was meant for another party, so I guess it had been ready the whole time. Once we were seated, we asked if the heaters could be turned on and if one could be moved closer. We were told it was no problem, but our server kept forgetting even though we reminded him several times. We eventually just gave up. We were about to order a few mocktails and were told only 1 option was still available. We ended up just ordering appetizers and main dishes. The food was flavorful (also appreciated the presentation) but extremely spicy. We ended up filling up on water. We had asked multiple times for the dishes to be made mild and were told there would only be a little spice. It was definitely not a little spice. When we got the check, we mentioned this to the person who brought it and she said we should have spoken up because they could have adjusted it. Service overall was quite slow and we were barely checked on. For an expensive special dinner, it ended up being very disappointing.

    Imran K.

We were a group of five with outdoor reservations on a Saturday evening. We arrived right on time and requested to be seated. We waited outside for a while before going inside to check on the seating status, and we were asked to wait a few more minutes. The outdoor seating was largely empty, so I'm not sure what the reason for the wait was. I was ready to leave before we were seated, but my party wanted to wait. When the waiter started taking our order, he said he would move the heater next to us after putting the order in, but he never did. He mentioned it a second time when checking in on us later, but again, the heater was never moved. The flavors of the food were very good. We ordered a variety of dishes, including appetizers and main courses. However, the food overall was very spicy for us. When ordering, we specifically asked if the dishes could be made mild and were told that the dishes generally couldn't be tailored, but the waiter would ask the chef. The food did end up being so spicy that we weren't able to fully enjoy the meal. When we received the check, a 20% gratuity was already added. The menu clearly states that a 20% gratuity is added for parties of six or more; since we were a party of five, this pre-added charge should not have been applied. Additionally, the outdoor seating is located right on Tassajara, resulting in a lot of road noise that compromises the dining experience. Overall, it was a disappointing experience given the brand's reputation and the price point.

Opened recently at Dublin. I have also visited the Emeryville branch earlier. The decor and and ambiance was great. We reserved a table earlier for 6. The food and drinks were amazing. Tried fish bhel which is a combo of shashimi , quinoa and puffed rice. Parsi fish curry was also good. The star of the night was Chicken Biriyani. It was ridiculously delicious. Also tried litti chokha.it was ok. One plate has two littis, priced for $26 which I felt overpriced. Overall a very good experience. It is pretty upscale and pricey.

My personal favorites were the carrot halwa, mango lassi, and biryani. The only downside was how they handled the naan. Instead of having it at the buffet, they serve it directly to the table. With the rush, it was really hard to get any, we waited almost 20 minutes for our first (and only) basket. It would be much better if naan were available at the buffet or if they circulated it more frequently. On the plus side, they were quick about clearing plates. Prices are reasonable: $24.99 for adults and $11.99 for kids, with kids under five eating free.
