Iam surprised when I went to pick up a customer order through DoorDash and it was just a faluda kulfi which was supposed to be to be prepared in 5 mins but they told me to wait n it took them 15 mins to prepare it although the restaurant was not so busy but the servers pretended to be busy I asked after 5 mins again bcos d customer was waiting for the order for this the server got aggressive n told me to go n said iam not giving u the order. The server was very rude n non hospitalitable person being an server . Owner kindly note this n teach ur server how to talk to the customer or anyone or else plz put that server to work as a dishwasher bcos he is not professional n not eligible to work at front position. I almost always get a thali and a chaat (which is a lot of food!), but their menu is large including rotating specials. Last visit they had a special thali and I was just blown away. I was initially worried it might be inside the mall, but I was pleasantly surprised to find it located right next to the Regal Theater. The interior is lovely, featuring cozy, low lighting, and the staff was incredibly friendly and helpful with recommendations. I ordered my usual--Vegetable Korma and Samosas--and asked for them spicy. The food was incredible; the Korma had perfect heat and flavor, and the Butter Naan was amazing. My friend and I tried the Afghani Paneer w/ Cheese Naan (creamy cashew-marinated paneer with buttery, cheesy naan). the Crispy Chaat Basket (flour-made crispy baskets filled with a combination of moong sprouts, fresh-cut mix vegetables and boiled potatoes with yogurt and tangy chutneys). and the Gujrati Ragada Patties (potato cutlets; loaded with green peas curry; laced with sweet and spicy chutney and garnished with onions and cilantro). Very filling. Extra bhature is $5 for 2 pcs which is a sweet deal too if u are sharing. - haryali kebab - 4/5- 2 huge pieces of spinach potato fritters with a slight twist of being topped with yogurt, grated cabbage and beetroot and green chutney. Loved the texture and kick - tandoori paneer tikka - 3/5- chewy, dry and doesnt come with a dipping sauce or side bread :( it did come with mango sauce which didnt pair well at all. - masala chai 4/5 - decent and comes without sugar which is good. AMAZING food! I'm a Chaat food noob but I love it! I stumbled across Star Chaat Cuisine while a co-worker and I were looking for something different. I'm glad we picked this place as its a hidden gem. First off, if you love vegetarian cuisine with robust flavor this s your jam! I chose the Aloo Mattar and it didn't disappoint! The potatoes and peas in warm onion sauce was a nice blend of textures, spices and stew-like broth. My friend ordered the Chili Paneer and that was amazing as well! It had peppers, chili cubed cheese and a nice level of heat to it. Speaking of, the waiter asked what level of heat you prefer and that's a nice touch as some like it hotter than others. We topped it off with fresh Naan (which was equally amazing, nothing like fresh naan!) and a side of jasmine rice. All you can ask for! But there's more! The service here was excellent too. Super attentive and very fast! I was actually surprised how quick it was. Lastly the restaurant is clean. The seating and table surfaces are all clean and presentable. There were a couple boxes here and there which led me to believe it was a new place or they just got a large delivery. I went on a wet day and I found the floor to be a little slick so if you go on a soggy day watch out for that. I have been a regular customer of this restaurant, consistently ordering through DoorDash. It has actually been one of my biggest expenses recently. Unfortunately, their quality has dropped a lot. They have started cutting corners, and there is no consistency anymore. Today I ordered bread pakora, which has always contained only spiced potatoes, just as described. But this time it arrived with both potatoes and slices of paneer. I was really disappointed. I do not like paneer in pakoras that already have potatoes, and that is exactly why I chose bread pakora. They have never added paneer before and it is not even mentioned in the ingredients. This random change made no sense and completely ruined the dish for me. They also reduced the amount of salad when I order three or four items. Today my mint lassi arrived at room temperature. The Amritsari naan has gotten worse too. These days it comes out thick on one side and extremely thin on the other. Their food is not cheap, and I am really unhappy. I have ordered from them so many times and it feels like I am lucky if my order ever arrives the way it should. read more

Today though our Dahi sev puri was average, the paneer lababdar was very much like paneer mattar but with tons of oil on top, no flavor and even short on salt. We've had a disappointing experience with Star Chaat Cuisine on multiple occasions. We placed catering orders twice--once for a morning pickup and once in the afternoon--and both times we had to wait 30-40 minutes past the committed pickup time. In both cases, when we arrived at the scheduled time, we were told that the food had not even been started yet and that we would need to wait another 30 minutes or more. What was more frustrating was being told that it was somehow our fault for not calling to remind them, even though the order had already been confirmed with a specific pickup time. For the morning order, they later said they don't open until 11:30 AM and that we shouldn't place an 11:00 AM order--but then why accept the order in the first place and confirm that it would be ready? The food is good, but reliability and communication are critical for catering orders, and unfortunately that has been lacking. Accepting orders for times you can't honor and then blaming customers for delays is not acceptable. Hoping they improve their order management and accountability going forward. read more

I was craving Indian food while I was stuck at home, and Star Chaat was the most highly rated option available on DoorDash. In summary: This is just okay Indian food. I am British-American and was spoiled with amazing Indian food growing up. Now as a Bay Area transplant, I am overwhelmed by how many options there are for Indian restaurants in the general vicinity. I know that somewhere in the mix of all options is the best if the best spot, but Star Chaat wasn't it for me. I ordered: - Samosa: (10/10) I actually loved the samosas here. Flavorful, perfectly light, and surprisingly great spice. This was what made the meal for me. - Saag paneer: (4/10) The flavor profile was very off and disappointing, and didn't scratch the itch of my craving. Very bland. I was surprised at how bad the saag was here as it's a vegetarian staple, at a vegetarian restaurant. - Chole masala: (5.5/10) OK, but not amazing, and I wouldn't try it here again. read more
