    amritsari Kulcha with Chana

Soft, fresh paranthas are *the* thing to get at Parantha House - these stuffed flatbreads are cooked to perfection with a golden, blistered exterior, tender inside, and generously packed with savory filling. They come with white butter (makhan) that's rich and creamy, plus boondi raita and pickles on the side. I tried the mooli (radish) parantha, which had a nice kick of heat, and the gobi (cauliflower) one, which was milder but still super flavorful. The Amritsari kulcha with chole (chickpea) is another standout choice. Everything here is vegetarian, and it's a self-service setup - order before sitting down, bus your own table, and expect service to be pretty bare-bones. But the food comes out quick, prices are reasonable, and one parantha order is more than enough for a filling lunch. Definitely a solid spot to try this North Indian comfort food.

Parantha House is a simple, understated Punjabi dhaba (roadside restaurant) offering authentic North Indian vegetarian cuisine including chaats, sweets, and (of course) paranthas. Wanting to try a variety of items, I ordered the Veg Thali, a rectangular metal platter that came with jeera rice, two soft buttered rotis, boondi raita (yogurt topped with fried gram flour balls), gulab jamun, and three curries. The selection on my visit included dal makhani, shahi paneer (thick slices of paneer, onions, and peppers in a creamy tomato gravy), and masala baigan (eggplant and onions cooked in an oily spice mixture). The three vegetables were flavorful and perfectly spiced, pairing perfectly with the chewy rice and soft rotis. Overall, the flavors of the food at this simple, self-service eatery were on point, and everything came at a fair value with super quick service.

We did a Togo for various parathas- Aloo ( Potato) & onion Muli (Radish) Gobi (Cauliflower) It was packed very nicely it was still super hot after 35-40 mins. The accompaniments were raita, white butter & pickles. I did see they had a buffet going on when we were inside to place an order. Place was completely packed as it was very warm to sit outside. But they have adequate outside seating too to enjoy when it's not very warm outside. Parathas were delicious with all the condiments given. Will try their other items too. Given that it's a vegetarian place will come soon for their Punjabi food.

Not sure why the ratings the low :/ We had aloo and onion paratha and it was fire!! Amazing portion size and love the white butter that comes with it. Truly authentic and well priced. The ambiance is casual and the service was decent. We're def coming back to try more items on the menu.

We had early lunch here and ordered Paneer Paratha, Aloo & Pyaaz Paratha, Chole Bhatura and Paneer Kulcha with Chole. They were served with onion, mirchi, pickle and makhan (traditional). All were good in taste (paneer could have better spices and make it more tasty though). They had buffet too, which we may try next time as there were many vegetarian curries. Restaurant is clean and service was good. I would go again and recommend this place if you would like to try paratha traditional way as many restaurants serve it but without the integral items like makhan, pickle, etc.

Tried their buffet on a Sunday and found the food authentic and spread delicious. They serve only Paranthas and Kulche Chole from their a la carte menu, which led us to trying out the buffet as we were craving for chole bhature. Starters had only one good chat option - Pani Puri. Didn't try the kachori and small samosa. The puri was great, pani was tasty and the chole filling good. Main course had Alu Methi Paneer, Alu Gobhi, Chole Bhatura, Paneer Makhani, Dal Makhani, jeera rice, and plain parantha. Each dish was made with distinct Punjabi taste and delicious. Will recommend the vegetarian buffet. Their paranthas are mostly ordered by folks around us. Will go back for them.

We came here on a Saturday evening to have dinner. There was a long line which ensured me that the place was very popular. There was no buffet option available last Saturday. My husband and I ordered aloo paratha and Amritsar kulcha with chole. We had to wait for around 10 minutes to get a table. After being seated the food took around 15-20 minutes to arrive. The food itself was exceptional, best paratha I have had in a long time. It transported me back to Chandigarh. There was a lot of butter in the paratha along with Raita and pickle. My husband also really enjoyed his dish. I rate it 4/5. One star for the cleanliness of the place, the table cloth we were seated still had food stains from previous customer. Overall good place to eat if you don't care too much about ambience

This is a small hole in the wall restaurant with some of the most authentic Punjabi food I've ever had! They offer a variety of items on their menu but I opted for the aloo & onion paratha. It was served with a dollop of butter and a bowl of boondi raita, true to a Dhaba experience in India. The paratha was absolute PERFECTION - crunchy on the outside, soft on the inside. The filling was super delicious. I live in Austin and wish we had such a restaurant - this will be one of my top stops whenever I visit the Bay Area. An absolute must try !

We tried chole bhature, paneer & aloo paratha. Everything was delicious. Best part was that the bhature were fluffy yet not oily. We totally enjoyed the pickle, raita & makhan with it. Service was fast. Don't go here for ambience but for food.

I loved this place. The vibe is friendly. I tried their morning buffet. It started at noon. I loved the chole, poori, dahi bhallas and chutney. The Aaloo ki sabji was also great. The rest of the food was okay. Next time I'll try their parantha.

Chole with a rubber band inside

Found a thick rubber band inside chole and thats just unacceptable. What's happening in the kitchen is a huge problem when such objects end up in food. Imagine if this was something small and more dangerous. Quality and safety should be of highest priority... when that is compromised then its a huge problem.

For those who aren't familiar, the best way I can describe it is a savory doughnut without any frosting or toppings (taste a lot like potato/french fries to me, but staff told me it was made with flour not potatoes). It was the perfect thing to dip in the sauces I had leftover from my dosa. The staff here are also incredibly friendly and I enjoy coming here to catch up with them. The food was good overall, with a solid variety: chicken, mutton, and fish curries, biryani, several vegetarian dishes, mango lassi, sweets, curd rice, puri, vada, noodles, and hot tea. My personal favorites were the carrot halwa, mango lassi, and biryani. The only downside was how they handled the naan. Instead of having it at the buffet, they serve it directly to the table. With the rush, it was really hard to get any, we waited almost 20 minutes for our first (and only) basket. It would be much better if naan were available at the buffet or if they circulated it more frequently. On the plus side, they were quick about clearing plates. Prices are reasonable: $24.99 for adults and $11.99 for kids, with kids under five eating free.
