I just realized I never wrote a review for this place. I used to order their family pack biryani regularly, and it always came with a good amount of meat pieces, chicken 65, one soda, and one gulab jamun. One time, I even requested to replace the soda with an extra gulab jamun in the comments section while ordering, and they actually acknowledged it, which I appreciated. But last week, I ordered the same family pack biryani again, and the experience was completely different. The biryani had noticeably fewer meat pieces, the chicken 65 quantity was smaller, and there was no gulab jamun either. I was really disappointed this time. To be fair, they never officially mentioned anywhere that the family pack includes these extra items. This expectation was based on my previous experiences ordering from them. We get Indian food about every every three weeks. My husband likes it very spicy and I like the flavors. This was our first visit to Biryaniz. We placed an order by phone to pick up. We had saag paneer, butter chicken and Gobi Manchurian. On a scale of 1 to 10 for heat the saag paneer was a one. I enjoyed it. There was lots of cheese and the sauce was flavorful. I really like Indian butter chicken as a rule. I was a little disappointed with this butter chicken. It was very tomatoey in flavor. Compared to some of the other local Indian restaurants however there was a good amount of chicken in the dish.The heat level was about a four. The Gobi Manchurian was a seven for heat. It was a little too spicy for me. There was a good quantity of cauliflower and it was nicely prepared. Both the butter chicken and the Gobi Manchurian were served with rice. Ordered from this place based on recommendation from a coworker. We went in on a Friday and ordered butter chicken, garlic naan, tikka masala and fish biryani. Was told the food would be ready in 20 minutes. So we wait for it. 20 min comes and goes. Asked if my food was ready. Was told not yet. Well, we didn't get our food until another 25 min past. So total wait time was 45 min. The woman apologized and said she wanted the cooks to redo the naan as it looked burnt. I was rather hangry at this point. When I got home with the food, I said to myself, this food better be worth it. Well, it was really good. I enjoyed the food and calmed down from my hangry low. My kids love Biryani so one we decided to give this place a try. We browsed through the Biryani options on the menu and decided to give their Special Biryani a try. Our order arrived pretty quickly . The biryani looked and smelled great, didn't seem to oily. It had a boiled egg on top and a good amount of batter coated chicken. The rice was cooked perfectly well and garnished with caramelized onions. Yum! The biryani came with a side of Salan & Mint Raita. Overall the biryani had no heat at all, yet was flavorful! I love the food here! Their chicken birani with rice is very good. I also live their masala Chai tea. I would like it if they could make their chicken dish without any spice though because I'm sensitive to too spicy. I was going to go to another place to get biryani but I forgot how to get there and then remembered biryaniz! I've driven past here so many times but have yet to try them out. I don't think they were actually open for lunch but the door was unlocked and I happened to walk inside lol. I ordered the mutton biryani and samosas to go. The food came out in less than 10 min. We took the food home and was so surprised by the generous portion. The samosas are huge and I could only eat half of one. An order came with 3. The biryani here is delicious, I forgot to order spicy but I think the food here is automatically made spicy, the more I ate the spicier it got. They also packaged 3 sauces to eat with the food. As someone who craves biriyani on a weekly basis, I'm constantly in search of the perfect biriyani. I first visited this establishment about 5 years ago with my coworkers. We ordered the "Vijayawada Special" along with a couple other dishes. As the only Indian origin person in the group, I was excited and thrilled that folks were willing to try out something new. My attempt to impress my colleagues with the level of heat that I could handle was obviously a misguided one. After taking a few bites out of the Vijayawada special, we all turned into VIP- Violet, Indigo, Purple- in the face. Some of us were tearing up so bad, we almost saw our ancestors. Needless to say, I did not return to this place by choice for so many years. I accidentally came across this place one night when Google directed (tricked) me since it was open late. When I walked in, the memories came flooding back and I realized that I was back in the dragon's mouth. This time, I asked for the least spicy version of their biriyani and the lady upfront recommended the "special chicken biriyani". I took the order home, just in case I needed to empty a fire extinguisher in my mouth. Verdict: it was nothing special. It was not authentic. Ive been to the biryaniz in Milpitas many times. This was my first time going to the Dublin location. Biryaniz is a solid choice for Indian food in my opinion. We ordered the chicken tikka masala, Gobi Manchurian, vijayawada chicken biryani, chicken 65 and plain naan. The biryani was definitely my least favorite item that we got. The chicken was really salty and the flavor seemed a little off. My favorite thing with the Gobi Manchurian. This was the dish that was the most flavorful, had a nice crunch, but be warned it is quite spicy. My second favorite dish was the plain naan. It was so soft and chewy; it was just perfect for dipping in the chicken tikka masala. Then lastly, the chicken tikka masala and chicken 65. Both were decent dishes. If you never had chicken tikka masala before it's almost like tomato basil soup with Indian spices. The chicken 65 reminded me of popcorn chicken with Indian flavoring. Typically, the experiences that I've had with Biryaniz is that they take forever to make your food (over an hour sometimes at the milpitas location); however with this place, by the time we ordered and picked up everything was ready. read more

Interesting variety of very spicy biryani. I love me some flavored rices. Biryani stands at the top when it comes to spice. They were out of the more common hyderabadi dum biryani when we visited, but that meant we had to try some of the other varieties and honestly I was glad we did. I did not know biryani could vary so much! The fish vijayawada biryani was super spicy, but the fish was both crispy on the outside and moist and flaky on the inside. Truly delicious. The amaravati chicken biryani was very interesting too. Tamarind chicken gravy on the bottom, white basmati rice on top. Different, but good. Also spicy. There is no respite here. We have decided to only stick to their special chicken briyani as it is the least spicy dish. I don't understand how they could make their dishes extremely spicy, like burning your mouth, throat, and stomach spicy! We couldn't taste actual flavors because of how spicy their dishes were. We threw them all away. 5 stars for easy order placement and quick pick-up time, and they don't DEMAND tips, which makes it easier to tip them for their good works. I don't know about the cleanliness of their bathrooms currently, years ago (6 years ago). It was horrific. However, they have revamped their interior, and I guess the restroom? But I don't know about that. We just stick to pick-ups only. We will keep returning for the one dish as long as they don't make it ridiculously spicy like the others. I stopped by for the first time for a lunch pick-up on 4/6/22 (Wed), when I was particularly craving for butter chicken. I ordered online for: samosa, butter chicken, garlic naan and Guntur chicken palou. When I picked up the order, I was told that the palou was only available on Fri/Sat/Sun. They allowed me to substitute with another 'special biryani' on the menu. I chose the 'biryaniz special chicken biryani'. I waited another 10 minutes for the dish. I would've appreciated a call beforehand to let me know. But good thing I didn't have anything pressing except hunger, so I didn't much mind. -Samosas- it came in 3pcs per order. It had good flavor, crispy and good ratio of dough and filling. I just wished it came with the usual tamarind sauce and mint sauce that I like dipping them in. -Butter chicken- each order already came with basmati rice which was a plus! Dish had good flavors that I am used to with other restaurants, with a blend of sweet/sour & creamy tomato sauce. I also like that it had enough chicken pieces and plenty of extra sauce for dipping my naan. -Garlic naan- I am used to getting warm, soft toasted bread with some garlic infused oil and bits of fresh garlic on top. But this came plain and oddly dry & crispy. I didn't want to call back and complain this time. My patience have grown even bigger during this pandemic. -Special Chicken Biryani- this might be less in price than the palou I paid for, but I didn't want the hassle of getting a refund so I was willing to forgive. But this was the star of the show that forgave all that was missed/lacking on my order. The perfectly caramelized onions on top added flavor to the dish. Even without the onions, I think the dish was well prepared and full of flavor! The dish earned this place some 4 stars. Overall, despite what was missed, I would come back and try other dishes on the menu. Happy to support local businesses and understanding that everyone is still just reeling from the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic.
