When I say, we found the perfect spot, we found the perfect spot. They were playing music, but not at that stupid loud volume that everybody seems to think they need to play music in a venue where you want to have a meal with friends or a cup of coffee and chat. It was there, but not intrusive. It was a great combination of eclectic without that mainstream pablum that you hear in every Starbucks, every elevator, every doctors office, everywhere. They had a wonderful selection of coffee and all of it was very reasonably priced. The staff was lovely; greeted me immediately and went out of their way to be kind. We found a great table and we were able to play and never felt like we were taking up too much space. Other people found their tables and everybody was very friendly. The decor was funky and just what I want from a café. They had food and pastries that I didn't get a chance to try, but my mocha with oat milk was fantastic. I'm sure you've never heard of him because you're too young, but we worked for JAQUES MAXIMUM. A little Napoleon that could get the same results even better results without screaming constantly! Nothing like being the only woman in the kitchen and having a bunch of Frenchman, screaming obscene words at you in both English and French. Why I tolerated that I still don't know I really wanted to learn. I was on the line with Alfred Portale, and was his commis. He opened his extremely successful restaurant after Jacque decided he had had enough and went back to France. He came every two weeks straight from the airport and started screaming before he even saw anyone down the long hallway. I'm truly not kidding. Alfred warned me don't look the CHEF in the eye. I think that's the first thing he ever said to me. Then the Anita Hill hearings happens and the backlash was incredible. They would sexually harass me every day and then ask me was I going to sue them? I'm not a violent person, but I felt like taking a kitchen knife and never mind. This was my first job in a good Kitchen and the manager had cocaine running out of his nose when he was telling me that I was only worth three dollars an hour. I didn't go to some fantasy school. I went to the school of hard knocks. My husband and I spoke to Mark a very nice guy, at least to us. Most people don't want to get any feedback and that's a big mistake. We gave him. Our feedback thanked him and left it at that he thanked us as well. We really were restaurant consultants. It's so easy to see what's wrong in the kitchen and what's dangerous in the kitchen at first glance and then when you dig deeper, oh my gosh, it's a wonder we even eat out anymore. If people saw what went on behind the scenes, they would never ever eat out, but we know ROOT 2 RISE is not we repeat not like that. You also sell some great crackers. We can't find anywhere else. We kept the box it is called BETTER BUCKWHEAT. ABSOLUTELY DELICIOUS AND NOT TERRIBLY OVERPRICED. I think someone might be making mistake when stalking the shelves for crackers and other snacks. Two wonderful ladies were sitting right in front of where the snacks are and when they started looking, we found a few items that are not vegan at all. We don't know how to send this privately, otherwise we would. Phone is terribly compromised. We love your Restaurant and wanted to succeed more than you can believe. We both have been vegan since 1996. We were both vegetarians at about age 11. We really appreciate your great work. Sorry we are terrible at technology and also the phone. She ain't so great.

I'm not really a juice or smoothie person, but I was craving a thirst and that really felt like it would hit the spot (or at least something). There are a couple of smoothie places in WP so I decided to whip out Yelp to see which was the closest. Freckle's Juice was close by so I decided to order from them. First off, I had no idea that this was a Bronx-based business - that made me extra excited to try one of their selections. Browsing the menu, they have a nice variety of smoothies and juices and also guide you as to the benefits of some (immune boost, protein, etc). I was browsing and their Berry Pink stood out. This was one of their monthly specials and had a mix of strawberry, peach, orange, chia seeds, almonds, and coconut water. The smoothie was really good; the flavors worked well together and was still nice and cold even though I ordered delivery. Overall I was really impressed with Freckle's. While I seldom go for a smoothie, it's nice to know that this Bronx-born businesses has expanded to White Plains. I would definitely return for another beverage and to explore more of their menu.

My daughter took advantage of Freckles' 2-day Groupon deal and used it as her New Year's detox liquid boost. Turns out, her 6 Green Juices+6 Alkaline Smoothies were everything she wanted. Easily head to this City Center location in downtown White Plains on Level 3 to get your take-away pressed juices, smoothies or shots. The kid easily picked up her 12-pack with a complimentary reusable bag at that. I'd ask if this location also serves savory items like soups and bites similar to their Bronx location. There was a 'pick-up-by' hiccup with my daughter's order- but folks here managed to fixed that ASAP. There was some confusion from my daughter's part where she didn't select the correct location- but again, folks here prepped a brand new 12-pressed juice and smoothie pack to pick up New Year's Eve with no hassle. Thank you! I like this brand and particularly dig that a fly-by-night fluke doesn't own this company making it seem as if they're cut out for running a juice spot.

I stopped by this local juice bar tucked away in a corner of Englewood's bustling Palisades Ave. It's a small, but cute spot. Very clean and bright with lots of natural lighting. There's a few stools/bar seating facing the windows, but this is more of a grab-and-go place. The menu is straightforward. Of course you can expect prices to be higher $$ for organic ingredients. They sell smoothies, meal replacement shakes, cold-pressed juices, and wellness shots. There's a large variety of fruits, vegetables, and superfood add-ons. In addition to drinks, they also have a limited food/snack menu - smoothie bowls, salad, soup, protein bites, overnight oats, impossible burger, etc. They even sell sea moss! Everything is fresh. There's plenty of vegan options. Service was standard and quick. I wish the employee was more interactive and enthusiastic. I told her it was my first visit, and she didn't really give me too many recommendations or explain the menu/products very well. I ordered a small McKay Madness smoothie (~$9) and berry chia seed pudding (~$5). The smoothie had mango, pineapple, banana, kiwi, and coconut water. The consistency was smooth and not too thick. It was refreshing and not sweet. Not the best smoothie I've had, but it did the job. The chia seed pudding was a satisfying snack, but I wish it had more flavor and sweetness to it. The texture was perfect, but it just tasted bland. I added a bit of honey on my own to enhance the flavor. I would come back to try more smoothies and juices if I'm craving one.

Tonight I wasn't hungry for diner but wanted a little something so I got my husband to drive me, he parked in the town hall lot and waited in the car. The inside is very bright and welcoming, as was the woman who helped me. They have an extensive menu of smoothies, teas and some waffles and donuts - all seem freshly made to order. I went with the banana split smoothie, though I'm not sure how much real banana was in there and think the flavor perhaps had come from the protein powder but I didn't watch her make it so I'm not sure. I like that if looked exactly like the picture when served and tasted good. My husband got the 'tropical' which is mango and pineapple, I asked for the addition of strawberries and spinach and that was no problem. I was ready to pay and to my surprise, she tells me 'today is buy 2 get one free'!!! Score for me, so I went with the Oreo cheesecake shake. It tasted good, again though I'm not sure where the flavor comes from, because I don't think there's real cheesecake or Oreo in it. I gave them 4 stars because the parking is a real challenge and I'm not sure what exactly the flavor comes from and what fruit is actually used in it and I don't know how they keep the drinks 200 calories. However, I will definitely be going back again and can't wait to try out the teas!
