Dan Dan Noodles
Amit R.

Fantastic choice for those craving authentic vegan gluten free food. The food quality never disappoints. They offer seasonal items to keep things interesting. The Dan Dan Noodles is my absolute favorite. It is filling and savory! This is my go to spot each time I am in NY. The chocolate chip cookies are the best I've had anywhere. They melt in your mouth, with 0 guilt. The service is always top notch. Staff is always polite and knowledgeable. The place has a super positive vibe. Keep up the good work! Wish there were places like this in Florida.

I have an obsession with Root 2 Rise. I've had the pleasure of visiting twice for food, (I live about an hour away) and everything is so fresh and vibrant, healthful and delicious. It leaves me feeling energized and satisfied. I've also ordered breads from them which I freeze and use as I need. They freeze so well! As do the cookies! The choc chip cookies here blow my mind. And I feel good after I eat them! My favorite dishes are the yellow lentil soup, samosas, and buffalo tofu pizza. Staff are always friendly and helpful. And the place is very cute with a little area with snacks and goodies to purchase.

Receipt for several items

The establishment is very quaint, modern, and clean. I was immediately greeted by the front desk staff with a smile as I came in to pick up my order. They were timely with preparing my order. Now onto the food... sigh... First, they gave me the wrong muffin. I ordered a double chocolate muffin, but I believe they instead gave me some kind of pumpkin apple muffin. I spent about 70+ dollars just so my partner and I can try several different items from the menu. Pumpkin Apple muffin - moist on the inside but dry on the outside. Very mild in flavor and sweetness. 3/5 Apple Cider Donut - also dry overall and very mild in sweetness and flavor 3/5 Chickpea Tuna Crostini - probably the best out of all of the items I got. I just wish there was more depth to the flavor. It needs more balance. The ingredients stated that there's nori but I felt like I just tasted salt 4/5 Black Daal - taste was good but overall flavor and spice were just mild and lacking compared to other black daals I've had. And the naan that it came with just looked like prepackaged flatbread from a fancy organic grocery store. 3/5 Mac & Cheese - literally probably one of the worst vegan Mac & cheeses I've ever had. There were literally big chunks of old bread that were supposed to be "breadcrumbs." Usually breadcrumbs are nice because it adds a nice crisp or crunch to the top of Mac and cheese, but this was soggy. The flavor was just off. They should just stop making this. 0/5 Falafel bowl - also very disappointing because it's one of the more expensive items. Falafels are big but size doesn't matter when quality is lacking. They were so dense and dry that we couldn't even eat them. I ate the rest of the bowl because I love veggies but it was basically just salad with a bunch of pickled veggies. I'd give it a 2/5 just because I ate the rest of the salad, but my partner would give it a 0/5. We expected a whole lot better for the price we paid, but it is what it is.

Gluten free plain bagel with vegan herbed cream cheese and avocado. a cold brew with oat milk

Such a great spot - everything is vegan and gluten free. A wide variety of foods-- sweet and savory. Indoor and outdoor seating. As well as some grab-and-go items, including candy, popcorn, and even jarred goods. They don't carry almond milk, so oat milk it is! Which is fine by me but I know some of my ibs besties may have issue with that. The bagel is crispy on the outside, chewy on the inside! What a treat to be able to order a bagel out. They don't skimp on the vegan cream cheese either, which makes it feel all the more authentic New York style! It gets quite slippery so I ended up eating mine open-faced. They also have soups, muffins, scones, salads, burgers, bowls, chia pudding... Any craving, they have you covered. I'll definitely be back for more!!

Was not impressed by this spot. I hate writing bad reviews for vegan spots, but the food was just bland and VERY overpriced. I've had much better quality and value at similar places in Manhattan. The service wasn't the best either. Cute atmosphere and easy parking though.

I'm by no means vegan, but this place ROCKS if you're looking for plant based and gluten free options. This little cafe recently opened, and is run by two very well seasoned chefs. I tried a bunch of items like the plant based burger, vegan "grilled cheese", and the Dan Dan Bowl. The Dan Dan Bowl is next-level good. It's bursting with tahini and lime flavor, crunch from the peanuts and vegetables, and warm temperature from the plant based noodles. I would go out of my way for this.

All my dreams have come true, now that I have found Root2Rise! Absolute amazing!! The chocolate covered cookie thing is just the best thing I have ever eaten!!

I came here for a dinner with family I haven't seen in a while. We met on a Saturday evening at…read more7pm. I am vegetarian and while they have a bunch of veggie appetizers I was disappointed in the complete lack of any vegetarian entree. It's 2026. They have some creative cocktails, GF tried the margarita and liked it enough that she ordered a second. I ordered something with a cheeky name that I believe had vodka and something citrusy/floraly that I also enjoyed. Something kind of strange though, maybe 5-10 minutes after ordering our drinks, another person came over and said "the person who took your drinks didn't get the last 2 so what did you order?" People make mistakes, I get it. Idk how anyone remembers shit anyway but maybe write it down? Either way, it felt strange that someone else came over to say that. It just felt odd. Fortunately our drinks came but we had to flag someone down to order that second margarita later. I ordered the cauliflower and kale soup and the cauliflower fritters mainly because they were 2 of the very limited things I could order but the waiter was a little judge judy (cauliflower soup AND cauliflower fritters?) yes, my guy. The cauliflower and kale soup was under salted which I actually appreciate. I hate when anything is over-salted to the point of drowning out the other flavors. I am impressed by their confidence in the soup to NOT do that but it didn't really stand on its own and was a touch bland. The fritters, on the other hand, were sensational. That roasted beet aioli was delicious and the crispness of the outside of the fritters was a lovely texture. 3/4 of us got our food at least 5 minutes before the last person which is not ideal. Portions were also surprisingly small for the prices.

My husband and I liked the food here, some dishes were great and some were just okay. We started…read morewith the mussels in white-wine and they were great, especially the French fries. We also got the tuna tartare, which was just ok. I wish there was a sauce that went with it. The burrata crostinis were also just ok, there wasn't enough burrata and too much fig. My husband got the braised short rib and again that was just okay. We ended with the banana bread pudding which was amazing.

I found myself at Freddy's to celebrate my dad's birthday. He was in the mood for a burger and…read moreafter searching the Westchester area we ultimately landed here. The pics, reviews, and menu all seemed to point towards a yes - so off we went. Freddy's is located within the main commercial hub of Pleasantville. It's not a large restaurant, but holds a decent amount of seating with tasteful and laid-back decor. We were there right at opening at 4:30p, so it wasn't crowded but started filling up as time progressed. The menu is mostly American - arranged by apps, salads, entrees, sides, and desserts. I decided to start with the burrata which was served with diced butternut squash, brown butter, and grilled bread. This was...not what I was expecting. Burrata usually comes as an intact sphere that you cut open to reveal the soft cheese inside. This was already broken, and served in an almost deconstructed way. It honestly looks like a way to cut corners as it was definitely not a whole burrata. That, and the lack of flavor do not make it worth the $17 they charge. My main was better - I ordered the smoked chicken which was a breast on the bone and came with grits, spinach, and honey au jus. This was tasty - the chicken was juicy with crispy skin, and the au jus added a welcome sweetness to the grits and spinach. We opted for dessert because birthday - I chose the carrot cake which was just okay. No nuts, raisins, or noticeable carrots - so, a spice cake? As a side note, we were there during HV Restaurant week, however in lieu of a dedicated menu they offered a prix fixe app/entree/dessert off their menu. It sounded great at face value, but then we were told the portions would be smaller - and for items they couldn't shrink they up-charged if we ordered off the regular menu. IMO, not the best way to do restaurant week - either have a dedicated menu for it or don't participate at all. That being said, we decided to order off the regular menu. Service was good, everyone was friendly and food came out at a good pace. Overall, Freddy's sent me mixed signals - the food wasn't bad, but this isn't a place I would go out of way to try again - it's more of a local spot in my perspective. If circumstances found me here again, though, I wouldn't be mad.

Whoa where did this place come from?…read more We ordered from here for delivery last night. I couldn't believe it. Israeli Mexican fusion? GTFO. What an ingenious combination. There are so many things here that sound incredible but I ultimately went for a falafel bowl. You can choose a base which, if memory serves, was a selection of grains or kale, I went with the latter. It was very good. They throw on a deliciously flavorful sauce. I could probably eat anything bathed in sauce. GF ordered the shakshuka and ate the entire thing. She also ordered yuka fries but literally did not give me the chance to try any one of them. I also ordered fries, they were the small kind which I adore. They were a touch soggy for my liking but I plan on throwing the leftovers in an air fryer tomorrow. We ordered chocolate rugelach and babka which I have not yet had a chance to sample. Great place. I look forward to ordering from here again.

The mole has the traditional richness, but a slightly different flavor profile since they recently got Kosher certified and don't want to mix dairy with meat. They sell alcohol and have a small area with stools to dine in. There is a fireplace to warm up the restaurant. Stop in for great takeout or dine in!

The restaurant is small and cozy, wait staff was solid. They started with bread and oil which was a nice touch and offered a side soup or salad and both soups (Pasta e Fagioli & Lentil) were delicious. I ordered Eggplant from the pasta menu and received just a baked eggplant. The waiter took this opportunity to explain that it's accidentally under pasta (you would think upon ordering would be the best time to share this info ;). They were kind enough to bring me their other eggplant pasta. Penne, red sauce almost like a vodka sauce but darker and tiny bits of eggplant. My husband ordered rigatoni with meat sauce. He thought his was tasteless and I have to agree. Both dishes were passable but nothing to write home about. Their fish special however looked fantastic! I should probably share that growing up in the 80's near 18 Avenue in Brooklyn, I might be an Italian food snob! I'm not a good cook myself but I think I could have broiled pasta, opened up a jar of carbone and been just as happy with an extra $50 in my pocket, I might also be being harsh because this place gets superior ratings so we were hoping to be impressed and left disappointed.

If you are expecting a nice dinner with good service and a pleasant atmosphere do not go here. Firstly, my husband and I went to have a diner and a drink, we opted to sit at the bar, we sat at the very end corner of the bar, keep in mind the space between where we were sitting and back wall was minimal. A large family came in and as they were waiting for their table they squeezed themselves behind us with their kids practically sitting at the bar with us, we couldn't enjoy the rest of our meal because they kept bumping into us and yelling over us. That's not entirely the issue, the issue is how the bartender Tonianne and management conducted themselves. We told Tonianne that we would have loved to stay but it's very difficult to enjoy a meal. We understood it was busy but instead of apologizing and moving on Tonianne instantly got a very rude attitude and proceeded to go to her manager and talk crap about us in our faces, she even began pointing at us while talking crap. To make matters worse there was a discrepancy with our bill. The owner came over to us after Tonianne continued to talk crap about us in front of the whole bar with other patrons and he attempted to sort the discrepancy with us, once sorted he told us to "get out." I have never been kicked out of a restaurant before for making a comment about children at a bar, people bumping into us, and the inability to actually enjoy a meal because there isn't enough space in the restaurant for people to wait? Maybe get a better system in place to where every patron can enjoy the establishment and leave happy. And to the bartenders who feel it is appropriate to shame paying customers and talk crap about them in front of a whole restaurant I hope you learn to conduct yourself better and have some class next time a situation like this arises. Also.... We weren't the only ones complaining. What a terrible way to be treated.
