I have been waiting for this Shake Shack location to open ever since first seeing the announcement in 2018. So excited for it! It's so nice to have a location in Pasadena, so I don't have to drive to Glendale anymore. Wait wasn't too long since I ordered online. My only complaint is that they don't seem to have the Chicken Dog or Chicken Bites on the menu, like the other Shake Shacks do. Ordered fries and double shack burger. First thing you notice is how much butter is on the bun because it's glistening and shiny. First bite is heaven. But with subsequent bites, I realize it's salty and too oily and heavy. I just started tasting greasy buttery meat patties. The bun was a soppy mess. I don't know what shack sauce is because it's drowned in oil. If that's what you like in a burger, you've come to the right place. The orders take a long time to be prepared. Even when you get the order, there are missing items. I tried them through Doordash and even went in-person--experience was bad both the times. Got the truffle burger for $8.99, strawberry milkshake. Husband and mom got a regular burger, and 2 orders of fries. Truffle burger was pretty tasty. Mom enjoyed her burger too. No complaints about service or the quality of the food, unlike other reviews. Food came out in a timely fashion and hot. Our server even offered water for our dog. Taking off 1 star for value. The burger seems to have shrunk since the last time we came here. Yes, this place is quite pricey for the size of the burger. If you're looking for quality over quantity this is your place just don't order the fries you will be disappointed . I used to love the shroom burger at shake shack located in one of the LAX terminals. And so when I realized that there's a location in Pasadena, of course I ordered a shroom burger! Although it feels like the portion size is small compared to the price, I'd still go back :) The hot spicy fries were good too. Just as an aside: we ordered online and the pick up was super quick. Never been to a Shake Shack before this. Really poor. For the prices I kind of assumed these were going to be good quality burgers but no. Thought it'd be an In n Out comparison but it's more like a McDonald's comparison. Got a burger, chicken bites, fries and a shake. The burger - about $6 for something that's probably worse than what you could get at McDonald's for 99c. Not justified. Kind of couldn't believe it when I saw it. Chicken bites - picked the first one up and the breading fell off in my fingers! The rest were the same. Fries - fine, didn't mess them up at least. Shake - standard shake but again not justified for the price, only actually have 3 flavors so not sure why it's called Shake Shack. And beware if you're ordering pickup or delivery - they leave the food on a table on the patio outside so unless you are already there it will get cold. Cost me $25 for something you could get at McDonald's for about $11 (and worse quality). read more

I previously wrote a review prior to eating here based on just the lack of menu options. Today I ate there and I will NEVER go back again. Included is their Cha-Ching prices. A chicken sandwich, small fries and small drink for just under $15??? Is this some famous chicken I ate? Did I wake up in Beverly Hills or Monaco? I am not spending this much money for this ever again. One issue is they do not offer a combo. You buy every item separately which of course jacks up the price. I have other issues with just the general way they do things. Inside they have a sign that says CASH which makes you think they do not accept debit/credit cards. They do accept those but the sign is misleading and it ends up causing needless questions about if they only accept cash. Because of their small interior and the pandemic also, People must wait outside for their turn to go inside. Yet another deterrent. Regarding the food itself, DO NOT try to get fancy with mayo. We do not need "buttermilk herb mayo". Regular mayo is all that is necessary. In the end it is all about the price and you can forget all the other complaints I have. so i have eaten here a minimum of once a week since they opened, it's only 1/2 block from my pad and i love the hollyhood location, which is fantastic every.single.time. this pasadena location however is extremely hit or miss. i always get curbside pick up, 50% of the time i have to go to the window to get my order myself, which in reality isn't that big a deal, but curbside is offered, so, you know. half the time i order, my burger is luke warm when it hits my car and my shake is melted. today was one of those days i had to go to the window to get my order cause no one came to my car with it... my shake was visible melted and i said something about it... i got a blank stare, no apology, no offer to remake it... i just left... maybe i'll stop going to this location and trek to hollyhood since they seem to have their shit together read more

I've now been here twice. The first time was when they first opened and the second more recently. The food is always good (despite being higher priced, but the quality is better then the competitors). The experience however leaves a lot to be desired. At first I thought my first time experience was just due to opening kinks that needed to be worked out which was fine, but months later they still don't have the kinks worked out. Ordering through the app with pick up time is still way off. The second time my pick up was for 7 pm and there were tons of people spilled into the parking lot, not socially distanced. Very not safe. Everyone's order was ready at least 30-45 minutes after the listed pick up time. It's a shame because I love the product but this location just still doesn't have the kinks down. The staff looked too busy to answer questions and honestly looked over worked and stressed out. I ate my food in the car as soon as I got it and all the food was cold so I suspect it was ready but they just could t get the food out when it was ready and was likely sitting in the shelf. The parking lot has no exit so if you pull in and the lot is full you have to back out or find a way to turn around both of which are impossible when someone pulls in right behind you. I arrived just before rush hour, and was astonished to see a super small parking lot. Although, it is LA so that does make sense. They have markings on the ground to enforce social distancing but customers mostly ignored it anyways so eh. There were two ways to order, self check out and with a cashier. I tried both, and they were really easy. The self check out is actually really amazing, as they use an iPad for it so its super fast (no slow loading speeds). Waiting time for food (3 burgers, 3 fries, and 3 shakes) was no more than 5 minutes, so it was super fast for the amount of food we ordered. The shake was really good, fries were super fresh and crispy, and the burger tasted super fresh as well. This IS my first time at Shake Shack, and I will definitely be coming back. But the real question... Shake Shack or the local in-n-out? To be honest... In-n-out. The food was good but... it better be good for the 57 dollars spent on the meal. Staff was super friendly; they cleaned our table when asked and came to ask us if we needed anything (even though there are no servers at this location). Overall, would come again. Best to treat this place as a restaurant cause food quality definitely at that level. read more

I went around 1PM on a Saturday afternoon right after New Year's, during Shake Shack's BOGO offer. First time there, it WAS NOT pretty! The smallish, narrow parking lot was COMPLETELY filled with vehicles, with LOTS of people waiting around, thus making the parking lot even smaller and narrower! I had to wait a few minutes before a parking spot opened up, and the maneuvers people have to go through to avoid other cars and people in the parking lot is really nerve wracking! I opted for curbside pickup, but the Shake Shack app didn't ask for the make, model, and color of vehicle, so I got out of my car to wait for my order. Luckily, I got out of my car a few minutes before the order was ready, so mercifully I only had to wait a short time. Lesson learned... I rather park on the street than face that zoo of a parking lot EVER AGAIN! As for the burgers, they were tasty, but nothing special like an In-N-Out burger. I'll be going back sporadically, probably only when there's a special going on like this time! read more
