Service is not the quickest if were to compare Shake 'N Buns' drive-thru to say a McDonalds drive-thru. More on par with In-N-Out timewise. That said, their plant-based popcorn chicken is bomb. Made well, great textures. What a rare find for me as a vegan and perfect road trip snack. Buffalo sauce was the only vegan option they had for sauce and it was a great combo. Lady helping us at the window was very courteous . Carnivore husband got a regular cheeseburger and deemed it mediocre. Also commented there was no sauce. Decent unhealthy fast-food with a lot of plant based options. Impossible burgers taste good but the actual patty is very thin. The fries seasoned in part with MSG taste great and one order is good enough for two people. Plant based hot dogs are too salty for my taste. Crushed ice is used in their fountain drinks. This place was delicious. We stopped on the way back from Disneyland. Love it when places are actually super good had the California burger. Kids meals chicken tenders and burgers chocolate shake all yummy. And they have the good crushed ice in their soft drinks. Not your typical in and out drive through... this place had a wide variety of options to choose from (beef, chicken and veggie) with a multiple number of shakes and sodas to make your mouth water. On the road in the very blue collar Bakersfield. I wasn't expecting to find much. Some googling and I'm intrigued. Drove over to the joint. Just a drive through/walk up shack. Yep, vegan menu. Got my Impossible burger, buffalo fries (with vegan ranch), and a strawberry shake. All delicious. Did take them 5-8 minutes to make it, but I'll take that. Cooked well, presented fast food style, and as tasty as any other impossible burger you'll get at a pub. Not cheap (about $20), but that's in line with what this'd cost at a restaurant. So how did this happen? Well it's a single joint with some connection to another chain of fast food joints, but this is the only one with a vegan menu. Why? The owner's friend is vegan and told him to sell the impossible burger. He did, and it went well, so he added more vegan items, and more vegan items, and here we are. Thank you. If I were to find myself in Bakersfield again, I'd be back for the buffalo chik'n sammich and those chili teese fries. read more

I did really like the food, but they got our order wrong, and since it was an Uber wats order, it meant that a child did not get their food. I called them and they told me to come down to get the refund through the app. Did that, but they don't refund the tax. Whatever. It made everyone feel sick. We all had reasonable portions of different items... a burger, some chicken strips, a chicken sandwich, and some fries. For the next 8 hours we all felt extremely tired and sick to our stomachs. This is our go to burger joint. Everything is freshly made and always comes out delicious. I tend to order the Californian burger which comes with all the usually fixings (Patty, cheese, lettuce, tomatoes, and onions) and includes bacon, and avocado. The burger is always full of plenty of bacon and avocado. They're also very neat looking, literally. The burger never looks messy or squished. I order it with their crispy crinkled fries that are always nice and warm. As for my drink I always substitute the soda for a delicious pineapple milkshake (my favorite kind!). The milkshakes are always so thick and the pineapple one includes chunks of pineapple in it. They also offer onion rings which are some of the best I've had in town. This place is definitely worth checking out. There are two drive thru windows and there is a wait for your food but that's only because everything is made to order which I can deal with. read more

There are some tables outside though. Just drive up to order at the window or walk up to another window to place your order. Since I was coming from the plaza next door, I just walked up to the window. The menu consists of sandwiches, burgers, sides, salads, and shakes. Sandwich and burger prices ranged from about $4 to $6. Combo prices ranged from $6 to $9. On this visit, I decided to try their Philly Cheese Steak Sandwich combo meal. The fries were ordinary. The sandwich tasted quite good though, and I'd order it again. 3.5 stars for the food 2.5 stars for the atmosphere 2.5 stars for the service Bottom line is that I will return in the future someday. My husband follows a vegan diet so I took him to see what all the hype about the Impossible Burger was about. First of all let me say that this is the first burger place in Bakersfield to offer vegan cheese (2 types!) and vegan mayo. They also use a separate grill for the vegan burgers. Wow! The burger was the best vegan burger we've ever eaten, for me (an avid meat eater) it was hard to believe it was all plant based. My husband was even more in shock, he said it was absolutely perfectly crafted. I commend Shake N' Buns for offering a fully vegan option, as there are not many options at all here in town. We will continue to come here as long as the Impossible Burger is served. I suggest a vegan milkshake. Edit: they now have vegan soft serve ice cream and a vegan Oreo milkshake!
