I went to this place on a whim, I had no idea they opened at 11:00am on Saturday. I was visiting family and just happened to find this place on Google maps. I did not take any pics as I was absolutely starving when I got here. I had the double cheeseburger with fries and a Pepsi. When you think of a hole in the wall burger joint, this is exactly what you expect to see. The people that work here are always very friendly. The burgers and all the food is good and made to order. The ice cream sundaes, banana splits, and shakes are all delicious. And on top of all that, they have crushed ice for their sodas! The food was delicious! I had been going there for years. I had stopped going once they changed their name and stopped serving their delicious tacos. I decided to give them a try again and the burger and fries were good. My only complain was that I had ordered the burgers with cheese and they didn't come with it (we realized once we were done eating lol) but the food was so good, it didn't matter. The cashier girl was friendly and wasn't rude when I kept changing my mind which was a plus since I was indecisive. The place was updated from the lady time I had gone which was over 6 years ago. Actually these are the best burgers in Bakersfield Ca. Except if you remove ingredients from a burger . I love this place , my wife doesn't like Cheese or mayo - ketchup or pickles so this is the second time I asked to remove these from a Bacon Burger but the left it on . This is where we drew the line. All 3 ice creams tasted like spoiled milk. We had never had this experience with them before. Overall, the food is pretty good. We ordered through the drive thru. It was fast and our order was taken efficiently. The outside area was clean, well kept. The fries were super good, the Pops swirls were a nice treat (I got snickers and my folks got butterfinger). He also thinks they carry the best pink lemonade he's ever tasted. I ordered the blt and added avocado. The reason I took a star away from the review was because the bacon in my sandwich was way too hard. It made it almost unenjoyable but the creaminess of the avocado and the bread not being hard made it manageable. read more

Was in the drive in burger mood! This spot looked the part, so off we drive to Pops on Taft hwy. Not gonna lie, wasn't too impressed on first sight. It was in a pretty ruff looking area. Walked in and dining area was empty so that's usually a bad sign. Looked at the menu and was impressed with all the options. I was sold on the pastrami combo and I upgraded to zucchini sticks and added an ordered of taquitos. My wife got the burger combo and my son the usual chicken strips. We had a little snafu as they forgot wifeys fries. She went to let them know and at first they acted like they didn't believe her- which would've been pretty bad review wise! But luckily someone else over heard and brought my wife her fries. Thank god! First bite on my pastrami was a game changer! So good! Lots of pickles and stuffed with thin sliced pastrami! On 5/9/26 I placed an order to go 1shrimp basket, 2 chili dogs, Philly cheese steak and a Texas burger combo. I received my order. Upon arriving home I began passing out the food. I discovered that the Texas burger was not in the bag. I gave everyone their order with the exception of my wife. I told her that I would go back and get hers. As I was driving back I called and informed them that my order was short. When I informed the boy who answered the phone that my order was short he had a rude attitude and stated that he put the item in the bag and to check again. I told him that it was not there and I was on my way back to get it. This child then told me that I would have to bring the entire order back so he could see it wasn't in the bag. At this point I lost my temper at the stupidity of this child and we began to argue. So please check your bags to insure that child that supposedly works there gives you your complete order. But today my wife and I were tired and didn't want to cook so we went there and ordered 5 double cheeseburger combos, our burgers and drinks were fine but the fries were terrible, they tasted overcooked or recooked and were not edible. The young lady at the window was nice and professional but we were very disappointed with our food for paying $46 dollars and not be totally satisfied. Steak fries sounded great, especially because they boast Harris Ranch beef. But the chips of burnt beef seemed more like remnants of a scraped grill than pieces of actual steak being grilled and laid over fries. Also, this was the first time I experienced steak fries with shredded iceberg lettuce and tomatoes. The vegetables only served to wet and cool the fries shortly after receiving the order. I would suggest no lettuce or tomatoes, but the fresh avocado was good. My husband was happy with his double cheeseburger, so I would try that next time, if we're in the area and craving burgers.
