The jalapeno poppers were an excellent twist on the same old "deep fried with goat cheese" that's been around for years. These peppers were sliced, loaded, then baked, much like potato skins, and were an excellent appetizer. Perfect amount of "heat". We both ordered the chicken breast and ribeye combo with an assortment of sides, and it was really, really a great plate. Prepared well, served well, and portions so large, we each took leftovers home. Wonderfully seasoned and prepared meats, and all the sides were very good as well. If you're fortunate enough to land on a night when the soup du jour is split pea with ham, do not pass on this. One of the best pea soups we'd ever had. A+ on the meal, the quality of the food, the staff and service, and the beautiful view from our table at the window, overlooking the Kern River at sunset. But that's to one of the biggest kids menus I've seen, I was able to talk my son into some real restaurant food and not fast food for lunch. It was not busy at all. The hostess was really friendly and so was our waiter. We were immediately sat and given waters. I went with the poke salad and it was so good! Very filling and a lot bigger than it seems in the photo. The amount of tuna was great,they definitely did not short me on my dish. My son got the kids cheese pizza and he was very impressed by the stringiness of the cheese. It also came with a decent amount of fries and fruit. He also loved the dragon fruit lemonade. All in all just not a great tasting meal. After tip and tax $70 was the total and I feel disappointed tricked. I would ask the chef to please put a little more love into your food. If you are going to sauté mushrooms, use some butter, not cooking oil. Get a little flame on your steaks to bring out the flavor and let it acclimate a little bit before you throw it on the grill so it stays juicy. Use fresh vegetables, not frozen or cooked and reheated the next day. The service was great BTW. Only I could tell she knew I wasn't enjoying my meal, which is probably why she didn't ask me how I liked it. On the other hand I had an excellent meal at Broken Bit steakhouse not far from here the day before. The chef should go there and learn something. Oh yeah and my meal was $10 less there.

We took advantage of the HH $1.00 Oysters and each had a HH 50% off Smash Burger. Great presentation, the Oysters were very fresh and shucked clean. The burgers were amazing. We ordered and consumed a lot in the 4-5:00PM HH period and I will say shortly after 4:00 the place was filled. LOL, Needless to say, we never made it out for dinner and it was well worth it.
