Cornish hen with cornbread stuffing
Peedee B.

This place shock me. From looking at the outside I did not expect for the food to be so great along the drinks. They also had a jukebox which allowed me play the songs I like to hear. They have daily specials are on the board to choose from. The chicken noodle soup was homemade and the Cornish hen with a cornbread stuffing was to die for.

I heard the food was great at this little hole in the wall from a couple of people years ago. Never got a chance to visit. After much debate with my daughter, niece and sister about where to eat I suggested that we go here. When we walked in we were received with great hospitality by the patrons and the staff. You walk through the bar area and pool table to get to the "restaurant". Once we got to that area we was contemplating about eating there. It has that old smell and the place looks shabby although clean. "A hole in the wall" place. It took awhile for us to get service, but we wasn't in a rush so that was fine. The waiter said that remodeling will take place by the end of next month. Hopefully it won't take away the " homey" feeling. So let's get to the food. We ordered the shrimp appetizer, crab balls, fries and fried chicken dinner and a pork chop dinner to go. Both dinners came with two sides and two dinner rolls. The food was delicious. The shrimp was cooked perfectly. The chicken was well seasoned and juicy. The string beans were also well seasoned. I wasn't a big fan of the Mac and cheese hence the 4 stars. It was greasy and bland. The crab balls were also delicious with small amount of fillers if any at all. Fries were ok a little bland for me. I tasted a small price of the pork chop it was well seasoned but dry. If you are looking for a place to chill and have some good food I definitely recommend this place.

Well...I finally made my way to this spot and I can say not sure if I would be back. Now the…read morelocation is only about 10 mins from my house and has potential.... I got here around 4:45 and it was empty. I was the only person there from the time until I left around 7pm. There was a couple that had came in but they left quickly without ordering anything not sure why but they were out in about 10 minutes. There was only one waiter who informed me the bar tender would be in around 5:30 but she didn't get there until around 5:45. She did make up for it with a on the house lemon drop which was really good! So I ordered honey lemon wings and jollof spaghetti with shrimp. Now the wings and blue cheese were so hot and tasty!! But the jollof rice tasted like spaghetti with some bland sauce on it and shrimp tasted fishy not good at all. So the waiter suggested I order oxtail, plantains, and coconut rice which I ordered which I did. Everything but the rice was good. The rice didn't have any coconut flavor and was like some type of veggie rice concoctions. I would not recommend the rice, jollof spaghetti even the broccoli which was cold when I received my food. The restaurant is set up real cute and artsy but the food options need to be upgraded. And I did not like they charge a 18% gratuity on your bill even if you are by yourself. The restaurant was completely empty when I left so not sure how they are staying in business unless the crowed comes after 8pm. The only saving grace was the lemon drop was really good and the rum punch! Other than that besides the wings, small oxtails, blue cheese, and plantains I would not recommend. Also go during happy hour save a little bit but you still will get the 18% gratuity....smdh

I sat at the bar and was told they were waiting on the bartender but the manager (?) could make margaritas or lemon drops. I chose margaritas and while they actually were pretty good, the limited options were a little disappointing. I really enjoyed the Honey lemon wings (on the happy hour menu) and calamari, and I wish I could have tried the Suya bites but they were not available. Apparently they take an hour to prepare? I'm not sure why but I was sad I couldn't have them. I would possibly visit Bistro 64 again (for the wings), but absolutely at a different day/time. I'd be curious to see what it's like when the space is not empty.

When I tell you this was the best meal I had all month, I mean it. Look, I'm from Dallas and there…read moreare some good soul food restaurants around, but it's been a minute since I've gone to any of them because you just get stuck in a rut when going out to eat sometimes. Coming back to MD for work however means I get to Uber eats on the company dime. No, I don't want McDonalds or Chipotle. Oh, look! Carolina Kitchen! My favorite item to get at any southern/soul food restaurant is always smothered pork chops with greens and mac and cheese. I was a little surprised at how expensive the plate was here but after ONE bite of the mac and cheese, I realized that it was well worth it. Best mac and cheese I've had. First, when my delivery driver dropped off my plate I was thinking to myself, Dang, this is heavy! I only ordered one plate but it felt like 2lbs of food. When I opened the container I was pleasantly surprised that it was packed! Two pork chops (sauce on side, thank you), huge servings of mac and cheese and greens and a cornbread. All fantastic. I can't speak on the other items, but I know what I ordered was straight fire. It was so good that I told a co-worker to check it out when I returned back to my home office so they can experience the awesomeness.

I've ordered from Carolina Kitchen many times, and the food itself is usually very good. This time…read moreI ordered a full rack of BBQ ribs, a pork chop dinner with black-eyed peas and potato salad, a veggie platter, and peach cobbler. This was actually my first time trying the ribs, and they were really good! I get the pork chops regularly, and they were good as always. Unfortunately, there were some major issues with my delivery order today. My peach cobbler was completely missing, along with one of the sides from my pork chop dinner. When you're paying for a full order, everything you paid for should actually make it into the bag. But my biggest issue was the veggie platter. Apparently, the veggie platter comes with only TWO sides. I was charged $21 for it, yet individual sides are $7 each. So I could have ordered those exact same two sides à la carte for $14 instead of paying $21 for a "veggie platter." At first, I assumed that for $21, maybe the veggie platter came with two larger portions. Nope! They were the same small sides that can be ordered individually for $7 each. To make matters worse, the photo for the veggie platter shows THREE sides. Charging customers $21 for two regular sides that cost $14 when purchased separately is not okay. There is literally a $7 upcharge for calling two individual sides a "veggie platter," with nothing additional being provided. There is no reasonable reason why a customer should be charged $21 for $14 worth of food. That isn't just a pricing issue--I find that practice unethical, and ownership really needs to address it. And even if the veggie platter included a THIRD small side, three individual sides at $7 each would still cost exactly $21! So even then, there would be absolutely no benefit to ordering a "veggie platter" instead of simply ordering three sides à la carte. I enjoy Carolina Kitchen's food and will give credit where it's due--the ribs were good, and the pork chops are consistently good. But between missing my peach cobbler, missing a side from my pork chop dinner, and being charged $21 for what amounts to $14 worth of sides, this order was extremely disappointing. Future customers: Do NOT order the veggie platter! Just order the sides individually. Two sides will cost you $14 instead of $21. Ownership: Just remove the "veggie platter" from the menu altogether. Two small sides cost $14 individually. Three small sides cost $21 individually. So even if you added a third side to the platter, it would STILL just equal the regular à la carte price of three sides. There is no value whatsoever in this being a separate $21 menu item. Just remove it!

My husband and I dined here early afternoon yesterday to catch the college game day games. I ordered a simple salad and the grilled salmon and grilled shrimp definitely great highly recommend if you want something a little more fulfilling than just a burger and fries. The service, our waiter Steven he was on point definitely attentive and made sure we were good throughout our dining experience. The Ambiance I love it here! I love the TVs all around I love the wrap around bar the high top seating, booth seating is just a great layout. Parking didn't have an issue there so not sure that becomes an issue. The restaurant was pretty steady despite the rainy weather. We did witness a few people waiting in the lobby but didn't affect us. The seating around the bar is first come first serve so we were able to grab two seats without an issue. If you're in the area check out the sports bar. IMO it's more of an Upscale hangout/Restaurant sports bar. Definitely worth your time... Have fun and enjoy life:)
