Vibe: Hidden gem for sure. One of those spots that surprises you once you actually try it…read more Food: The red honey chicken was fire, nice kick to it without being overpowering. Chicken came out hot and fresh, waffle fries were seasoned well, and the waffle, honestly tasted more like a funnel cake and was way better than a regular Belgian waffle to me. Service/Timing: Food came out hot and fresh, which already puts them ahead of a lot of places. Value: $20 for a 4-piece meal, basically two sides, a drink, plus an extra waffle was a solid deal. Highlight: Chicken!! Wrap-Up: Definitely a spot I'd go back to. Good portions, flavorful food, and way better than expected. Hidden gem status earned.

We ordered the salmon and shrimp bento box, the chicken and shrimp bento box, and the shrimp and salmon with noodles. The food arrived piping hot, the aroma filled the house, and everything tasted incredibly fresh. If you're choosing between entrées, spend the extra few dollars on the bento box. It comes loaded with a California roll, spring rolls, and a few dumplings. The Yum Yum sauce is the perfect sweet-and-spicy balance and pairs beautifully with the teriyaki. One things is that the shrimp are not abundant so order extra, I think we had about 8 in each order, a bit of a bummer. I was honestly shocked to learn this isn't a sit-down restaurant because the food tastes like a full kitchen crew is back there working magic. If you're craving something fresh, flavorful, and delivered hot--THIS IS THE ONE!

The only thing I needed was some crusty french bread to enjoy the broth. The broth was super flavorful and the mussels were fresh. I decided on the lamb rigatoni for dinner. It had just the right amount of spice and the portion was large enough that I took some home after enjoying the appetizers. Our server was awesome. He was friendly and engaging from the moment we walked in. He knew the menu and made great recommendations.

This was my first visit to Kitchen Savages. I had tried walking in without a reservation once before on a Saturday evening, and there were no seats available. So my first recommendation would definitely be to make sure you make/have a reservation because they do get busy (understandably so)!! Overall our brunch experience was good! I started off with the Mimosa Sampler for my drink order; I wanted to try the different flavours that were on offer. These were nice, but I'd hoped the presentation would have been a little better and the mimosas not as heavy with the juices. The food was great! Super tasty and packed with flavour. My husband had the Peach Cobbler French Toast and I ordered the 'Create-Your-Own' pasta. I requested it with salmon, shrimp and spinach, but it only came with the shrimp and spinach. Such a shame, because I can imagine the salmon would have made the dish EVEN better. When the bill came, it had the salmon (which I never got) listed on it - after pointing this out, the server checked with the kitchen, and kindly removed it from the bill. Overall, I would say that we really enjoyed brunch here. I will definitely be back in the future to try the main dinner menu & hopefully there'll be no mixups with what I order and what I get .

Yellow Bun & Chocolate Kitchen: Our Father-Daughter Quest for Burger Greatness…read more My daughter and I were back on our mission to find the best burger spots in the DMV. This time, we chose Yellow Bun & Chocolate Kitchen, mostly because their food pictures had us ready to risk our budgets and our diets. When we walked in, the menu surprised both of us. It was huge -- burgers, grilled cheeses, ice cream, cupcakes, cakes in bottles. My eyes immediately locked onto the desserts like they owed me money. I was so distracted by the sweets that my daughter had to take charge of the ordering. She knows how I get around sugar. After a few rounds of debate, we finally settled on: Lamb Burger Seafood Grilled Cheese Oreo Cookie Cupcake Snickerdoodle Cupcake Strawberry Shortcake While we were placing the order, I started talking to Naimah (hoping I spelled that right). I asked her if the food was good, and she hit me with a confident, energetic "YES." I told her if it wasn't, I'd be talking about her -- and she laughed like she knew she was safe. I could see the women in the kitchen working in their uniforms, focused and moving with purpose. That always gives me hope. Good food usually comes from people who look like they care. After a short wait, our food came out packed to go, but even through the containers, the aroma was strong enough to make us both hungry all over again. Everything passed the eye test -- visually perfect. We split both sandwiches. The Lamb Burger went first... and wow. It was beyond outstanding. I was blown away. My daughter isn't a lamb lover at all, but even she admitted it was really good -- which tells you how strong that burger was. This was clearly a homemade lamb patty -- juicy, seasoned, and paired with feta like it was meant to be. My mouth is watering again just thinking about it. Hands down the juiciest lamb burger I've ever had. Next was the Seafood Grilled Cheese. It was good, but something was missing. We added the sauce, which helped, but it still needed a little something to make it great. The shrimp was cooked perfectly and seasoned well. The crab was lump, but it didn't stand out. My daughter said it needed a tomato to balance the flavors -- and honestly, she was right. A tomato might be the missing piece. Then came my favorite part: dessert. The Strawberry Shortcake was great, but I needed more whipped cream. That's just who I am. The cupcakes, though? Outstanding. Moist cake, melt‑in‑your‑mouth texture, frosting that complimented instead of overpowering. They were the kind of cupcakes that make you close your eyes for a second. We'll definitely be back to Yellow Bun & Chocolate Kitchen to try more things. And yes -- Naimah is safe. I don't need to name‑drop her in shame.

I found this place while I was visiting another business nearby…read more The name Yellow Bun and Chocolate got me. I thought it was a dessert place. But, I walked in and found that they actually have an array of savory items as well. First things first, it's carryout so no place to dine. But the service is awesome. I've been a few times and have gotten a different person every time and they have all been really helpful and kind. I met the owner the first time who recommended the Turkey Club as it's one of their headlining items and remarked that they serve all day breakfast as well. After trying a few items, I can say that they rarely miss. My favorites are: *Yellow Cupcake with Chocolate Icing. Pretty simple but it's my favorite type of cupcake and it never disappoints. *Brioche Bacon, Egg and Cheese. The eggs were fluffy, the sandwich was flavorful and filling. I've a had a few from different places and this is at the top for me. *Turkey Club. I have no complaints about this one. I've ordered it a few times and enjoyed it every time. It doesn't come with a side but you really don't need it. All in all, I'm a repeat customer so I order from them from time to time and have recommended them as well.

For my takeout order, I got the chicken with rice and beans, along with the Brussels sprouts and carrots. The Brussels sprouts are my favorite! Now...I have been kind of lazy last year a little this year and have not actually went inside even though I live less than 10 minutes away from here. So being the hungry lazy woman I am I ordered twice through Grubhub. I always order had dark because besides the wings I don't like white meat just be too dry! The sides plantains which are cooked so well, green beans are so damn good with the garlic and onions!! I've tried usually white rice and black beans or this time I tried the fried chicken rice and beans and things where I messed up. The chicken fried rice was so dry..uggggh they must use the breast meat because it was not good at all. So that was a one and done for me as a side because it sounds so good...but next time try thigh meat or something so it won't be so dry. I also tried the chicken wings and blue cheese which were very good as well. Besides the green beans which will be forever my side I'll try the mashed potatoes next time. And a side of plantains as well! Maybe I'll venture out and try a few other items one day. But for now I'll stick with what I know! A solids 3.75 stars!
