A cute spot for Chinese hotpot! Nothing japanese shabu about this place but that's ok. The ingredients were fresh and thorough cleaned. Combo meat prices felt a tad bit pricier than most other places but all the other a la carte menu items seemed to be on par pricing wise with other spots. Didn't feel rushed to eat and pay either. You have to sit at a table and not at the bar if you want to do a duo of soup bases. The sirloin steak was very tender and I liked how they laid out the various ingredients in tiny portioned plates for you to make your dipping sauce at your table. Also tried the manilla clams with black bean sauce app and only one out of a good portioned plate of them had gritty sand in it. I will definitely be back when passing through this area again! read more

One of the best spots on allergy awareness and dietary restrictions I've come across when it comes to hot pot! Everything is clearly marked on the menu and the waitress was so kind to offer me gluten-free soy sauce and update the soup base so it contains no gluten. The portion on the combos were great and the price was quite reasonable. Vegetables were fresh, meat was delicious, soup base was simple (a bit plain as others have mentioned) but I tend to dislike too many chemicals and additive ingredients in my hotpot, so the simple broth is fine w/me. I think a simple chicken bone/broth base or even a veggie stock base would make it more flavorful though. Also love how they're blasting warm air as you walk into the courtyard (so nice for the winter) along with festive decor for the holidays! read more

The food here was so delicious and we loved the experience. We had the lamb and chicken protein and the kimchi and schezwan broths.

I had never heard of Shabu in Quincy until I saw it on instagram and thought it was a new restaurant. I saw they have a lunch buffet deal which is $39 for all you can eat hotpot. It is a very small restaurant with a bar area and probably 6 tables inside but thankfully when I went there were a few tables open. The price does not include the broth and they have some good options to pick from. I got the szechuan spicy and miso broth, which were both solid. I tried the sirloin beef, fatty beef, and regular beef and the sirloin beef was some of the best hotpot meat I have had. For $39, it may seem a little bit pricey but the quality of the ingredients is very high. The sirloin beef was better than some a la carte meat I have had at premium hotpot places. I got my usual hotpot ingredients such as noodles, watercress, enoki mushrooms, and different types of tofu and all were good. They don't have a sauce bar like they do at Chinese hotpot but they have a few ingredients where you can make your own sauce which although it was simple, was very tasty. This place is really good but I wish they did dinner buffet since I prefer other places for a la carte hotpot. Overall, really solid spot, friendly and quick service, and it was a satisfying meal. read more

Love this place! It's surprisingly good! I was hesitant about paying everything for each single portion and item, but it turned out to be a good experience and quite decent! I was fully and happy and paid ~$60 for two people! There were two of us for dinner! We ordered regular broth and Tom yum broth! Tom Yum Broth was good!! We ordered a "meat combo supreme and a seafood platter combo". Each combo comes with a vegetables plate and one type of noodles! So we got two vegetables plates and two types of noodles from ordering two combos! We got udon and Japanese ramen noodles as part of the combo! The meat quality was excellent! The seafood was great! Service was good! Place was clean! We were treated nicely! We did not have to wait long for a table! It was a good experience and I'm happy to pay! read more

Cute intimate hotpot, inside is more quiet and softer vibe with bar seating. Staff and service was so friendly and helpful with reccomendations. This place would do better with groups of 2-6 most. Drinks: Beer, wine, sake, and soju only. No cocktails or hard alcohol. Hotpot: The traditional cuprits to choose from, the sichuan broth and tomato was our favorite. You can get up to 3 combos. The house was just okay, nothing special. The combos were wonderful, we enjoyed more of the steak than the seafood combos and options. We literally ate every single thing we ordered, there was nothing left. Such a fun spot to come, would definitely reccomend. read more

If I could be more precise I would rate this a 3.5 star but i'll be generous since i'm a bit spoiled when it comes to hot pot. Parking around here can be iffy but there's a free public parking lot around the corner (across the street from Taipei Cuisine). First thing to note is that this restaurant is SMALL. If you have a large group make sure to get here early otherwise you'll be waiting! We had 7 in our party and this is what we ordered along with the price as of 1/20: 2 vegetable broth - $3.50 each 2 Tonkotsu broth - $4.50 each Sirloin beef combo - $24.50 Fatty beef combo - $20 Meat Combo Supreme - $25 Beef tongue (ala carte) - $9 Sirloin beef (ala carte) - $16.50 Fatty beef (ala carte) - $12 Fish tofu - $4 2 Flying Fish Roe Ball - $5 each Assorted Seafood Meatballs - $5 3 rice bowls - $2.50 each Japanese Ramen Noodles - $4 Overall the food quality was good especially for the meat with nice cuts of decent thickness. Tonkotsu broth was also good with a nice pork flavor to it. Service was decent considering how packed the place is. Ventilation isn't very good so be prepared to have your clothing smell like hot pot until you wash them! So why the 3.5/4 star rating? It comes down to the price. We had to order 3 meat ala carte items with some more fish balls after our initial order as we weren't full so this is a place that can get pricey quick if you're starving. Vegetables are fine but nothing of note. The fish balls and tofu were frozen which is a bit disappointing since you can buy a bag of some of them for the price of a single order here. Overall if you want some good quality hot pot and aren't familiar with the cuisine then give them a try! If you're well versed in the world of hot pot however then this place won't really offer anything that will blow your mind. read more

I have been looking forward to trying shabu for awhile now because I am such a lover of sister restaurant fuji, and unfortunately I have to admit I'm disappointed. The service was mediocre but what really bummed me out was the food. The hot pot broth was bland and fishy (not in a good way). We tried 4 different broths and all of them were tasteless. All of our appetizers and meals were very average and there were no homemade sauces. I'm really hoping this was possibly a bad experience aside from the norm, but also hoping that this review is not taken negatively, just constructive criticism. read more

Tuesday night dinner buffet before the New Year's Eve. 5pm crowd almost headed in. $33 for adults and $16 for kids 10 and under. Eat as much for 2 hours. Try not to be wasteful. Angus ribs eye as my meat of choice. Not as marbled as prime ribeye. Seafood selection, huge. Shrimps were peeled. Service was okay today as there weren't many servers. We worked around it. They always try their best. My second time stopping here since I arrived 2 weeks ago. Thank you for the good eats. Haven't been here in about 4 years and prices have fluctuated. I remember when prime ribeye combo went for $21 . Oh how times have changed. The buffet is a good choice for different types of everything on the menu (except specialty meats). read more

I really enjoyed this place! Came for dinner on a Friday night; small place but there were plenty of tables. Service was very fast and friendly. Had the cucumber saketini and it was honestly one of the best drinks I've ever had. read more

This is a cute little hot pot restaurant, there are seats at the bar and a few tables that probably fit around 30 people max in the whole restaurant. I definitely prefer this over any other hot pot places around Quincy. I like coming here in lunch so that I don't have to wait for a table during the dinner rush hours. They have ayce that different prices for lunch/dinner and weekdays/weekends. Mind you, there are a few more items on the dinner ayce menu and some of the better cuts of meats aren't on there. I was disappointed that the short ribs wasn't part of the ayce menu at all and beef tongue is only part of the dinner ayce menu, but I guess for about $24 a person for lunch ayce, the fatty beef and sirloin cuts are good enough. They also don't have pumpkin on the ayce menu which I was extremely disappointed about because it's my favorite thing to order at hot pot for vegetables. If you are not that hungry or if you're not someone who eats a lot then I would recommend going with the regular combos rather than doing ayce because it won't be worth it and you might end up with leftover food. The combos that I normally order are the short rib combo or the meat combo. For broth, either miso or spicy szechuan which my boyfriend always gets because he prefers the spicier broth. Honestly, some times I order the house broth too. Their meat portions are standard and you'll definitely get full after consuming one combo. As for the sushi, they literally just run over to bcafe to get the sushi so the quality is always great because bcafe never disappoints. The service just depends on who we get as a server that day. There are some serves that are super attentive, but during my last recent, our server didn't even check up on us until the very end when we were about to finish and she asked us if we're doing okay. Another server that day had to come fill out water because our own server was too busy using her phone behind the bar (she wasn't even discreet about it). read more

This was my first experience at a hot pot in Quincy and surely won't be my last. We walked in to an empty restaurant on a Friday night and while the service was on par it was rushed. I explained to the waitress I was very much a rookie but got no guidance on the menu even after my party asked for it. The quality of the meats and vegetables were A+ but the broth was lacking and very bland. The restaurant overall was clean and I enjoyed the piano covers of modern music over the sound system but I regret not going to Wei Shu Wu first. read more

Had dinner here with friends during the week. The restaurant is small but well done.seating inside and outside. They don't accept reservations. We ordered hot pot, soup base was half tonkutsu and half Szechuan spice. They were both flavorful. The meat combo was yummy and included rice and a medley of vegetables. The vegetables were fresh but I did feel that some of them could have been cut smaller or thinner. Service was great, refilled water glasses and additional broth as needed. Everything was a la cart but overall moderate costs. read more

Ingredients are very fresh and services are fast! We loved the prime rib eye because of its good quality and the good marble look! First time to try the tonkotsu broth and my toddler loved it with ramen noodles! Only one downside is the food was a bit pricey if coming for dinner during weekends. But will definitely come back when I am craving for Shabu! read more

We decided to visit after the restaurant popped up on yelp. We haven't been in years and decided to try again since it used to be one of my wife's favorite hot pot broths. We were both disappointed. The quality of this place has gone down. The broth was watered down and barely had flavor. We got the angus prime rib combo and it comes with minimal vegetables. We also got the vegetable combo and that Service was also terrible. The waitress made us feel like she didn't really want us in there. She started cleaning up and sweeping around our table while we were eating. For the prices they charge we expected better. And I was still hungry when we left! read more

Dear Fuji Team - I used to live in Ink Block / Troy for numerous years, and we have been a very longtime customer of yours. The service attention this evening was good, and we have no problems there. However, we both came down with food poisoning this evening. One patron was 100% vegetarian in terms of broth and itemized list; the other was meat-based. We did not share bowls at all, which is why I am concerned that something was off. As a decently-longtime customer, I am not sure we will ever be back again unless we can discuss. Please let me know. This was the worst hot pot experience we have had in years. And I would not expect this from your reputation or our tens of experiences with the Fuji Group previously. We have spent thousands of dollars with you equally in the past - this was not normal. read more

My go to for Shabu. Their boneless ribeye never disappoints and their watermelon lychee smoothie is so refreshing .

I love eating hot pot here! Everything just seems a lot cleaner than most places. I highly recommend getting the Tom Yum broth. I've tried the regular house broth, and it was really bland. My favorite hot pot in Quincy, it never disappointed me. Japanese hot pot ingredients always above average compared to Chinese hot pot. Tomato & beef, tokonsu, and tom yum is my favorite soup base. I've been coming to Shabu for over 5 years and I absolutely love it! The food is so good and fresh. Truly one of my all time favorite restaurants! read more

Shabu Restaurant is located a short distance from the intersection of B Cafe (which used to be Beni Cafe) and Yocha. They offer their shabu shabu in buffet style at lunch everyday (M-F $21.95, Sat & Sun $25.95), but only from Monday-Wednesday $29.95 for dinner. We came on a Sunday, so AYCE was not an option, and ended up paying $48 for the two of us for our evening's meal. We started with their edamame $4.25, salted soybeans that arrived in those inedible pods that we squeezed the beans out of. While they offer a regular soup base for no charge, my DC wanted the miso $3, while I wanted to try their Japanese curry for the extra chunks of carrots and potatoes that came with. We went with both and an order of the Surf & Turf Combo $19.75, opting for the udon over rice, and beef and lamb for the two meats. Iced tofu $2.75 and fish paste $4.95 rounded out our meal. My half pot of soup arrived rather lumpy and clumpy and needed some additional heat and attention (aka stirring) to incorporate the globs of curry floating beneath the murky surface. The seafood platter portion of the combo was rather shareable for two, but less so the meats since they were each but a count of 3 slices. The iced tofu was soup soakingly good as usual, but the fish paste was unexpectedly served on a plate with a spoon rather than in a bag as I had supposed. So no long strands of fish noodles... instead it was more like fish dumplings. But they were still good. We both generally ended up preferring the curry base over the miso, though both options were fine for the job. Having ordered light, we weren't stuffed by any means, but had room left for something sweet. And so for dessert, off to Yocha! read more

We frequent Shabu quite often usually on Friday nights. We first came here about 2 years ago based on a friends recommendation. I'll preface this by saying I am worried about writing this review in fear that we will never never get a seat again on a Friday night - this is definitely one of Quincy's best kept secrets. I only had one experience with hot pot previous to Shabu and was not super excited about it, but also didn't hate it. We decided to give it another try. It was a little bit of a risk because I have two young children 7yo and 9yo and this was a total different different way of eating. My son was traditionally a poor eater so we were not sure how he would respond. Our first visit was no less than amazing. Shabu is a small place but but is very energetic and has great buzz to it. The menu at first was a little hard to figure out but we had a great server who navigated us through and helped us order. Although they do not have a kids menu, there are so many great items for kids to choose from. As mentioned, my son the picky eater, found a couple things he loved. They were kind enough to prepare a non-spicy version of their chicken tenders along with a side of rice and some Napa cabbage and he was off to the races ! We chose a meat combo supreme with prime rib, chicken, and pork. It comes with a choice of noodle, choice of soup and some vegetables. It's delicious. Our favorite noodle is ramen and my choice of soup is spicy schezwan - my kids get the miso broth. We have also tried a number of different meats - short rib which is amazing and the wagyu beef is over the top. They have a great wine by the glass selection and good bottle list. Of particular note is the service- it's excellent. We get a little more attention because we are more than regulars, however, I remember how good the service was on our first visit as noted. They also have an outdoor patio that is heated and open all year long. We have found this a great style of cuisine and its light and fresh. You can order a'l'carte or in combos. You have a lot of choices if you are out for a lite dinner or a big meal. read more

How in the world have I not reviewed this place yet? I'm stunned. I've been here many, many times. With my wife, with friends, with a big group of Yelpers and with some family. This modest establishment sits on one of Quincy's main roads but there's plenty of street parking. Inside you'll find about 7-8 tables as well as a bar counter that sits another 6 or so people. And on every table, as you can imagine, is an induction burner and usually a ton of plates of ingredients ready to be swished around in the various broths they offer. Best of all, they have an all-you-can-eat option available with reasonable pricing. They call it the buffet and there's a dedicated menu for it. This is our favorite option and a great way to try various things to keep the meal very interesting. There's over fifty options to pick from including beef, lamb, chicken, pork, turkey, various mushrooms, noodles, and seafood as well. All of the meats and veggies we've had there have been of great quality and the service impeccable. I haven't had the seafood but people I've been with have and they had no complaints either. There's also fourteen different soup bases to pick from which is also nice and they recently introduced a new pot allowing one to have to three different ones per table at once. I recommend the kimchi one which is our favorite. The Japanese Curry one is interesting as well. All in all, this place rocks! It's awesome and I always look forward to returning here no matter the time of year or who I'm with. It's by far the best shabu-shabu option in the Boston-area. read more

Fantastic hot pot. Quick service. The broth choices are all delicious. The drink menu is great.

So fresh and delicious! One of my favorite spots! The miso broth is incredible. Great service too

They don't do reservations and they have a small amount of tables and bar seating available. Go early or late ish. I've seen people wait for QUITE a while in their tiny waiting area so be careful. Other than that, definitely great service. But if you're at the bar they tend to ignore you so speak up. Veggies were fresh, meat was excellent no off color off taste pieces. Side dressings bit on the small side. Scallions are dried up and not fresh. Sake served here too- heated up. Very nice during colder months. read more

My partner and I love hotpot and were really excited to try this on a cool fall evening. We got the 9 box Sichuan broth. But it lacked any mala flavor. The quality of the ingredients was good but definitely on the more expensive side. In my opinion, doing hot pot at home is way more cost effective. Head down the street to 99 ranch and get the equipment, meats, vegetables, seafood etc and it'll end up costing the same as eating out here read more
