My partner and I got AYCE hot pot w signature tom yum broth and pork bone broth - TASTE: 4/5 - highlights included the signature tom yum broth's hot and sour flavor and mala beef's numbing spiciness. Several toppings available at the sauce station, including soy sauce, peanut sauce, green onion, and lots of garlic. Quality of the meat was decent for the price TEXTURE: 4/5 - wasn't expecting to have fried appetizer options, like the crunchy fried dough, crab rangoons, and scallion pancake! Enjoyed the chewy fish balls, bean curd sticks, and watercress (easier stalks to eat than tong ho) PRICE: 5/5 - honestly a great deal at $35pp SERVING SIZE: 5/5 - AYCE, though we were stuffed after two rounds SERVICE: 4/5 - walked in at 5:15pm on a wintry Saturday and only two tables were occupied (though only two tables were unoccupied by the time we left). Filled out the sheet, and our order was brought out 5 minutes later. Got our waiter's attention when we wanted to order more or get a water refill. Not sure if Tai Xi was rebranded to Thai-C, or the other way around? ATMOSPHERE: 4/5 - cozy, mid-size space playing Canto music PARKING: 5/5 - happened to get a free street spot right in front of the restaurant. Otherwise, Vane St Lot is a free 2-hour parking lot nearby, if street spots on Hancock St or Billings Rd are unavailable

Really good variance in the foods offered! There is also a cold appetizer bar in the front with dishes that most hot pot restaurants don't serve.

Where to begin? Hot pot everywhere. Whats different from this place than others are you can enjoy hot pot and Korean BBQ for just $5 additional for each person. Service can be a little better, but they are trying their best with only a few workers. Everything you need from meat to vegetables for both categories are available. No hidden fees for anything else. Lots of places bait and switch charge you fee for different broth bases. Shrimp and fish paste must try for hot pot. Short rib for Korean BBQ yummy. pictures next time as I was hungry and starving for food lol btw price as of 12/20

Came on an early Friday for dinner and we were the first ones here but later got crowded. They have all you can eat sushi, hotpot or both. We ended up choosing the all you can eat hotpot (including meat) and it was pretty decent. Even though it's still all you can eat, it is ordered as you go. The quality of some of the protein isn't as good as Happy Lamb (another all you can eat place) but they have a huge variety! The appetizers are pretty good and they have a huge selection for the sauce bar.

We came here for lunch on a Sunday . The service was good. The food came out fast. We did the all you can eat hot pot for $31. The broth was an extra charge. The food was decent and broth was tasty. We got the kim chi and Tom yum . Felt like everything we pick didn't come out but it was still enough food. We still had a chance to order more. We bought in a cake and they kept it cold then bought it out when we need it. Overall, decent spot

AYCE Menu hotpot options - $30.95/pp but broth is additional charge

Oh hotpot, how I can never get enough of you. The mister and I are determined to try as many hotpot places as we can or at least that's what it feels like. We typically prefer the AYCE option if it's available. We found this place while perusing the fabulous Yelp community. It definitely doesn't have as much love as other places AND the name is deceiving. When you see Thai, you think umm, well, Thai food.....they really should've just kept their name listed as what's on the menu - Tai Xi, but I digress. We got there when they first opened so were able to find street parking easily just one street down. Hardly anyone was there yet. The place is a bit smaller in person than the online pictures show, but the place is modern and hip and prob insta-worthy as the kids these days say it, with some of their cute wall decor. Although there is an attractive AYCE $30.95 price tag, just note that the sauce bar and broths are additional. Their site doesn't show what the options for the AYCE menu is so voila - see my picture. Hopefully, that helps! For what they offer, I feel it's plentiful and they do offer a handful of apps as well, which is a nice touch. What I appreciated is the fact that they didn't give you a heaping pile of apps if ordered, they were portioned perfectly for our party of 2. Just enough to have a taste without pumping your belly with unnecessary fillers. We had a split pot of pork bone broth and beef tallow (med spice level). The pork bone broth was a bit under seasoned but nothing the sauce bar couldn't help. Our faves were the pork belly and the Mala beef. We both really enjoyed our meal and would def come back! And although some reviews complained about the service, we had zero complaints - the staff was impeccable even when the place started to fill up and got busy. There was only one snafu with them giving us something 2 things we didn't order - but we made sure to tell them we didn't order it so we weren't charged for not eating it. Tip - take a pic of the menu once you've checked off your selections - makes it easier to keep track of what you ordered, if it didn't get to your table and to make sure you're not charged for not eating something you didn't order.

Nice cozy restaurant fresh food and great boba drinks. They have hot pot and very good entree. The owner personally made our drinks and explain how to order and recommended some great dishes. It was a hot day out. So we didnt try hot pot .we tried some nice boba like melon which was very satisfing and my daughter got the toro milk boba and she was very happy with it. Everything we had was so delicious and it was a very clean and fast .

The boba tea location was called Chaitime, the store sign currently says Thai C Haven't tried the unlimited hotpot yet but, the section is always busy. I usually order boba tea which usually just good. The Matcha ice cream float was a first, wish the matcha flavor was stronger. The menu is a little different than most places in the area. The drink area is well decorated including a fish tank. The chairs are cute, perfect for pics.

Don't know when they change the name to Thai Xi... haven't been here for some time.. now they offer AYCE, will come here if craving for their coconut soupbase. Fresh meat t&at are nice quality for AYCE and fresh veggies. Now more people coming here comparing before. Hope they offer more veggies selection.

I was a frequent customer of the Royal Hotpot Restaurant back in the days when it was an AYCE…read morehotpot and sushi restaurant, and it was one of the best restaurants of this type in the Quincy area, and maybe even all of the Great Boston area. Then Covid came, and this restaurant rebranded itself as an a-la-cart Korean BBQ and sushi restaurant. I tried it once after the rebranding. It was relatively expensive, and neither the hotpot nor the sushi stood out. With food that was middling at best and a higher than average price, I didn't feel it was worth returning to. So I haven't visited this place since 2022. Fast forward to last night, my family stayed up to watch football, and we got hungry and wanted to buy some takeout. Many places that we were interested in were closed by 10 PM, and Royal Hotpot was still open. So we bought several items from them for takeout. We live 20 minutes away and did our own pickup. When we got home with the food, we found the following: I had a beef Bibimbop. 20 minutes after pickup from the restaurant, it was already cold. Not ice cold, but room temperature at best. There was no sauce. You eat a Bibimbop by first pouring in the special Bibimbop sauce and getting its taste onto everything. But, as I said, no sauce. The Bibimbop itself? A relatively small bowl that had plenty of rice, a boatload of seaweed that smelled fishy, and not much beef even when I stirred the food around to find what beef I could. There was not much. So, I put a spoonful of rice into my mouth. All I could taste was the fishiness of the seaweed,. There was no beef taste or any other taste that I could discern. So for almost $30 bucks I got a dry bowl if rice and mostly seaweed that was devoid of any taste you could enjoy. It was basically dry seaweed rice, with very little meat, and no sauce. I have eaten Korean food in general and Bibimbop in particular from maybe 20 restaurants in the Greater Boston area. I would rate this one the worst, by a significant margin, that I have ever had. I ended up putting the entire bowl, after two bites, into the fridge. Why didn't I throw it away? I feed stray cats behind my house, and this will go to the cats tonight. The two mouthfuls that I tried to eat? I spit those out into the garbage because it tasted so vile in my mouth. As for the other order, it was mostly sushi. My family member who absolutely LOVES sushi of any kind did eat his order, but he muttered that it was definitely subpar. So there you have it. If you ever have a yen for Korean or Japanese cuisine and you don't find many places open, don't come to this place. Eat some canned food from home, or make some instant noodles. This place, for me, was an awful choice. After putting Royal Hotpot's food away, I made an instant noodle to fill my hunger. that instant noodle was 5 times better than my expensive takeout. Note: I only give 1 star reviews for food that is literally spoiled, or when restaurant staff give egregiously awful service, 2 stars is the rating I generally give for really bad, unenjoyable food.

The sauce bar was impressive, with tons of bases, oils, herbs, and nut toppings to mix and match. We chose duo broths: the Wild Mixed Mushroom Broth and the Pork Buddy Mala Butter Broth at medium spice. Having one spicy and one mild was perfect, and both had deep, flavorful profiles that got even better as the meal went on. VEGGIE PLATTER The veggie platter came packed with fresh ingredients like lettuce, lotus root, mushrooms, and squash. All the vegetables were crisp and high quality. MEAT ASSORTMENT We ordered wagyu and several cuts of beef, all sliced beautifully and extremely fresh. Everything cooked quickly and soaked up the broth in the best way. SPICY HAMACHI BOMB ROLL This roll with torched hamachi, eel sauce, and mango was delicious and added a nice sushi moment in between the hot pot. NOODLE ASSORTMENT We tried the handmade noodles and sweet potato noodles, both were an epic addition and perfect for finishing the meal as the broth got richer. FRIED VANILLA ICE CREAM Crispy on the outside and cold in the center, it was the perfect sweet ending. Perfect way to end a chilly evening during this soup season.

I started with the Gyoza. The owner/chef advertised these as home-made, and it definitely shows. The dough is delicate, and the meat and vegetable inside are balanced and nicely seasoned. I think there are a few glass noodles thrown in for texture as well. The Dolsot Bibmbop was great! It came out on a sizzling, hot stone bowl and had flavorful and tender meat and a wide assortment of veggies. Everything was cooked just right, and had a spot-on amount of seasoning/salt/spice. I also loved how the rice on the hot stone came out with a lovely crunch! Finally, we eat with our eyes (though some Yelpers eat with their cameras) and visually it was colorful, and could beat out some works of contemporary art, if I may say so! Where it comes to the Banchan, I am much less thrilled. All but one of these had a hefty dose of an overpowering, fiery, and heavily acidic sauce. Thus, it made 4/5 of these variations on a theme. Service-wise: When I visited, it appeared to be a one-woman army. One person appeared to be the owner, chef, and server in one! She was friendly, kind, and there wasn't a hefty wait for the food. On the flip-side though, doing my research I find that some questions were left unasked. This includes if I wanted to gyoza steamed or fried, and what protein I wanted with the bibimbop. Value-wise, I find their prices are reasonable, especially considering the filling portions. Thus, while nothing was mind-blowing, I found the food tasty and authentic and the value reasonable. While the service was very welcoming, it would've been nice to have been asked about the options in the menu. Last, the Banchan was enough of a miss that if I return, I will ask to skip them.
