Forks & Chopsticks (formerly Tai Xi) was a great AYCE experience! Now, I'm not sure if the owners just decided to rebrand or if there are new owners but I really enjoyed having dinner here the other night. When it was Tai Xi, they only offered AYCE (all you can eat) for hotpot. Forks & Chopsticks is pretty cool because they have AYCE for hotpot & Korean BBQ ($37.95), +$5/person for both. I was impressed by the broths we tried. We did 2 broths, chicken maw & pork bone, and they were both good! I've taken a liking to chicken maw broth lately because it's so creamy. This one was creamy & tasted kind of cheesy which I enjoyed. Next time, I might even do just a single pot with just this broth! To order, it's pretty old school. Classic pen & paper slip. We liked the portion sizes they give for each order. Made it easy to finish everything we ordered, helped with pacing, & see if we needed to order more. For the KBBQ side, we enjoyed getting the marinated short rib/kalbi! This is always our favorite meat to order at KBBQ. Flavorful even without sauce dip. They gave a complimentary shrimp tempura roll to each table dining in, including us, when we visited. Thought was nice! Everything we ordered tasted fresh & was wayyy better quality (including the broths!) than all other AYCEs we've been to in MA. This includes hotpot only AYCEs, KBBQ only, and ones w/ both. Now Chopsticks and Forks. New format adds sushi to the menu BUT NOTE, sushi is not AYCE :( I love their staff. They're always attentive and super nice. The quality of the fixings for the hot pot is great and never too much. I also love their choice of included apps and now an expanded list of beverages included with the AYCE price. I noted there are more exotic items on the hot pot list than before, which was cool. I always liked their sauce and extras bar. Fun to mix and match items for my dipping sauce and get some extras for apps. We had my father in law's birthday dinner there and the team was helpful with our store bought cake. We stuck to hot pot only. I always find it difficult for me to manage both grilling and hot potting at the same time. I'm no good at multi-tasking. Average AYCE hot pot place. You can add $5 additional per person to enjoy both hot pot and kBBQ. We just got the hot pot and the selection wasn't the biggest but had all the basics of hot pot: meat, fishballs, veggies, noodles. All the meat and veggies looked clean and fresh. However, I found the broth we got (Tom Yum) to be very salty, so we ended up not using the sauce bar that much. The sauce bar was great as well- they had pig ear and a bunch of ingredients to make your own sauce. Most of the stuff didn't have labels though so it was hard to know what sauces were what. Lastly, I think the service was great. They made sure to refill our water constantly without hovering. The food came out quickly. Parking isn't too bad in the area. Good quality AYCE hot pot for a decent price! They sat us super quickly on a weekend evening and were exceptionally understanding of our rambunctious toddler. The food came out extremely quickly. It's AYCE so you only get one thing at a time as you order to help pace yourself. We had some floaters leftover in the broth by the end because we were so full, and we were not charged extra for it. The sauce bar here is noteworthy - it has just about everything you can imagine as far as hot pot condiments go. It even has unlimited self serve shrimp right in the sauce bar. Most people come to hot pot for the sliced meats but IMHO the veggies here were even better. The mushrooms were phenomenal and had great variety from oyster to enoki, and the cabbage was fresh and crunchy. Some sleeper shoutouts are the crab rangoons (I know, right?? Came on an early Friday for dinner and we were the first ones here but later got crowded. They have all you can eat sushi, hotpot or both. We ended up choosing the all you can eat hotpot (including meat) and it was pretty decent. Even though it's still all you can eat, it is ordered as you go. The quality of some of the protein isn't as good as Happy Lamb (another all you can eat place) but they have a huge variety! AYCE hotpot. The setting is nice a lot of families seem to have dinner here on the regular. They also have boba and smoothies which are great. The meat cuts are your hot pot thin cut meats, broth was tasty but could be elevated. For the price though I've been back here multiple times. They have a sauce cart that you make your dipping sauce on as well as appetizers like crab rangoons. Service is usually quick and you can get their attention pretty quick. Oh hotpot, how I can never get enough of you. The mister and I are determined to try as many hotpot places as we can or at least that's what it feels like. We typically prefer the AYCE option if it's available. We found this place while perusing the fabulous Yelp community. It definitely doesn't have as much love as other places AND the name is deceiving. When you see Thai, you think umm, well, Thai food.....they really should've just kept their name listed as what's on the menu - Tai Xi, but I digress. We got there when they first opened so were able to find street parking easily just one street down. Hardly anyone was there yet. The place is a bit smaller in person than the online pictures show, but the place is modern and hip and prob insta-worthy as the kids these days say it, with some of their cute wall decor. Although there is an attractive AYCE $30.95 price tag, just note that the sauce bar and broths are additional. Their site doesn't show what the options for the AYCE menu is so voila - see my picture. Hopefully, that helps! For what they offer, I feel it's plentiful and they do offer a handful of apps as well, which is a nice touch. What I appreciated is the fact that they didn't give you a heaping pile of apps if ordered, they were portioned perfectly for our party of 2. Just enough to have a taste without pumping your belly with unnecessary fillers. We had a split pot of pork bone broth and beef tallow (med spice level). The pork bone broth was a bit under seasoned but nothing the sauce bar couldn't help. Our faves were the pork belly and the Mala beef. We both really enjoyed our meal and would def come back! And although some reviews complained about the service, we had zero complaints - the staff was impeccable even when the place started to fill up and got busy. There was only one snafu with them giving us something 2 things we didn't order - but we made sure to tell them we didn't order it so we weren't charged for not eating it. Definitely come here hungry! They have AYCE option that is worth it if you are hungry. The AYCE menu does not include everything that's on their a la carte menu, but the selection is good enough and you can always add on anything else from the a la carte menu for that price if you want. It is extra charge for the broths, some broths are $8 just for one side. My favorite would be the maw chicken broth. Sometimes we would get the entire pot with maw chicken broth. It is this creamy, coconutty, chicken broth that is very flavorful. We try not to get full off appetizers from the AYCE menu, but I do like the fried bun with condensed milk. The meat is definitely fresher than some other AYCE hot pot restaurants, I've yet to see anything slightly frozen-looking. Vegetables are consistent with most hot pot restaurants. I wish they had ramen, even instant ramen noodles would work. The restaurant itself looks nice and bright, good for pictures. Service can be slow sometimes, because some of the staff members just stand in the corner talking to each other or on their phones so it is hard to get their attention. One time, my family and I were waiting for someone for so long, I had to ask the manager for the bill on the other side where bubble tea orders are taken. read more

I usually order boba tea which usually just good. The Matcha ice cream float was a first, wish the matcha flavor was stronger. The menu is a little different than most places in the area. Located in Quincy, there is an All You Can Eat Hot Pot Buffet for about $31 per person, with an extensive menu offerings available such as beef, pork, lamb, chicken, veggies, and loads of seafood to choose from. They also have a la carte menu items that you can order for the table. What was nice was they also have mild to spicy offerings in the broth that you choose. When they say spicy they really do mean spicy. I also recommend the avocado smoothie. Down time to get food wasn't too long of a wait. Came here twice at around 10:20-10:25pm. This obnoxious lady keeps saying the kitchen is closed and she is not accepting customers. Their restaurant closes at 11:00pm and the kitchen closes at 10:30pm. This is a Hot Pot.. the kitchen does not need to cook any food.. just bring out raw food for us. So, why are you refusing customers over 30+ minutes before closing? If you don't care about business then put a sign out! After 2 attempts to give them a try, I will say that I will never go back again. They have lost my business and a positive Yelp review from me. Great value AYCE hotpot! Around $31 per person for all you can eat including the meat is a pretty good deal around these parts where individual ordering gets so pricey. The soup base is separate price but in total for 2 people it did not end up being more than going to individual ordering hotpot places. The soup broths are not bad! I would say 3/5. They do refill it with water. I got the beef tallow spicy medium which was really spicy. And I love spice. I would say start with the mild then see how you feel. The quality of the food was good as well. I've definitely had better but for the price I really couldn't complain. I recommend the shrimp paste! And just like I said before that we would return - we did, on a chilly day. Not too many patrons at the time we arrived so we were seated right away and were asked whether we wanted the buffet menu, to which we affirmed. Because of our affirmation, we received a smaller set of menus which made it easier to go through our dining selections. Right off the bat, we ordered the salted egg yolk fish maw broth for hot pot for the entire pot cuz it was just the right thing to do. Once simmered, it was warming, smoothing and satisfactory as it danced through our body. You'll notice miniscule bits of egg yolk in the broth that gives it a pleasant texture. From the veggies, root veggies (daikon, taro), fatty beef, beef tongue, tofu and shrimp paste, everything was consistently good. Definitely recommend ordering the clams cuz they are big, plump and juicy. Wish I had pictures to prove all this but we were hungry and in need of warmth. They also had a condiment cart nearby that can be pushed tableside and I would say they had at least 20 condiments based on memory. No doubt we will return many more times! read more

Tried Thai C for the first time yesterday. The place is clean and has modern decor and seating. They have AYCE menu ($31/pp) and a-la-cart menu. We did a-la-cart. We chose their signature Tom Yum broth, it was slightly creamy from the coconut but good. We ordered a variety of food and popcorn chicken for appetizer. I especially like their Kumquat Lemonade, very refreshing. Food portion was great, not too much nor little. Service was quick and we had no issues ordering. They have a small Sauce Bar so you can customize your sauce. There's even recommendations on how to make your sauce with the broth you pick on the wall which I thought was nice to have for hotpot newbies. read more

I only come to this place for hotpot so I am only rating on that. I came here a few times. I was not impressed (but my partner likes it) until the last time which was yesterday. If I didn't come here the last time, I would give this place a 2-3 stars. But after yesterday's experience, I think a 4-star should justify their improvements. First the broth is way better than before. We ordered Tum Yum broth and the Beef Oil Spicy (medium) broth. One thing that I was not impressed by this place in the past was because the broths are so bland and thin like water. But yesterday, we were surprised to see some great leaps in broth quality. They are thicker, creamy and flavorful. Good job! Second, the ribeye quality is amazing. I have been to quite a few hotpot places and always avoided the ribeye meat because they are always too lean to go with the hotpot. But Taixi's ribeye is marble-like and really delicious. However, their lamb is a bit mediocre and doesn't taste like lamb due to the lack of the unique gamy lamb flavor. Lastly, the service is where I think Taixi can improve. During our 90-min dining, no one comes to our table to ask if we need anything. We had to get the staff's attention to refill our water or order more food. Overall, I am happy with Tai Xi now. I would say that Wei Shu Wu nearby is still a little better in terms of food quality, when I want a very authentic Chinese Sichuan style hotpot. But Wei Shu Wu is too overpriced to the point that it's really not worth it anymore. In the meantime, Tai Xi is all you can eat. Given its recent improvement in the quality of the food, I think Tai Xi is a great replacement of Wei Shu Wu from now on. read more

We went early on a busy Saturday and were seated quickly. There was an excellent selection of meats, and veggies to choose from. I was impressed by the freshness of the meats and fish. We ordered boba for the table and they are one of the few places I can find that does really good rose milk tea. They had a few broth options from mild to hot and sweet to savory. The sauce station is well managed and clean. The staff is knowledgeable about the menu and very friendly and patient about questions. Appetizers are included as well. Amazing food and amazing deal with their AYCE menu. Went today during Memorial Day and there was plenty of staff to service everyone in the restaurant. Food comes insanely quick and they missed no orders at all (usually other AYCE they miss orders). The interior is modern and very clean. I tried this place a couple of times but not for their AYCE hot pot. I usually get their dry mala pot. You need to order each item separately. But please if you believe that single (LOYAL) customer not bring you any profit, please put a sign outside that said minimum 2 people party, so that I don't have to be that disappointed. Came here twice. Once before the AYCE hotpot was implemented and once after. The second time was due to a coworker recommending it to me so I thought I'd give it a shot. Both times were kind of disappointing. First time, the chicken wings were still raw on the inside, had to return it to get it redone, not sure if it was the same ones but just reheated but they were cooked afterwards. Second time, for the AYCE hotpot, it was an interesting experience. The service was all right, there wasn't much to be flabbergasted about. The food felt a little on the lower quality. The quantity was wack too! If you write 5 orders of enoki mushrooms, you would get maybe a quarter of one. And if you write 5 of the fish balls, you get a crap ton of them. Not sure if the 5 enoki was measured by individual mushroom strands or not but it was definitely NOT it. read more

Dine in regular menu review: We were looking for a place to eat as we were walking by and saw Thai c, we automatically assumed it was Thai food because of the name, but it wasn't. At first we almost walked out but glad we gave this place a try because we were quite impressed with the service and the food. Since we were the one ones there, the food came out at a reasonable time. The popcorn chicken were a huge hit. We also ordered the beef scallion pancake and we were really excited to try it since the presentation was lovely, however it was really dry and lacked so much flavor. We also ordered the chicken teriyaki and the brisket noodle which were both delicious and flavorful. This dine in regular menu visit was great, 5 out of 5 stars. Dine in hotpot review: All the reviews on here was for hotpot so we decided to come back and do hotpot this time around.. HUGE mistake. This place is way too over priced and everything is so unorganized. There is no "host," at the register. We walked up the the counter and no one was there. We waited about 15 minutes for some to acknowledge us. After being greeted and seated we were given a menu that did not have a description to their combos. When we asked the server regarding the combos she was unsure and kept saying "I think it come with this," when the food came out it wasn't what she had mentioned to us. We pretty much paid for food we didn't like nor did we even bother to eat. The server was very inattentive and seemed to be bothered that we were asking questions about the hotpot menu. She was unknowledgeable. The fact that hotpot doesn't come with sauce is ridiculous- you have to pay for sauce per person. All the portions were small. Service this time around was really bad and slow. Overall the place is really clean and gorgeous decor, but definitely not worth the money. Best hotpot place to get the most bang for your buck in and around Boston! It's AYCE with fresh food and unlimited food/great variety of food. Meats are never frozen. I went to a regular restaurant in Chinatown the other day and felt like I was cheating on tai xi. It wasn't AYCE, I got one plate of frozen beef and some sides and it was the same price as tai xi!
