Saw this place on TikTok and wanted to support local businesses around the area. Honestly, though, I thought drinks were VERY MID, and I don't think they were worth the price. Btw, it was $15 for two drinks. I got a matcha einspanner and set-spanner for my bf that was recommended by the worker who took my order. The worker was very nice and helpful, and the vibe of the store was clean and trendy. However, the hype of the store did not live up to my expectations. First off, the cream top of my matcha einspanner was very thin and sank; at that point, it was like there was no cream top at all. Also, the matcha seemed like it wasn't whisked and incorporated well since it was grainy and all at the bottom of the cup. I had to mix well for the matcha flavor to be somewhat apparent, while the grainy pieces made the drink taste like I was drinking micro pieces of grass. The graininess and lack of matcha flavor kind of made the drink a bit unpleasant to drink. Next, for the set-spanner, the cream top was a bit better since it was thicker and I could visibly see and taste it. Also, there was the same problem with the drink being very grainy, but that is probably due to the injeolmi, although I've had other injeolmi coffee drinks that weren't this grainy. Despite the graininess, the drink had a mild coffee flavor that I wish were stronger. Btw, I ordered these two drinks with less ice as well so that the flavor profile would not dilute on my drive home, which was about 10 mins. Yet, from my experience, I don't think the drinks are that good or unique for the price. Since this place just opened, hopefully they can work on building and perfecting the quality of their drinks. The drink was same as the last time I got it, it barely had any sea salt cold foam topping and I could barely taste the matcha. I truly hope I can come back one and have an einspanner reminiscent of the first couple months of opening. Ok so I went to this place cuz of the good reviews but honestly I don't see anyone talking about the size of the matcha latte. I got the mango sticky rice matcha. I love mango sticky rice and the drink was good although there is no rice in it so really it's just a mango matcha latte. But the drink size is really small. 100% worth the stop if you're in the area! I've been to this cafe several times, and each time I've tried to get the garlic cream cheese salt bread everyone's raving about. They've been completely sold out each time I visit, until last time. I finally got my hands on that famous salt bread, and it did not disappoint! It was baked to perfection. The buttery exterior perfectly complements the pillowy interior, filled with the perfect balance of savory, sweet cream cheese. I see why it's usually sold out, I wanted to run back in and grab the rest! I've also tried their almond croissant, which was just as pillowy and buttery with a delicious creme filling that just melts in your mouth. For the drinks, I feel a little more conflicted. I've had their Set latte and felt a little underwhelmed. It was definitely tasty, but I didn't feel like the Hotteok flavor was as present as I would have liked. Again, still tasty and worth the try. I'd like to give the coffee another try sometime, but it's hard when their matcha blows it out of the water. The two I've tried are matcha Einspanner and Duul matcha. Hands down, some of the best matcha I've ever had! It's perfectly sweetened, creamy, and smooth, no clumps whatsoever! The taste alone tells you they use high-quality matcha powder and put care into each beverage. UPDATE: Today, I tried their set spanner and omg!! It was delicious!! Maybe I came during a rush before and didn't get the best latte, but this one was amazing!! So smooth and not too sweet! We visited during their soft opening and was really excited to try their drinks. TBH I was extra excited to see the interior because here in Inland Empire we don't see a lot of nice coffee spots like we do in LA or OC. The space has a clean, minimal feel. It's simple but thoughtfully put together. Theres a nice communal table in front to do some work. In the back there's ample seating - perfect area to grab some matcha and catch up with friends. We tried two drinks: Matcha Eispanner and Ube Matcha - The standout for me was the Ube coconut matcha. smooth, vibrant, and not too sweet. I could really taste the Ube and the coconut balance which is hard to get right. I'm really hoping it'll stay on the menu permanently and not just for the soft opening specials. The owners and staff were very friendly. We were able to meet the owner's wife and another owner's mom- such nice ladies. They told us all about how the business came into fruition. Usually whenever I check out a new coffee shop, I get a cortado to judge a few things: how well they dialed in their espressos, the quality of their beans and whether or not I can taste their notes, and how well they can ratio the milk with the espresso. Cortado was rock solid and its definitely gonna be my go to if i want something light and very coffee forward. I think I overheard from the owners that they use Jetty beans so you can count on a high quality coffee based drink from an Americano to lattes. My fiancé ordered one of their signature drinks aka the Set-Spanner and she thought it was great too! I took a few sips of it and I have to agree. Think of it as a coffee version of leftover cinnamon toast crunch milk with some nice sweet cream on top. For me, you'll have some places that just add way too much sweetner/other fillers that the actual taste of of the coffee is just masked or there isn't enough sweetner/flavor to where it just falls flat. They hit this one right in that sweet spot of just right. All in all, I'm stoked to have a new shop in Chino and I cant wait to try more of their drinks! read more

SET Coffee was one of the stops during my coffee tour around the Chino Hills area. The interior has a bright plywood style wood tone, high ceilings, and additional seating toward the back, which makes it a comfortable place to sit and have a conversation. It doesn't necessarily feel like the design was overly curated or heavily invested in, but the spaciousness of the shop gives it a nice atmosphere. After having a few disappointing coffee experiences recently, I didn't come in with high expectations. But the male staff member who helped me was friendly and gave good explanations. You could tell he was really trying his best, which I appreciated. Also, while it wasn't the absolute best coffee I've ever had, the basic coffee quality was solid. It felt like the coffee was being made by someone experienced possibly a manager, owner, or a skilled barista. These days, a lot of places open under the name of "specialty coffee", but put most of their focus on very sweet drinks or matcha based drinks. Personally, I think if a place calls itself a coffee shop, the quality of the basic coffee still needs to reach a certain level. In that sense, SET Coffee felt like one of the few shops in this area that still respects the basics. It's definitely a place I would visit again to try more of their coffee. read more
