Set coffee is an amazing place for your coffee desires. I loved learning about the backstory of their name being "Set" the number 3 in Korean for the three founders of this shop. The decor inside is relaxing for you and your party to unplug and enjoy each other's company. It is a delight to be inside with great music that sets you in a pleasant mood. There is a new back room area for bigger groups or even events. The line was out the door when we arrived, but the staff moved so fast that we barely waited. The coffee was very good. We ordered all three of the signature drinks, and the Set Spanner was the star of the show. It was crafted after a Korean rice cake dish, and they nailed it to perfection. The tonic coffee was also great. I am a fan of sparkling water so it was great for me. The pastries are also good. The salt bread with garlic cream is a must try. read more

The shop is relatively small, with a communal table and a few 2 person tables in the back. Depending on what your visit should be, maybe bring noise cancelling headphones in case people are there to chit chat. There were a few people working when I visited. Their menu isn't much, but got the basics and 3 specialty drinks: injeolmi (Korean soybean powder, think kinako in Japanese desserts) latte, green plum espresso tonic, and a cinnamon latte. They have pastries from Long Beach, Nonna Mercado, I believe? I was stopping by before meeting up for breakfast so didn't try any. I went with their espresso tonic, highly recommending this for those who want something refreshing instead of a sweet/creamy drink. My friend got their injeolmi latte, which had that sweet and creamy taste. It was delicious, the worker there said it's their most popular drink, makes sense. Did I taste much of a soybean powdery taste? Nope, but I also find kinako mochi super plain. By the way, they serve Onyx coffee here, which has recently won #1 in world's best coffee. Another plus! The front seating area has beautiful and large tables with bright lighting but the area in the back is warm and homey, like a comfort space. I felt like I was transported to a completely different space with their aesthetic & high ceilings. Service was friendly and welcoming upon entry and the space was remarkably clean. Drinks are reasonably priced, not too much ice and appropriate sizing yay! Set Spanner (8/10): The coffee in this was sooo yum. The cold foam really does taste like injeolmi haha which unfamiliar (at least in coffee for me) but pleasant! Set Latte (7.5/10): Liked the cinnamon in this! It wasn't too overbearing, complimented the brown sugar and honey very well. Reminded me a little of a Spanish Latte. Matcha Einspanner (8/10): Decent matcha, I wouldn't say my favorite but I would still get it again. I like their cold foam it wasn't too thick and was delicious. The location has tons of parking and is centered in a large shopping center, with close by shopping as mentioned above. The inside of the store is intentional with a minimalistic order counter, letting there be more space to sit, work or meet with friends. I'm lucky enough to have been twice before their grand opening and the coffee is great. The employees are so, so welcoming and friendly. I never felt rushed to order or just another customer. You would never know they were in a soft opening phase with both the crowds, and quality of drink. They've been quick to push out the drinks leaving minimal wait time. Went for the first time today. Ordered a coconut cloud matcha and the staff were very accommodating in letting me add a little mango puree (They have a mango rice matcha but I didn't want oat milk). It was very delicious and well balanced. Not too sweet. Enough matcha flavor that everything else doesn't take away from the matcha itself. The shop is well kept and minimal. The staff were very welcoming and warm. As per the name of the shop, SET, it delivers on providing a third space to study, mingle, and enjoy your drink. Its supposed to be sweetener with mesil - a korean plum extract. However, it was a little lackluster as the plum flavor didn't pop out at all even though I asked them for more of it, I'm not sure if its because it wasn't dissolved well or because it's not that strong but I would've liked the plum flavor to just come out a little more. Saw that this cafe opened and wanted to give it a try. This place is great!! First, the drinks have been really good. I've been able to come by a few times and try a few different ones. The SET Latte is really good, it's sweet and maintains a nice coffee flavor. I love the thickness of the cold foam in the SET-Spanner as well. I've also ordered a Cortado and was impressed! Beyond drinks, they have pastries, which looked great. Honestly, what I like most about this cafe is the environment. This is a great place to do work, study, or just hang out. There are plenty of tables to sit at and outlets at each table in the front room, so you can charge your laptop or phone. The clean, minimalist decor throughout the cafe is nice (love all the vinyl albums they put up!). The large windows in front bring in a lot of light, which is nice if you're working or hanging there for a while. The back room is really cool too, it feels like a separate little pocket with a lot of seating as well. The staff have been very friendly and helpful when I've asked any questions or for recommendations. The wait has for my drinks has been short as well. Parking was very easy to find outside the cafe. We tried the ube matcha latte and set latte. We got less sweet for both and that was perfect for us. The ube foam is very creamy and strong but it does overpower the matcha a little bit, so if you're looking for a strong matcha drink I would get something else! I also tried the Setspnanner. The drink itslef was a good hazelnut drink, but not very strong in coffee flavor. I did not care for the foam on top. However, once it mixed with the drink I would describe it as tasting like Honey Nut Cherios milk. Service was friendly. Loved (almost) everything about this coffee shop! Baristas were professional, welcoming, and knowledgeable about their drinks. We asked about the sweetness levels of the Injeolmi Set-Spanner and the Mango Sticky Rice Matcha, and our barista correctly identified that the Set-Spanner is on the less sweet side and the Mango Sticky Rice Matcha is on the sweeter side. As a result, my boyfriend and I decided to get both of our drinks half sweet, and it worked out great. Even at half sweet, the Mango Sticky Rice Matcha was still just a tad sweeter than I personally would've liked, but the flavor was so accurate and delicious, I didn't mind. Similarly, I couldn't really taste the matcha bc of how sweet and mangoey the drink was. But again, the combination of flavors was genius, so I didn't mind. The texture of the matcha cream was very nice. The Set-spanner was my fav of the two bc of how gently sweet it was. Loved the subtle nutty injeolmi, and the deep, rich espresso flavor, with just the perfect hint of sweetness at 1/2 sweet. Decor/ambience I were cozy and intentional - they did a great job decorating the space. The lack of outlets in the back room and the lack of back support in all of the seats was disappointing, but I guess they gotta keep customers moving along somehow. I came here on a Friday with my cousins for our Eid coffee. It was a little hard to find since the map just took us to the plaza, but it is located next to Sunright. I went to SET Coffee for the first time this week around 9am. The service was friendly and quick, and I appreciated the ample seating and large water cups available for guests. There is lots of great space for studying with long tables filling the front of the shop. Based on our experience (2 coffee drinks, 2 matcha drinks), their matcha is their specialty and their coffee is more average. My sister and I really enjoyed the matcha but I would ask for a little less agave in the matcha as I prefer my drinks less sweet. We tried the garlic salt bread which was a little disappointing because the cream cheese filling was sweetened which to me was not a great pairing with the savory garlic flavor. I would consider coming back for matcha but at $7.50 for a drink I won't be making it a frequent habit. read more

The customer service was warm and welcoming, the coffee was delicious and fairly priced, and parking was easy to find. Honestly, no complaints! I spent the day working here and it ended up being the perfect spot. The space has great natural lighting, especially by the big windows, outlets at every table, and it made for such a calm and productive atmosphere. They have a nice selection of drinks, and their signature lattes looked really tempting. Lately I've been on a flat white obsession, so I ordered one and was very happy with my purchase. My wife and I, who love matcha, coffee, will go out of our way for it, saw this place on social media and obviously we HAD to try it but this place is the biggest rip off ever. They're trying to ride the matcha and salt bread trend and just straight juicing their customers. Their entire demeanor also seems they just dont care as long as you're paying their inflated prices for mediocrity. First, for drinks, we ordered the Set Spanner and the Duul Matcha. The Set Spanner was super grainy and we both were trying to figure out if there was something wrong with the drink. The Duul Matcha is supposedly ceremonial grade but you'd unable to tell because you can barely taste it. They're probably skimping on that too since its "so expensive" while charging $7.50 for 10oz. Next, we got their plain "salt bread" which is supposed to be a buttery, crispy on the outside, and thin layered bread but this place was a literal Texas Roadhouse dinner roll with salt sprinkled on top. You'd be better off getting a King's Hawaiian Roll and sprinkling some salt on top. And for $5 each?! They didnt even put in the effort to do it right. At least with King's Hawaiian, I'd have gotten the whole pack. We also had their strawberry croissant which was fine but stale, which is crazy considering it was 11am. Lastly, what is up with no one wearing headgear in the kitchen while dealing with food? The one female employee, who was grinding and handling the coffee just working with her hair flowing, untied, while the other 2 male employees finishing the drinks weren't either. Maybe since we've both been in the restaurant industry for so long, we know thats a health code violation under California Retail Food Code (Health and Safety Code § 113969) for anyone handling any food. Also, they move like pond water while chatting it up amongst themselves while hovering over your drinks. As long as the line outside is long, i guess they're good. Next time, I'd rather drive to Garden Grove for matcha than come back. read more
