If you like ube you came to the right spot. The last time I came to one of these franchise is in San Diego and they are super good. I'll be in sugar high today. But a good kind. place is cute small but has seatings. Staff here are nice and friendly. Place is nice and clean. Good for college students or people who want to do work. It's like mini Starbucks but better. come and check it out. Now check my reviews about the beautiful pasties and drinks.

Thai iced tea is one of the $3 specials! Sweet (literally)

Power tip: first time here. Nice atmosphere and friendly service. Tried the halo halo for the first time--pretty neat, but a lot of things going on at the top. The all-day $3 drink specials are pretty nice.

7/19/25 A little bigger (shop) than the one in Artesia? Cute

7/19/25 Okay, halo-halo was calling me all week, today's your lucky day, I responded! Sydney is so sweet & helpful while taking my order. She made my special treats too, with a smile. I ordered a regular halo-halo (and unknowingly the owner said, to try the upside down halo-halo wink-wink) and being greedy, ordered the Ube matcha latte too. I was eyeing the Ube leche flan cupcakes then my eyes wandered to one fun, Ube crack cheesecake. I need to be blindfolded next time. lol. This shop is somewhat lost in a nondescript little strip of businesses but inside is cute with nice aesthetics, a few tables, chairs & some comfy couches to enjoy your sweets. The regular halo-halo was so so good! Totally hit the spot, love the crunch of the cornflakes (of course it's not the same as pinipig which is toasted smashed rice, if you grew up in the Philippines, you will get it), all the wonderful ingredients like boba, kaong (don't ask me translate coz I don't know)... etc, oh and the Ube ice cream! Get yours!!!

Was in the area house shopping. I was delighted that there was cafe 86 nearby. I didn't know the Chino shop relocated to here until I arrived. I have good memories of the Chino location. I ordered my usual Rosie milk tea. It tasted different from the Chino and Cerritos location, but it wasn't bad. Workers were friendly. If I lived in the area, it would definitely be my study spot but the hours are not the greatest. No early bird nor late night study sessions here. It doesn't open until 1230pm and closes at 7pm most days! Yikes. Wish they had better business hours.

Mais Con Yelo. Has Sweet Creamed Corn, Vanilla Base, Frosted Flakes, and Magnolia Ube ice cream (the best ube ice cream)

Known for their ube drinks and ube desserts, I asked if they had anything chocolate wise so this is what I got, the Milo Cupcake. Soooo good and not too overly sweet either. Same with the Hibiscus Calamansi drink. Very refreshing and not overly sweet as well! Love this place! Service is always great here! The ambiance is very chill.

Awesome everything! Desserts, drinks, service is excellent here. Welcoming and friendly informative. You can order at the kiosk or at the register. Plenty to choose from and able to accommodate special requests for allergies. Ya that's me. Lovely inside seating and lounge area to sit and sip a while. Bar height seating or low top tables. Parking right in front with easy access.

I've tried 3 things and the top drink is the upside down halo halo Matcha milkshake I got without the cookie crumbles and it was okay. Not bad. The mais con Yelo was not as expected. Considered more of a savory drink. The vanilla base was very light. Not sweet like the halo halo. The corn is good. Maybe if you mix it, it tastes better. Still didn't work for us. Upside down halo halo is very good. What I expected, maybe more. My husband said he didn't want a drink and would maybe take a bite of the ice cream. He ended up finishing half my drink. The jack fruit was very minimal. The staff was really kind and helpful which led me to write this review. The place is cute. Restroom available to customers. Ample parking. Came back here the next day after trying it the first time. Definitely my go to when I'm craving sweets.

    Ube crinkles soooo good!

Ube truffle - hands down, my favorite! Dark and rich in color, with a deep color purple hue. Decadent and velvety good. Literally screams "Ube goodness" 5/5 Ube Crinkle Cookie - hubby likes this, which is not too sweet 4/5

Cafe 86 (Chino Hills) evoked immediate happiness. The Upside Down Halo Halo caused an audible gasp as its addicting, sweet flavor pummeled into me. It's one of the best ube (aka: sweet purple yam) desserts that I have ever tasted. Cafe 86 (Chino Hills) sells devastatingly delicious ube drinks. The Upside Down Halo Halo ($10.50) is unique and delicious. I waited seven minutes. I arrived on a weekday (around 3:00PM). Unlike ordinary Halo Halos, this beverage is more reminiscent of a shake with add-ons. Instead of crushed ice, the drink flows like thick, velvety ube milk. It includes silky ice cream; light, crunchy flakes; heavy, deep flan; and bouncy, bottom toppings. It's a myriad of prominent, complimentary flavors and textures. Cafe 86 (Chino Hills) displayed a charming, faux-rustic ambiance. The brick walls and hanging lanterns are pleasant and attractive. It's clean and well-ventilated. The location included free wifi with password and electrical sockets for devices. Its music is soft. Customers order from counter or self-service kiosk. Overall, Cafe 86 (Chino Hills) considerably impressed me. The Upside Down Halo Halo is memorable, unique, and exquisite. If you love ube, I whole heartedly recommend. 5/5

How did I not know about this place?! Ube heaven! Or like their logo says, Ube nerd lol. If you love Ube, you must try this place. We bought the sampler pack that includes 4 desserts and Hibiscus Calamansi drink for only $20. The iced Ube matcha is fresh and delicious! Plenty of space to sit and enjoy with friends. The workers are friendly and helpful with ordering. As my daughter said, this place is dangerous! Will be back often.

I was looking for a refreshing beverage after my hike and knew I could count on Cafe 86. Loved my calamansi juice & mais con yelo dessert bar. Both so delicious and lovely familiar filipino flavors I love. Interior is spacious, clean, and cute. Service is so very friendly. Highly recommend! They also have locations in Cerritos and Carson if Chino Hills is out of your way.

Caramel latte, mini halo halo, Mais con yelo bar, ube cashew brownie
    Isabela M.

Nice little place to get a sweet treat. Our order came out pretty fast. Their halo halo is one of my favorites. I love the corn flakes because it adds a nice crunch. The treats were pretty good. The ube cashew white chocolate brownie was probably my favorite.

When are you opening up at your new location in Chino Hills?

I noticed your menu changed- does this mean you no longer have the coconut crème tea?

What is the base flavor for the halo halo, and are those corn flakes on top of the halo halo?

Is the house milk tea made with non dairy or dairy?

Is this place closed during quarantine?

They are open now! At least the one in Chino. You have to phone in or order online first.

Do you guys sell ube crinkles?

Yes ! They do. It's a flatter type but packs taste. I'd recommend.

The menu looks really delicious, what are the best drinks to order here?

The best drink is definitely the Hibiscus 🌺 calamansi iced tea. I've tried the other drinks and they were not great.

    Any vegan desserts?

Yes! They do a vegan ube bundt cake on Fridays or Sundays. I forget the day. ?

When I walked away, the barista also made a comment about the decaf drink that came across irritated. My friend had ordered a decaf beverage as well around the same time. While I was trying to focus on some work, one of the employees from the counter sat with a friend near the cashier area and they were speaking very loudly. Their conversation included comments about someone being Asian and arguing about whether someone was Black. It felt uncomfortable and unprofessional to overhear that kind of conversation while sitting in the shop. I hope the staff receive some basic customer service and professionalism training, as the atmosphere made it difficult to enjoy the space.

I'm a matcha person so I've only ever gotten their matcha, and if not just their strawberry hibiscus (no longer served), herbal tea, and strawberry milk. I love their selection of matcha: strawberry with chunks. One of the best I've had! Their blueberry matcha is pretty delicious also. The customer service is great. Everyone is kind and efficient. I'd say the baristas kind of keep to themselves though and aren't overly enthusiastic. But overall, still welcoming & nice! The atmosphere is simple with wood seating areas. I like it. However sitting for a long duration can be a little uncomfortable since there's not much back support, but luckily they have a basket with padded pillows to sit on. Recently they added tables along the corner nook area which is great! Aside from that they have little tray-like table tops to set your drinks on or laptops/books/etc; while working. There's also plenty of outlets which is a plus. Not to mention they always seem to have a good playlist goin' :) Oh! & they have outside seating as well underneath shaded umbrellas. My only complaint is it gets really hot in there during the hotter months. Especially since they're facing south and catch all the direct light early on in the day. Don't get me wrong, I love the natural lighting! It's just more prone to getting hotter & I'm not sure if they have A/C. I'm sure they probably do but it's never been exactly cold in there like most coffee shops, mainly room temperature. All in all Grid is a great spot! I highly recommend :)

I usually hit their San Marino spot, but this location still delivered the goods. The shop's a bit small inside, but service was nice. Grabbed my ride-or-die Koan-Im Oolong Latte and paired it with a donut from my favorite donut shop like I was assembling the perfect duo for a late night snack. The tea was lightly sweetened perfectly to my liking, smooth, and clearly crafted by someone who respects tea leaves more than I respect my sleep schedule. The cloud top was basically dalgona candy foam and felt like a bonus dessert after finishing the drink. Even with a lot of people waiing, service moved fast, in & out in about 7 mins. Quality tea, speedy service, and enough creamy foam happiness to make a milestone review feel deserved!! Highly recommend!!! Now for some poetry that's inspired my 1000th review: Warm glazed memories sift through my reverie. A pink box opened in the summer of 24. Days were bleak and hollow like a bakery shelf at closing. I saw the saddest eyes, soft as powdered sugar falling. Sweet like a dalgona cloud top koan-im oolong latte, but carrying a quiet ache no frosting could hide. That summer you saved me, like the first bite of something new when you thought you'd forgotten what butterflies felt like. The season changed and you suddenly disappeared.... just an empty pink box on the counter. Only crumbs remain now, where your strawberry-glazed humor used to melt into every moment like sugar on warm dough. My heart split like a jelly donut. Still, I'm grateful as the world is as it should be. I pass by the donut shop on 66 and smile. People think it's just about donuts. But once.... a long time ago, one saved my life.
