    Chicken Grilled Fajitas

I hadn't been to Serranos in two years before last week. It was dark and felt a bit dingy back then. But darn it, I wanted fajitas on a sizzling skillet and knew that Serranos did that. [[HIGHLIGHT]]What I hadn't counted on what the dramatically improved ambiance, salsa, grilled onions, and service.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The service improvement makes sense to me after meeting Stefan and seeing how he manages things. He's incredibly attentive and supportive of his staff so that drinks are properly filled etc if servers are occupied elsewhere. I came here for the second time in a week, and Stefan's hospitality skills are such that he knew my order from six days ago, having only met me once before. See you next week!

Went to lunch with my family at Serranos which is a reliable choice fort TexMex in Austin. Serranos is a Mexican restaurant and bar that merges family recipes with broader Mexican traditions. They are known for their handmade tortillas preparing food on a mesquite grill. Serranos serves scratch-made recipes that source the highest-quality ingredients possible. They start the meal with free tortilla chips and salsa. The salsa is a bit on the spicy side and is not my favorite. I wish there were some milder salsa options available for us gringos. Today I tried something new for my entree, and had the seasonal ensalada fresca with romaine lettuce tossed in cilantro lime vinaigrette, topped with fresh watermelon, cucumber, cilantro, cotija cheese, roasted pepitas, and pickled red onion. The salad was so fresh and had a full flavor profile with all the vegetables and was on the healthier side for a TexMex entree option. I normally order the Pollo Perfecto, Beef Fajita Enchiladas and they have a delicious tortilla soup as well. The service was friendly and efficient, proactive providing refills without us having to ask for it on chips, salsa and drinks. [[HIGHLIGHT]]I think they recently remodeled the restaurant recently so there is a modern vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Enjoyed my lunch visit and was excited to see the new seasonal items on the menu to add some variety to the staples that I normally order here.

James was our server here today and it was phenomenal. I think this was one of the best experiences I've had at a restaurant in a while. The food was amazing and everything tasted perfect. I can't explain enough how awesome James was... maybe it's coming to Austin from Seattle area but he was just the nicest most professional server I've ever had.

[[HIGHLIGHT]]I love the way this place is decorated. Large heavy wooden doors. Metal star lamps from the ceiling. It's a vibe in here![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] My parents and I split the beef fajitas. This is some of the best beef fajitas I've ever had. Our waitress Lo was nice and accommodating.

Us in Florida waiting for our delivery of Salsa

I lived in Austin, Texas for many years and my wife and I were frequent diners at Serranos. I was very fond of the hot sauce and always took some home to hold me over until the ext meal. After we moved to Florida, we would buy a quart to take home but it was so hot is would start leaking through the styrofoam container. That had us buying glass or plastic containers to hold it. After 23 years of doing that every time we came for a visit, my buddy started bringing me 2 quarts in glass jars each trip he made to Florida. I am now in hot sauce heaven. Thank you Serranos for making my chips and Salsa habit stay alive

I love Serranos. They have broad menu variety without being overwhelming. Their food is always above par. I love their chunky salsa! Today my server was a bit slow on the initial take and impersonal. I sat for quite a bit before he brought chips and took my drink order. He didn't have much to say - just write down what I said and went on. Today I got a half order of the shrimp nachos. It was just the right size for one. Sort of difficult to eat but after tearing it into pieces, it was yummy.

Water has a huge mold taste. Food here is pretty decent but the service is extremely poor. The food here is decent to good (minus the rice). Tortillas are homemade nice and thick, salsita is great and the Tulum plate is pretty flavorful. Here's the thing. The server not once made any refill, asked how the food was or asked if we needed anything else. Didn't bother asking if we'd like the check --just came by and plopped two papers down without asking if we needed anything else. This could use tons and tons of improvement. We let our server know that our child has allergies and she said she'd ask the cook if the fries were fried in peanut oil or contained dairy additives and never came back with any information on allergens.

    Chicken Enchiladas Lunch Special
    Brooke D.

Came here the other day for lunch with some coworkers and we all really enjoyed it here. I got the chicken enchiladas with verde sauce and it was really good. I also thought the beans and rice were good, the beans were seasoned well. My coworkers both enjoyed their meals as well. The chips and salsa here were really good and the salsa was honestly kind of spicy. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Apparently this location was renovated recently and I had never been here before but I think the restaurant looks really nice.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our food came out super fast and the service was great. Very random, but I saw a review that said the water tasted like mold?? Thought that was really weird and definitely did not think that at all, one of my coworkers actually commented on how the water tasted really good here.

As the sign says, "No Ticket, No Taco!" so don't lose it. Seating is limited and the line can get long, but they move fast. And don't come expecting cheese or sour cream -- the only add‑ons here are cilantro, onions, salsa, and guacamole. It's a stripped‑down menu, and they stick to it. The tacos are solid. The beef isn't anything remarkable, but the chicken is tender, moist, and genuinely flavorful. The quesadilla is the sleeper hit; the baked cheese gives it a deep, savory punch that outshines the tacos. The onions and cilantro greatly balance each bite, while the salsa and guacamole are necessary and fundamental to tying the flavors together.. Somehow I'd never been despite living so close, so I was excited to finally check it off my list. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful, and their famous foyer is just as pretty in person as everyone says. I came with a friend, and we grabbed seats at the bar first while waiting, but I definitely recommend making reservations because this place is BUSY, even on a weeknight. Parking can also be a bit of a struggle since they have a pretty small lot. I had to make a few laps before I finally found a spot, so definitely give yourself a little extra time. They do offer valet, and I believe you may also be able to park in the lot next door after hours since it's their sister restaurant, but don't quote me on that haha. Their margaritas are also really good and definitely on the stronger side, so they were a great way to start the meal. The staff here was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout the night. They even walked us to our table and later showed me where the bathroom was, which I thought was a really nice touch. As for the food, it definitely lives up to the hype. It's on the pricier side, but everything tasted incredibly fresh and was well worth it. We ordered the enchiladas, which were delicious, and the shrimp was probably my favorite part of the meal because it was so fresh and perfectly cooked. I can definitely see why this restaurant has been around for so long and has such a loyal following. It took me way too long to finally come here, but I'll definitely be back. One thing I'm noticing as we do these is that you often write reviews that are genuinely useful--not just "food good/bad." You include things like reservations, parking, what to order, or where to sit. I think we should keep leaning into that because it feels very authentic to your style and makes your reviews stand out.
