It being my birthday this week, I wanted to treat myself to a little bit of pampering over the weekend. I've found a gem of a place on the Northwest side (Coachline Nails, if you're in the Marana area) and have been making the trip up to them to get my fills... even though I moved to the east side a few months ago! I know it's time to detach the cord, and find a new east place side. However, nail salons are tricky. They are a dime a dozen, and run the gamut from knock-your-socks-off to DON'T-TAKE-YOUR-SOCKS-OFF!! I turned to Yelp, and found Serenity from it's high reviews... and decided to give it a shot! The other reviews were accurate. It was a pretty standard set up, pedicure spa chairs on one side, nail stations on the other. What set's this place apart is the little details. The chairs are of higher quality, for starters. Rather than the dinky vibrating chairs, this one has a very nice roller ball massage... I was sore the next day! (In a good way). I noted that there is a wall of personal supply boxes for the regulars. They gave me a menu of pedicure types, and I selected the standard pedicure ($25) with the add on callus remover ($5) for a total of $30. Sandy was my tech, and she was friendly and through. The callus remover was essentially a very heavy duty scrubbing--don't sign up for this until you have very tough Arizona feet like mine! But I wear sandals 99% of the year, and my feet show it. The amount of goop she got off was both fabulous and horrifying. Worth every penny of my extra $5. I also thought the massage was above average, very lovely! I also noted the curtains in between the pedicure stations... tied back while I was there, but Sandy said it was popular with the men getting their feet done (GAH! No one can know I am getting a pedicure!). Feet look great, on to the fill. My nails were in ROUGH shape. One had popped off, the others were grown way out. I've had acrylic nails for many years--No, I haven't been able to make the leap to the gel nails, my nails are thin thin thin and I need some OOMPH to keep them from breaking. So I've come to appreciate a good fill... there really is an art to it. And having experienced both fantastic and awful fills, I can pick out when someone knows what they are doing. I'd give my gal an 8 out of 10... The only reason it wasn't a 10 was because afterwards I had an under nail (my real nail) that didn't get glued and it was jagged underneath. An easy oversight, but still annoying to have to deal with. I noticed during my fill that there were vents on the wall, next to the nail stations. I asked if these were special air vents? My tech said yes... expensive to install, but these special air vents right next to the nail stations kept the air as fresh as possible and avoided that nail salon odor... and now that she mentioned it, it did smell pretty chemical free! A nice touch for folks who are sensitive to smells. My fill was $15, plus an extra $3 for fixing the broken nail, for a total of $48 for both the pedicure and the fill. So... I think I have a new eastside nail place! Not as good for fills on my first visit, but overall it is a clean, orderly, and friendly place! NOTE: There are actually TWO nail salons in this strip... there's one in the freestanding buildings closest to the Broadway/Harrison intersection, and Serenity is actually back in the corner of the main line of businesses... make sure you go to the back corner if you're looking for Serenity! read more

Last weekend I went to my regular place (who shall remain nameless for evermore) to get my nails done and at 11AM on a Sunday they only had one employee there with one customer in the spa chair and six waiting. I was told it would be a long wait and could I please come back in a couple of hours. Yeah, not so much. Imagine my surprise when I discovered Serenity Nail Spa just a hop, skip and jump away. For the exact same price ($37 for a mani/pedi) I was treated to no waiting, a cold bottle of water, a complimentary hot stone leg massage, hot towels after the normal massage with lotion (hands & feet) and a very detailed mani/pedi. The interior of this nail salon is very chic. Spa chairs are separated by tied back curtains and calming spa-like artwork on the walls. For a small fee ($5), they will store the nail tools used for you in a small box for your next visit & keep them separate from everything else. For those worried about hygiene problems with sharing salon tools, this is a great idea and the first I've ever seen in a nail salon. I love the idea and intend to take them up on it on my next visit. But what sold me on this nail salon? What made them my new 'regular place,' you ask? I've now had a chip-free fire engine red manicure 5+ days. That is amazing and a telling sign of the quality of service at this salon. (It's not even Shellac!) read more

'Twas a time when I would treat myself to a weekly mani-pedi. Now it seems like a semi-yearly thing, if that. (I know!!) Then, there was all that talk about icky infections... So, I let my pedi-area go "natural". The upside: I could walk across fire with my calloused heels. The downside: well, sandals aren't a pretty option. However. I do believe I'm a lucky girl because the first nail salon I spotted after we moved to Tucson a year and half ago -- literally a stone's throw from my home on the East Side -- earns its five stars. In spades. Do I go monthly? Um, no. But when I do.... OMG! ... it must be Serenity Nail Spa. I have been in for three pedicures (only three in a year and a half? I know!!) and the staff are always welcoming. The massaging chairs are magical stress-relievers. And, four weeks after my last pedicure, my polish appears to be... well, bulletproof! (Although I haven't taken an actual bullet to it.) I am feeling ready for a holiday treat and dreaming about Serenity's full-Monty for feet, which includes a moisturizing "mask" and a few other tricks to smooth stubborn calluses. Ahhhhh! read more

I was sent here by someone who had a great experience. I made an appointment at 10:30 for a mani/pedi and wasn't in the chair until 11:30. They have many options for pedicures which are all nicely laid out in a brochure. I wasn't really given an option. I had Wendy who seemed to rush the whole time. While she did an awesome job on my calluses(which usable extra charge), she did not take her time shaping my nails or pushing back my cuticles. Nor did she even put a second coat of color on my toes. I actually had to ask Wendy to reshape my nails as they were complete uneven on my hands. She also cut my cuticle on my hand and just poured alcohol in it. (Ouch!!) I don't get mani/pedi's often, nor do I go to nail salons often as I am very good at doing my own nails. But on that one time i'd like to be pampered, I'd like to get pampered. I don't think I will ever go back. I will stick to going to full service spas for all my nail needs. If you go, do not go to Wendy! read more

I Tried Serenity Nails one time. It was also, the first time, I took my daughter to get a pedicure. It was a special day for her. The girls who did our nails, we're so distracted that they barely said hello. It felt so impersonal. The nail girl also left my feet in the water so that she could give someone an eyebrow wax......TWICE! I have been going to salons for years, and never had someone multitask so much. They also only did a very light coat of polish. Usually they do an undercoat, 2 or 3 of polish, and a clear top coat. I felt they took short cuts. The chairs seem old and uncomfortable. I did not return. Plenty of great Salons in town......I found a better one. read more

I visited today to get a gel pedicure and once I walked no one spoke or greeted me. I wanted a deluxe pedicure but she never asked, no foot scrub or anything, allowing customers to come in without a mask, never wipe down chairs after people leave and you guys just have simply terrible customer service. If you want a real pedicure at a nail salon you feel welcomed at go to Final Touch Nails on Golf Links. Kelly does an awesome job on my eyelash extensions I've gone in twice now and it's totally worth it to not have to put on makeup all the time and have black circles under my eyes from mascara marks after long days at work. I have only been here once but found the service to be quite pleasant. This was my go to nail place... until recently I started feeling unwelcome. I always feel rushed to pick a nail color and when I dont like it (because they never match what's on the sample) they seem to get upset if I ask to change it. Last I remember, I am still paying for service and if I am unhappy with it, I am allowed to speak up. I tend to have to get acrylic on some of my toes due to injuries and there was no in-between long and super short...but God forbid I say anything for fear of them being rude to me. Today, I straight out asked if I should return because I feel unwanted and the lady just said "noooo". Never once asked why I felt that way. I was practically in tears. Another lady that worked there noticed and asked if I was okay, I said no, but that was the extent of it. Also, I was told they just take turns on who does the nails... why ask what tech the patron wants if you aren't going to abide by it? I just dont understand how when paying (a high amount at that) I am supposed to just accept whatever crappy job is provided to me. What happened to customer service? I have been going to this nail spa for a few years. Kelly is the best! I always feel they appreciate my business. Good customer service. The salon is clean, well organized with good communication. The staff is always friendly and helpful. You can have your own personal spa box that they will store there for you. They might try to get an add on sale, but that is how a business makes money. I don't blame them for that, they are never pushy. Walk ins seem to get right in, but I always call and make an appt. I always feel welcome, get a good mani or pedi for a good price. Years ago used to come here every 2 weeks but moved out of the area. My mom comes here regularly and sees Tiffany who takes great care of her. Today i had Nancy do gel mani and reg toes and she was great! The staff is extremely friendly and kind. My mom uses a wheelchair and they help her in and out of the chairs as well as do everything they can to make things easier for her. Great salon! read more

I am beyond pleased with the service I received while having my nails done. I never had a gel manicure or pedicure done and the ladies suggested it. I couldn't be more happier, while getting my pedicure another tech was working on my manicure. I felt like a celebrity haha. It's the little things! I was also offered either water or soda during my visit. Both girls that were working on my nails continued to talk to me which was nice from that silent visit as you hear the ladies chat in their native tongue. The price was very reasonable. I would recommend this salon to friends and family. This was the worst experience I have had getting my nails done. I had made an appointment to get a full set of gel nails. At first the nail tech tried to just do a normal manicure. I told him that I wanted a full set of gel nails and he started to put acrylic nails on. I once again asked for gels and he did it. However, one of the tips was put on crooked. The rest of the tips he did not file straight. At that point, I just wanted out and they look okay at a glance so I let it go. As I had my hands under the light to cure the gel, he left and never came back so I actually had to put on my own nail conditioner so I could leave. This brand new set started lifting within a week. Now at 2 weeks one of the nails has already popped off. This is such a poor job! My normal nail girl is on vacation and her nails easily last 3 weeks, even if it is a fill. This is my usual nail salon but after this time I will not be back. I got a full set and they came out terrible. Two nails are really short and the rest are long and completely uneven. She was very ruff and cut my fingers up. The lady was so rude, she keep saying "you need your eyebrows waxed bad" like that is so rude and an insult. Wasn't to happy about that. On top of all this she keep pressuring me to pay. Usually you pay after your completely done and your nails are dry but she made me pay before she even painted my nails. Never going back again. My daughter and I and our friends have all been going to Serenity for years and we love it. As other reviewers indicated, you can pay a one-time fee of $5.00 and have your own personal box with some nail tools and can bring in other ones if you like to keep in your box. Kelly does beautiful nail art and the one time I didn't like the design she did, she didn't mind at all removing it and doing a different one. The employees are always friendly, although they can get very busy at times! Serenity is where I got my first gel manicure and it was beautiful! So, months later when I was out of the area and wanted to get another gel manicure, I went to a different salon. I have no idea what the difference was but that gel manicure lifted off of several nails. I went back and they repaired them but it happened again! I've had gel manicures at Serenity since then and they've never lifted, so I'm sticking with the place I know I can trust! Besides a whole menu of different pedicure types and manicures, they also do waxing and again, I go to Kelly. She listens to me and does my brows the way I want them and I actually get compliments on my eyebrows after she does them! The guy that gave me a pedicure did a decent job minus the extra nail polish left on my toes (not nails), the girl that did my friends pedicure was ok but she did cause a small but painful cut. We came an hour before closing and I felt like we were rushed so they could leave exactly at 7. Let me start off by saying I've never been yelled at by a nail technician before going here. So, I was getting a gel manicure and asked her nicely to make sure the polish didn't go over my skin or else the polish would lift when they started growing out. So she fixed one nail and said she would fix the rest after she finished. Then I noticed there was polish all over some of my fingers so I asked if she was going to be able to get it off and she said yes, so I just waited. She was done with the manicure and still nothing was fixed so I asked her if she could fix another nail and she said "I'll just take all of it off because you complain too much". So I said "okay, yeah that works", because it looked horrible anyways. Then she got up and started going off on some rant and made another tech finish my nails. The other tech asked what was wrong and I told her and the lady who originally did my nails started going off on yet another rant and said it wasn't her fault, I just "didn't like the polish" !! Definitely not the reason, I told her the reason. She proceeded to argue and then yell at me and was adamant that I speak to the owner on the phone and then disappeared to the back. The other tech was kind but left my nails a wreck as well so I had to go to another salon where they were able to fix it. I'm sure they have good reviews bc maybe the other techs do a good job and are kinder? But if you go here do not have the larger Asian woman with glasses do your nails. I usually go to Nail Pros and Spa (they were closed for the weekend), but I highly recommend them and they're cheaper read more
