I made an appointment online with Loan for an SNS manicure and regular polish pedicure. When I came in I had an appointment time but wound up not seeing her. My service cost me around $95 without tip. Robert(also the owner) was the technician who did my manicure. He was pleasant. It had been over a month since I went for a manicure. He didn't clean around my nails or spend a lot of time filing them. He immediately went in to buffing them down and applying polish. He nicked my skin on multiple fingers with the drill buffer. He never made a comment or apology about that, though it was obvious. It pinches and hurts now. The color came out beautiful, but I didn't receive any lotion or a massage at the end. You should not come out of a mani with dry looking and nicked fingers. For a similar or less price I have received a better manicure at other establishments. They made me bleed on my middle finger and pointer on my right hand. The manicurist attempted to put glue on my open wounds I guess to stop the bleeding, but I told her not to do that! I told her I didn't want the gel manicure anymore; I didn't trust her abilities and I was ready to just leave. She charged me full price for gel pedicure and gel manicure. I have mixed feelings about my visit here-but 99% of that was after the fact. Definitely would have been an immediate 4 stars if I'd written my review right after my service. I had a spa pedicure and a really nice nail tech, the chair massage was good and the technician's calf/foot massage was great, but.....my polish started chipping the next day. I don't care for gel pedicures but maybe that's what I'll need to try if I return. My preferred polish is OPI, which was only available in gel. I also only had an hour so I had to skip the hot towels and paraffin but the price remained the same. Also out of the first two scents I requested for my service. The location couldn't be more convenient for me so I'm sure I'll try it again, just remember to allot a full 90-120 minutes and also to go for the gel polish. This is a bummer. I've been here a few times now and while the place looks great, is exceptionally clean, and comfortable, the actual product (in my case a pedicure) is subpar. I'm attaching photos of my pedicure today and you can see that only part of my little toe nails were painted, while my big toe has paint in my skin and the nails unevenly cut. This lack of attention to detail has been my experience at Serenity over all, but do to its location, I have kept trying just hoping that at the next appointment I would meet the right technician. I probably should have complained about this last pedicure but I had already wasted so much time and wanted to get out of there. At this point though I think it is time for me to find another place that likes repeat business. read more

Very disappointed. I have been a loyal customer to this salon for a few years now. Although I can't complain about my regular nail tech who always does a wonderful job. My visit on November 21st was very disappointing and upsetting. I called the day of to request a gel full set and the owner informed me that they did not have a full staff that day but that her husband was able to take us in with no problem. Now since I did have my brothers wedding the day of I was in desperate need to get my nails done. I did appreciate her getting both myself and my friend in the same day. The service and experience I got from her husband was not what I expected. He started with my friend on her full set and then continued with my full set. He was not attentive to what I had requested at all. I felt like he was rushing through the service as if he had somewhere to be. Here are my complaints.. 1) He did not even give us the option of the shape of the nail.. he went right off to start with a coffin shape which by the time I realized it was too late so I did not say anything. 2) The size of the tips for certain nails didn't seem to be the correct size for that specific nail 2) Some of the nails were overfilled by the acrylic powder. 3) The nail polish wasn't fully painted on the whole nail as it should be which made the nails look like it was 3 weeks in already. 4) There was effort to clean up the area of leftover nail polish on my hands I didn't realize all of this until I left the salon and since I had my brothers wedding the day of I didn't have time to actually complain in person until 2 days later. Now I did make an appointment after the incident on December 18th given the fact that my regular tech was back but I thought since the owner was aware of the disappointment in the previous visit she would come and apologize and correct the problem. She did not offer any type of reimbursement or compensation which did not show good customer service at all. I was able to bare with their overpriced services only because of my nail tech doing a wonderful job. Now although I will miss her very much but with the lack of detail to customer service I do not see myself coming back. I no longer recommend this place. read more

LOVE THIS SALON. I have. Been going to this salon for years. Lilly is my technician and the owner. She always does a great job and is always concerned with me the customer and all customers. She always makes sure I'm happy with my nails and any other service I have done. I see a review from earlier tonight and I wanted to add I was there and saw the interaction with the reviewer and Lilly (she is the owner) . The reviewer was not polite and wouldn't let Lilly talk. Lilly offered to redo her nails and fix the issue but the reviewer said she had no time. Just kept yelling and talking over the owner. The reviewer only wanted full refund ( for all services received even though her pedicure was good. Lilly was trying to make her happy but to no avail. Not even deserve the one star. This lady doing nails doesn't listen to what we ask for, and I don't understand why. I ask the person who did my nail DO NIT USE THE machine to take my Gel nail color. Or not use to much. Hang the person who did my nails, she did a good job on my pedicure, but my manicure was horrible. All of my nails are thin and not smooth. Feel like 6 years old done my nails.The Gel nail already has damaged. She was rushing to get another customer. Every time I am going I asking them to not use the machine. I went here last May (I just made a Yelp account now though to start writing about my experiences) and this was my first time getting my nails done ever and it was painful. I got a full set of acrylics done and took a friend with me. I had an appt, so I didn't have to wait long and the decor was beautiful. However, they rushed us when choosing a color and were not gentle! So after she had done 1 nail, I told her I wanted to change the color; she said okay and then let me take my time finally, which is the only reason I tipped her. Their nail techs rush so don't go here expecting a relaxing experience! My friend and I left with SO MANY nicks to our fingers that it burned, and the whole 2.5 weeks I had my acrylics on, it was so painful and my nails and fingers felt sore, I had no idea this was not normal. Yelp came through...again... I love my nail place in Fairfax but had read such good reviews about Serenity Nails & Spa, and this place is a tad closer to me. It was also easy to get a very last minute appt so off I went! The space is awesome. It's different compared to the plethora of nails places in the area. When I walked in, I saw small spaces of pedi loungers. It was not a big room filled with a long line of pedicure loungers. This place has their sectioned off in separate areas. There are 4-6 chairs in each section. I feel like it's a bit more intimate and private. They also have a VIP room( 4 chairs and a private area with a glass door) that you can book for an extra $10 a person, you add it to your pedicure selection(pedi priced from $35 on up depending on what kind of scrub, organic treatments, etc). They have a big menu of services just for pedicures. I was impressed by the offer of fruit and beverages(sodas, water all served in nice glasses). They use timers here because they advertise about $1 a minute, and want to make sure you get your full treatment. It's a cool concept. My pedi was awesome. I added the salt scrub for an addition $5. I also had some fancy painting done. They took their time and made sure everything was pristine. Each staff member was friendly, accommodating and patient. I just got my nails done by Lilly (2). She's very kind and professional, and willing to answer any questions I had. I'll be returning in 3 weeks to have the acrylic dip on my nails removed. I highly recommend her. The salon is very clean and well kept. Note: (1) there is a $2.00 service charge for a credit card purchase, and (2) you cannot put the tip on the card. I've been coming here several times now... and just over it! I come here because of the convenience and the availability of associates without appointments. However, it is starting to feel like it's not worth it anymore. I pay $35 to get my gel manicure down but in 5 days, the polish start to chip away! It does not happen with other places! Trust me I'm someone that gives everyone the benefit of the doubt but after the 4th visit of awful nails I finally came to my senses and said I need a new place not a new person. My final straw was when mimi did my nails, he was nice but did an awful gel to the point it literally lasted not even 2 hours before two nails peeled off. I really like this place because it's close to my house and normally the service is good. However today I was really annoyed because I told my technician I had to leave by a certain time. She was very chatty and left me unattended many times to help another technician or help other clients when there were 8 other ladies not doing anything just watching their shows on their phone. I visited this place on 1/14/21. The worst pedicure I have ever received. First the woman started off visibly angry because I declined the pedicure upgrades then starts by digging into my toe. I had to pull my foot back and said ow. They used 2 tools being the cuticle pusher and pointed tip for under the nail. Also were extremely dull. She used no oils, no cuticle softener and a cheap lotion. My hot towel was on for a good 10 seconds then removed. I asked for square and my toes are round. All in all it was a poorly done, cheap, unprofessional pedicure. My toenail is now extremely infected. Stay away from this place. First time visited and most likely soon to be regular! This place was recommended by a friend, so we checked it out. We went to get a gel fill, cost us $40, a little over the usual $30 we pay at another nail salon but I have to admit, these nail technicians did a fantastic job and were extremely quick. I worried that the whole quick job would cause some mistake but nope, I had Helen who was very nice and very good at her job, she made sure she missed nothing. I definitely recommend her. My friend had another gentleman, didn't catch his name, but he is the only man there (I think) and he too did an amazing job on my friends nails. The place itself looks very small from the outside but nope! It's very big and cute once you enter. Very clean and professional looking. The front desk girl was very welcoming, super nice. Had a relaxing feel to it. The only reason I take away one star is because my friend and I had asked to sit next to each other and we were separated by 4 tables away. I know they have their own gear at their tables, but then don't tell us we can sit next to each other and then separate us, that's not cool. The whole point of friends getting their nails done together is to relax and talk about what's been going on in our lives recently. I never right reviews and gave myself time to sleep on it but I'm still reeling over the fact that I paid close to $100 on a regular pedicure and dip nails. My pedicure was fine. My dip nails are horrendous, I asked for a French and got some awful look messy ombré at best which is not at all what I wanted. Some nails are lumpy and not smooth at all. The problem with dip is you don't know what the end product will look like till the last polish is put on and at the point I just wanted out of there and did not want to go through the whole process again.
