Renovated old salon into a nail and hair space
    Lyn L.

I don't plan too far in advance for the little things in life, such as nails, hair, massage. When i called my usually nail salon for a same day appt, they had one slot available and it didn't work for me. Lucky, I love Yelping...so I checked around my hood for the closest nail place with raving reviews! The name is deceiving and the address was familiar. This little establishment is behind the 7-11 on Burke Road. They used to be called Danielle's Hair and had large hair salon with one pedi chair. Upon walking in, I was amazed to see that they had actually renovated the place. Nails are the primary and hair is secondary. Off to the side were banks of pedi stations. There are also a couple of rows of mani stations. When you walk in, you can select from an array of regular or gel polish. Christina was my technician and she was SO nice. Their pedi prices range from basic($25) to full spa with add-ons ($55). I splurged. It was so nice to get a clay mask and hot stone with my pedi. Lee worked on my 4th of July designs and she was precise. There was no rushing a pedi here. The prices are comparable to my old location. This place is 3-5 minutes from my home.

Lee's has always been my go-to since I moved to Burke a few years ago. They never disappoint! Every technician is amazing. Yesterday, I went in with a specific picture of how I wanted my nails (half moon gel manicure). I couldn't be happier with how they turned out!

Fabulous. Lee does a great job!

Under new management! I followed Lee to her new location. This tells you a lot since i live in Reston. She is a amazing lady. Does a fabulous job on nails.... Of course they still do hair..... Okay so why am I traveling from Reston to Burke.... I started going to Lee when she was at a nail only salon in Springfield. My bff thought it was time I kick my habit of nailing biting and that acrylic nails with tips is what I needed. I commented I had tried this a couple of times but the acrylic would pop off. She assured me if Lee did them they wouldn't and she was soooooo right. That's over a year ago. I have fabulous nails and the acrylic stats put even with me still putting my fingers in my mouth out of habit. After I had them grown out I started going to places closer to me...., hummmmm the acrylic popped off..... I don't know why what she does work but it's magic and it works..... She doesn't appear to do anything different than other folks..., and yet my acrylic stays on.... Polish lasts..... Let's travel to Lee. About a month ago I found that she had moved to this new location. And she is now the owner.... Or maybe her hubby is but it doesn't matter. It's Lee and for my nails I am happy to go where she is. This location also does hair. While I didn't have mine done I was watching the lady there this morning who was working hair. She first washed and styled a older lady who appeared to be a regular. Loved how she skillfully chatted about the changes in her hair and what she was doing to make it appear fuller. Her next client was a short trim. She appeared very skillful in her razor cutting technique. My apologies for not getting her name. Lee did a remodel of the location. The 2nd lady who got her trim is a regular and commented how nice everything looked . Since I didn't see the place prior to Lee it appeared it was a much needed upgrade in chairs, tables, and supplies. Not sure how many employees.... I saw the front three stylists chairs all had licenses on the mirrors.... Not sure about the other three stations. The nail area is setup for 6 technicians as well with additional seating for pedicures. I'm thrill Lee is at this new location as its a bit easier for me to get to. Highly recommend her for nails!

I've been going to Lee's for over 5 years for special occasions. As my first time was new but painful ending with cuts on my nails due to this lady who did my cuticles with a electric nail drill(buffer?) , after that time then I had different ladies who were absolutely amazing and gentle with my cuticles and nails, none of them using the buffer to shear away at my cuticles. I went again yesterday and noticed right away the same lady from the first time I ever went and ended up getting her and wow it's was the most pain filled nerve racking experience. It's started ok but then the drill started and I was a bit worried but ended up being ok for the first few minutes and then cut. Again and again cut and every time she's said sorry I'll be more careful. It's hurt a lot and I ended up bleeding and she just took cotton and dabbed it away and later at the end she said it's because you have so much cuticle. Then should I have said sorry my bad or something? I just wanted my full set acrylics. I'm pretty disappointed that nothing really changed and I even read a review by Lyeba Q on here and it seems she as well has face a pretty painful experience. I don't usually post reviews but I feel that people should watch out for this one lady. I got cut 4-6 times 4 of them bleeding for sure. I still tipped well because I understand the time and work put in but I'm really disappointed in how painful this experience was.

    Color changing in nails.
    Renata C.

Came here for a gel manicure. After a few days the color of the gel started changing and after a week completely faded. I called and they told me to come in to fix them. When I went in to have it fix, they kept telling me I had put my hands in chemicals (which I never did). Instead of changing the color and fixing my nails completely, they just filed them down and did the same color over again. Within a couple days the color changed again and started chipping in many places. I also got a pedicure and after taking the nail polish off got many spots on all my nails. Won't be returning. Was also quoted one price over the phone and charged more when I checked out.

I rarely ever write reviews on yelp and I was on the hunt for a good nail salons because the ones closest to my house weren't that great. However, this place was just so good! I never really feel that complete without having my nails done so I get them done often; the ladies here took their time and did such an amazing job. I usually get gel but this time I decided to try the dip nail trend and I was not disappointed. I had a bad experience before with the dip nails at another shop but I'm so happy with the way they came out. Their prices are very fair and their customer service was great.

    Cuts from electric nail drill

Super sweet people! I've been coming here for the last 3 years on my birthday. I really wanted to give them 5 stars but each time I've come, I've had the same women do my nails and she is very rough and cuts my skin. I don't mean like a small cut on one finger, I mean big noticeable ones on each finger!! I went in 3 days ago after a year because I found a super nice guy at another salon to do my nails who is super gentle but he couldn't squeeze me in last minute before I left for a party. she did my nails very well but of course cut me and made me bleed on 3 of my fingers.

Went in not knowing what to expect for the first in years. I'm impressed with how my nails came out. Kim, did an amazing job and stayed in my budget. She knew I was a college student and part time worker. Will for sure come back for a fill.

Allure Nail Bar in Burke, VA was the MOST disgusting nail bar I have ever been to. I read good…read morereviews about Allure and thought I would try it out. What a complete disappointment. First off, the nail technicians that worked with me were very nice. So, I am sorry to throw them under the bus here. That was the only positive thing I can reveal about this place. From the moment I set foot in the nail bar, there were 3 nail technicians just sitting around chatting; no one greeted me until I stood at the counter for 10 minutes. The technicians just sitting and staring at me, said nothing, like, "Hello, welcome to Allure." After 15 minutes, I had several technicians try to rush me to pick a color and then disappeared when I was looking at the nail kiosks. Other nail technicians came by to ask me what I wanted then they also disappeared when I showed them a picture of what I had hoped to do with my nails and toes. One of the technicians waved her arms at to small kiosks and a display and said those kiosks (and display) were the only Gel colors available to me for what I wanted. When I picked out several of the colors, they told me they did not have them. Then, again, the technician waved her arms over the kiosks and display. Then, there was the issue of clear communication. Finally, I had to ask if I would be able to speak with someone in English because no one else was able to communicate with me (and I am not being mean here...I support cultural diversity and I love Vietnamese people and I was an ESOL teacher for 20+ years, so it is not a negative dig). Finally, I decided to go with a simple color that was available, but that was just the start of the horror. One huge red flag were the nasty nail polishes. These bottles of polish were like those out of a garbage can. They looked as if they had NEVER been cleaned---EVER; sticky gross caked on polish (all over the bottles) with visible handprints on the plastic bottle brush tops almost made me want to throw up. The polishes in the clear boxes were ALL disgustingly used 1000 times without ever being wiped down or thoroughly cleaned; the polish used on my feet was sticky and caked all over the top of the bottle, and the technician had to keep shaking the bottle to get polish out. It looked like the dregs of the dregs. I was so disgusted and disturbed by the polishes, I should have just walked out right then and there. Next, the filthy pedicure area was a sight. The chair arm rest table looked like someone had just eaten their lunch there and just left the grossness all over the little space. No one bothered to clean up. Maybe those three technicians just sitting around chatting could have done some clean up! Then I was told that the $60 Gel pedicure did not include taking off my two small toe calluses. This could easily be done with a scraper in two seconds, but it would have cost me another $15.00. I was dumbfounded that it was not included in the pedicure like it is at every other nail bar. My feet looked like ass despite the pedicure since calluses remained on the big toes. Unsightly! The technician's product and tool caddie were also filthy. There were crumbs on the surface, crud all over the products, other peoples' skin, dirt, and pieces of nail all visible on the surface. Some of the products had broken pump tops. Most alarming was that there was no visible antiseptic cleaner anywhere where tools are normally kept in jars. Nothing about that area was clean or looked like that it was even a priority. I am praying that I do not get some toe or foot fungus from that place! After the pedicure, I went over to have my nails done (Acrylic Gel). The nail bar was also just as disappointing and disgusting. Nail powder-dust everywhere, the technician's tools to remove the polish (sanding-file heads) were sitting in a gross, blackened, very unclean shot glass along with super glue tubes. The tools were clearly unorganized, uncleaned, and non- anti-bacterialized. The jar of the acrylic powder was so off putting (never ever cleaned or wiped down---crud all over the jars lid and around the threads of the jar were caked with grunge) and all lumpy. This gross acrylic powder display was in tandem with the dubious, cloudy, purple liquid whose jar was equally covered in filth. The technician then pulled out some random fat brush from a dirty drawer of tools and other junk. I was frozen in fear. Lastly, the UV light lamp was so crusty that when I placed my hands in it (like a cubby hole) I could feel the crumbly, lumpy, bumpy crud under my palms from so many who came before me. It is unfathomable that Allure Nail Bar in Burke, VA is not shut down for its terrible management for gross negligence in cleanliness and open display of filth in their products and their pedicure and manicure stations. Please DO NOT waste your health and money in this cesspool.

Well needless to say, we will be on the hunt for a better spot- FOR SURE. Here's what our feedback was to the establishment since they asked, and I decided to share here in case it's helpful to anyone thinking about going here: "The overall experience was disappointing and did not meet the standards expected of a professional wellness or spa environment. The walk between buildings felt awkward and disjointed, and the areas where services were provided were visibly unclean. This immediately detracted from the sense of calm and comfort that clients typically seek when booking spa services. The sauna instructions were overly complicated and nonintuitive. Rather than supporting a seamless, stress-free experience, the setup required unnecessary effort and attention at a time when guests should be able to arrive, decompress, and enjoy the service. One of the facials was particularly concerning. The provider fell out of her chair during the session, left the room for approximately 15 minutes within the allotted service time, and complained openly about missing supplies that had not been ordered. Her presentation and behavior appeared impaired or otherwise not fully attentive, which was alarming in a setting where professionalism, focus, and client safety are expected. There were also sanitation concerns. Gloves were not worn during the sessions- in particular extractions & close facial work, which raised hygiene and safety questions. Given the nature of skincare treatments and direct contact with facial areas, adherence to clear sanitation protocols is critical. Both facials were performed below expected standards. Product application felt careless rather than intentional for both clients. Creams were applied in a manner that resulted in product entering the nostril area for both clients. In one instance, the technician had to awkwardly clean the inside of a nostril during the service, which was unexpected and uncomfortable (and something never experienced prior). In the other facial, cream entered the nostril and remained there throughout the session, creating concern about inhalation; the client ultimately had to clean it out herself after the session. This experience was distracting and far from relaxing. Additionally, massage and sculpting techniques reflected a noticeable lack of refinement and training, particularly for clients accustomed to higher-quality services. Overall, the experience lacked attentiveness, professionalism, cleanliness, and the level of care expected in a premium setting."
