I started off doing my eyebrows and then moved to full body wax with her. She tells me the process so I am not nervous.Keeps me talking to avoid pain lol Upon reading some comments, she could trim after she threads your eyebrows. Sometimes the hairs aren't align and look symmetrical. She does offer aloe at the end. She does put a cleaning oil after the waxes. Prices are great! I can't complain. ESP someone on a budget. Let's start out by saying--Pooja does a FANTASTIC job on your eyebrows. That being said, I found her to be quite pushy when selling products or the dreaded upper lip (I say no every time, because while I can stand my eyebrows being threaded, I CANNOT stand the pain of my upper lip being threaded). She also tried to sell me her Amway products after she diagnosed me with psoriasis. She literally told me my dry skin was psoriasis and that if I were to buy her creams it would make it better! First of all, you're not a medical provider (I am a nurse practitioner so I actually do know the medical signs and symptoms of psoriasis) and second of all, even if it was, your amway creams will not solve the problem. I told her I was not interested in buying, but she just kept pushing. I don't know about you, but all I want is to just get my eyebrows waxed. I don't like people who diagnose when they don't have a license or work in the medical field ESPECIALLY when it's to sell something. That's simply unethical. read more

Pooja's new weekend location is very nice: it's in the Carey (or Cary) building off Old Keene Mill Road. This is great because there's lots of parking, and the office is quiet and private. (Still not Canyon Ranch, but clean, neat and nice smelling, what with the lovely incense she burns.) She's still awesome with the threading: my forehead is smooth and hair-free and my brows have been retamed. Also got waxed - and honestly, you can't beat her skills and the pricing. read more

In terms of the quality of the service, I've always been happy with my eyebrows after leaving. However, there are some areas in which I believe Pooja could improve on. For example, I do wish she uses powder when threading to lessen the irritation, and also follow through with trimming after threading. There have been occasions in which I have walked out with eyebrow hairs on my face. But you get what you paid for and for $5/threading, I can't really complain. Woah. What a gem! Sadly I cannot give more than 5 stars but I am so happy to be writing this review. I stopped getting my eyebrows threaded because they were so uneven whenever I got them done. I was hoping to find a threader who could help. Well damn pooja helped. She's an angel! She really took the time to ask me what I wanted and how we could get there. I had nice eyebrows until I had so many people messing with them. Pooja explained to me what needs to be done so I will be back in three weeks. I also got a brow tint and she told me to just mention it in the additional information portion. Another thing she got my arch to exactly what I wanted! No one had been able achieve that. What the f$&k!! I just left this place and I am so mad I even stepped foot here. I read all of this lady's reviews on Yelp and everyone seemed to rave about her...so I decided to check her out. I schedule my appt online for 2:45, I arrived a few mins early and had to wait a little; no big deal. She finished with her client and then called me over. Pooja seemed pretty nice she asked if I wanted eyebrow clean-up and I told her yes. After about 3 mins she was done. I thought this was odd because when I have gone before to other threading places they usually take at least 10 mins, but I thought since maybe it was just clean-up that this was sufficient time. Well when I looked in the mirror I wanted to cry!!!! I had a linear spot of hair missing from my left eyebrow....eyebrows I've carefully and patiently have grown out! Pooja rushed me out and then proceeded to close the door (it was open when I arrived). At first I thought it was the lighting, so I ran to my car and looked in the mirror, NOPE IT WASNT THE LIGHTING....I had a spot of missing eyebrows!!! I've been trying to get a hold of this lady for weeks now to no avail. I have called countless times during the hours on her website, and I've left a couple messages. After not hearing back from her, about 3 weeks ago I decided to take matters into my own hands and go to the office building on her website during her specified business hours. Even though her website says no walk-ins, I figured maybe she would give me a call back before I got there and I could talk to her about a same day appointment. It's a normal professional office building in Springfield, and I followed the signs to her suite. I knocked on the door, no answer. I waited outside of her suite and called a couple times and tried knocking again, no answer. I left a message letting her know I'd really like an appointment and was in desperate need, she never got back to me. I'm really frustrated and I don't like making appointments online, I'd rather speak over the phone and have my appointment confirmed by a real human. Not sure what's going on but I do know I'm very disappointed by her responsiveness. I guess I'll have to continue my search for the perfect threading place, as the places in Fairfax are no better. read more

So I figured I had better give her a review. :) I was a little nervous on my first trip - I was worried I would ring the doorbell to the wrong house or something. But Pooja made me feel instantly at ease! She did a great job with the threading, and it was the first time I'd ever done my entire face ($20) and I was pleased with it. I'm getting my hair cut soon ($15) and I'll be sure to update my review. Also, she sells skin care products but is not pushy about it and never mentioned anything on my first visit. Find someone that knows Pooja, I learned that she doesn't do walk-ins so make an appointment - preferably online. GOOD LUCK with the phone number, I had no luck with it. Pooja is truly a hidden gem; convenient, swift, affordable, and trustworthy. I've been seeing Pooja for over 2 years now and will never go anywhere else for hair removal. When you visit Pooja, you are not just a customer--you feel like you are walking in to see a trusted friend. She is honest in all aspects (and when dealing with unsightly hair, this is a must). For example, when I asked if it was a good idea to wax my legs, she said no. Some of the hair was too short and couldn't be removed with wax, and being summer time, I would be tempted to shave it in between appointments. Better to wait until winter when waxing would be more effective and easier to grow out in between. She easily could have banked more money out of my appointment, but viewed me as a long-term investment instead. Because she views everyone as a long term client, she offers useful advice to make for a better experience. First time with Pooja? Your eyebrow hairs may be growing in at different speeds, especially if you pluck at home. After a few appointments, you should be caught up. And don't pluck in between! That causes baby hairs to grow, and these can't be threaded as easily. Only a few times has she "missed a spot," and upon inspection with her hand mirror, she gladly cleaned it up after I pointed it out. My best friend and my mom have both become regulars. If that doesn't speak volumes to how great she is, I don't know what does! read more

Yay, my first review of a local business near my hometown (as opposed to my ol' college town of Columbus, Ohio)! :-) Anyway, Pooja is great at what she does, in that she threads throroughly and efficiently. She is the first person by whom I've experienced such a method of hair removal, but after my skin had reacted badly to my last eyebrow waxing, I decided to have my brows (and lip, in a last-minute decision) threaded instead. And I'm pleased with the results--the process was really quick, but it effectively cleaned up stray hairs! As for scheduling: I made an appointment online, but my e-mail confirmation arrived somewhat later than desired, so I called Pooja directly just to make sure she was expecting me. ALSO: I scheduled a weekday appointment, which means she offers the service at her own home. I'll admit that I find this pretty awkward, but once she got down to business, it was hardly much of an issue. And she is *really* quick! With her speed I was pretty IMPRESSed MYSELF (see what I did there? :-P). I came in for my first eyebrow threading today, and I will definitely not be picking up tweezers again! A friend recommended Pooja to me, and I couldn't be happier with my experience. My appointment scheduling online didn't seem to go through, and I was late (it can be quite confusing finding the place the first time!), but Pooja welcomed me right in and I only had to wait a couple of minutes. She is very warm, sincere and professional, and my eyebrows looked so much better in a matter of minutes! Not to mention the price is unbeatable. I ended up getting my upper lip threaded as well, and it is so superior to waxing or plucking! I will definitely be back. I have noticed that some of her customers are very inconsiderate about scheduling. Sometimes when I have been at her house she gets calls from customers who want to stop by that day without an appointment, or they show up late and expect to be attended to right away. People please keep in mind Pooja does not exist just to thread/wax/ect. at your whim. Please do the decent thing and plan ahead. Let her know ahead of time if you need to reschedule.
