I'm sad to say that Aura is no longer my go to salon. I was loyal customer but the last two times I went I didn't have the best experience. The nail polish was sloppy and the service was not memorable. I don't usually leave reviews, but I felt compelled to share my experience. I've attached pictures that speak for themselves about the poor quality of their dip powder nails. It wasn't just a bad job--within a week, I developed a painful infection on my pointer finger. In hindsight, I should have taken the empty salon on a Saturday afternoon as a red flag. A week later, I had to go to another salon to have them fixed. The technicians there were shocked and asked where I had gotten them done, even suggesting that I shouldn't have paid for such poor work. The dip powder was applied way too thick, and my nails had been filed down so much that they were too thin. They recommended giving my nails time to regrow before getting another manicure. The ambience is very soothing and nice. People were immediately attentive to us when we walked in. Greeted us. They took really good care of my mom even though she is very finicky about things, I believe she enjoyed her experience! They were sensitive to us being in a hurry. Since I've uprooted her from our island, Guam, she has been on the tense side. She still hasn't fully transitioned, but I find she is easing into it and these guys really helped her. I highly recommend these folks. They're still new to us, but so far so good! Tammy did mom's pedicures and mom wasn't showing her dislike at all (she wears her heart on her sleeve). Try this place! I won't show you guys a picture of my feet because you all aren't paying me to see photos of my feet. Lol. I had a fantastic experience here, and my standards for getting a pedicure are incredibly high. Once I arrived, I checked, then let's pointed to where I can pick a color. After picking my color, I sat down and was provided a variety of drinks that except during my pedicure . I sat back in the chair had a whole bunch of options. I can use on the massage chair and everything to be in impeccable condition very clean. it has been a while since I've had a pedicure and she was incredibly be patient. She had a little bit more extra steps in my was quiet for my friend and she did it without any pain and I truly appreciate it. After my first visit to Aura - I'm not super impressed. The location itself is nice enough - seems clean and it's more open and spacious than most nail salons. My gel manicure is pretty mediocre - the tips of my nails aren't painted, the gel is uneven, and my cuticles were cut in a few places. The basic pedicure is nothing to write home about. Def get an upgraded one if you go. Maybe I'll come back and try someone else. But first impressions are meh. read more

So, I made a second visit to Aura Nail Salon. This time, a young woman named Helen worked my manicure and pedicure. Helen f-----d up my nails! She used a nail drill on my natural nails, making them weak, dull and prone to breakage. What she thought she was doing, I'm not sure. This was done in early October and my nails just recovered from this sorry ass service. I didn't expect that Helen's use of the nail drill would be so damaging or I would have stopped her from using it. This was pointed out to me by another nail tech at my usual salon (Lucky Nails in Newington Center - a salon that actually cares about the health of their clients' nails.) Helen was recently named in another review here and it's clear she isn't very capable. If this is the level of professionalism Aura Nail Salon offers, do yourself a favor and stay away. read more

It was my first time here and did a walk in! Waited a few moments before they worked on my nails. Honestly was impressed by the attention to detail and neatness of my nail. Sometimes places can miss a spot or have it thick and uneven but I felt that they did a good job trimming it, making sure it was even, didn't feel as though my nails were chunky or anything. Prices are reasonable and they have a great selection of colors & pedicure options. I always do a Spa Pedicure which is totally worth $65 for a 15-minute massage. Both nail technicians are detailed and take their time, which I can appreciate. The salon itself is extremely clean with tasteful decor and calming music. This place has everything you could possibly want in a salon. My only tip (and this goes for any nail salon) make an appointment if you want a technician to take their time. So this was my first time here and they were very nice and welcoming but I wasn't all that please with my spa pedicure. The list of services is very unclear so I thought paraffin came with my spa pedicure because that's what it said under the price but It did not. And I had already had a really cute French set and I just wanted the cuticle clean up ect.... And to fix one of the nails and let's say I'm not that happy. I gave four stars for extremely clean environment and nice employees. I had my yorkie with me they made a little cute cup for my yorkie to drink water and offered me a drink which was a Coca Cola. I had a great pedicure here. I don't remember the gal who did it but she had fun glasses and was very sweet. I will never return however for a manicure here. Helen did a horrendous job on my dip manicure. It so bumpy and thick and not the color I picked at all. She was also very rough. She had a vice grip on my fingers, kept scraping me with her nasty nails and was overall very rude. On top of that, I have wide hips and the chairs were so uncomfortable. read more

This review is just on their pedicure service. I've never gotten a manicure here. This place is clean and larger than most, but I haven't been impressed after the 3-4 times that I have been here. Ugh..I can't stand places that hike up the pedicure prices based off add ons and "more massage time". BUT in reality, they'll just rub lotion/oil in, stroking your legs...there's no pressure or real relief/relaxation. (There may be 1-2 nail techs that actually give proper massages and may offer superb service, but I haven't had one. And those people seem to always be booked.) For walk-in service, it's better to stick to their basic pedicure since it's not worth getting the upgraded options; unless you're into getting your calves stroked for 15 minutes. The nail techs also always paint over my cuticles and certain spots are chunkier or thinner than others. (Every nail place in this area is such a disappointment because of this. There shouldn't just be 1-2 great nail techs; the standard/quality should be the same across at the same shop. So, I don't have a favorite in the area because of these inconsistencies.) This place is decent in a pinch, but I wouldn't recommend them for walk-in service pedicures. read more

After I repeatedly asked her to not continue, she proceeded and three my fingers were bleeding during the visit. I didn't have any issues with others when I went before. read more

I'm not sure why this place doesn't have that many reviews yet - but I can tell you, Aura Day Spa is a nice nail place that I've been to so far and I'm very picky when it comes to nail salons! I didn't have an appointment, but they got me in right away. I had a gel manicure and a spa pedicure done and I enjoyed every minute of it! The location was VERY clean and the staff was very nice. They offer you something to drink while you're getting pampered. They have a huge color selection of nail polish so you can have any color for each season! I got my gel manicure and spa pedicure done by Ashley and I'm definitely going back to her the next time I get something done. She took her time in perfecting my gel manicure and did a great job! Their tools are sanitized and come straight from a sanitized bag, so you know they keep their nail tools clean! Also, the nice thing about getting a manicure is you'll get a shoulder/neck massage along with it which not many places give that. The prices are a bit high, but who am I kidding, the prices are east coast prices! I wish I took photos of the price. But, the next time I go, i'll remember to do it. I have been coming to this nail salon for about a year, and I keep coming back because this is the cleanest, most relaxing, and best quality place around. Every experience and service I have there is very much spa-like, and they maintain the ambiance well. I love their spa pedicures and have gotten the soft healing, hot stone, and footlogix. I've been to this salon twice now and it's the nicest in the area that I've been to. The interior is incredibly clean and bright from natural light. The staff is very friendly and polite, and it's easy to relax while you're there. Julie has done my nails both times i've been in and I love her work. Haven't been here in almost a year because of my last review, but I really needed a pedicure close by and last minute so I decided to give this place a chance. I usually stick to a basic pedicure because it usually gets the job done and none of the upgraded pedicures anywhere have impressed me... but I went for an upgrade this time. The entire experience was basic and quality was not good. I barely got a foot scrub, massage was minimum, nails are trimmed oddly, polish was left on my skin, a few toes have uneven polish. Very disappointed with my visit today as I was highly recommended to come here from a colleague. I had an 11:30 AM appointment with Vy and I got to Aura at 11:25 AM. I come to the desk I sign in my appointment is on the screen I'm excited I'm already to go. Me and another young lady are at the front and Vee in a very loud voice start saying you don't have an appointment with me I don't know who you have an appointment with is not with me. I was appalled ! I said I signed in and my appt says 1130am. I called yesterday to make the appt. And Vy proceeds to yell at me saying she's with someone I don't have an appt. At this point I'm on the verge of tears cause I've had a long week and have been looking forward to this . Everyone in the Salon is looking at me and I'm mortified. Vy then says oh you have an appt at 4pm lol . I said no I don't. She says yes you do I'll find someone to do your nails. I said my appt is for a pedicure not nails with you at 11:30. I would have left but my day is so jam packed I just stayed. Vy leaves , then the other lady tells me to pick a color. I'm at the colors shaking cause I work with clients daily and I would never treat anyone like this. 5 to 7 minutes later Mai/ My comes up to me and says hi etc I'll be doing your nails. She is very kind. I can tell that she is being extra nice but that's fine . Trying to remedy the situation I suppose. My showed me the pedicure list and I choose the $65 one and I point to it I think it's called aura day signature pedicure. Vy is in ear shot of Me and tells My To tell me how much it is .. as if I don't know as I point the the pedicure / pricing on the list. The pedicure is average and My is very nice and checks in with me constantly. I appreciate her for that . Coming to the end of the pedicure My says to me I hope you'll be back please make an appointment next time... I just Laugh and say I had one this time.. she says thank you. I go to check out I tip My Generously and I get to the front and they say my total is $85 . Ok great . It's my first time here so I use the 20% off coupon bringing it down to $68. I hand her a $100 bill as you get an additional 5a% off when you pay cash. I asked about that and the two ladies start speaking Vietnamese and seemed annoyed so I just leave . I've alreqdy had a horrible enough experience Where I'm not going to argue Over 5%. Will I be back of course not. The spa is nice, it has a parking lot which is a plus and they do offer deluxe pedicure services . Before I left Vy Yelped out an apology cause was with another client. After 90 minutes of being there it really meant nothing at that moment. I wasn't even upset about not getting my appointment with Vy I was just mortified by the treatment . read more
