I love it here. I live in Springfield and I haven't gone anywhere else to get my nails done. Why I like it. It feels clean. The seats are good massage chairs. You get a choice of tea/water/soda or juice while you get your service. I usually get my pedicure, and I love that the workers wear gloves and all of my tools they use are either one time or they open from their sterilize pack. It's not like some places where it's just socked in some glass jar or their use the same callus remover rock thing. I feel like I'm getting my own clean tools and my own one time use products. I've been coming to Serenity off and on for about three years now. What keeps me coming back is that it's a very beautiful and relaxing spa with very many (maybe too many) color choices and great spa options. I "cheat" often though because of poor technique :-( I have only been to one nail tech there who can truly paint nails, and that's Linsey. The other issue is with the way they remove gel polish. You're supposed to file the top, so that the acetone can permeate the polish and lift it for easy removal; not the "Serenity" way of filing to the nail then soaking off. Yikes! Yesterday, I had a polish change with Lily. Please look at the pics of my nails--terrible. Very sloppy and uneven. For $25, they should be nail mag worthy. If you get acrylic on your toes, do not go here. I got a nude acrylic on my toes today and both the shape and paint were uneven despite the nail tech using nail forms. The cost was $67 for my feet alone and there was a fee for using card. Not including the tip. read more

This review is for my mother. My poor poor mother. We went in yesterday at 6:15 or so and needed a pedicure, I finally had gotten my sister to babysit my 2 year old while my mom treated me to a pedi for my birthday! I was so excited and my sister had recommended this place so I figured they would be good.... Wrong..... The nail tech I had was OKAY, but she was at least friendly. Barely a massage, barely any effort at all really. For 35 bucks, you figure they would at least clean your toes properly. My mom on the other hand had the worst nail tech I've ever seen. She did the bare minimum, she didn't clean under the nails, didn't use the pumus stone very long. She didn't cut her nails down far enough even though we asked her nicely to cut them short. Her response was something along the lines of, oh no, too short. (Not at all btw... They were wayyyyy too long) she seemed rushed and annoyed at my mom the whole time. I'm pretty frustrated with the quality of service I have received from this nail salon. I have been going here for about three years and have put up with their steep prices because the service is pleasant and they are large enough to accommodate me most of the time I call or stop by. However, things have been getting worse and today was my last straw. I called ahead to get an appointment for a pedicure. When I showed up for my appointment, I was greeted by a pleasant girl and escorted back to a chair with water ready. After I sat down, nobody talked to me. Usually they offer to bring you water and fruit, but not today. I sat there with my feet soaking for thirty minutes. The water started to get cold and still nobody greeted me, told me it would be a few minutes, or even acknowledged I was sitting there. This was my second visit and I left extremely disappointed. Several things went wrong, I'll start with the amount of time I spent there. Our appointment was 11:30 and we got sat immediately for pedicures, pedicure went from 11:35-12:05, 30 minutes, then my daughter and I parted ways. I got an acrylic fill and get polish, she got a manicure and finished at 12:30... my fill started around 12:10 and I didn't get to leave until 1:50, nearly an hour and 45 minutes for a fill. Pedicure- wasn't bad although we didn't get the scrub like we did last time and my legs were barely massaged (that is my favorite part of the pedicure). Fill- took forever and I kept telling him my nails were crooked and he would "fix" it but never actually fixed it. Then he opened the gel and said it was empty so he asked if I wanted another color. I wanted my toes and nails to match, so no, i didn't want another color. The young lady at the front desk was super helpful picking out a different color and the gentleman that did my nails tried his best to help, I do understand that that isn't his fault. It would've been nice to know ahead of time though. Then when we did pick a color he was about to polish my nails without a base coat first. I've gotten my nails done enough times to know it goes- Base coat 2 coats of gel Top coat So... basically sat for an extremely long time to leave disappointed. One thing that I care greatly about is customer service, so the reason they get 3 stars is because the young lady at the front desk was the sweetest thing ever and the gentleman that did my nails was very nice, just didn't do what I wanted on my nails. I got my nails done at this salon for the first time on Friday October 15, paid $141 for gel manicure and pedicure, thinking it will last me at least 2-3 weeks. It happens to be the closest salon to my home. Two days later, I realized the gel was coming off from both hands and toes. I contacted the salon and explained to the manager the problem. She tells me come on Tuesday October 19 at 7pm. Once I got there, the nail technician that sees me states: "I don't see anything wrong with them. I would have done them exactly the same." I show her the peeling off nails, she takes pictures of the side that is not peeling, won't even allow me to show her the problem, calls her manager on the phone (remind you, the same manager that gave me the repair appt), comes back and says: "I'll fix only one nail but you gotta come back tomorrow ". I left work to do this, paid $141 including $20 tip, and this is the customer service they provide. I would certainly not advise anyone to go. Two years ago they did the same to my daughter: she had acrylic and 2 fell off the next day. But, at that time, the manager then actually repaired her nails few days later. Overpriced salon, with one of the worst customer service experiences I ever had. It's wrong to pump up the price and provide mediocre service. Save your money. read more

I got a Classic Mani/Pedi with gel nails. She did a nice job on the pedi and mani but the nails peeled in less than a week. I called and told them about it and they said said they would fix it for free. When I got there they didn't apologize or seem to really want to help. I wasn't able to locate the color I used and they made it out to be my fault. After a lot of back and forth I finally just picked a new color and they agreed to redo the nails for me. However the tech that did my nails took forever and when they finally set, the job was so sloppy and a complete waste of my time. The polish was put on so thick and also went underneath my nails and was on the cuticles. When I showed them how poorly it was painted they said it was because I have short nails. I am frustrated that I spent money here and on top of that they wasted my time. I re-did my own nails at home and it looked 10 times better than what they did and no peeling at all. read more

Do yourself a favor and avoid this place at all costs. I don't even know where to start. I called this place two days ago asking about the price of a pedicure and the employee told me it was $25. When I went in to get it done yesterday, they told me upon paying that it was $35. I told them that I'd called and was told a different price over the phone and both the woman that did my nails and the manager raised their voices at me essentially called me a liar and said to pay up. The pedicure itself? AWFUL. Water was cold. The woman was almost picking at my toes and it was extremely painful, and she didn't let up even after I asked her to be more gentle because she was hurting me. This is aside from the fact that she seemed to have no idea what she was doing. The result? My toenails are now shaped awkwardly, the paint job is messy, and the bottoms of my feet are rough (my feet have never been rough, but she scrubbed them so poorly that the surface feels gross now). The entire staff is rude, lazy, and their work is below average at best. They'll talk about and laugh at you with their friends in Vietnamese while doing your nails and they won't even bother to hide it. They don't really care enough to work with you to get the result you want... and to be honest, when you walk in and ask to get a service, they look bothered that you've disturbed their day. The customer service at this place is just horrible and so is the work they do. They are also ridiculously overpriced. Don't be fooled by the nice interior of the place. One last thing- this wasn't just one bad experience at a nail salon. I live near this place and go when I don't feel like driving far to get my nails done, and every time I go I remember why I said I wouldn't step foot in there anymore. This experience was just so bad that I felt compelled to leave an honest review on Yelp (I've never left a review for any place before). This is just a horrible place all around and I'd give -3 stars if I would. Take your money elsewhere. I thought I've previously written a review... love the customer service provided here from the girl at the desk that greets you (Sandy) and the technicians! Sandy knows every customer by name; I love that! You receive a complimentary drink and a snack with your service! I am rather picky and I'm pretty sure the girls know it but that's ok!!! Linsey is my go to... she's great!!!! Helen is my back up... she's great too and Michelle is pretty darn good, my best friend prefers her over everyone else. I was recommended to Serenity after I was cut one too many times at a Burke salon and haven't looked back. I've been getting a fill and gel manicure from Lindsay for several years now. She's always so polite and her station is clean. The work she does on my nails (and my brows!) is top notch (if I can't get her for some reason, Mimi and Lilly are excellent as well). The salon is also super clean. I've always observed the techs using clean or new equipment and the pedicure tubs have disposable liners. I have been going here for the past 5 years. I even bring my 9 year old daughter on the regular. Time to find a new spa. They stopped the quality service of giving clients fruit and cookies which my daughter loved! They stopped the private room. And now they stopped the good quality! When you pay the prices they charge here, you expect top service. The past several times I have been less then pleased and I have no patience for bad service. First time, my nail polish was messed up and instead of redoing the toe, the tech simply painted over the mess and left it. Second time, I made an appointment for first thing in the morning and was rushed through my appointment once business picked up. This last time, same scenario. I was rushed so much she put the paraffin on before the polish was dry and I realized that the polish was off my nails once I got home. I'm done paying these ridiculous prices just for a 5 minute shoulder massage. Went to get a mani/pedi and wax my legs. It was a bit over priced for the suburbs of Northern VA. The waxing was not up to my standards. I started going here a few months ago and I honestly can't imagine going anywhere else. Quynh is amazing and I highly recommend her to anyone. My hands and feet always look flawless and I'm constantly getting compliments on them. She also does my eyebrows and let me tell ya, they have never looked better. The prices are higher than most places around here, but their service always reflects their pricing (and tends to go above that). Everything is disposable and one time use. I'm giving this a 1 star rating because I feel like the staff in general could be friendlier and because it's difficult to communicate with some of the technicians and because I was charged for an SNS manicure (even they used gel polish throughout most of the manicure because they didn't layer the powder correctly) then they tried to blame me for picking a polish and not telling them the right way to apply it. In addition I was scalded by hot water at the beginning of my pedicure. I asked for the water to be warmer not scalding hot (which is frustrating in itself to always have to request because then they have to essentially waste time draining the tub, due to the shower cap liner which also always gets stuck) they should have waited to fill the water after asking the customer how hot they want the water. Nevertheless the lady told me to put my foot in the water and I did but the way she guided me to the water was right in the hot water line, so it was partly my fault but honestly I think the tech who could barley communicate was partly to blame. That's never happened to me in all my 30 years of getting my nails done, and it ruined the experience. Luckily the burn wasn't that bad, but for a place that calls themselves a spa they need to step up their game because I have started to go elsewhere. I used to love this place but it's going down hill. If I'm paying g $100 per visit my nails better be perfect and me feet better feel relaxed and there shouldn't be any weird nasty vibes. There are too many nail salons in the area all providing spa experiences now to leave unhappy. read more

I visited this nail salon for the first time today. It's okay but I wouldn't pick it as a first choice. I live near the location so I wanted to give it a try. The people were okay, not the friendliest. There apparently wasn't much of the color I chose left inside the bottle. Rather than getting a fresh bottle, the technician added what was probably thinner to the bottle. This is one of my biggest pet peeves. For the price you pay for a service, the polish should be a fresh bottle when it's getting low. Would I visit this location again? Most likely not. read more

I asked to get a ful set and everything was going good until I saw that one of the nails was crooked when I pointed it out she just answered with "im not done yet haha" I left it alone because I thought "okay she's the professional" After she finished she switches me to another lady so that she could get started on my friends nails (my friend was getting gel) The other lady looked like she did not want to be there. She was rushing and didn't do a good job painting my nails. After they finished, they charged me for gel even tho I didn't get gel. My friend had to pay me back When I got home and inspected my nails I saw that glue was all over my cuticles the nail lengths or uneven and theres stuff in my nails that are stuck becuase she painted over them. Want to update my review, since i see that its got filtered but i really want to share my experience. I saw Tiffany today for just quick shellac color change. As last time, she was great. Very detailed. Did not rush, which is very important to me. She took her time, and changing the color took close to one hour. She recommended my to do the refill too, but u did nit have time. She was worried that the nail polish would not go as smooth as it should because i needed to refill my nails. It is so nice when technician is more worry about your nails and result then me :-) thank you, Tiffany, again. I will see you next week. read more

I'm a licensed Nail tech, it's not a bragging right, however I am very precise with my work. Work and life outside of work has kept me preocupied to the extent my natural nail had cracked (I haven't redone my nails in almost 3 weeks). I was visiting my best friend from out of town. After carefully reading their reviews, I thought I'd give this place a try. The receptionist was nice, clean place, good selection of colors and brands. The iced water and fresh fruits was a nice compliment. The gentleman who did my gel polish change did not thoroughly soak my nails off, I can still see some of my old colors in some areas on my nails. One of the thing that pissed me off was that they still used UV lights and I had asked why don't they use LED since it's safer and his response were "that's a lie", he shrugged it off and I could feel my skin heating up from those UV Rays. He over buffed my fingers, and when I say fingers.. as in buffing over my cuticles & matrix skin/area which was a little painful. He did not cover my natural nail bed well with the base coat. When I tried to look at the area closely, he told me to put my hand back in there like he doesn't want me to notice his sloppy work. At this point I'm getting irritated, first coat of color, there were large amount of gap areas that were not covered, he saw that I inspected the nails. Then to sugarcoat his sloppy work, he starts talking about Miss Universe because he noticed Im from the Philippines, at this point, I'm thinking to myself "why don't he pay more attention to doing my nails than what's going on at the shop and small talk". Second coat, he tried to cover the gaps but ended up painting on the side of my skin and most of my cuticles. The gel top coat was almost empty and I could see and feel the streak. I know it's hard to satisfy a nail tech, but this review is for those who doesn't know the standards of what they should expect and receive. Even my 8 year old told me they didn't file her nails well because the corners were sharp. What a waste of money, time, and benefit of doubt. read more
