The towels and other linens were good quality and the all the facilities we experienced were clean. The bed - with the foot wash basin and the hair washing basin - is super neat! I kept thinking, "Why wasn't this designed ages ago? So clever!" We really enjoyed the foot soak-hair wash. Very relaxing. Giving this place 4 stars because it was my first time getting a scalp massage and I have nothing else to compare it to at this time. Pros: Loved the ambience, the place was clean, staff were friendly. My husband and I needed a little self-care day. We signed up for the couples scalp massage which came with mini foot/neck/shoulder massage. We booked online and the process was easy and seamless. Checking in was a breeze and the price was great for everything we received! The scalp massage itself, was not as relaxing as we'd hope but we enjoyed the foot and shoulder massage. 10/10 would do this again! Con: Parking and the scalp massage analysis. The staff gently tossed our hair around to show the before wash and after wash. Wish they spent a little more time talking about tips and tricks on hair care or why certain things looked the way they did. My sister and I tried a head spa for the first time and were really excited, especially to see the scalp analysis with the camera. We were warmly welcomed, and they brought us to a shared room (not private) for the scalp scan. The actual analysis was SUPER quick, maybe 10 seconds, and they simply told me my scalp was clean. The staff didn't speak English, so even when I tried asking follow-up questions about my scalp condition, I wasn't able to get any clear answers. We booked a 90-minute couple's room, and the service started with a foot massage followed b a surprisingly long shoulder and neck massage. I did't time it, but it was long enough that I started wondering if I had accidentally booked a different treatment--in the best way! It was genuinely relaxing and definitely one of the highlights. The scalp massage and deep cleansing potion was soothing and felt amazing. One thing to be aware of is that the treatment completely relaxed the curl from my perm I've gotten 4 months ago and made my hair noticeably straighter. My sister loved it because it looked like she got a straight perm, but I was honestly shocked when my curls "disappeared." This spot is so relaxing! I've been twice and had a great experience both times. My first visit was an upgraded service that included the facial. It's a light touch on a little of everything- foot massage, arm, neck, shoulder, upper back, which I personally prefer. The hair wash has changed the way I wash my hair- it's never been cleaner. Second visit was a couples treatment which was really wonderful! My husband, who prefers a bit of a heavier hand wished they had gone a little deeper with the upper back massage, but for me who doesn't love a full massage, it was perfect. The only thing is the location- there's a busy traffic corner so you can hear cars, honking, revving, etc at times which can be a little distracting. read more

*3.5 stars! Serenity Head Spa is a great place and I don't have anything bad to say, but I will share my thoughts and why I gave them 3.5 stars. I don't usually give under 4 stars, but when I booked the appointment online, I knew I wanted to be as honest in this review as there aren't many yelp reviews and the ones that are there are either 5 stars or really really low stars. The online website is super user-friendly and very clear on what your appointment entails & the price and if you want to add any additional comments, you're welcome to do so. The website was super easy to book through. I also booked about 2 to 3 days in advance for a Sunday afternoon appointment and I had no problems whatsoever! When I arrived to the building, it definitely didn't stand out at first, but if you follow the directions from any kind of maps app, you will be able to easily find it. Parking was plenty. But unfortunately, there was a parking garage nearby, where the fire alarm was going off and continued to go off throughout my entire appointment in which I could hear it ringing (not a fault of the spa but definitely stood out throughout the appointment & I didn't lower the score due to that). Once I got inside, there was a very friendly receptionist and I was immediately shown inside. I did not have to wait at all. I arrived about five minutes before my appointment. From there, they immediately have you do a scalp analysis where she basically just takes a scalp camera and shows you what your scalp looks like and then talks to you about the different levels if it looks healthy versus not and any visible build up! From there, I was shown to the back and into my room. The spa itself and the rooms are very well maintained! They look beautiful, very serene and peaceful and very clean! In terms of the actual service itself, I booked the 70 min Serenity Head Spa which is the scalp treatment, foot soak & massage which is their lowest tier for $119. I really wish that they had kept this more basic and not added in any kind of foot soak massage situation because you could definitely tell that they are no masseuse and I think it was a little just too much extra items versus just focusing on my scalp, my neck and my shoulders. The scalp treatment was wonderful and I really loved it! I've never done this treatment before so I don't really have much to base it off, but nothing hurt or burned. It was all very comfortable! The lady who was giving me the treatment was also very kind and I enjoyed the scalp part and she does give you a great neck and shoulder massage/rub as well which I thought was much better than the attempt at a foot soak/rub. Once the scalp treatment is over, they then take you to get your hair blow dried. Again, similar to my message about that they are not a masseuse. They are also not a hairstylist so I did walk out of there with my hair half wet so when I got home, I did finish blow drying the rest of my hair and of course styling it. They then finish off as the very last step going back to the scalp camera and show you the difference from before and after which is a really cool and fun thing! It's now been a few days since my appointment and I can say my scalp feels amazing. I usually get really itchy and a lot of buildup shortly after my hair washes, but I've been able to go four days without having to wash my hair and it's still feels super good so I am very happy with the scalp treatment. I believe that this business has a lot of great potential and that they could really thrive, but I think people need to have realistic expectations that they are not a masseuse and that they are not hairstylists and that they are very much just there for the scalp treatment. I also think the business has a lot to learn. They could definitely get more creative with the scalp treatments versus trying to add in massages, facials, soaks, etc. So, with all that said, I do believe 3.5 stars was the perfect rating for them since I don't think that this was a fabulous over the moon, amazing spa experience, but there was also nothing necessarily anything bad about it either! I think that they just have a lot of room to excel and I really hope to see them thrive as they continue to grow! I was given a gift card to this place for my birthday for a 90min Upgraded Serenity Head Spa session. The building on the outside is pretty unassuming but it's quite nice inside and was very clean. When you first go in, they show you your scalp under a microscopic camera and you're able to see the condition of your scalp before the treatment. They do this again after your treatment as well. This part felt slightly rushed to me. I wish they took a bit longer. As for the actual treatment, I was so so impressed. I loved that they start with a foot soak, and end with a hair wash but all in the same seat! The seat is so modular and cool--it's hard to describe. They took a very long time to wash my hair and i almost fell asleep because it was so relaxing. I loved it so much I bought my best friend a gift card for here for her birthday as well. read more

My boyfriend and I came here for our 1 year anniversary and really enjoyed it! We went to their Springfield location and got the 70min couples head spa. As you walk in there are various teas and snacks then they take you to get a close up of your scalp! They have you change into robes and the couples room was so nice and relaxing. In addition to a scalp scrub, you also get a mini foot/arm/shoulders massage so I felt it was pretty worth it. Could also be a good gift for your parents for any occasion/holiday! The only con was that there was one instrumental song playing on repeat the entire time so it definitely got stuck in my head haha read more

They start off by showing you an up close view of your scalp and hair strands. I chose the 90 minute treatment, but it went by so quickly! It is very relaxing and such a treat! This was amazing!! I do not usually do things like this for myself. I was a bit hesitant because some of the reviews weren't great and one even suggested that the "good" reviews were fake. But I decided to take a chance and I am sure glad I did. From the moment we walked in the door, the ladies were kind and professional. You could tell that they take pride in their work and wanted to make sure we were enjoying it every step along the way. Everything was really clean. The ambiance in the rooms were relaxing with soft music and coloring changing starry sky lights. The tables had soft blankets on them as well. I got the 70 minute head spa package. It started with a heated face mask, foot soak and wash, followed by a foot and leg massage. There was lotion and hot towels too. The head, neck, shoulder, and arm massage was really relaxing. The lady was gentle but firm. The hair washing and scalp massage felt great. She used this amazing shampoo that made your head feel hot and cool sensations. It ended with a blow dry and scalp analysis. Overall I would recommend this spa. An added bonus is the $20 discount if you pay with cash! read more

Actually better than I have had elsewhere in the DMV. Clean space, with plenty of parking. A bit Difficult to find on GPS, but use the address numbers to find the right building. We first had Head scalp analysis. in all honesty it was like watching Jeff Goldblum in the fly come alive. But interesting to boot. The individual stations are great and the place is quiet. Start with a foot massage, arm and shoulder as they worked their way to Completely relaxing you. Amazing massage techniques that took out all the kinks In my neck and shoulders. I would return weekly if I could!! Felt relaxed, safe & Clean. The blow dryer is nothing special other than drying your hair. Don't look for a style. If you have cash there is a discount. My 3 girlfriends and I were extremely irritated, annoyed, frustrated, upset, stressed, you name it with the entire experience. The whole time the main thought that kept popping up in my head was how much damage all scrubbing was going to cause my hair. The sound of my hair crunching over and over was cringing. My poor hair cuticles!! It was awful. There was so much hair scrubbing and no care put in my hair it felt like they were trying to remove a wine stain out of burlap. Like my head was in a heavy load of clothes in a washing machine against a wash board. They don't give a F about your hair. My hair had so many knots and tangles half way thru the process I thought I was going to look like Edward Scissorhands, or someone that just dug my way out of a tunnel from China when I walk out. They take a metal brush to brush out the bird nest. I never treat my hair like that. Your hair is more prone to damage and breakage when wet. I know there was a lot of hair breakage today. I think the shampoo and other products they use are poor quality too. You can feel it in the lather. They were also not sanitary. The microscope used on my head and my girlfriend's head was not sanitized in between uses. I think the water that was used to clean your face is recycled water from your hair. Idk but I don't trust it. The name serenity is the complete opposite of what we experienced. I can't believe all 4 of us had the same experience. I felt like I needed to smoke marijuana afterwards and I don't even smoke! My other friend needed a cigarette and other one needed a drink. We all take good care of our hair and it was very stressful how poorly they treated our hair. They was no care in the hair treatment at all. I do a way better job washing my hair and take way better care of it than this head spa does. $200 for the hair damage and stress was upsetting. Did not feel professional at all. I'm so glad it over and will never go back. I felt restless and couldn't wait for the treatment to end. I wanted to walk out a few times. Going to smoke now. read more

I went here for the 90 min upgraded head spa. I was highly disappointed because it was more like torture than relaxing (no where near any feelings of "serenity"). They started off the treatment with a foot soak. No jets just my feet soaking in warm water that was filled in with bucket water. No running water in the room. The person gave me a very lacking foot massage with zero pressure and no technique. There is no way their people have licenses. She then began to work on my face after washing my feet (not even qualified as a good foot wash to be honest). You would think they would start with the hair, then face, lastly the feet. Since there is no running water she again filled the tub with bucket water to wash my face. She was reusing the water over and over again to wash the product off after putting new product. I have very sensitive skin so I know I will get a break out tomorrow morning. When she was working on my face she also put her fingers in my ear and put pressure as if to shut my ears. That is a first. I get massages all the time and have never experienced this from any licensed massage therapist. Then she moved to my head after that weird face massage. With no product she vigorously scratched my scalp leaving me feeling like if I stood up I would have a birds nest of tangles as high as Marge Simpsons hair. I couldn't hide my discomfort as I was most likely visibly frowning. Then she proceeded to wash my hair in such a weird way. Sectioning my hair and scrubbing the shampoo in as if she was washing a pot that was unattended and had burnt food stuck on it. Then with all the matted hair from her technique she begin to brush my hair wet very harshly. I felt my hair ripping and heard it breaking off. For a little over $200 do yourself a favor and go somewhere that the reviews hold true. They must have gotten friends and family to write their reviews because I cannot believe I went to the same place as these reviews. It was a waste of time and I just left there frustrated and upset. I will never go back here even if it were free. They need new management and better training because THIS IS NOT IT! I could've done better giving myself home hair treatment with higher quality products. read more
