I LOVE MOVING says no one ever! I will say when you hire the right moving company it does make things a little more tolerable. My real estate agent recommended serenity movers to me saying they were great and familiar with doing moves into the building of our new address. I spoke to Maxwell who answers the phones and coordinates the moving date time and coi. He was professional and very helpful. I sent him a quick video of my apt so I could get a quote and have boxes dropped off to my apt as we chose the "pack your own stuff" option. They do still dismantle your actual furniture and wrap it nicely as to not do any damage while moving. Pack your own stuff is the clothes shoes dishes kind of stuff. The moving team showed up on time and finished two hours early of our estimated moving time. I almost didn't even feel the burden of moving bc they were so efficient in how they packed moved and unloaded. They were super clean, organized and wore masks for the covid regulations. Not one piece had a scratch or dent. Let me also add that I had mattress and a table/chair delivery from two additional companies and everything worked out well beyond my expectations. The worse experience ever. I have used Serenity Movers and they were fine. I used them again in July and they sucked in every way possible. They almost broke the glass top of my dining table. Thank god I was nearby and caught it. They put tape around my furniture that left marks. They scratched my very beautiful dining room table. They broke a dresser and also broke a smaller dresser. The damage they caused is irreparable. This Has been a heartbreaking experience. You pay for the service and expect them to be careful but they were terrible. DO NOT USE THEM! Just awful! read more

This is going to be a boring review of this new, green NYC moving company. Almost as boring as waiting for the hours-late truck to show up, sitting alone on a bare mattress with any shred of possible entertainment packed away in a pile of crates. Overall, Serenity was fine. Their quote was slightly lower than the other companies I called, but not enough to get terribly excited. My main motivation for using them was their crate-renting service. For a reasonable fee, they deliver you heavy-duty plastic packing crates the week before you move and pick them up when you're done unpacking. However, these particular crates were much smaller than others I've seen of that type, and I filled a lot more of them than I expected. "Fortunately," Serenity didn't show up the day the boxes were to be dropped off; the next day they gave me five extra ones free, and I wound up with the right amount of boxes. I had trouble getting through to them on the phone that one day, but other than that the customer service was commendable. As I mentioned earlier, they were late on moving day, when I just wanted to get the heck out of my old apartment and neighborhood. Irritation ensued. When they did arrive, I was happy to learn that biodiesel vehicles really do smell like french fries! (Did I mention I was starving, as well as bored and lonely?) The movers were pleasant, and began hauling the crap out of my apartment at breakneck speed. That is, until getting in a nasty, name-calling, cussing fight with my old superintendent, but in defense of Serenity, I'm pretty sure the super picked it. (I was facebook-status-updating the entire episode, and this and my frustration with their lateness prompted many SERENITY NOW! jokes from friends...) They told him to bugger off, finished up, and I got in a cab bound for my new awesome apartment. Traffic was terrible and it was getting late, but the trio of moving dudes was still very polite and cheery enough when we all arrived. Only one inconsequential item was broken, and care was taken with my stuff. Would I hire Serenity again? I suppose; I paid slightly less and got to feel good about making a green move. But gawd, I hope I never move again. read more

I started out my journey with Serenity really enthusiastically, as they were highly recommended by people other yelpers. I was impressed by the courtesy and professionalism of the receptionist. I called on Friday asking for a Monday appointnment, and she accommodated me. But things went downhill form there. My mother called me on Monday morning, frantic because one of the movers, the foreman I think, was bitterly complaining about the conditions. He was upset because there was dust and he felt he was not adequately prepared to be in the environment. He proceeded to disparage his boss, saying that the owners didn't care about him or his health. He immediately told my mother that the move would require more than three hours and movers, and that he was not going to be able to complete it. He continued to complain and have an attitude for the rest of the move. At one point he was in his truck while the other two movers were unloading, and when my mother approached him, he responded that he would not charge her for the full hour. I am not disappointed that the man took issue with the conditions, but rather his handling of the situation. Had I known there would be that amount of dust and mold, I would have notified the dispatcher. Instead of incessantly complaining and giving my mother an attitude, he could have explained that the conditions necessitated special protective equipment and more men, and therefore they would have to reschedule. He could have handled it professionally, not like an insolent 5 year old. My mother offered him a mask and gloves, yet he continued to whine. I even called the dispatcher and apologized for not having properly prepared him, and he said that his men were prepared for "anything." Clearly, they were not. I emailed the receptionist, and she responded by politely brushing me off and never fully addressed my concerns. While the physical move went fine, the added stress of the complaining employee left my mother harried and stressed out. The did not complete the move, and we hired another company to come back later in the week. i will never use them again. read more

We give Serenity movers our 5 stars. I have used several moving companies over the past 5 years and never have I given any of them higher than a 2. My experience has been is that most moving companies never do what they promise and always complain when they arrive and change pricing on you as soon as they arrive. Not with Serenity movers! They did what they promised as promised. I called Serenity Movers first to simply have them move my boyfriends furniture from the 1st floor to the 3rd floor. They did this perfectly and the service was great. From the first call with Max, I knew that I picked the right crew. My boyfriend was also very happy with the movers that handled everything. 2 weeks later we decided to check out a high-end furniture auction in Maryland, with no real intent to buy more than a few pieces. After about 8 hours, my boyfriend had purchased 2 truckloads of beautiful furniture that somehow needed to get shipped and unloaded all the way back to Long Island, NY. I frantically emailed Max late on Saturday night and he called me back within 10 minutes of my email (I dont know about you but i have never had someone from a moving company return my calls after hours). Max said he would work hard to try and get us a crew for Monday. Given this was such short notice and was going to take at least a 4 man crew for 8 hours, I wasn't sure if Max was going to be able to pull through, but he did. He set up a 4 man crew to arrive on Monday afternoon. They did so as promised. They were very professional and courteous. They worked very hard to get the job done by a certain hour, since our building wanted the truck unloaded by a certain time. Our furniture was brand new, so we were a bit nervous about movers damaging the furniture. With Serenity Movers, we didn't have to worry about that; they did a great job protecting it so that it was not damaged in any way. I should admit upfront that I did not end up choosing Serenity for my move (I will explain below). However, the experience with them was so positive & helpful that I wanted to share it. Serenity was one of the few movers I contacted that requested an in-home estimate. If you're moving soon & annoyed by this, don't be! It shows the company understands each move is different, and wants to avoid surprises for both you & themselves on moving day. This initial time investment will pay off, it sure did for me. Their rep was able to identify critical issues with getting some of my furniture out my narrow door that previous moving companies assessors did not. He correctly noticed that my wardrobes must be disassembled and reassembled, which is a ton of work for the moving crew, and gave an accurate quote. When I alerted the previous company about this potential complication & extra work, they decided to honor their original quote (assuming all furniture can be moved as-is) even if the complications happens. That was obviously significantly cheaper, so I went with that. On moving day, lo & behold, the Serenity Mover rep was 100% right! Our movers ended up having to disassemble two huge wardrobes, and other bookshelves to make it fit out the door. Basically, by having my consult with Serenity I was able to get a more accurate assessment of my moving needs. I credit them for saving me a ton of headache (& money) on moving day because I was able to get ahead of these issues that another company had failed to identify. I believe the quote given to me by Serenity was totally fair and I would've chosen them hands-down if the other company had not honored their price for a much smaller/less complicated move. First off, Maxwell might have the calmest voice ever. He might have missed his calling as a disc jockey. Anyway, I had a big move planned from Queens to LI. There was an additional stop before reaching our destination in LI. It was a four-man crew. Only one of the movers was a tad unprofessional, but the guy in charge, Chanel (sp?), called him out on it twice. They arrived on time. Chanel checked in with me about what was needed and they quickly got to work. They quickly emptied the first house of all the furniture. Everything was wrapped and secured. It was a long drive to LI, but they got there quicker than I expected. They were very patient with my wife and I when it came to adding felt bottoms to each of the furniture they brought in to the new house (we just had the floors redone). There were two separate blemishes as a result of this move. It's nothing catastrophic (nothing was broken), but these are noticeable and it's worth mentioning. In their defense, the two pieces of furniture were extremely heavy. The total time and cost came under the quoted price/time. I would highly recommend Serenity Movers to any of my friends or family. read more

I recently had Serenity movers move me from a 4th floor walk-up in the East Village to an elevator building in the LES. Not only were they punctual--they were a few minutes early. I was still in the midst of packing a few of my belongings but not only did they give me more boxes but they carefully took my belongings, quickly finished packing them for me, secured them and took them away. They seamlessly moved my belongings out of my former residence (despite the narrow stairwell) and into my new residence efficiently and politely. I would like to emphasize their politeness because it can be somewhat rare in the service-related industry of NYC especially when moving can be highly traumatic for the person moving. Finally, it was service with smile the whole way which is another pleasant surprise. Nothing was broken or lost. Serenity was recommended by a friend who had a positive experience so I was eager to have them handle my move of exactly one avenue. Max and Roni were so wonderful over the phone and I was certain I had made a good decision. However, when the three movers showed up I had a very different experience. First, the driver locked the keys in the car and he had to wait outside for 2 different locksmiths to come. As the remaining two guys started moving some of our more delicate items like lamps, pictures and an expensive wooden bar, it was clear they didnt care about what happened to our possessions. A glass lampshade fell onto the street as it wasn't wrapped. A table lamp was punctured because it was simply thrown in a bin with other items. The bar was badly scratched- an $750, 50lb piece of furniture which was in mint condition. Boxes marked glass, do not stack were crushed and several glasses and corningware plates were cracked in pieces. When I called to report my experience, I was unfortunately only compensated for the weight of the items ruined, which is only a small fraction of the actual value. Overall, I'm extremely disappointed and had to spend a good amount of money to replace those items which broke. read more

Anyway, I haven't been on Yelp in awhile, but I did find Serenity through yelp, and I wanted to add my thoughts here. Max was lovely to work with and our foreman, Teddy, could not have been more professional, speedy, organized and efficient. Even though we had about twice as much stuff as they thought (our miscalculation, not theirs) the move only took 30 minutes longer than we anticipated. Getting professional movers is really the only way to stay sane during such a stressful time. A really can't recommend these guys enough. The telephone staff were very helpful, and the move itself was very smooth. We made a good effort to make things easier for the movers, it paid off. The move was done 2hrs under schedule. So I had some challenges moving from Brooklyn to Queens but the customer services at Serenity made up for those challenges in spades! Our movers were very professional. The team leader, Leon, was efficient, communicative, and proactive. A real pleasure to work with. The whole team was kind, patient and diligent. We had no mishaps and they were very careful with walls in our staircase. We hired 3 drivers because we had a lot of travel time built into our move and it didn't seem worth it to us to pay one more person to sit in a truck for 4-5 hours. That said, if your move can accommodate it, I think it is a bit more humane to hire 4 drivers (and this should mean less time). Our guys were such hard workers, but they seemed genuinely exhausted by the end, and we felt kind of bad for shortchanging their team. Just something to consider from another customer, understanding that it might sound like a hard sell coming from the company itself. Max was absolutely lovely to deal with. And I look forward to helping him with his promising voiceover career - he doesn't know about it yet, but just listen to this guy's voice on your answering machine! read more

I can honestly say that I have zero complaints about my move with Serenity Movers. I had a morning appointment and not only where they on time, they were early. It took them an hour over what was estimated, but this was mainly due to the fact that my roommate and I were not fully packed (we had a lot of small boxes and soft bags that needed to be combined) and the guys spent extra time putting things in boxes. Most importantly, we had a lot of breakable items and delicate furniture and the team wrapped everything and moved it with diligence and ease. Serenity Movers is a great moving company. My movers fell through the day before I was set to move - I called Maxwell and he was able to schedule me for the next morning. The three movers were on time, very quick and professional. We had everything packed and ready to go, so they just had to wrap the furniture and load the van, which they did very quickly. We didn't know that the destination had steps going down to the service elevator, but the movers had no issue handling that, and were still quick in bringing everything up. They had to disassemble and reassemble my bed and table, which they did with no problem. My mom passed away in January of this year. All I have left of her apart from the memories are her things. I needed to make sure that all her belongings were packed up and transported with care to a secure place until I could figure out what to do with them. I asked friends and family for recommendations on moving companies then I started researching them through Yelp. What got my attention was another review for Serenity movers where they helped another person with their loved ones belongings. I read the other great reviews and gave them a call. To coin a phrase.....Maxwell had me at "Hello" the man has a voice of silk and was gracious, kind and patient with all of my mumbling and scattered thoughts. I explained about my mother's belongings being in Manhattan and me living in Upstate NY and wanting to bring the items to a storage area near my home. He simply said "Yes we will take care of it for you", and I believed him. They did cost more than some of the other places that quoted me, but when I got off of the phone with Maxwell I wasn't left with the feeling that this moving company would just throw my mom's stuff in the back of a truck and screech off hitting the brakes hard at every red stop light. The movers were Teddy, Ricky and Jason and they took time and care to wrap, take apart, and boxed whatever needed to be protected. Teddy stayed in contact with me during the drive upstate and I knew where they were down to them driving up to the meeting spot. They had everything off the truck and tucked away in the storage unit before I could even finish the payment process. I used Serenity Movers last week when moving from Brooklyn to manhattan. I was absolutely thrilled with the service I received. Max was so great to explain all the costs to me and answer my many questions. Molly was also really helpful in getting the certificate of insurance to my new landlord. On the day of the move, the movers called me to let me know they would be 10 minutes late. Upon arrival they got to work immediately and it took them no time at all to load my items. They did a great job of packing two delicate lamps I had. When I moved into my building the next day, they showed up exactly at 9 and quickly unloaded, asking me where I needed my boxes/furniture in different rooms throughout the apartment.
