This is a super cute resturant located right on Newbury Street. It's in the basement so walking by, it can be hard to spot immediately, but eventually you'll see the bright sign and then you walk down a few steps to get in. I ordered the penne alla vodka and it was delicious! My friend got the spaghetti with red sauce and added breaded chicken on top. My friend and I both thought the portions of the pasta were just right. We didn't leave feeling grossly stuffed, but also didn't leave hungry. It was perfect. The service was pretty slow there which we didn't mind too much since we had a lot of catching up to do, but we were here for quite a while. The drinks are strong too!
A beautiful restaurant you can easily walk by on Newbury Street. It's located under the street level. The interior has a really great vibe with European influence. The fig salad is very good and I'm not a huge goat cheese fan. The strawberries were a really nice touch and I really enjoyed everything together. The vodka pizza has a good crisp undercarriage with a good amount of toppings. I wish it had a stronger vodka sauce profile. Overall the food and service are good.
Came for dinner and the place was busy. Instead of waiting 20 minutes for a table, we opted to sit at the bar. The bar area was a bit dark without overhead lighting, but luckily we were offered a table before we even ordered. I ordered the gnocchi and added grilled chicken. The dish came out great. The grilled chicken was cut into small pieces and mixed in with the gnocchi and sauce. The tomatoes were nicely grilled and soft, and the sauce was creamy. The gnocchi was as smooth as can be, almost dissolving with just a little pressure from the tongue. Very satisfying in both flavor and portion. Will return again if I'm in the area and recommend.

I can't say it has super authentic italian flavors, but the tastes are of a more elevated style and bring exactly what you'd crave in any hearty italian dish. I highly recommend the vodka pasta- it was cooked to an absolutely perfect al dente and coated in a cheesy, creamy sauce. Additionally, pairing it with the arugula salad is a great choice to create a balanced plate and to add some variety. If we're nitpicking here (and I feel like you have to with the plethora of great italian food in Boston), I'd say the pasta lacked that traditional vodka tang and the salad was a little over dressed. Plus, the meal was definitely pricey, but that's honestly expected on Newbury Street , and for the quality, portion size, and experience I'd say it's worth it! The vibes of the restaurant were buzzing and it's a great energizing spot for a nice meal with friends. If I had one complaint, the service was a little slow and awkward for being a classier spot, but the vibes were still great and I would definitely come back every once in a while or for special occasion. This is a great reliable spot for a meal in Back Bay!
Very good portions and quality Italian food. Decent amount of options and quick service. Had Tagliolini Al Tartufo Nero with salmon. Was great.
The food was SO delicious. The bread basket was a nice starter, however our waiter forgot to send our appetizer to the kitchen, so we never received to try. Our drinks & food came out very slowly, which isn't a huge issue, rather just something to note if you're in a rush. The restaurant was pretty crowded, but stayed relatively quiet to hear your party.
One thing about me is that I love a creamy and thick carbonara! Its exactly what I got at this place. The service was quick and nice. The ambience was nice since I sat outside and the sun was good.
I went a while back during Dine out Boston. The restaurant is in the basement but very cozily decorated. Good date night spot. Service was good. Tiramisu - best part of dinner. So soft and not too sweet. The fresh fruit was a good contrast to the sweet cream. Branzino - the dish was perfectly cooked and very tender. The tomato sauce wasn't too acidic and the mash potatoes were silky smooth Fig pizza - nice cheese pull. Fig was a nice sweet contrast to the salty pizza and prosciutto Meatballs - mushy and blandly spicy. The tomato sauce redeemed it Chicken parm with vodka pasta - small portion and not too special. Standard chicken cutlet and the vodka sauce broke.
Service is good & so is the food. Although, I do think that the Rigatoni Bolognese could be boiled a little longer. Other than that, the food is pretty yummy!

Serafina Back Bay is a fantastic place to find some delicious Italian food! Menu: They have a pretty extensive menu, covering all the standard pastas and pizza dishes you might expect from an Italian restaurant. Everything looks and smells delicious, and based on what I observed, everyone seems to enjoy the meals. I had the salmon plate recently and it did not disappoint. The salmon was cooked perfectly and the blend of flavors was top notch. They do have quite a few dishes that can accommodate different allergies and dietary restrictions. The menu has a handful of dishes that are dairy-free or vegan (or can be adapted to be vegan) and there is an option to sub gluten-free pasta for the pasta dishes. Experience: The ambiance inside is super chill! I love that you get to experience a calming, pleasant atmosphere, even when every table is filled. It doesn't feel like you have to start yelling across the table, and you still get a sense of privacy between the tables. If you are hoping to come in for a dinner at a certain time, I recommend making a reservation in advance. I did this and was seated promptly, and greeted by a kind server immediately. The restaurant is busy so for a bigger group, would definitely recommend planning ahead to avoid a long wait. Once seated, they provide complimentary bread with olive oil and balsamic vinegar, which is a nice way to start the meal. The servers we had were very kind, attentive, and had great recommendations on the menu and specials. Location: They are located right in the heart of Newbury Street, surrounded by so many fun shops and other cafes and restaurants. The entrance is tucked away from the street, and during the colder seasons, you might miss it if you are just strolling by (and don't pay attention to the yellow awning outside). t's nice because you really get to enter into a chill environment that you forget about the hustle and bustle on the street outside.

visiting serafina back bay on a gorgeous, warm october evening, i sat at the bar and enjoyed the beautiful environment while looking for a delicious pasta dinner. jen is an excellent bartender, and i ended up trying a drink called borrowed time ($17), it was sincerely perfect. borrowed time is made with lunazul blanco, italicus bergamot, lemon, and absinthe. i started with bread; it was a good quality bread but it came out cold. they do have all the necessary sides readily available including olive oil, balsamic vinegar, chili pepper flakes and parmesan cheese. if the bread were warm, it would have been much better. for dinner, i tried their tagliolini alla portofino ($25), a dish that includes serafina pesto, haricots verts, potato, parmigiano reggiano, pine nut, splash of cream and i added organic grilled chicken ($8). this meal was nearly perfect, i loved the taste and ratios, however it only included a small amount of chicken, cut very small. i'd still try it again, but for $33, i felt there should be more than a few bites of chicken. bread service 3/10 pesto chicken 8.5/10 borrowed time 10/10 overall, the restaurant is gorgeous, the drink was perfect, and the meal was nearly perfect. i'd definitely return for a hopefully consistent experience. ambiance: 5/5 food: 3.8/5 drinks: 5/5 service: 4.6/5 serafina back bay: 4.5/5 read more

We love Serafina and have been coming for a while. It's a great spot with a nice atmosphere. We went on a Friday night and it was busy so we just got drinks at the bar with a polpette app and a pizza to go. The polpette (meatballs) are so soft and saucy - a must try. We also got the fig and proscuritto pizza which is the perfect salty sweet combo if you like that and perfectly fresh with some peppery/bitter arugula to finish. They make their pizzas really well - they are fresh, the dough is crispy yet soft and chewy. They put a lot of toppings on without overwhelming the ratio and making the slices impossible to eat. You honestly can't go wrong with anything. This is a beautiful spot right in the heart of Newbury St. read more

So yum! My party and I had a reservation here after seeing Hamilton in the theater district! Everyone loved their food. I got the penne alla vodka- so creamy, delicious, and flavorful! Their wine selection Is excellent as well. I recommend the orange wine if you sit outside a gorgeous day- definitely added to the experience! Our overall service was great. We arrived ~15 minutes early and we got a table fast. read more
All I can say is WOW! After a long trek through Newbury St, we finally decided to stop at Serafina's for an Italian dinner. This was one of the best decisions I have ever made. The pasta dish I tried here was better than any I've had in the North End, which says a lot. The service was great, and we enjoyed some bread and olive oil/balsamic vinegar to start off with. Highly highly highly recommend the Farafelle Al Limoncello. The lemon sauce pairs fantastically with the pasta cooked perfectly, and the shrimp was so fresh and flavorful. The cherry tomatoes were done right and added a great burst of flavor to the dish as well. The Serafina burger was also very good, with a unique paste of bacon jam smeared on it. It leans more towards the sweeter side, but compliments the savory flavors from the burger very well. The fries were also incredible, but I should've gotten them truffle style! Not to worry, because I will be back immediately. read more
What a beautiful weekend it was and perfect weather to sit outside on Newbury Street enjoying a great meal! That's exactly what we did after walking around the Boston Common and gardens and walked along Newbury Street to find a place for dinner. Had passed by this place many times in the past but finally got a chance to try it out and it was great! I ordered the sautéed branzino which came with a really nice tangy sauce and cherry tomatoes. The two fillets was quite a big portion although I would have liked if it also came with a small side of rice or potatoes. There was complimentary bread so that was nice. The hubs got the orichiette pasta dish with sausage and that was quite delicious as well. Service was friendly and efficient. It was really nice enjoying the outside and a great meal. As we finished it started raining just a bit - good thing we were done and just went inside downstairs to the restaurant to pay the bill and waited there for our Uber. The inside of the restaurant was really nice too and it seems like a popular place even on a Sunday. Overall great experience! read more

I was really wowed by my experience here! My girlfriend and I made a reservation and were seated promptly, immediately served with complimentary bread and olive oil. It was delicious, and a great way to kick off the night. Aria served us and offered great insight into the menu and made it a great experience! I ordered the farfalle a limoncello while my girlfriend opted for chicken parm, and we raved about both meals. I added mixed vegetables to my pasta, and it was delicious. The sauce was perfect, a lemony-creamy masterpiece that was the best consistency. I added parmesan cheese and chili flakes, and it was game over. Such a great option and great location! Ok I think the plates are comically big, but no joke the Tagliolini Alla Portofino is one of the best pastas I have had in Boston. It was so rich and so creamy. Wow. The gnocchi was also delicious - it was flavorful in a classic way. There was free bread, yum. The waiter was kind and attentive. The outdoor dinner area looked nice too. I am impressed! read more
Serafina is great! They gave us a bunch of free bread to start with which was appreciated and we got the Arancini as an appetizer which was DELICIOUS! For our main courses my boyfriend got the vodka sauce and I got the pesto and they were both really good but maybe a bit too creamy, mine could've had a more pesto flavor than cream flavor and it was very heavy. But overall this meal was great, the only thing that's not is the price because it does feel overpriced for what it is. But it's newbury street so I guess that's expected. read more
Stopped at Serafina for lunch over the long weekend. It was lovely weather outside and I was pleasantly surprised to be seated right away! The servers were very attentive and gave us plenty of time to decide. I had the cacio e pepe and my friend got the aglio e oglio and we both tried each others. The pasta came out steaming hot and was delicious. The aglio e oglio was the right amount of spicy and garlicky and the cacio e pepe was creamy and peppery. A great place to go to for lunch read more
I had a delicious brunch at Serafina. My friend and I ordered the shakshuka, and it was amazing. The spices were perfect and the feta really added flavor, and the bread was perfectly toasted. The restaurant itself is so warm and comforting - it feels very cozy but also elegant at the same time. The design is so creative and the decor is unique, and creates a really cool vibe to the place. The service was good - the food came out quite quick and our server was friendly. I enjoyed my brunch at Serafina and I would recommend it, especially the shakshuka! read more
Went there without a reservation on a Friday night. They were able to accommodate us right away which was nice. We sat on the patio and shared the truffle arancini and it was definitely the best thing we've ordered. We were not impressed with the pasta dishes, it wasn't bad but it also wasn't wow. The service was nice and friendly. Overall it's a great spot with comfortable seating and nice decor but the food could be more exciting. read more

Great place for a date night. My partner and I really enjoyed our food and experience. The waiter was attentive and offered good service. Food -- Taglioini alla portofino: I got this because there was a previous yelp review that raved about it. They were right. It was delicious and unique. I usually get the basic when it comes to pasta but decided to step out of my comfort zone and so glad I did. The overall pasta texture was good (some parts were stuck together though but it's okay). I am a big fan of the pesto sauce and the potatoes were cooked perfectly. The pine nuts also added some texture and hint of flavor too. Chicken Alfredo: First off the chicken was tender and juicey. The sauce was a tad salty in my opinion though. Overall it met expectations but didn't exceed it. Truffle Arancini: I loveeee arancinis and it was cooked just right (crispy on the outside and soft rice filling with cheese). The hint of truffle was also nice. One thing I personally didn't like was the marinara sauce. At other places, it was just the arancini itself and I enjoyed that more. read more

Taking stars off for the kitchen not making my pizza crispy well done, despite my emphasizing to the server about this. They made me a whole new pizza and it was very good, This place is also very pricey for what it is. Enjoyable. read more
