I recently visited the Sephora store in Pasadena on Colorado Boulevard, a store I've shopped at for many years. During my visit, I had an unfortunate experience with a makeup artist whom I believe was named Kai. My companion and I were simply using a mirror near her makeup station when she approached us and abruptly told us not to touch anything. Rather than politely explaining that the area had been sanitized for the next customer and asking us to use a different mirror, her approach felt unnecessarily confrontational. What made the interaction even more uncomfortable was that she then returned and covered the entire station with cloths, which made us feel as though we had done something wrong or were somehow unwelcome. I later spoke with the manager, Taylor, hoping to discuss the situation. Unfortunately, I did not feel my concerns were taken seriously, and the conversation was not particularly helpful. The manager also would not confirm the employee's name, making it difficult to provide accurate feedback. I understand that the store was extremely busy, and I appreciate the challenges that come with managing a high-volume retail environment. However, customer service and professionalism should never be compromised. After years of being a loyal Sephora customer, this experience left me disappointed and reconsidering where I choose to shop. Going forward, I will likely be taking my business to Ulta instead. I hope Sephora uses this feedback as an opportunity to reinforce the importance of courteous communication and customer care. read more

My first time in there waiting for my phone from Apple was not a good experience the whole thing with them is worry about getting merchandise stolen so they try to get you out fast I wasn't there for anything and the more I walked because the store is huge and so many brands I have ADHD it was overwhelming & they made me nervous I've worked retail before but I wasn't like this the products I got were nothing I would buy gave it away and the product I need afraid to use because it would be nothing I would wear since it wasn't a clean product since I have sensitive skin I use to be a make up artist so products are everything on how my makeup will lay on my complexion still afraid to use what I would recommend the store to go completely on line if they are afraid of people stealing. I worked at The Body Shop Atmosphere calm & inviting that store crickets maybe me & 1 other client. But you do have a lot of sales people. And they directed me to walk on another street to wait for my iPhone to be fixed at the Apple Store. I had money to burn but I won't go there anymore I will go back to my The Body shop or try Ulta maybe their customer service is a little calmer & inviting. Thank you read more

I booked a 100 dollar makeup appointment at Sephora out of necessity because I was in Central LA far from home in Long Beach and had forgotten my makeup bag. I expected a simple clean look in a soft 1920s smoky style. Unfortunately this was the worst makeup application I have ever received. The artist was kind in conversation but the work itself was extremely disappointing. The makeup was uneven unblended and nowhere near what I asked for. I left feeling like the artist did not put in much effort and it really impacted how I felt afterward. Now I have to look at the photos and see makeup that was poorly done. For 100 dollars I expected at least a basic level of care and skill. I would recommend doing your own makeup before spending that amount here because my experience did not match the standard I expected. read more

Overall, I like Sephora I think it's better than Ulta because of the options. This Sephora in particular is located in old Pasadena such a cute area so it does get pretty congested and it's a little tight. It's like they're shoving everything in the store. The staff is friendly, but again they're all pretty busy and maybe I went on such a busy night. I've only been there once. But they have all the brands. Tons of options for sol de Janeiro. And tons of make up options. I wouldn't drive out of my way to come to this particular store just because of parking. But if you're already shopping in old Pasadena, I'd stop in. read more

They offer great perks if you are a Beauty Insider and you can also buy online & pick-up at your local store if you need something same day. There are plenty of associates and beauty advisors on hand who are happy to assist. She was the heavyset lady at the registers, wish I got her name but I was in a rush to get out of her way cause it seemed like she wasn't having it. Everyone else there was nice like always. I told her I was sent to the register to also pick up my online order and she gave me a disgusted face asked me "who did?" It's fine if I was mistakenly sent there cause I was going to go to the registers to pay for an item anyways, we all make mistakes I just didn't appreciate her reaction it was so unprofessional. This location consistently lacks customer service & is disorganized. Everytime I visit this location, I am ignored, even when I seek help to locate a product. Funny part is, cashier will almost always ask if anyone helped me. Parking is inconvenient as well, as street parking is almost nonexistent, with trucks constantly loading & blocking space. I wish there was parking for online orders, so customers could easily pick up. Unfortunately the headache of parking, along with the lack of assistance & disorganization of products makes visiting this store a very unpleasant experience. I visited this location again yesterday, after looking for parking for over 40 minutes. I attempted to look for a specific product, and grabbed multiples of it as I don't want to return to Sephora anytime soon. I later realized after I got home that one of the products looked similar (same-sized box) but was incorrectly placed, resulting in me purchasing the wrong product--that was my fault for not looking closely enough. I had to deal with the whole ordeal of returning, parking again, & waiting in line (which always moves super slow). Having to return and deal with useless associates, parking, and slow lines was annoying, but the associate was really rude when I returned the product & initially hassled me about it (even though I told her what happened). Talk about rubbing salt in the wound. Save yourself the trouble and go to another location. The Sephora in Alhambra tends to have much better customer service & parking. You're better off driving elsewhere, even if it's a little further out. read more

Julie (hopefully I spelled correctly. she has pink hair) was incredibly helpful. Whenever we crossed paths, she checked in with me. I asked her for some shade matches and recommendations because I have olive skin, which a lot of brands don't cater to. Her shade-matching skills are amazing and she's very sweet. As for the other staff, I didn't feel the same. It felt like there were more staff than shoppers and many of the staff talk amongst themselves. I like to test and match in-store and order online so I get my free samples. Pretty good store in general as they have a lot in stock and on display. read more

Ruined Sephora for me forever. When Sephora was first a thing, I went to the brand new place in Greenwich Village in Manhattan. It was amazing to see all these products in one place. I've been to the Sephora in Paris, which was fabulous. I've been to Sephora stores all across America. This is hands down not only the worst Sephora store ever, it's one of the worst beauty industry emporiums ever. I went in there today because all my make-up got ruined, so I was prepared to spend a decent amount of money on new stuff. I walked in with my freshly scrubbed make-up free face so I could try products. Maybe that was my mistake. Maybe it's that I'm not 22 or carrying a huge Vuitton bag or giggling with a gaggle of trust fund kids. Whatever the reason, literally not a single salesperson approached me to ask if I needed help. Not. One. Person. Also, why they have squashed a Sephora into this tiny overcrowded space is beyond me. So now I'm off to Neiman Marcus where I promise you I will be treated like a valued customer and someone will do my make-up and I'll walk out looking and feeling fabulous. This is my local Sephora and I am so blessed to be living a few blocks down. (Or should I say dangerously blessed?) I never felt inclined to leave a review but this past Friday, an employee went out of his way to offer a sample without being asked! Shout out and thank you to Dennis!! I had just finished a laser facial I was new to nearby and didn't know I was going to have to use two serums on the hour for 6 hours (I had jampacked my day off with back to back appointments and errands). I didn't want to buy it at the laser clinic (60$ versus The Ordinary's exact dupe for 10$?) -- so I was able to buy one and Dennis said that the 2nd one I wanted was sold out. He offered (and actually ran to the back) to squeeze out the very last of the sample product before I left (which I didn't think to even ask)! I just wanted to say thank you to Haille for her kindness and expertise! I knew I needed help finding the right color foundation. Everything I tried was always too orange or pink or made me look like a ghost. I was anxious about going into the store, though, because I have bad skin and terrible makeup skills. But, Haille was absolutely wonderful! Zero judgment. She made me feel so welcomed. And, she really took the time to find just the right color for me. We must have gone through ten different products, and I felt liked she really wanted to get it just right for me. She didn't rush me at all and took time to answer my questions. I've been in here a time or two to buy beard products or cologne and the staff are always rude and most of the security that works here have that little man syndrome. When I am shopping I don't want to be followed around when I am dressed nice, look good and spend money. Also, finding someone here to help you is a job in itself. I mean everyone has bad days but you shouldn't work in customer service if you are a poor judge of character or you hate people in general. Just saying! Nice spot, communication could be improved. I don't use a lot of makeup, but for a key birthday, I booked a session to do a makeup refresher lesson. The makeup person was lovely, and she walked me through a lot of things. After I left, I realized I had left 2 very $$$$ eye shadows on her desk. They were Shiseido, from Japan. I went back twice right after, and she was not there. I left my phone number, and the staff at the entrance said she or someone would call me. No one called. I lost my 2 nice eye shadows, worth $$$$, and only available in Japan. And later, I read on the website that Sephora actually does not allow personal products to be brought in. So, they need to get their story straight--do they allow personal products, or not? And how does communication work between different modes of the staff. With this pandemic and having to wear masks 24/7, my skin was going crazy especially because of 'maskne'. I did some research at home for new skincare products to switch up to take really good care of my pores and maskne. I was able to narrow down to 3 products and which 2 of them I had to buy from Sephora. I was so relieved when I found this location open. I didnt want to order online and wait forever. One at the mall is still closed and thats the one I usually go to. Anyway, to make things short, I was able to purchase 2 products I needed to get which they had in stock and the girls there helped me locate it. They were all so friendly and recommended a product upon asking a question and ended up getting what she recommended as well. I also had $10 reward on my VIB rewards and used that as well. My birthday is in this month so I think I should be able to get a small birthday present next time I go. Racially profiled! If could give zero stars I would. All I wanted was some perfume. I love Sephora but this particular store made my skin crawl, and every two seconds I'm being asked if "I needed help" while another customer is stealing right behind them. No one noticed them of course. This is not the first time that this has happened at this location to me. I kept getting followed and glared as if I was going to steal something. I'm 34 years old! I went in line to pay for my items and they were still following me to the line. As I was in the line, another worker walked by the line to "discreetly glance" in my bag I came in with! I put my items down and left. Beware if you are of any sort of color. I've seen the other reviews and this is not how you display customer service nor show people how they should be treated. The disrespect was so uncalled for. Shame on these workers. I know what it's like working in customer service, and I would be fired if I displayed this type of behavior. I visited this Sephora today and had such a positive experience. Everyone was very helpful and friendly but not overbearing or too hover-y. Taylor ended up helping me try to find a color match for some foundation and concealer and she truly went above and beyond looking for a color that wouldn't be too yellow or dark on my very pale skin. She sanitized each item in front of me, gave me tips for how to apply and test the products, and spent a considerable amount of time helping me when she was in no way obligated to do so. After trying many different shades and brands, we didn't find one that was a sure winner, so she gave me a sample to take home so I could try it on in different lighting. Makeup is something that intimidates me, but Taylor's patience, knowledge, and kindness made an anxiety- inducing experience feel fun. read more

I love that sephora will make you little samples to try. I saw the 'Valentino Donna' in the window and just took a chance. Went in to check out some fragrances that had been on my mind. We had a great time testing out a bunch of perfumes and while we were asked if we needed help multiple times, we never felt rushed. I did ask if they had small samples so I could try it out before committing to one scent, but they said that they stopped giving these out. I was a little confused because a recent review said that they had gotten a sample. Everyone was still super nice though! I also investigated some lip liners/lipsticks but a lot of the testers were super mangled and had like parts falling off. They were also furry, but I'm assuming that's because people used the disposable sticks to swatch. read more

Be careful! Some staff in this store are liars. A lady I forgot her name persuaded me to apply for their credit card when I purchased Mascara. I asked her again and again whether the credit card would produce further payment or not. She said: " No. You will have a discount this time if you apply for the credit card".However, I constantly received the bill of their credit card after several months and it charged me about $70. Later, I had to call their customer service to close my account and make a payment. It's completely a tricky. Just deny if they recommend you to apply for any coupon. read more
