Got a chance to try their wonderful beauty products known for NO synthetic fragrance, NO parabens, and NO sulfates. They use only pure, plant-based essential oils... free from harsh chemicals and foaming agents. That's clean beauty! I had bought face cleanser, moisturizer, sunscreen, and lip moisturizer at the Yelp event. After using these products for a week or so, I noticed my face was lighter, smoother, and softer. It's the real deal folks! Soon after, I went online and bought one of their bath and body sets. I haven't opened the box yet. I intend to use the products soon. To start, we were asked what our skin goals are in order to tailor the correct skin care routine. I was chosen to attend a Yelp Elite event at Lather. I've walked past so many times but have never gone in, so this was the push I needed. The store is clean and bright, and both people working were so welcoming. The event included a demo with a bunch of their products, and I was helped by the very friendly and enthusiastic Jay. He gave me a quick tour of the store and an overview of the products. Then we went to the sink and I tried the whole facial skin care line. Jay explained the different choices within each category (cleaner, serum, etc.) and we chose the ones best for my skin type. Honestly, my skin felt amazing and looked so bright when we were done! Then we did some body treatments, by using scrubs lotions and oils on my hands. All the products are natural, with natural ingredients and no chemicals. I ended up purchasing the whole skin care line, plus a few other things! Luckily I got an event discount. Really fun and cool experience. I loved having a nice little spa day and trying out their products. The place is clean, aesthetic, and feels spa-like. Veronica was so lovely and fun to experience this with. Veronica did a facial analysis on me to pick out a personalized skincare routine for me. I loved how all of the products are all-natural and clean. I am huge on skincare, and having natural ingredients is so good for the body and face. According to my skin type and needs, I tried out the facial cleanser, Caviar Lime AHA exfoliator, Sweet Almond Daily moisturizer, Vitamin C Serum, and Daily SPF. My face has never felt so clean lol. Afterwards, she walked me through the other products they offer. The body lotions smell amazing, especially the coconut one, and feels so light and moisturizing. We purchased this kit and are so happy we did as it includes the Radiant Recovery Sheet Face Mask, Lip Conditioning Balm, Hand Therapy Hand Cream, and Cucumber Melon Facial Mist. My favorite product of the facial I experienced was the Caviar Lime AHA Exfoliator, it feels so soft and almost velvety on the skin but really feels like it cleans it as well. It is great for blackheads, etc. or is also just a healthy exfoliation that is gentle but still does exactly what you want an exfoliator to do. Ayana was also so pleasant and friendly, and helped me sign up for the rewards program. I can have a dry flakey scalp and he showed me the avocado mint foaming scrub. I figured I'd try it since I couldn't find anything to help my scalp before. They had a lot of products for skin and hair that are not using any bad chemicals that so many products on the market do. So I was intrigued. Long story short, we had 2 hours and each guest got a 30 minute demo. I opted out due to two prior demo events with the Yelp Elite events. She went out of her way to make my birthday so special! The staff at Lather were so nice, encouraging and helpful. We were greeted with a warm smile by Ayahnna when we first entered the store, quickly followed by Jay who introduced us to Veronica, the one who conducted our consultation and presented the products to us. All the items had such a lovely smell coming from a clean line. Being a migraine sufferer myself, it was great to see how the founder, Emilie Hoyt, was also a victim to them and took a proactive approach to do something about it. The result is this wonderful variety of clean products she is sharing with the world. Using them feels like you've had a treatment at a day spa. Veronica was generous with compliments, information and suggestions. Jay and I exchanged various tips and tricks to help us out in our daily lives. TLDR: 5/5 - **Pamper Party Edition** Had a pamper party! Truly truly such a fun experience to share with the girls! Ally and Veronica were so lovely, we all felt accommodated for, love their products, and parking wasn't too difficult. Yelp Elite might have got me in the door to know about this place but I will now be a full-time fan for a long time! I had the privilege to do a pamper party at Lather with 4 of my girls. They were pretty booked up given our ideal day and time so this was about 4 months out of planning more or less. Ally, the store manager, however, worked with me to secure a date and checking in if anything changed! We did also request if we could do anything for our friends engagement and they were able to give her a special treat! Cupcakes for all of us! The day before one of the people in my party could not come and they still let us give her a gift bag as if she was there, so sweet. Pamper Parties are about 2 hours. It is a private event but they technically can't legally "close" the store which was alright with us! Thankfully no one really came in but just note that when you're looking to book they could offer a better time when it typically dies down in the store. When you come in you're immediately greeted by the team helping us (Ally and Veronica at the time) who will give you your gift bags and talk you through the procedures: a consultation, a facial(ish) and recommendations on what to get for your skin type! While each person is either getting a consult or a facial you're free to enjoy the spread they provide for you: we had mimosa's, fruit, and cupcakes. You can bring your own food and drink as well! I think 4/5 is a perfect number for everyone to have enough time. Again, Ally and Veronica were super helpful and so sweet, loved their energy! Notes: - Parking: Street parking is pretty cruel in Pasadena but there is a parking lot on Darcy? Right on the corner from where the shop is that's safer in case you shop after. What a find!! I'm VERY impressed with my experience at LATHER! I tend to be extremely skeptical of all skin care products- so much so that I haven't changed my skin care regimen since I was a teenager and I never wear makeup after numerous bad experiences with rashes and allergic reactions etc. So I was pretty nervous when my lovely Yelp buddy @SamB invited me to be a guest at her Pamper Party - but I'm SO glad I went!! Their "Pamper Party" service is for you and 5-6 friends and they do a skin care assessment and your group gets to do facials and face masks and you'll get personalized skin care recommendations from the LATHER pros - all while champagne flows and you snack on fruit and vegan cookies. We had A BLAST! Our hosts were Lauren (manager) and Jacqueline (total skin care PRO!!) and they were just awesome!! Fantastic energy - so bubbly, friendly, and fun!! They really made our evening so special....I can't say enough wonderful things about them. During the pamper party, they do a drawing for a prize. The prize for our party was their "summer soother" soap package that includes 4 bars of soap in various lavender scent combinations that smell amazing - and I won!! I never win anything so that just made my night haha! I walked away with several bottles of various skin care products - like toner, vitamin c serum, several cleaners and face masks - my first whole new skin care routine since I was a teenager! I've only been using my new routine for a few days and already see a HUGE difference in my face - it looks more radiant and all my blemishes are just gone - I'm blown away! We also got to hear all about the owner and her motivations for starting the business back in 1999 and her philosophies - all fantastic. I love that they don't use artificial perfumes and things like that. They're located in a lovely spot right in the heart of Old Town Pasadena. When they reached out via email to promote the extension of their VIP Sale event, I noticed the email was not one of those automatic emails. I took the opportunity to respond to them I was there and was disappointed. They responded within 24 hours. The store manager, Lauren, was extremely nice in her email and asked if we can have a short chat. This Lather store can be found in Old Town Pasadena, next door to J Crew and the Apple Store. The nearest parking would be in the structure off of De Lacey Ave. I have heard about Lather before when I had seen a previous Yelp event hosted at Lather (but I did not RSVP, nor did I attend that Yelp event, as I recall that I was working the evening of that event). But fast forward this past February when a new friend of mine had invited me to a Lather Pamper Party. What is a pamper party you ask? It is a private in- store event that allows guests to enjoy some small skin (primarily on the face) treatments and also receive a skin assessment so that they can find out which products may be best for them. Because I have rather sensitive skin, I like to use Korean and Japanese skin care products on my face. But I also do like to use the brand Fresh, Dermalogica and La Roche Posay as well. In terms of price point, I think Lather is on par with some of these brands and think their products are actually pretty good. At the end of the pamper party, I ended up purchasing a few products that I tried (it is nice that participants of the party were able to get a 15% discount on all purchases that day). And then I eventually came back to this store location (this location and Long Beach are the only ones in California) on my own to make additional purchases and have also ordered on line and picked up my items in store to save on shipping. I also had introduced my sister in law to Lather as well. The employees I have interacted with are always in smiles and quite friendly. Also because this store is dog friendly, I have on occasion, have brought my little girl dog with me. They even have dog treats behind the counter if you bring you pet with you. I started using Lather products a couple of months ago after attending a Yelp Elite Experience. I park at the parking structure down the block. They charge $1 for an hour. You take your ticket and pay once you return to the structure before going to your car. The inside of the store is beautiful. It has an open layout design with an island of products in the middle and a soap wall in the back. The sides have different product walls. I love that their products are free of: synthetic fragrance, sulfates, and parabens. Their products are also cruelty free. Chris helped me during my visit. He was very friendly and helpful. He educated me on some of their products that I hadn't tried before. I restocked some products, and I purchased new ones to try. I currently use their ultra mild face wash, citrus balancing toner, and ultra light face lotion. The face wash feels light and foams nicely. It doesn't leave you feeling dry. I like to use their toner at night; It makes my face feel extra clean. Their ultra light face lotion moisturizes my skin well, and a little bit goes a long way. I love their natural sea wool sponge. It helps lather my bars very nicely. Their avocado mint scalp scrub foams very nicely and help my scalp feel very clean. This is helpful, especially for the cold months, as my scalp can get a little dry. Their lavender & olive foaming body scrub leaves my skin feeling smooth. I'm going to be trying the new products I purchased this month. I like to implement the products slowly into my routine so I can be able to pinpoint how it's working for me. I've been coming to Lather in Pasadena for well over a decade back when it was originally on the other side of Colorado Boulevard. While I miss the old location, the products and the service continue to be top notch. I will admit I've gone through various skincare phases and bought everything from drugstore to high-end. Recently I have kept the basics of cleansing and moisturizing simple: gentle products without much fragrance, like Cetaphil. However, there are a number of products at Lather that I continue to rely on. Lather has products for virtually every skin type and concern you might have. I'm a fan of their Ultra Light Face Lotion, a very lightly scented moisturizer. I had been using CeraVe for months, but found that when I used a pharmaceutical skin cream along with it, I got a great deal of redness and irritation. Probably from one of the active ingredients in CeraVe. As soon as I went back to the Ultra Light Face Lotion, my skin calmed down. Another product I'm a fan of is their 10-minute Brightening Mask With Glycolic Acid. It's quite a powerful exfoliater that I would recommend easing yourself into. I find it works great in conjunction with products for evening skin tone like Tretinoin (Retin-A) and Hydroquinone. It's admittedly quite enjoyable just visiting the store and smelling the various products: they have a general trend of light floral or herbal notes: pleasant, but you're not left smelling like a garden. I enjoy the soaps for both their fragrance and their non-drying character. I especially enjoy the one containing patchouli. I have always received excellent service while shopping there. I'm almost always remember from past visits and greeted warmly. The staff have always been willing to answer questions and provide samples if you don't want to plop down a 40 dollars on a product you're unsure about (big props for that). So, I was able to bring most of the parties I invited to try this Vegan skincare line as a part of our Mother's Day/Belated Bday Celebrations (Part 1). They were extremely generous that they sent me the promised $50 to use towards any purchase which was Not obligatory. But as Yelpers, we should always set out to support our local biz. Did I just find my new go-to natural skincare spot?! Because lemme tell you... LATHER is THAT girl. I made an appointment mid week (same day) and arrived a bit early. I was helped immediately and greeted/walked through the entire experience by Jacqueline who was extremely knowledgeable, hilarious and overall amazing. With J's guidance, we formulated a perfect essential oil roller moment - an all natural perfume alternative. Mine was a mix of neroli, black pepper, bergamot and rosewood; a perfectly balanced scent (I was basically born to do this). Who doesn't love smelling like they've just walked out of a spa?! After I left the hideous Sephora across the street, I walked into the lovely, peaceful, upbeat, calming Lather. I've loved and used their products for years. It's not a one-stop for cosmetics, but the self-care quotient is through the roof. Every product will soothe and calm and invigorate. The two young ladies working there were lovely, friendly and helpful. Oh my GOD! So, I was invited here by my friend Vivian for a "girl's day" pampering session which I couldn't fully enjoy because I had makeup on for another thing... Anyhow, I got home and tried all of their products and LOVE LOVE LOVE them all. I couldn't be more thankful and happy that I was invited here because I have found my new go-to brand. I have sensitive skin and break out if I even touch my face but all of their stuff is so gentle and effective it's perfect. The staff girlies were super kind and gave us a lot of information about the products. They also informed our party that their brand is woman-owned and women-powered which I'm super down with.
