**ONLINE Order REVIEW** Right before COVID I treated myself to my favorite perfume. After Covid, it was delivered and A porch pirate stole my package from work. Devastated, I drank 2 bottles of wine and thought about my options. Should I continue life with my second favorite perfumes and pretend TOCCA Florence never existed?? I officially ran out of my Tart clay foundation and was in desperate need to find get a new one that would match my new skin tan because this was my first whole summer in LA and my previous foundation shade was a little too light enough for my skin. I asked to get a color match and was assigned to Clara. I told her that in the past, the color match foundation always gave me wrong foundation colors and not a little off, but rather very off shades. After trying a couple of shade numbers the machine suggested, Clara decided to try a few she thought would better fit my skin type and color. It was here that I discovered that I am most definitely do not have a warm undertone, but rather a neutral beige. After a couple of more shades, we found my perfect shade and since I was meeting my friend for lunch in an hour, Clara helped me put on my makeup since I had to clean my whole face prior to starting my color match. This is a mini, convenient Sephora inside JCP. It's really for those who want to go in & back out asap. Location wise -- it's conveniently inside the mall instead of having to go across to the other end of the Americana. The staff is 100% accommodating, well those I ran into at least. They were patient enough to help me find the right shade since the hotter days are coming up. We tried a few different foundations & used their smart iQ device to match up the different brands. The line does tend to move slow and get backed up because there's only two cashiers (usually only 1 staff). I love all Sephoras, just on principle. But this in-JCPenney location has a good overall selection and helpful employees. Today Aurora helped me find a new concealer since they changed the formula on the Laura Mercier one I have been using for years (and I'm not a fan of the new goopier version). Aurora was sweet and patient, and helped me with several product until I found what I was looking for. You can use JCPenney gift cards AND Sephora gift cards here. They do not have every product that they carry in the Americana location, but you can always call and find out if they have what you are looking for. You can do regular returns here but if you do returns for credit you will get a JCPenney credit. read more

This Sephora shouldn't even be a Sephora. The store was so unorganized, all the shelves were messy and the testers were so gross, I was scare to even touch it. When I got to the register, I specified I wanted to do an return/exchange. About 15 minutes into the process, the employee told me I would received my refund as a JC PENNY STORE CREDIT. Had an amazing experience today at this Sephora location! I came in for a "custom makeover" and was really excited but nervous because I hadn't had my makeup done in awhile. I brought a picture to show how I wanted my makeup done, hoping it could look similar. And Albert executed the makeup look perfectly! Not only was he super helpful and nice but I walked out of Sephora feeling beautiful. I wish he could do my makeup every single day! I definitely recommend him to anyone who is looking for someone to do their makeup. He even taught me how to apply false eyelashes, which was always a struggle for me. I had my makeup done at 1 in the afternoon, went to work, went out with my friend then to dinner and even at 1 am my makeup was still on and did not look cakey at all! I think I just had the worst customer service experience of my life here today. All I did was ask for 2 samples to be made from an associate. She seemed to be annoyed by my request, but I tried to ignore the tude and be positive. Shortly afterwards she must've not noticed I was right near her because she proceeded to complain about me to a coworker and mentioned how annoyed she was to have to put the products back, which I would've gladly put back myself it she hadn't hung on to them. With the stand along Sephora location at the Americana, I never think to shop at the JC Penny location inside the Glendale Galleria. But am I glad I decided to come in. I was roaming around the store looking for a specific brand of foundation when I spotted Elaine and she courteously assisted me in finding my shade and helping me find a powder foundation that would compliment the foundation. She didn't rush me, and didn't insist that I had to buy a slew of other products that I did not want or need. She was genuinely kind and caring. It seems that they tried to squeeze in as much as they can in the small space. Nevertheless, it is still a good store to get what you need without walking to the americana. Atmosphere: Can get crowded since it is a small store. Friendly workers that will help you if the store is not as busy. Try not to go during peak times because the line can get very very long. Service: Great! Nothing bad here. Very friendly and helpful employees. Products: I wouldn't use the testers here if I were you. They're a bit messy and/or empty. A bit of upkeep on these would help a lot. Like I said earlier, there are the main products, but not everything in a main sephora can be found here. I was looking for brushes, and some of the brush bins were empty. Again, it all comes with the small store. Parking: This is inside the JCpenney, so you got a whole garage of free parking! Woo! I have been to this Sephora numerous times now for a few years. Every time my family/friends go to JCPenny's, I will always stop by here to see what's been newly released, how palettes swatch, try out skincare products, etc. When you first walk in here, you get two situations: 1. Everything is well stocked but nothing seems to be fairly clean/decent. 2. Basically nothing is stocked and still doesn't seem fairly clean or decent. It can get VERY packed here during weekends and after usual work hours. You can also count on not having your hopes up when it comes to having good customer service. Today (7/17/17), I walked in like usual. There are employees doing their business like usual. Also, didn't get a greeting, like usual. Don't know if it was because of the way I looked today but most of the customers who walked in after me were greeted and asked if they wanted any help. Okay. Cool. I was walking around to look for the Urban Decay Naked Heat Palette and got to swatch it. Also looked to see if they carried the Hourglass Vanish Stick Foundation (they didn't). I was literally wandering around this Sephora for thirty minutes looking for stuff and most of the employees just kind of looked at me with a face that read, "uhhh why are you here...?" One employee, however, did greet me after I was wandering around and asked me if I needed any help. I asked her about the hourglass foundation and she was the one who informed me that they didn't carry it at that location. She was very nice! I regret not looking at her name tag but she knows who she is lol. After this, I started to look for the ABH stick foundations. Most to all of the shades were sold out (even the testers weren't there anymore). About 6-7 shades were left. I didn't bother asking any of the other Sephora employees about it because they were busy talking to each other about how soft brushes were and also because they were rearranging products on shelves. I was going to give up on trying to find something to buy but then I remembered how people were recommending me to try the tarte Shape Tape concealer. I wanted to get one but wanted to see which shade would fit my skin tone most. I looked for it myself for about 15 minutes. During this time, I noticed how all the other Sephora employees were greeting the other four customers that walked in and helping out other people or were just busy talking to one another. Also noticed that I was getting more and more of the employees' stares the longer I stayed in there so I decided to leave. The reason why I gave this place three stars instead of five was because of how unkept the store was during this time (I came in around 12:30 pm). Also was low stocked on items and everything was misplaced when I tried to swatch things (ex. Stick foundations were in their wrong shade place). Another reason why I gave this place three stars instead of five was because of the fact that employees are very distant when it comes to the customers. Many girls with my skin complexion were kind of ignored while those with a much lighter skin tone were given much better customer service. If you had to choose between this Sephora and the one at the Americana, just go to the one at Americana. Employees will make you feel welcome, products are well stocked, and the store is just cleaner and more kept than this location here. I get that this place is A LOT smaller than the one in Americana, but that doesn't mean that the Sephora here shouldn't be well kept and customer service can be selectively chosen. read more

I went to redeem a fragrance certificate and wanted to exchange that fragrance for a different one. She might as well tell me to jump in a lake. Even if it meant paying the extra money? Who turns down extra money?????? I find it inappropriate for a general manager to decline customers in a condescending way. I'm going back without a receipt to exchange for what I really want. Hell no. This is the worst sephora I've ever been to. I've never even been to a location before that I thought was bad but this one is so bad I couldn't wait to get out and write a yelp review. The cashiers were fine but no one really helped me on the floor. One employee gave me a basket after I had been there for like 20 minutes but she was really awkward about it. The layout is CONFUSING and very cramped. My main problem is that this place is DIRTY. It's so dirty it's shocking. I've never been in a sephora before that struck me as dirty but this one is screaming "wash me!" I didn't know it was going to be inside a JC penny but that might be the main problem. Aside from that company being what it is, I'm sure the higher ups of the corporation completely neglect this location.
