I've been coming here for years. Every birthday, holiday, random craft project, back to school, this has been a go-to. NOT ANYMORE. Today my 4 yr. old daughter had to use the restroom and the "supervisor" wouldn't come out from the back room to tell me she couldn't use it. Instead he made the poor young, clearly uncomfortable employee tell me. You might say, well just have her use it before you leave the house, and you'd be right, except it used to be a public restroom so I assumed it wouldn't be closed. And it's a kid. This guy wanted me to put my daughter in her car seat, drive 5 minutes away to the park, have her use it there, and then come back and spend money is his store. ABSOLUTELY NOT. Whenever I'm in the neighborhood, I like to drop in and purchase some products. I especially like the doggy poop bags which contain three in the package. The junk food aisle is pretty good. I also like the cleaning products for the kitchen and bathroom aisle. I wouldn't purchase makeup here though. Plenty of free parking in a shared lot. They really should change the name though because nothing costs a dollar anymore. Everything is actually 1.50, which is still cheaper than going to buy it at the grocery store. read more

NEVER in my life have I had any problems at this store. But wow just left your store and the girl with drawn on eyebrows (assisted the African American young woman @ 2:17pm on this Wednesday 12/18) was just plain rude. First off looked at my 5$ bill and with a dirty look asked if I had any other bill (after showing the cashier next to her and saying look at this) I said "no I just got that change from the store I was at before." I then proceeded to show her how to know if it's real and held it up in the light for her, and like a brat goes and says "yea but still" Ummm wtf do you want ? A crisp bill? Sorry hunny. As much as I was disappointed that the prices are not one dollar. The guy with long black hair in the La Crescenta Store helped me find what I was looking for and was very kind! One criticism you guys should take in consideration is the music. Every time I go to the store is ALWAYS playing the same stupided songs. Really disappointed upon my entrance into Dollar King. I was heading to Dollar Tree to pick something up, and was passing by Dollar King and thought I would give it a try instead. I walked in, and walked out without buying anything. First, all prices are now $1.11 each. That is an 11% increase from what the store advertises the prices are. Further, the selection of goods were lacking, and I didn't really see anything that I was looking for. In particular i was going to pick up a few greeting cards. However, at Dollar Tree they are 2 for $1, but at Dollar King they are $1.11 each. That is more than twice the price. I will say that the aisles were more organized that what one finds at Dollar Tree. However, I don't think that the average person going to this type of store is very high maintenance. They are honestly just looking for crappy low quality goods at basement prices. Dollar King does not satisfy that request. Pass.... read more

Here's my honesty about the store it has a lot of issues. The business itself. It has items that are needed but it lacks consistency at times. The pricing. Over years the price has jumped from $1 to $1.11 to now $1.21 it's not to cover the cost of employers. It's poor book keeping and most of the times don't deserve to be $1.21. Also there's tax on every item even food. Which is a no no. Even on drinks it's crv and tax The employees are content at their job and lack knowledge on products. They really don't care about the customer but their job itself but you would only see it if you have to ask for product Availability The only thing helping the store is the fact nobody wants to go several feet down the street to a discount store that has better product. And in proximity of a supermarket a few banks and quiet neighborhood that is free of homeless or drugged out transients. If you are looking for arts and crafts stuff your in a lot of good luck as this store is actually a discount art supply store then a dollar store. I liked going here but it's disappointing going here at times. To go in not find items to grab and go I am looking forward seeing if their pricing reaches daiso japan stores pricing. I prefer going to the Dollar King than other discount stores (actually, I like the Dollar Tree too). The Dollar King is usually organized, clean and I always find new stuff to buy. The only problem I have, is that, the aisles are usually narrow and whenever the store is busy with lots of shoppers, there's always a few persons who get stuck in the lanes. It's like there's traffic in the store itself. Sometimes, it's hilarious. This one lady, just left her trolley in the aisle while she was on another shelf getting something. Customers were confused as to why a random trolley was left there and no one could pass. It was funny, but if I was in a hurry, I would have been an angry customer too. read more

On most days, I would give this place 5 stars. But today, I was in line behind a woman who was finalizing her paying. There was another woman behind me who spoke to the cashier in their language. After a little bit of back-and-forth conversation, she handed the cashier money. The cashier opened up another register and gave her change and the woman walked out with her items. I was so angry! First of all, this is not a true dollar store as the items are actually $1.11. If you are a local to this area and need some dollar items, it is a convenient store. However, you are paying slightly more than if you did go to a 99 cents store or a Dollar Tree. Also, since it is a small store, it is really limited in terms of what you can buy. They have tons of cleaning supplies, party supplies, hair/makeup (I bought shower caps once!), etc. Great customer service too! Pauline is great. First, they have the best hours. The fact that it is opened late even on Sundays is so helpful for me. Second, the place is super neat and well organized. It is very easy to browse through the aisles and find what you need. And not to mention, they always seem to have their things in stock, unlike Dollar Tree (across IHOP on foothill). read more
