She treated me as a human being and showed me the respect and courtesy all stores should. Tory (our MUA) and the manager were wonderful. Tory knew exactly what was needed for my friend and took the time to tutor me on a better application technique for my eye shadow. She was phenomenal. All the employees at this location are so attentive, sweet, and helpful! I've been avoiding Sephora and going to Ulta because employees at other locations have done their best to ignore customers but NOT HERE! Special shoutout to the makeup artist with the short dark hair who was so patient with me and helped me finally find a foundation that was my perfect shade. I come here the excellent customer service from Jesus, my main location. I haven't seen him working when I came in. I think he's the only person that's genuine. He focus on getting my need met rather try to sell things, I end up coming back another day to buy after sampling the products. Sometimes I go to differ location because he's not there. I get facial samples to test it out before purchasing, sometimes I only sampled and not purchase anything. I am sensitive with smell, I have to test it out like a regular day for about a week to see if it gives me a headache or if the cream make my face oily. read more

I wanted to cash in my 500 points for the makeover reward on a Sunday and when I called in to do so was asked to make an appointment online. The online portion is tricky and the reservation section is not easily visible at all. I had to get a Sephora member who was eager to get off the phone with me as soon as possible for help with finding the reservation tab since she wouldn't just make the reservation and put it in their books. Eventually she was able to navigate me to the right spot and I booked my appointment. Note: make sure to book at least 24 hours in advance and if you're told that they only accept appointments in person, ask to speak to someone else as this is definitely not the case. I've now interacted with a good number of the employees here and would say that 80% of them are welcoming and patient. The woman who prepped my skin was awesome. She was really knowledge about skin care and explained everything to me as she put it on. This included toner, moisturizer, primer and eye cream. She explained how different products would interact with my skin based on my skin type and why each one was important. She didn't wear any foundation herself and she had great skin. From here I began working with Jennifer who was to do the actual makeover. I explained that I wanted a natural glam look and she definitely delivered. She's absolutely amazing at contouring. All the artists walking by would stop in their tracks to admire her skills and work. From what I gathered, each artist has his or her own individual makeup strengths and contouring and face makeup was definitely Jennifer's while the woman who did my skin prep knew absolutely nothing about foundation or bronzers. I appreciated that I was set up with the appropriate people to enhance my features. I was really pleased with the job that Jennifer did. She didn't leave me every once in a while to work with another client like artists at other makeup stores have done countless times. She gave me her full and undivided attention and provided excellent customer service and care. She took the time to explain each product to me and allowed me to take pictures of everything she used so that I can come back and get them when I'm ready. This will definitely become my go-to Sephora. Parking is easy too. They have a parking lot off of Bear that is connected to the entrance of the West Wing of the mall and close to Sephora. read more

Came to this specific Sephora location due to the lower volume of traffic on this side of South Coast Plaza. I had just recently gone to the Sephora next to Bloomies inside the main mall and it was a madhouse. In order to avoid the same fiasco again, this time I made the right decision to visit this one. It's a tad smaller than their main location, but they had everything I needed. I came in with the intention of purchasing a gift for my mom. Came into the store, found what I needed and checked out. It was an overall decent experience except for the fact that the cashier I got was an absolute sweetheart! She was engaging and very sweet throughout the whole checkout process. Cool new location. Bigger store, new product, but definitely feels really sales-y now. I had a Givenchy sales rep look for me multiple times to sell me more of the products he thought was good for me. I shared that I wanted a lower price point and I felt uncomfortable and pressured. I thought he was definitely a little too pushy. It's interactions like this that fuel returns and buyers remorse. Sephora's cashier, Dulce, made my experience a positive one before I left though. I love this store, I just hope the quality of the personal interactions doesn't get compromised due to their expansion. This review is about the 45 minute make over that you get when you become a VIB. The store itself is awesome. It's very quiet and not as hectic as the one on Bristol Street. There aren't many girls around to help you though and they don't carry all that Bristol street does. So bring a bag of patience with you if you go into the store and need advise. Now for the make over. I asked the girl (wont mention her name) specifically about helping me to create shadows on my face and helping me creating a good eyeliner cat eye. I have one eye where my lid is starting to hang a bit so it's hard for me to draw good lines on that lid. I also told her she could do whatever she wanted with eye shadow, hoping she would do something really different. I'm 34 years old but have short hair that I wear up and so I can get away with heavy make ups. The girl was a sweetheart but she put the most basic colors on my eyes. The browns that I always use myself. She advised a foundation that was WAY lighter than my own skin tone and even my husband saw that instantly (men don't have an eye for that kinda stuff) so that was a sign to me how far from my own skin tone that foundation was. She didn't use any concealer, didn't make shadows on my face. She did use blusher and bronzer in a way I haven't used it yet so learned that. She asked me what I used for my eyebrows so I told her I used make up forever aqua brow gel. She put it on one brow and then asked me if there was anything else she could help me with. I had to ask her to finish her work, she would have let me leave the store with 1 brow done!?!?! Again, she was a sweetheart but I felt really uncomfortable when I left the store. My eyeliner wasn't filled in fully, my eyebrows weren't filled equally and I had a foundation on my face that was too light and corrected with lots of bronzer. We went home straight after that, I removed her make up and put back on my own. Hubby liked it better so did I. This is the first time I have had a make up done at Sephora and I have to say I didn't expect this result at all. I thought they would beat MAC with their make overs but I personally feel that MAC does a better job at this and I've had several done by MAC this past year. read more

Had the honor of getting my make up done by Taylor. Taylor is on the crystal court Sephora. It was spur the moment thing. Some of the services that Sephora offers that I didn't know of. Taylor was very knowledge and explained things well. If I had any questions, she would answer my questions and educated me. She made me feel so comfortable, that it felt like she was a long time friend. When I get my make up done, I usually have a so so experience but I really enjoyed my experience there. I give my experience today 5 stars!! I work in the mall and the nearest Sephora is the one in SCP, but unfortunately it's always busy and I sometimes feel the girls at that store don't offer help unless you look for it. Anyways, I stopped in because I wanted a face toner. I had one in specific in mind. So I made my way to the skin care section and right away one of the girls asked if I needed help. She right away gave me suggestions since the Toner I wanted was sold out. But I can tell she was assisting another customer and somehow drifted off. And then I was approached by Jennifer. Let me just say, she made my Sephora visit worth 5 stars. Right away, she was bubbly, informative and genuine. Anyway, I went in open minded and was greeted by Emily, a beauty rep for Josie Maran brand- and an absolute doll. She heard me out about my sob story and listened to what I was looking for in a foundation and how I usually mix mine with a moisturizer. She was so knowledgable and not only helped me find the perfect foundation but also helped mind a powder, concealer, brow pomade, brushes, and blush. It's the secret Sephora in SCP. No one is ever in here, and the selection is neat and clean, not all tossed up in a huge mess like on the other side of the street. Very friendly and helpful sales staff here- you get the impression that they come to this store from the mall to take a breather and decompress. Huge perfume selection in the back, not all crammed up against the walls like normal. He recommended the too faced pressed powder over the oxygen wow which works wonders because of the Amazonian clay! I have two experiences that I'm going to comment on. I came here for a class on makeup which had been given to me as a gift from a relative. Ms. Rebekka attended me and I was so happy with the result. I walked out with a lovely look and a solid base for what makeup suited me and my style as well as general tips. I returned to get my makeup done for a birthday party and I loved the outcome. I was attended to by Ms. Rachel (according to the e-receipt) I got exactly what I asked for, a not-too-heavy or dramatic look that still stood out and make me feel super pretty. I got some goodies with the 50 dollar minimum purchase (which isn't as expensive as I had thought tbh). Her help with applying false eyelashes was super helpful as I had no idea how to do so. I usually love coming to this location (I'm a regular customer)but today was the last time. When I asked for a color match for foundation they told me it would be a ten minute wait. I think I waited less. A super nice girl approached me and she asked another woman if she needed help first. The woman said no and to help me. So we had a great time figuring out my summer foundation. It was at the end that I realized the customer service in this store has really dropped when I overheard the male manager telling the girl who helped me that she was supposed to have helped the other customer first. And made her apologize for it. I was so surprised at the rudeness. I'm still in the store! And mind you, the other woman that was being helped bought nothing!!! I'm a vib rougue member but I don't usually use my free makeovers. I wanted to look nice for a birthday so I came in to do my makeup. Jennifer was extremely sweet and helpful. Her personality is down to earth and she definitely knows what she's doing. She was able to replicate the picture I brought in and made it adjusted to what I wanted. I've done makeovers before at sephora but this has been by far my favorite. Other makeup artists I've been to previously hasn't delivered what Jennifer has nor go beyond to make the client feel comfortable. Jennifer is a great listener, has a fun attitude, and makes you look great! I will definitely go to her again for makeovers. read more

The staff here is always so friendly. I do most of my purchases online (I hate store crowds) but I usually come here to do any returns on items I didn't like because they're always so nice and helpful about it. Today, I was trying to return a $25 item and it was coming up as $7 for some reason. The manager (I think her name was Amity) came over and tried to fix the ordeal and processed the return for me. I then realized on my way out that she accidentally shorted me $6 because she thought I had a 20% off coupon applied to it. I went back to explain the mistake and she happily fixed it without giving me any attitude for the inconvenience. I definitely would recommend my friends to come here instead of the other Sephoras I've been to thanks to their staff alone. A good Sephora. Jordanne made me several perfume samples and was really friendly and cordial about it. She offered without me even asking. I was just browsing the rollerballs and sampling some testers at one of the perfume walls and she came over and I asked her if she could tell me where D&G was. She asked which one I was looking for and I told her. She then asked which specifically I was looking for and I said I like all of them. She then offered to make samples of all three types. She made me the samples and gave them to me then had me log in into my Sephora account on the big screen in the perfume section and we added the perfumes to my profile. I added one more on my own and she even offered to make a sample of that fragrance too. The employees on the other parts of the floor were friendly and helpful too. This is a good Sephora but apparently much smaller than the other south coast plaza one. This location does not have a section for Buxom but I liked the location anyway and its layout as well as its selection of make up brands and perfumes too. Will return! read more

I am not a big makeup gal because it is very - scratch that, extremely hard for me to understand and execute makeup techniques successfully. I honestly feel like I have no idea of what the heck I am doing. In addition, most makeup tutorials are catered to the majority of double eyelid-ers whereas I am a monolid. Yet I am a beauty insider because hey, why not rack up points here and there and also get a free birthday gift when the time comes! I attend my first beauty class with Sephora on Sunday for "correct and conceal." After getting checked in and putting on our name tags, we all took a seat where our instructors and model introduced themselves. They gave us some under eye masks to put on and depuff our early morning faces as they began the lesson (awesome!). Throughout the lesson, we were able to ask questions and also take down notes on the paper they had give us with the step by step instructions they were performing. After the lesson was over, we were able to try the techniques out on ourselves by ourselves at a makeup station that was filled with all the products that were used, brushes, cleaning essentials and mirrors. If we had any questions whatsoever, there was someone to help us out and refine our techniques. Once we felt comfortable enough, we also got one-on-one shopping advice with an employee. I really enjoyed this class and will definitely be back to try out and learn everything else they offer. I mean, why not? IT'S FREE!
