I arrived only about three minutes late, yet I ended up waiting nearly an hour before anyone started my service. Once I was finally attended to, I was immediately handed the color book and rushed to choose a color, making the entire experience feel stressful instead of relaxing. The service itself felt rushed from beginning to end, and unfortunately, the quality reflected that. I was charged $108, wasn't given a receipt, and left wondering what I had actually paid for. The final result did not meet my expectations. I understand that businesses get busy and that employees have schedules to keep. However, if there isn't enough time to provide proper service, it's better to be honest and say there is no availability rather than have a customer come in, wait for nearly an hour, and then feel pressured through the appointment. A trip to the nail salon should leave you feeling relaxed and happy. Instead, I left feeling stressed, rushed, and disappointed. Between the lack of communication, feeling pressured throughout the appointment, the poor-quality service, and the price, this was an experience I won't be repeating. Thank you anyway.

From the moment I sat down I was shown a book to pick out the color I want instead of having to choose one from the shelf of all the polishes. I only saw one sparkle color, so I asked if they had anymore glitters, and they did! I chose pink sparkle to match my purse and outfits I have been wearing lately. The whole process was so easy and quick, and the lady who did my nails was so nice. Towards the end of my appointment to my surprise, an employee from the coffee/ juice place next door came in and said they had extra drinks so I also got a free coffee! I paid first and tipped first before I got my nails done so that I didn't have to touch anything after and risk messing up the polish, but the gel dried so quickly I don't even think it was necessary to do that!

However, the lady who did my hands cut one of my fingers to the point of bleeding and left a shallow cut on another while filing my side walls. The other side walls are all quite sore as she filed them all pretty far. The hard gel on at least one of my nails did not go to the end of my nail bed and I pointed this out (it looked like the filing had actually grooved down past where the hard gel had been and into my natural nail on top). She kept saying "it's fine. I'll just add more of the other gel later." I asked if it would grow out wonky or lift and she said "no, it'll be fine." She ended up added builder gel to that specific nail and then gobbed on the color gel pretty thick at the base of that nail. From far away they look cute but if I look closely the quality just isn't great. When I paid, the lady charging me asked "you don't want to leave a tip for your techs?" So I explained again what had happened to her and said I'd happily leave one for the lady who did my pedicure but not for my nails and as I really was not happy with how they turned out. She gave me the Venmo of the pedicure lady and said she was sorry and would talk to the other girl. Over all I felt everyone was quite dismissive as I expressed to both the lady while she was doing my hands and the one ringing me up that I wasn't with them but no one interested in doing much to fix it.

At my first appointment, I showed a reference photo of exactly what I wanted. The technician never asked me what shape or length I wanted, and I ended up with nails that were completely different from the reference photo. I brought up my concerns that same day, but I was told the manager wasn't there and that there was nothing the staff could do at the time. The next time I came in, I explained everything to the manager. She told me they would correct my nails and make sure I was happy, so I agreed to have them redone. Based on that conversation, I believed they were going to make the situation right. Had I been told beforehand that there would be no adjustment whatsoever for correcting the previous service, I would have simply gone somewhere else. After my nails were redone, no price adjustment was made. On top of that, I noticed I was being overcharged by an additional $10 based on the price of the services I received. When I tried to address everything with the manager, she told me I should have complained on the day of my original appointment and that there was nothing she could do. I explained that I did complain that day, but her employees told me the manager wasn't there. At that point, I stopped disputing the original service and tried to explain that I would pay what they were asking, but that the bill for this visit was still $10 higher than it should have been. Unfortunately, there seemed to be a significant communication disconnect, and I ultimately paid the amount they requested and left. What bothers me most isn't simply that I didn't like my original nails. Mistakes and misunderstandings happen. It's how the situation was handled afterward. I brought up the problem immediately, returned after being told they would correct it and make me happy, and then was later told I should have said something on the original day when I had already done exactly that. I would have appreciated clear communication from the beginning. If I had known that their idea of "fixing" the situation meant I would still be responsible for the full cost with no adjustment, I would have taken my business elsewhere. The additional $10 overcharge on the second visit only made an already frustrating experience worse.

I love this spot so much! I've recommended several of my close friends and decided it was about time I do a review! First of all, the decor and style of this place puts me at ease immediately. It's very well designed, very clean and very calming. The ladies that work the front desk are always kind and inviting. Several of the nail tech's here I've been seeing for years! They have literally the best of the best of Orange County nail techs here. Recently I've been seeing Kim. She is so professional. She keeps my gelX nail sizes on record to make our visits swift. My experience at Keratin Lab left much to be desired. Not only did they rush through appointments and charge exorbitant prices, but they also displayed a disappointing lack of flexibility and understanding. Attempting to cancel my appointment 23 hours in advance resulted in a hefty 50% charge, which seemed excessive given the circumstances. Additionally, the process of booking an appointment was needlessly cumbersome. While I understand the premium location in Newport Beach, I expected better customer service and flexibility, especially considering the high prices. Overall, my interaction with the staff left me with a sour impression, warranting a one-star rating. read more

This salon is relaxing and beautiful the moment you walk inside. The owner Jolene does my nails. She is so incredible that I have her pick my nail art for me every time I come in and she never disappoints! People constantly stop me to compliment me on my nails. The salon environment has the best vibe. I have been a client since they opened. I look forward to my appointments and have made friends with the manicurists and clients. I have been a client at Keratin Lab since they opened 5 years ago. Their appointments are consistently on time. The receptionists are hospitable and helpful. The salon is well appointed, very clean, and the selection of polish brands and colors is truly amazing. I have a standing appointment with Kay every 3 weeks, and always looking forward to my appointment. She works very efficiently, and the results of her manicures are excellent. I have been going to Keratin Lab for at least a year now and it is always an exceptional experience! The staff is kind and conversational with customers. They do not use the electric drill on bare nails and I feel my nails are extra healthy due to this- way healthier than any other gel nail manicures I have had anywhere else. I like that they only take appointments as this means the nail tech can take her time on my nails and I don't feel rushed. The place is always clean and has beautiful natural light! By far the best nail salon I have ever been to. It is worth the price 100%. I go to Chicky for my nails and she has done beautifully every time! My nails have never been this strong. I even tried gel-x for the first time a few months ago and loved it! I can't have designs on my nails for work, but even just the plain color is done to perfection! I brought in inspo pics and she took it a level up. She listens and does an absolute amazing job with art and has soooo many options! I have been looking everywhere for a solid nail studio and this is THEE spot. I can't wait to be back for all my holiday nails! Also, the price is extremely affordable compared to most places that offer this kind of nail art!!!
