This cute little salon is tucked away in the corner of a shopping plaza in CM (look for i heart pancakes- same shopping plaza). SO happy I found this place- such a gem. I Always come here to see my girl, Demi Dugmore! she is very talented and overall a a lovely person. I started seeing her for pedicures as I am VERY particular with the polish that is used on my nails and toes. She uses only the best product, and it happens to be the one I will only use, presto cal gel from JAPAN. I was stoked to find her as there aren't many nail techs who offer presto pedicures as it is a bit pricey for some. FYI: i wouldn't recommend Going anywhere else for cal gel as most people do not know how to apply it. Demi CAN and will give you the perfect presto pedi. (I've made the mistake of going to a salon the at allegedly could apply it properly (one time- &never again.) Anyhow, I've been going to her for quite some time, and I WILL admit (even though it's a bit embarrassing), my pedi with Demi has lasted for well over 2 MONTHS (I was busy- & try not to do that, haha). & there was NO CHIPPING. Demi is also such a creative and is amazing when it comes to designs. I trust her completely, and will not go to anyone else. If you're looking for a first class pedi experience, look no further. I have been a regular customer for almost a year now. I get a classic pedicure and a gel manicure every 3-4 weeks with Chloe, she is awesome! I always walk-in with a design I saw on Pinterest and she takes the time to find the exact color from the photo. The salon is elegant, feel-good atmosphere, smells good, it's clean, comfy, and beautiful. They offer great customer service, it's easy to make an appointment online, everyone is professional and kind, and my nails always look amazing. The packages are reasonably priced especially for the overall quality in nails and the great experience you will receive. The salon is located in a nice area in Costa Mesa and there is always parking in the parking lot. Recommendations: Book appointments 1 month in advance. If you need to book a quick appointment then you can call to see if any last minute appointments become available (they usually do). Bring a change of leggings that easily roll up to your knees for the pedicure. Leave a bit early to account for traffic in the Costa Mesa area so you arrive on time and can fully enjoy the experience. read more

I love ALL the ladies at Keratin Lab! Not much of a yelp reviewer, but this place is such a hidden gem in Costa Mesa/OC that I needed to make a review. My sister was has cute nails, and for my birthday last year she treated me to a nails day. I have been coming since FROM THE IE, minimum 2+ hours of commute round trip to see these ladies. I have gotten my nails done by Justine (moved to TN), Van, and Kelly, but really all the ladies do such amazing work. They take your idea/vision and execute. The quality of their work and the product these use has my gel manis lasting from 3-4 weeks sometimes, pedis let's not say lol even longer. I think my sister and the ladies at Keratin. I've been going to Keratin Lab since it opened, and the owner, Jolene, since before the salon opened. (About 3.5 years.) I've gone to a LOT of different nail salons, but ultimately Jolene and her team are the only people I trust. My nails not only always look incredible, but they are also healthy. The day I got engaged someone said "she must have known this was coming, because her nails look so great," and I said "Jolene always makes sure my nails look great." From my bridal shower to my bachelorette to my wedding day and all the celebrations + regular life in between, I know the ladies at Keratin lab don't just care about my nails, but they care about me! Keratin lab only uses high quality products and they care about your nails staying healthy and strong. My nails underneath my gel are never yellow or brittle. The other thing that is extremely notable is that in 3.5 years of seeing Jolene, my nails have never chipped or peeled in between appointments. It LASTS. I'd rather spend the extra $ to know I'm going to be well taken care of and that my nails are going to be healthy. This is absolutely the best salon in the OC. The owner, Jolene, is very kind and cares a great deal about her salon, and her employees and it shows! Every tool is sterilized and you can see them go into the machine and when the girls open a new pack for each client. The quality of work by each nail tech is superb. Details.. .. Turned to Yelp in search of a new regular nail place since my nail person (whom I've been going to for almost 8-9 years) moved to TX. When I found this place & saw how beautifully unique the decor was compared to your average/standard nail salon, I knew I had to try it out. .. I've been twice so far. First time I did an express pedi w. Tammy & the second time I did a gel mani + express pedi w. Sammie. prOs.. .. The space is as cute as the photos make it out to be. Oversized lounge chairs instead of your usual spa/massage chair for pedis & a long communal marble table for manis. .. They waiting area also has comfy seating & a little candy/beverage station. .. The techs are nice & very punctual. I arrived a few minutes early both times & they saw me almost exactly at my appt time. .. There is an enormous selection of polish colors to choose from. .. Sammie did a great job shaping my nails. cOns.. .. On that note, while there is a huge selection of color, the polish wall is a smidge disorganized. I feel like it'd be easier for a customer to select a color if they were more color coded since their color pallet nails were also a bit disorganized & overwhelming. .. Real Rating: 4.5 Keratin Lab is a good, clean nail salon. It is slightly over priced (even for Newport Beach) and I think it's really great for nail art/design and specialty nails like gel-x. I do not think it's great for the person looking for an average mani/pedi. I made an appointment for a gold level pedicure but with... regular polish. It was clear that while regular polish is OK, the preference is absolutely gel and they count on requests like nail art. The pros: clean, on-time, large selection of colors, very organized check-in and payment process. Potential cons: very busy (no walk in option), slightly overpriced for the area, no ability to change services or do add ons because the schedules are so packed. read more

Although this salon is located an hour away from my home, I decided to make an appointment and see what they can do in December of 2022. I have never been someone to really care about my nails. Being a hairstylist, it has always felt like a chore when my nails would just chip a week later anyways. I go three to four weeks now that I have been coming here! They use a type of gel I have never seen before and the colors are so fresh and current! I feel like I used to take forever to even pick colors at other salons because they just weren't that great... The owner Jolene has always gone above and beyond to keep the salon fresh too! She literally just did a whole revamp of the salon in January when I would still have considered it a newer spot. I'm obsessed with the interior! I literally had to ask her where some of their pieces were bought ( like her lamp) because I would loooove to have them in my home. Okay let's move onto the snack bar. There is a "help yourself" plethora of snacks and drinks when you walk into the salon. Having just been pregnant, I would always be starving and would literally be able to just grab some pringles or cheezits... like cmon, what other salon has this!? There's also tea, coffee, water and more that you can help yourself too or just ask the front desk for. The last thing I have to say is that being in the industry, I really notice cleanliness. They have this crazy machine that they put all of their tools in to clean. They could just use the standard barbacide, but I truly believe they are setting the new standard for nail salon hygiene. Do NOT book here! I booked a deluxe pedicure and a gel manicure online and gave my credit card to hold the appointment. I had a plumbing emergency and was not able to make the manicure. I called well in advance to advise. I offered to still make the pedicure and push back the manicure which they could not accommodate. I offered to book the manicure the next day instead. I was told there would be a $25 cxl fee which was NOT flexible- even if I had been in a car accident, per Princess (2nd day in job). Jolene the manager/owner? would NOT even take my call to discuss. I get cxl policies, but emergencies happen. Not a way to impress a new client looking for a new nail salon. Buyer beware! read more

She not only recreates inspo photos I bring in, she makes them her own. Picking better colors here and there and adding detail where she sees fit. I love her artistic eye and keen sense for color. The nail techs are amazing and super professional, you can tell they take pride in their work and specialize in all sorts of designs! Wow I am truly shocked about the negative customer experience I just had. I have been going to Keratin Lab for over a year, and have referred at least 5 friends to become regulars there as well. I came here because it's a good manicure and nice to have a guaranteed appointment time. However, I've always been so annoyed by how rude the owner is. She constantly speaks negatively about her clients, usually right after they leave. Really makes you wonder what she says about you as soon as you get up. Her employees seem over worked and rushed, and I really hand it to them that they do such a good job despite the environment. Many of them have told me they don't get breaks or time for lunch. I had an appointment at 12 today before heading out of town tomorrow morning. My nanny cancelled on me with no notice after testing positive for COVID. I have a toddler at home that would not do well at the salon while my nails are getting done. Instead of being understanding and seeing the likely thousands of dollars I've spent (and would spend in the future), still charged me a no show fee. So much for loyalty and grace for a regular customer, especially one with a young child at home. I am beyond disappointed and will not be returning, and will be sure to tell the many people I have referred to Keratin Lab as well. read more

omg this place is amazing!! i love their extensive variety of colors. i found a nail color/ design on their yelp and it was nailed perfectly. girl doing my nail was very nice and quiet never told me her name. i wanted the nail design on all my nails but didnt want to pay $85 for a gel manicure. this place is deffinitely expensive for costa mesa. i paid $65 for a gel manicure. wtf. they have snacks and candy on a table. the one thing that i didnt like is they book up too quick. my work schedule is nuts. plus i was going out of town so i didnt have much options. i told the girl on the phone nevermind and she worked me into the schedule. place is small and it seemed like the regulars are out here. ill deffinitely come back ill have to sell my left kidney to he able to afford it but ill come back :D read more

I came here for my bridal nails, and Kim did an amazing job! I got white gel nails with chrome on top (the Hailey Bieber nail trend) and it was perfect. The shaping was exactly what I wanted, and nails were smooth and not lumpy at all. Best of all, it's been 3 weeks now and they still look flawless! I went on our mini moon right after the wedding for a week, where we did scuba diving and all sorts of water activities in the ocean -- these nails lasted through it all. Normally, my gel nails would have lifted by now, but my nails still look amazing minus my natural nails growing out by now.
