I've been coming here since April 30, 2025, and I honestly can't say enough good things. I first came in with active acne, dark marks, and scarring, and from the beginning I felt genuinely cared for. Every provider here is wonderful I don't recommend one specific doctor because they are all amazing. My treatment plan was very thorough and thoughtful. We started with oral medications, skincare routines, and facials, and my doctor took the time to try different oral options to see what worked best for my skin instead of rushing the process. Once my acne was under control, I moved on to laser treatments to help with scarring and pigmentation, and the improvement has been life changing. This place truly feels like a second home. Every single provider I've seen has been kind, patient, and knowledgeable, and you can tell they genuinely want the best results for their patients. I also want to give a special shoutout to Marisol at the front desk, she is honestly the reason I love coming in. She is so patient, welcoming, and kind, and she always makes my day better the moment I walk in. Little things like that matter so much. They even have snacks and drinks, which just adds to how comfortable and welcoming the environment feels. I've attached my before and after photos because the results speak for themselves. The front desk experience was extremely disappointing. My first visit to this clinic was actually very positive. My insurance declined the payment at the time, and Dr. James kindly gave me a discount to help me out. That left such a good impression on me that I continued coming back afterward. Even when I previously had an allergic reaction to medication prescribed here, I chose not to complain because I trusted this clinic. So when my lips suddenly became swollen this time, this clinic was still the first place I came to. Unfortunately, this experience felt completely different. The front desk staff simply kept repeating that I had to pay $150 and made no effort to communicate my situation to Dr. James. Ironically, when I explained my insurance situation to the doctor directly, he did try to check for me. After my surgery, I still had questions about the procedure itself and wanted to briefly speak with the doctor again, but the front desk just told me there would be post-care later. I understand doctors are busy, and I was completely willing to wait. I had just undergone a small surgery, asking to briefly speak with my doctor should not feel like asking for a special privilege. Her tone makes me feel like I need her approval and she is the security to guard the doctor. All of these was not an issue when I was in the DTLA location, the doctor always follow-up a little bit when I check out and both the cashier and front desk are friendly. Costa Mesa and DTLA locations gave me completely different experiences. After being a customer for years, what disappointed me most was that the attitude only became nicer after I expressed how upset I was. Why I should even have to argue with her when my lip is still numb? If the front desk staff's role is mainly financial and they do not have basic people skills, then they should not be in a front desk position at a medical clinic. A professional front desk staff member should at least show some level of care and empathy toward patients, especially patients who just underwent a small surgery and are already stressed or uncomfortable. read more

I don't know what to say - it almost feels wrong leaving a 3 star review for a business that's flooded with 5 stars straight across the board, but unfortunately, I feel like I need to share my experience. Booking the appointment was easy and simple. I love the convenience of not having to get on the phone with anyone, and just booking directly on their website. Walking in, the facility is clean and absolutely beautiful - you want to be there. I'm a cash paying client coming for a medical visit - I was told the consultation fee is $170 when on their website they've listed $105 for medical and $170 for cosmetic. After bringing it up to her attention, the front desk agent apologized and said she didn't know what I was talking about, proceeded to ask me if I still wanted to go through with the appointment. I agreed to move forward. After showing them their own website page, they spoke to management and honored the $105 fee. Which was appreciated, but still seemed a little questionable considering how their website advertises one thing but they charge something else upon check in. Trying not to let this deter me, I waited patiently for my appointment which was supposed to be at 4:10. I got called in at 4:22 and didn't actually get seen by the PA-C til 4:45 (and they close at 5) JinLi was professional, knowledgable, and really easy to speak to. She listened to my concerns and offered a variety of treatments options. The appointment did seem a little rushed though - I don't know if it was because they were closing or I was asking too many questions, but something felt off. JinLi and her attendant told me my prescriptions would be sent to the pharmacy, the lab order would also be sent in, packed me a bag of samples and sent me on my way. The next day (today), I'm trying to contact them because no lab order or prescriptions were sent in, and getting in touch with them has been just repeated automated messages of "we'll get back to you" JinLi is the reason this place even gets 3 stars from me and the reason I would consider returning. read more

Love that I was able to make an appointment online without having to pick up the phone. The patient onboarding process was very streamlined and forms are via touchpad. The facility is clean, bright, beautiful, and large enough that it will never seem crowded. It's almost a month since my procedure to remove my sebaceous hyperplasia and I am so happy about the results. It's pretty much gone. I had several removed which have healed. Found this place through Zocdoc because of my Eczema that was getting out of hand. Turned out to be one of the best decisions I've ever made!!! Dr. Jinli was a huge life saver and help with all my issues. She answered all of my questions thoroughly and was able to get rid of my eczema in a matter of days. Also gave me tons of useful advice and free samples, if I ever had any skin condition, she's the one I'd go to any day! I am so happy I found Metropolis Dermatology! The office is extremely nice and when I met JinLi she made me feel very comfortable and welcomed right away. I have been having skin issues for some time now and recently experiencing a lot of hormonal breakouts. JinLi is SO knowledgeable and went over different causes for the breakouts and how to best tackle it. I went in to my appointment stressed about my skin but left feeling like we had a good plan of action.
