    Custom rice and tofu bowl
    April S.

Great place! I had been wanting to try the past few times i was in DC for a concert but it was a bit inconvenient at the time. If you havent been here before, think chipotle but with korean food. This time, it was right next to the venue. Of coarse, when i arrived, the place was packed with other concert goers, but the staff handled the crowd very well and the wait time wasnt too bad. I opted for the custom bowl with purple rice, (my fave), kimchi, corn, radish, and tofu. Topped it off with the ginger carrot sauce and seaweed. They even had gluten free cookies so i definitely got one of those.

One of my favorite Korean fusion spots opened up in the new'ish across the bridge "Downtown S.E." by The Navy Yard (I just made that up). I HAD to go!! Let me show you what they're hittin ON! . Where I am: @Seoulspice . Location Reviewed: 1251 First St., S.E. Washington D.C. . Menu Includes: Rice Bowls, Gimbap/Korrito (Korean style burrito), Noodle Bowls (Japche- gluten free sweet potato starch noodles), Salad Bowls, Beef (Bulgogi), Chicken (Dak), Spicy Pork (Jeyuk), Tofu (Dubu), Corn, Cucumbers, Egg, Carrots, Korean Radish, Kale Slaw, Fire Powder spice, juices & MORE!! . Items Reviewed: Their Korrito (a burrito wrapped in seaweed with chicken, corn, sprouts, kale, cilantro, crispy garlic, & ginger carrot sauce $8.99). STAMP!! Juicy chicken, with ingredients that blended perfectly because YOU choose them!! STAMP that carrot sauce too!! Their Noodle Bowl (with Japche noodles, bulgogi, kimchi, kale, corn, green onions, & fire dusted). STAMP!! That bulgogi was super tender, not fatty, those noodles were cooked to perfection!! Their Rice Bowl (with purple rice, spicy pork, kale, cucumber, carrots-$8.99, & a ginger sesame soft boiled egg-$2.49). STAMP!! Hot edible tender spicy pork, tasty rice, & well blended ingredients. I don't have a taste for the egg, but I know many do...personal preference, no judgement. Their House-made Kale Apple juice ($3.49). STAMP!! Refreshing, palate cleansing goodness!! New Navy Yard location! Long awaited, my favorite Korean food in DC!!!
    Traci N.

SO thankful a SEOULSPICE opened up in the Navy Yard area! This is my favorite lunch food in DC and I'm usually running to NOMA or ordering in, but the SE location is so convenient for when I'm in that neighborhood. There is metered parking out front. It's a busy area but that also means that you'll find a place to park as people are always coming and going, if you're coming by car. Once you get inside this location you'll be greeted by a vibrant baseball-themed mural (because: next to the ballpark!) and lots of seating. There are built in outlets in the center tables so if you are bringing your laptop or need to charge your phone, this SEOULSPICE is ready for you. The FOOD. This is why I'm obsessed with every SEOULSPICE. It's Korean comfort food, modernized as "korrito" (a play on gimbap), "noodles" (japchae), and "rice bowls" (bibimbap). I alternate between all three of these. Whatever I get, it usually has the tofu and *always* The Egg. The Egg is consistently marinated to perfection, soft-cooked, and goes with everything on the menu. Also worth nothing: the entire menu is gluten-free. I'm not g-f but for those that are can trust that there is zero gluten here. Including the desserts.

    Spicy Pork bowl with egg

We ordered online and picked up at the store. Inside you could tell it was new and fresh. It was easy to pick up and our food was ready at the register. We both had customized our bowls; one had spicy pork and added an egg (extra $) and the other was bulgogi. It was nice to be able to pick from many different sides. Each of the sides we selected were good. The egg was underwhelming and was placed whole into the bowl. We thought it was going to be sliced in half, like their promo photos. Bulgogi (bbq beef) was ok, the spicy pork had more flavor and we enjoyed that more. The bowls ended up around $15, which is about the same as similar bowls you can get in the area.

I was in the area and decided to grab some lunch. I'm glad I decided to come here. The customer service was a 10 as well as the food. I built my bowl and everything I had was delicious. I wish they offered more outdoor seating for the warmer months; however, there is plenty of indoor space and eating. I'll most definitely be back!

usually I don't try something again after a lame (bland) first experience but i am out here trying to be a better person (one step a time folks) so hello - on the bottom we have the Seoul Train with their godly spicy mayo. the chewy japchae noodles were slippery little buggers so hard to eat but a super fun texture. bulgogi was tender and salty and went well with the crisp vegetables - I went with a make your own on the salad base. I expected just ...leaves...but it was roasted vegetables in a seasame marinade. so so good and made the whole bowl moist so i approve - chicken was super delicious, soft warm and marinated perfectly. lots of flatter from the chicken and base so didn't matter how light their "ginger carrot sauce" serving was, so I survived that L - not a ton of topping options (or options in general), kale slaw added a sweet touch to the salty heavy flavor profile. kimchi is always a win, this one is quite mild so good for those who don't eat it plain like me ha. - overall a good sorta healthy feeling option that adds to the plethora of chipotle- style -fast casual - ethnic - cuisines in DC. not like great though, ya know? chipotle energy ....ya know? - one thing though! wonderful, kind, helpful, and energetic workers! great service for sure

Tried this place after receiving a coupon in the mail, and generally enjoyed it. I think this is a solid lunch option, mid work, something quick. It's quick and easy, the place is very clean, and the employees are great. As with a lot of these places, I think the bowl is as good as your choices. I like the purple rice as a base (prefer it over the noodles which I think are a bit bland and greasy), Tofu, Kimchi was good but J think I needed a bit more flavor. I would try this again and add one more sauce maybe and an egg. I think overall, this is a unique build it yourself food option that feels healthier than a lot of the other options!

Chicken, steak, kimchi , kale , noodles

Everything was 10/10 the service was top notch , WILL BE BACK . Food 10/10, it was my first time so they let me sample some things and help and suggested things the whole way . I love them

I visited on a Friday around 6:30 PM and sat at the bar to catch the end of happy hour (Mon-Sun 5-7 PM). The bar was empty at the time, but a few other people showed up later. The dining room had a handful of tables occupied. In short, easy to get a seat. Drinks were good. I like the Somaek ($6) which is a small beer and a shot of soju. Beer ($7) was beer. We got some beef and pork mandu (dumplings) that were pretty good. 6 pieces for $10 on HH. We got two entrees, the Ddukbokgi ($28) and Yukgaejang ($29), which came with four banchan. Ddukbokgi is chewy rice cakes, gochujang, onion, and bulgogi. We thought it was only ok -- we've had better, including at Mandu in the past. Yukgaejang was a new dish for me. The menu described it as a "spicy beef stew, brisket, noodles, shiitake, bean sprouts, and egg." I expected the brisket to be sliced and recognizably brisket, but it was pulled -- it looked and tasted more like pulled pork. The dish also didn't have any noodles in it. I didn't like it. The banchan was seaweed, bean sprouts, kimchi, and cucumbers. It was okay. Service at the bar was fine.

I made RSVP for this Korean restaurant on a Sunday evening...and it was bustling!…read more Despite RSVP for the main room, we got seated in an extended part of the room (more like an indoor patio?)...so frankly, the ambiance was a bit off for me. So was the overhead music. Guess I expected a more authentic Korean experience, but the place was more or less an Americanized Korean bistro. Still, the foods seemed authentic! We ordered a few things to share... Mandu, Dolsot Bibimbap, and this Ssam Board. For drinks, my husband got some beer (?), and I got this fruity cocktail (??). First, the positives! The Mandu was really, really good...and quite meaty! The Dolsot Bibimbap was good in that it came with a generous load of fresh veggies. Now the problems. The Bulgogi in the Dolsot Bibimbap was problematic. It was a bit too fatty...and too chunky...and just hard to eat. It was also a bit bland! They should have cut it up a bit...or provided us with proper cutlery, like a fork and a knife! This is a pet peeve of mine...but nowadays, hardly any restaurant gives you the full set of cutlery. Just fork, or just chopsticks!! Then the Ssam Board. While it looked luscious, I personally had a problem with the meat. While I love Galbi, cuts of Galbi was all-out rare. The waiter didn't even ask for our preference, by the way. If I knew it'd be prepared that red, I would have ordered something else. If it was medium-rare, for instance, I might have liked this dish. My husband prefers a much more rare cut of meat than me, yet even he thought this was too red. Also, I expected something more than raddish for sides. Not sure if this "Board" was worth $42. We also tried this Black Sesame Ice Cream dessert. I loved the flavor...but nothing too special. Service was a bit off as well. While friendly at our table, our waiter wasn't too attentive...especially in the beginning. If he stopped by our table earlier, I might have gotten them to bring back the Ssam Board to cook the meat a bit more. Frankly, I was underwhelmed with the foods, the presentation, even the service. Overall, there were just too many things amiss (or just underwhelming??)...so much so that I doubt I'll pick this place again.

For $45 per person, the all-you-can-eat experience feels like a really solid deal considering how many protein options and side dishes you get. They start you off with a variety of banchan (side dishes), including a salad with this super tasty dressing that had the perfect little spicy kick. For the BBQ, we kicked things off with the spicy bulgogi and butter garlic shrimp, while the others tried the pork belly (I don't eat pork). Later we ordered the steak, spicy brisket, and grilled squid, which were all delicious. The spicy brisket especially was a standout for me. The guys also ordered two rounds of fried dumplings that looked amazing, but since they contain pork, I had to sit those out. I'd love to see Chadol add a veggie dumpling option to the menu! As for the sides, the kimchi and cold glass noodles were both hits at our table, and of course we all added white rice. The "mashed potatoes" though? Definitely more like potato salad and unfortunately very bland. On the other hand, the cheese corn costs extra but is 1000% worth adding. For drinks, the guys enjoyed the Woody Old Fashioned while I had a mezcal margarita-style cocktail that was smoky and refreshing. We also ordered one of the chicken options but never received it and eventually just gave up on it. One of the coolest parts of the experience is the ordering system. Most meats are ordered directly from a machine at your table, and the food comes out quickly on this conveyor belt-style setup which was honestly so fun. Drinks and side dishes are ordered through the servers. The atmosphere was lively and energetic without feeling overwhelming. The restaurant is actually much larger inside than I expected, with a modern setup that works well for smaller groups. That said, I didn't really notice tables for larger parties, so I'm not sure how they accommodate groups bigger than 6 people. Service started off a little rough because our server wasn't very attentive, but after I called it out, he definitely stepped it up and things improved. Overall, Chadol was a really good experience and absolutely worth the price. The 1.5-hour seating limit makes sense too, both to keep things moving and give others a chance to enjoy the experience. I'd definitely go back!

The database is hard to navigate and a great deal of the songs don't come with lyrics so that was a bummer. Also they don't display the song when you're singing, sometimes it would be random figures on the screen so that was different. My friend ordered skewers, wings and fries and that was fairly solid so I don't have much input there. The bathroom was disgusting. Water leaking all over the floor and trash cans overflowing.
