They did a great job, but the overall experience was underwhelming. * Looks and feels like a tourist trap in Cancun. * It's extremely loud and for some reason at around 6 PM they cranked up the mariachi, which made the trap seem to close in. * Margaritas were cheap for Ashburn at $5 but watery at best. * There's a traveling olive bar with a tip jar on it! * Ordered some queso. Mexican food tastes like it was cooked in a Pennsylvania Dutch style. Bland and uninspired menu. Service at the new location still not working well. I waited tables through college so I keep an eye on service times. We were seated immediately - arriving at 5:45 on a Saturday - and had chips, salsa and drinks within the first 10 mins. Our waiter was prompt. That was probably the best part of the meal. We ordered some queso while we looked over the menu. 5 mins later we placed our entree order. At 6:20 the queso still had not arrived. The food runner came over and tried to give us other people's orders. The waiter came back and saw that the queso was still not on the table and went off to find it. The queso was so bland and uninspired. They must have been going for Queso Blanco but it was a huge fail. More like Alabama bbq sauce. If you hadn't told me it was queso I would have thought it was Mexican crema. The food runner brought half our food order at 6:25 - enchiladas and kids taco. The tamales we ordered were a no show. 8 mins later the waiter came by and saw that we were missing half our food and went to find the tamales orders. They arrived on plates sizzling hot. The food was terrible. I lived in Texas and worked for a long time in Arizona. I know my Tex-Mex, New-Mexican and border style foods. This was Mexican food cooked without an understanding of spices, textures or flavors. Over cooked chicken in the tamales. Tamales that were shaped like bricks with the texture of play doh, enchiladas drowning in sauce to where you couldn't see the individual wrapped tortillas, wet and dripping ground beef without any complexity of flavors like it had been cooked 10 mins earlier. We didn't eat the tamales. We shared the other items we ordered. We didn't complain about the food. We ordered the fried ice cream dessert - which was pretty average. The picture on the menu shows it being garnished with fruit but it showed up just with a squirt of whipped cream. Our waiter very kindly comped one order of tamales. Our waiter was awesome, the food was good, and we loved the happy hour prices! A $5 frozen margarita got me toasted. Considering this is very close to home, I had really low expectations for this restaurant. Loudoun Station in general is filled with lackluster restaurants. I'm sorry to be so hard on them, but it's true. 3 places I have gone to have already closed down within about a year and the others I've had terrible food in. If this restaurant keeps giving the quality food, drinks and service I had tonight, I think it will bring life back to Loudoun Station. We were already talking about how excited we are to enjoy Happy Hour here and hang out at the bar. There are limited choices for bars in the area, so I'm really excited we might have found a place close to home. I understand they close early (10 pm) but I'm not in my 20s anymore so that's not a deal breaker! The rice was ON POINT, and the drinks, chips and guacamole were delicious. We got the chicken enchiladas and nachos and I have to say it tasted a lot better than uncle Julio's in One Loudoun. The pricing was about the same and the service was excellent. We did curbside pick up. The biggest thing I noticed was that the food tasted fresher and had better flavoring and the nachos were not greasy. They gave us two types of red sauces one medium spicy and one very hot, both were delicious Update 12/19 ordered two main meals and they gave one small container of hot sauce. When I asked for more they wanted to charge me 5.95for a larger bowl I opted on paying for two smaller ones at $1.25 each. Second trip to try this gem. First try hostess told us they are short staffed in kitchen and wait for food is an hour. We appreciated the heads up and went elsewhere. Today was a great day to try it out and what a disappointment!! We waited 15 minutes (having been told 5) to be seated. Place was very very very empty for a Friday night wasn't sure why the wait was so long. Once we sat down we ordered quac and was a further disappointment. Basically a smashed avocado soaked in salt. When I say soaked- I mean soaked. It was accompanied by 10 chips. Another server came by 10 mins later and asked if we had been given chips and salsa. NOPE! At this time the table next to us gets up and leave as they still hadn't been acknowledged even after being seated right after us. Another 10 mins and we get some chips and horrible salsa. Another 10 minutes, then another 10 minutes, another 10 minutes and (get ready- it's a real good one) the server asks us if HE had taken our order... dude!! Restaurant is empty, u only person in this section... what manner of question is that? Well it gets super better... he said that the kitchen folk lost our order he brought us a menu to re-order... I want to give a second try today. Since, it was a friend's birthday and when he gave me the name of the restaurant I couldn't cancelled it. I went once before to Señor Tequila the food was so bad and overpriced I really didnt want to go back there. But, I wanted to celebrate my fruend's birthday so I went with the best intentions to enjoy the afternoon and kept my previous bad experience for me only. ok, so today it is Friday of lent, so because of my religion, I do not eat meat so I order a seafood chimichanga. when they brought the plate I started to eat the sides the beans, rice and salad when I cut the chimichanga, it wasn't seafood as I ordered it. It was all meat, I called the waitress many times but she was busy, I was so hungry I ate all the sides and left the chimichanga. When she came to our table and I explained about "their" mistake she said it was a mistake at the kitchen because she placed the order correctly, regardless I wanted my seafood chimichanga, she called the "manager" who said since I ate all the rice and beans I had to pay 50% of the new plate was coming, even when I didnt eat the " meat chimichanga" , I think this was not only bad customer service but so unrespectful, that they made the mistake and I have to pay for it. I was really underwhelmed by my visit to Senor Tequila's. The whole place had a general feeling like nobody really knew what was going on. The dining area (especially the tiny booths) was cramped and the staff seemed stretched thin. The chips were unremarkable and the salsa bland. It mostly tasted like barely seasoned tomato sauce. My wife's margarita arrived with no salt and was nothing special. The guacamole (if it can really be called that) was no more than mashed avocado. No seasoning. No onion. No chilies. Nothing. To be fair, we got the cheaper, standard guac and not the much more expensive tableside version. Maybe the regular guac is supposed to just be unseasoned mashed avocado, but I doubt it. The entrees were slow in coming out and had clearly been sitting around a while. The girls' enchiladas were dried out with an actual line on the plate where much of the sauce had dried up as it sat under a heater. My mom's one cheese enchilada was filled with a solid mass of either unheated cheese, or cheese that had cooled completely. Her taco was just dried out beef and lettuce. my wife's enchiladas seemed somewhat better. My chimichanga was soggy and had been sitting on a plate at a tilt for so long that the "famous cheese sauce" had all run to the far corner of the plate, disintegrating the little shell bowl holding the beans. My daughter's 2 small chicken fingers were overcooked almost to the point I'd have sent them back. her fries were practically raw. This place markets itself as an upscale Mexican restaurant and bar. The prices certainly match that, but the service and food do not. read more

I could go on about it but let's talk comida! The food is authentic and thoughtful. I'm Cuban, I have always distinguished for others that "Mexican food is about SPICY and Cuban is about SPICE", well I can tell you that I have been wrong. At this restaurant, even my white-girl bestie was willing to just pick up her taco al pastor and eat it without picking off the pickled onions and chilies, and she just looked at me with this huge grin and a mouthful and said "WOW!" The Baja tacos were so flavorful, the sweetness of slaw and the heat of the chilies, I couldn't decide whether it was dinner or dessert! The breaded fish tasted like a hint of crust, but great fish texture and flavor. I have had them in Mexico, in California, Texas and these could kick their ass. I'm sorry but it isn't anywhere near the 4 star reviews that lured us in. It is located in a very convenient location next to the theater. When we arrived inside there were several groups waiting to be helped and I didn't understand why when there were a few staff members standing around. We waited over an hour to get our food and we arrived at the beginning of dinner service. As I write this I'm giving them the benefit of the doubt and rounding up their review from 1.5 to 2 stars. We walked in and were not greeted within an appropriate time frame. When we finally were we were told that we could not be seated for about 30 minutes because the kitchen was backed up. No more than 2.5-3 stars for me. The service was ok, very slow and our server had no personality. When we first placed our drink orders we got bar drinks and the queso and guac cups. It took a good 10-15 min for any is this to get to the table. They only have 1 size margarita and it was quite small. We both had frozen margaritas, while they were strong they were very watered down and very sugary. The chips were extremely salty and the cheese and guac was just ok. I ordered a ground beef taco salad and hubby ordered the the chicken, steak and shrimp fajita. The fajitas came to the table smoking hot as expected. When he ordered He asked for extra tortillas and sour cream neither of those came with his meal. All in all he did like the fajita though. However my taco salad was very bland and just had no flavor at all. The taco shell was very soggy and not crunchy. Would not order again. The restaurant was very very loud the same song / music sounds kept playing on repeat the entire time and it just was not an enjoyable experience. Stopped here to eat last weekend before we saw a movie nearby. I was craving Mexican and this place looked fun. First I was absolutely delighted with the $5 margarita specials! Of course I got one and man they did not hold back on the alcohol! Yay! The portions were huge and the food was filling and amazing! The waitstaff is so attentive and they are so genuine. My husband and I ordered food on Uber Eats tonight and we couldn't be happier... the food was delicious, but on top of that, they provided us with 5 small containers with onions, cilantro, two different salsas and a bag of nachos (We didnt ask for, or expected that). A solid four plus stars, at least for the food we ordered. My wife had the fajita salad and it was loaded with tender delicious beef. I had the molcajetes Mexicano which was a huge hot sizzling lava stone bowl filled with three kinds of meat onions peppers and topped with a big splayed jalapeño. Served with rice and refried beans and tortillas. I was able to eat less than half of it although the $5 22 oz happy hour beers may have filled me up a bit too much. I had pretty low expectations going in but was very pleasantly surprised. Mexican restaurants to me are all very similar but this one seemed to be a little different (for the better) and the food was great. The one thing that really bothered me is that the drink menu has no prices. Our waiter Solomon was very jovial, checked in on us regularly and was quick to serve. read more

We placed a takeout order for seven people which included a few modifications to the dishes ordered. Specifically a request for no cucumber or onions in a salad and three requests for no cheese on dishes due to one allergy and two dietary preferences. The woman taking my phone order repeated the order back to me correctly. Upon arriving home we found every single dish prepared exactly as listed on the menu with every single request ignored. I reached out to the restaurant and got no response. We will not order from here again. The bill was almost $180 and three dishes were covered and/or filled with cheese and could not be eaten. A restaurant has the right to refuse special requests but if they are taken and accepted in the order there is no excuse for not honoring them. In this instance 100% were ignored. read more

My family and I have been eating at this restaurant since it opened up. We usually have dinner before going to the movies and always enjoyed the atmosphere, service and food. We even supported the restaurant during the pandemic by ordering out often. Our last visit a couple of weeks ago was however a total disappointment. 4 of us went there for dinner. First of all, after 2 baskets of chips we were told that the third would cost $6. Then the food was late and the fourth dish came 10 minutes after the other 3. My daughter ordered loaded nachos and they came with no beans. We complained and they brought a side dish with refried beans. My son's and my dish come with rice and beans. The rice was flattened out on the dish so there is a one rice high layer. At about $16 per dish, this is not good policy. I recommend going to Del Rio in Leesburg, Chui's or Los Tios Grill. We will not be coming back to Senor Tequila's. read more

Been here twice this month. Sarai was our server both times. Personable and attentive. Food is consistently delicious. My wife enjoys the Steak Taco Salad with well seasoned meat and a flaky shell. I enjoy the Mexican Jambalaya with steak, chicken, chorizo and shrimp. Beautifully flavored with enough to take home for a bite later. Some of the waitstaff seem to be new to the industry, so it takes a couple reminders for chips/drinks/bill - but as a new restaurant, I can give some leeway. My family and I recently discovered this gem. We had a delicious affordable, quaint, and delicious Mexican lunch. My teen d ordered the steak fajitas off the kids menu for $6.50 and the quality was great. Hers tasted as good as my steak fajitas which were around $18. We also ordered the $13 table side guacamole, which was a generous amount of flavorful and creamy guacamole prepared right in front of us. The chicken fajitas were also delicious and perfectly seasoned too. The salsa was fresh, and one of the best I've ever had. Service was speedy and professional. Great margs and service!! My boyfriend and I come here for happy hour during the week and on Saturdays because of the great margs and lovely service! Plus the salsa and chips are awesome! We always sit at the same spot in the bar, it's our spot Everyone knows us there and is so friendly! The manager Mario is sooo nice and so friendly! He always makes time to come and chat with us for a few. Leo, the bartender is awesome! He's very quick and welcoming. Their happy hour goes until 7pm and their margs are so good!! The have frozen mango, frozen strawberry and lime on the rocks. Ask for the swirl which is mango and strawberry, it looks so cool and tastes so good!! Ask for Norma as your server if you're not eating at the bar, she's so sweet and is great at her job! The food is good too. Their tortillas they make in house are to DIE FOR. So fresh and sooo good! We've been visiting Senor Tequila's for over a year and have good experiences pretty much every time. Sometimes the service is very quick and the food comes right out, sometimes it does take a little bit depending on how busy they are. The staff is always friendly. The frozen margs are always delicious and my personal favorite here is the birria tacos or birria quesadillas. I've ordered all of the burritos and the garden quesadillas as well and would also recommend those dishes. read more
