The food here and downtown is always amazing! The service is lack luster from time to time. I love so many of their items, just don't order a steak. It's not really in their wheelhouse. The steak was just ok, but everything else I've tried has been fantastic. Hot dogs, elevated poutine with braised short ribs, drinks and several diff menu items and apps have been top notch. The Blue Ash location is much larger and more relaxed than the Vine St location. They have an outdoor patio that is great when the weather is nice. I really enjoy the atmosphere here. I've probably been to Senate about 10 times in the past year. Love this place! My husband and I have practically had everything on the menu. Some of our favorites are the burger (one of the best in town), duck fat fries, poke bowl (this is to die for), and the hot chicken sandwich. Great drink selection too! Senate is 4.5 stars in my eyes but yelp won't let me give a half star. I would love to see Senate add new food items to the menu from time to time besides just the hot dog of the day. I also think that their appetizers could be a bit larger portions. When you are with a group of more than 2 people it is hard to feel satisfied with the appetizers. If you haven't been yet, YOU MUST GO! They don't take reservations (that I'm aware of) but we have never had to wait. read more

A great location let down by terrible service and mediocre, overpriced food. A hour wait would have been unacceptable except that the weather was perfect. You'll share your table with strangers in this open-air yet very noisy restaurant. If you aren't a fan of the craft beers they have on tap, your only other option is canned beer--bottled beer is not offered. On a busy Friday night it was disappointing but not inexcusable to learn they were out of what I had ordered. The offered menu isn't very large and, apparently, you cannot get anything tailored to your preference. The waiter didn't bother to ask me how I prefer my $12 burger and managed to forget my side item despite my asking three times. The fact that there is no customization of their limited menu made it all the more surprising and disappointing that they could not serve our family of three on time. It's always awkward when some people in your party have been served their entree and others haven't. Especially after 25 minutes. The Senate is apparently known for their hotdogs but it's unclear why. They're all beef but seem to be lacking any other characteristic. They're not grilled or cooked in any special way, rather seem to be boiled. As near as I can tell the children's hot dog is identical to the adult's hotdog. You'd think that a hot dog place in a town known for German food would offer a variety of mustards from which to choose but all they have is a generic yellow in bulk packaging. We took a good look around because we won't be coming back. Stop by Kroger's and pick up a pack of Nathan's & save yourself $40. If you require the ambiance of the Senate tune four different news stations in at once and give each of your diners their bland hot dogs at fifteen minute intervals. read more

I really wanted to like this place but I wasn't too excited about it. $11 hot dogs and $7 glasses of beer wasn't really exciting when it's a couple dollars cheaper next door at Tahona. Loved the ambiance here and will definitely be back. Summit Park is beautiful already and its not even half done. Its a great spot to spend sometime outdoors and get great food. We sat on the patio and were able to bring our dog. The service was excellent and the decor was memorable. I enjoyed the bahn mi sandwich. I had recently had the most amazing poutine in Nashville, so though I enjoyed the poutine here it wasn't as good. The hot dogs are beef only unless you want the vegan option which can be substituted for two of the options. But the menu was big enough to accommodate people who don't eat beef. There are not that many pure vegetarian options though. This a great choice for a tasty meal and a walk in the beautiful park. A meal here is a bit on the pricey side for sandwiches and hot dogs, on average entree is $12 and then another $6 for fries. Expect to spend at least $20 per person for your meal. read more

I have been to the Senate OTR many times. Tried the Blue Ash location on Thursday 6/15. Had to say a little surprised. Excellent dogs as usual and our waitress Paige was very helpful and attentive. having said that, very surprised how they treated one of my guests. He wanted the Gyro but no Tzatziki sauce and and tomatoes. Plus add cheese He was told by the waitress they normally would not do that but would ask the kitchen. Well guess what, yes they could hold the tomatoes but would not serve it without the Tzatziki sauce on it and would not add cheese.. So my friend declined that offer. We were very surprised how un accommodating they were to a customers request. Seemed pretty simple to me. Put the sauce in a cup on the side (instead of that laborious act of pouring over the Gyro) and put some cheese in a bowl. We work in Blue Ash and it left a bad taste in our mouths sorry to say. read more

This is a very cool location in blue Ash. I sat at the bar and the bartender couldn't have been more helpful. I had the ribeye, bourbon, and the frosted caramel. I should have had one of the hot dogs as they looked great versus the rib eye. Awesome bourbon selection. Will definitely come back. read more

This restaurant is an example of trying to rely on reputation rather than taste. My wife and I had lunch here and one would believe that given the amount of the bill this would have been a memorable meal. Far from that to be honest. If a restaurant chooses to put hot dogs on their menu and charge $11+ with no side, it better be an awesome dog. There was no flavor, tasteless coleslaw the bacon was missing very few potato chips and the hot dog was over cooked, yum. That was my wife's meal, I had the gyro and once again it was missing onion and tomato with minimal flavor. The duck fries tasted plain, definitely not worth $6. Just a word of advice, save your money, there are way to many other choices, especially for mediocre food. read more

The bartender, a girl who did not seem busy at all, walked by and threw the receipt at me in passing. She did not ask if I needed anything or place it nicely on the counter but threw it in my direction and continued to walk away. She did not offer any help at all and was completely rude!!! The food was fine but NOT worth the terrible customer service I experienced here. I will never go back to this place. She did not apologize or seem to care about the customer at all. Could not be more disappointed since I was very excited to try this place in Summit Park. They did a great job with the construction and it is beautiful inside. It is very spacious and they have a great outside bar and seating area. Food: 22.5/25 Excellent hot dogs, French Fries and falafel tacos. Very unique hot dogs, with light, fluffy buns. The Trailer Park hot dog I had (without coleslaw) was excellent. The Chef somehow managed to make American cheese fit into something delicious! Appearance/Atmosphere: 9.5/10 Amazing appearance all around, with smooth woodwork complemented nicely by gold trims and black cushions. I especially liked decorative cement blocks that flow into the private room. Service/Wait: 7/10 Average service, not much to say here. With our party of five, it took them a little bit longer to find a seat for us. The food came out very quickly, though, which was a nice surprise. Value: 4/5 Expensive, but it was worth the delicious food and the sheer quantity. Total: 43/50 A solid four of five stars. Senate OTR is great. Senate Blue Ash is also great. You should try the Korean. Their hotdogs are huge, slightly intimidating, and pricey; they're also crazy good. The trailer park has Grippo's chips crushed onto it. The Korean has kimchi and ribs. The fries are great, but you don't really need them. The hotdog is enough. read more

Great add to folks who are in the suburbs ! Came here for late dinner with hubby and fairly enjoy the refreshing seating that's much less crowded than OTR location. Decor is super hip and trendy! I was in love with the ambience;) seated quickly inside and it felt super cold so we asked to be seated outside. Besides caution of eaten by misquotes，we were yet to surprised by ambience as sunsets with great lights up from us. Our server was great and quickly got our orders. The poutine was amazing with pull pork and cheese. Hubby got the hotdog with Korean flavors and I got the stable- mussels. The flavors was a bit different than the one I had in downtown. But it was still good and I enjoy how fresh the mussel was! Would come back again for date night! They should expand more outdoor seating and turn up the tempt inside! read more

Some Yum, a great location, and great staff make for the perfect trifecta at the newest Senate location. I was lucky enough on this gorgeous day that I stopped in, to stumble upon their daily hotdog special, the "Holly Madison", a crab rangoon style dog. I am a crab rangoon snob, so I was very excited for this. The chefs sure hit this out of the park, delicious. Wish it was a part of the regular menu, but part of the fun of Senate is trying out their different daily dog specials. Its almost hard to call this a hot dog because it is misleading. This dog is an entree in itself, and pictures truly dont do justice to the size of these creations. Add on the amazing duck fat fries with the crispy rosemary on top and perfect dipping sauce and its a homerun. I highly recommend sitting out on the patio, which has a nice relaxing vibe. There is even a small bar out there! The inside is very nice too, for the cooler months ahead. Busy or slow times of day, the service here is great. I think about 6 different people asked me how my meal was and if I needed anything. Silly added bonus, is the cool bottles they bring the water for the table out in! Still have yet to make it here for brunch, which I look forward to doing in the future! read more

This place was so accommodating. We came in town for a baseball tournament and wanted something unique. I called a few days in advance for reservations and ended up changing the number in our party 2-3 times due to game schedules changing. Kaytlyn the GM was very helpful and more than willing to help. The menu has some very creative hotdog as well as other items. Very large draft beer selection as well! We ended the night with a whiffle ball tourney in the park! I started working in Blue Ash and found that there are limited selections for a food lunch until I came to Summit Park. This location of the Senate is better than the OTR in my opinion! I had been trying to go to Senate in OTR for what seems like forever. Whenever I was in the area it just happened to be on the day they're closed. I was elated when the Blue Ash location opened up. The menu has so many of my favorites and I'd been craving a gourmet hot dog for way too long. I'm not sure if I built it up in my head, but it definitely didn't meet my expectations. We ordered the korean hot dog and the trailer park hot dog. The kimchi on the korean hot dog fell flat and the short rib didn't have much flavor. I love the idea of the Grippos on the trailer park hot dog, but nothing else on it really did anything for me. The coleslaw topping the trailer park hot dog was more like mayo with some bits of slaw in it. The American cheese wasn't melted. The hot dog itself didn't seem like anything of any higher quality than I'd get at the grocery store. I've dinned at a few other gourmet hot dog establishments and they seemed to elevate the hot dog, this just felt like a bunch of stuff on a hot dog. The truffle fries were good though. The atmosphere is really cool. We sat outside in community seating looking out at the park. They do that trendy thing where they bring your water out in a hipster glass (like an old whisky bottle) and then you pour it into your smaller glass. It's a thing now. read more

This location is close to my office so I've went once for a bite to eat and drink after work and again for lunch with some coworkers. The menu is pretty limited (IMO) with not a lot of choices. At dinner, I got the gyro and the lobster mac n cheese. I wasn't that impressed with either to be honest. At lunch I got the dog of the day (a chili dog) and the truffle fries - $20.80 - for lunch, not including tip. I'm not sure what all the hype is, but $13 for a hot dog and $7 for some fries seems a little steep. With all the other options in the area, this would be at the bottom of the list as far as value/quality of food for the money spent. read more

We came here after a Halloween event with a pretty large group. It was mixed adults and mixed young children. I will tell you upfront even though this place is in a park it seems more focused to children. The food was good but it was pretty fancy for what it was. I ordered ribeye and it came with fries and some may dip. The ribeye was good and cook just right the fries where good but I wasn't a fan of the sauce for the fries for some reason I thought it was cheese at first. My wife got the ribeye and she liked hers. My boys both liked the hot dogs and fries. I search for, and call to confirm, if the restaurant is/has a Dog Friendly section. We (Jack and I) we're greeted immediately upon coming into the patio. Two bottles of water were brought with a dog bowel and a glass. Jack was provided water, and so was I. In ordering lunch, I asked if they could cook a plain Hamburg, no problem. I ordered the Gyro. The plain hamburger was brought out with several napkins, and in letting it cool, was able to absorb some of the fat. Jack enjoyed his burger, my Gyro was delicious, almost too much food.
