Blackened salmon, greens, and Mac n cheese

It wasn't about the food. It was about the vibe and drinks. Selida was. Great bartender. She kept the libations going. Music is customer choice. On my second visit, I had the salmon salad. It was great! I'd definitely order it again. Dominique was a wonderful server. There was also a live band playing later in the evening. It is for a mature crowd. It's a nice spot for after work or the weekend.

We always drove past this place but never went to. So we decided to try it. The waitress was very nice and prompt. A nice menu with a different menu selection I have not seen in awhile. No RED meat. I got the turkey chop grilled and it was very good. Now the reason I gave 4 out of 5. Greasy very greasy mozzarella sticks and also my wife's fish was very greasy. And service took very long. So do if you want enjoy.

This review is for the management and I hope you read this and actually listen to the feedback. First, I always try to support black establishments and this was my second time visiting here. I was reluctant to come back after the first time, but again trying to support black owned businesses. First the positives, the food is actually good. I had the whiting dinner with mac&cheese, collard greens and string beans. Very nicely seasoned and food came out hot. The service on these two occasions was inconsistent. The young bartender although inexperienced, made some great drinks and was extremely nice. Now the areas of opportunity. Why does it seem like for some black owned businesses, you have to lower your standards and expectations? For starters, the outside entrance to the restaurant needs serious work. No curb appeal at all and it makes you want to think twice about actually going inside. You are greeted with a dirty exterior and doors with faded paint. Then as enter in the hallway, you are greeted with dirty carpet and a leaking ceiling. As you venture into the bar area, there are dirty floors, faded wood floors and booths with the majority the the vinyl missing. Walls are dirty with peeling paint and dirty ceiling. Not sure why we stayed because it made me wonder about the cleanliness of the kitchen, but again trying to support a black owned business. I'm regretting my decision now. Then there's the music playing. Raunchy rap music which I can tolerate some time, but it was even too vulgar for my taste. Just not appropriate at all, unless you simply do not care about a diverse clientele. There where vulgar women have dressed dancing around provocatively, smoking vapors and obviously over intoxicated...despite the young bartenders continuing to serve them more drinks. Again I ask why do we have to lower our standards and expectations when supporting some black owned business? Some basic maintenance can do wonders, but it seems like the owners do not care because as long as some customers will accept this, why do they have too. Maybe they are simply catering to a certain group? That's probably why they had the limited customers. I have to say I prayed that I do not get food poisoning, but I will not be returning back. I simply can't look pass the obvious!

I went for an alumni event. It was a bad weather day and the lot was not cleared so very unsafe and slippery. Got it and it wasn't too crowded at the time. The music was playing. My group was in a side area away from the bar. We sat for awhile and a waitress eventually came and did drink orders (it was the second round as I was late). I was interested in ordering food, so eventually she came back to take our food order. I initially ordered chicken and waffles and had a Shirley Temple to drink. After someone else got something like spring rolls, I ordered them too. The chicken and waffles came out first and were actually good. I started on that dish as the service was very slow. There appeared to be two women working and a manger. One of the women appeared to be an assistant. She was the one assisting us. She was friendly and tried to be helpful she just needed more help that night. She was going between our areas and the main bar. Once I had to walk over to get her to return to our area. The rolls, I got to go. They were very good. Overall it was a good experience. The service was extremely slow but it was due to number of staff present at the time. The food that I had was great and I'd definitely try other menu items. A friend had the salad and really enjoyed it. I will probably try to go again on a really slow night so that I can get the attention and food quality I deserve.

The salmon croquette and Whiting fish with fries. The sauce they use is spicy but really good.

This is probably my new favorite spot for fried fish now. Came here for spoken word night that they have every Thursday and was very impressed. This place does not serve any red meat so definitely a good spot if you are a vegetarian or vegan or you just do not eat with me. When I went I ordered the salmon croquette and the whiting fish with fries. If you do not do spicy do not order the salmon croquette because it definitely was spicy. However oh, they were super good. I have never had salmon croquette like how they made it. Also the fish and fries were crispy hot and fresh not spicy either. This venue (which is very nice inside) also has different events going on almost every day of the week so definitely something to check out to do once the weather gets warmer and even now. Can't wait to go back and try the rest of the menu. P.s. they make tasty Amaretto sours drinks.

Excellent food and great service, just need some work on their atmosphere to take it to the next level. I went with a co-worker to grab some lunch, and we decided to try this place out as no-one really had mentioned it at the office yet, and we were curious. It's hidden behind a few different businesses, and you have to turn into the Shell driveway to get into the parking lot, so keep an eye open or it's very easy to miss. The front of the building, while looking new, had no lights or anything to indicate the business was open. However, we tried the doors and we walked right in to the warm greeting from the wait-staff, as well as a large sign welcoming us and inviting us to seat ourselves wherever. The restaurant is very large inside, however it felt a little vacant, especially considering an entire area of the restaurant seemed like it was cut-off. It was also eerily quiet, which I believe to be the fault of not playing music, even though there was a jukebox on the wall. We received menus, which seemed to have a nice variety of food to choose from. The waitress recommended the chicken and waffles as well as the fish, and we both went with the fish. We looked around at the building while waiting for our food, and we overheard another table talking to their waiter about the fact they have live music on weekends and they have a Karaoke night on Sundays, which sound like would be really fun if you lived nearby. Their bar looks very nice, if maybe a tiny bit sparse. Good selection of alcohol however, especially compared to other places in the area. They also mentioned a happy hour with $3 Long Island Iced Teas which made me wish our work did more happy hours outside of the office, haha Our food was brought out, and it looked and smelled amazing. We each got 3-4 very large pieces of fried fish on a bed of fries that had a pepper, Parmesan, and (maybe) garlic seasoning on them. The breading was super crispy and thick, and the tartar sauce that accompanied them was by far the best tartar sauce I've ever had. The fish was also perfectly cooked, and flaky. I joked that my coworker and I could have just split an order, as we were only able to finish half of our meal, and we both had a dinner for later. For the price and quality of food, we were more than satisfied with our meal. My biggest recommendation for Park Place is to have some music going even during lunch time and maybe have some lights or indications that the restaurant is open from the street / outside. I would definitely come back, but I would feel awkward bringing a larger group here for lunch currently as conversation carries easily in the restaurant without music. I am curious though to see how different the restaurant is at dinner with their happy hour!

Quite a bit of food for the price, I had to take the rest home for a later snack. There were a lot of fries and they were very tasty. The turkey burger was topped with provolone cheese, grilled onion, tomato, and a house mayo called Park Place mayo. The burger was very tasty as well. The next time I will come a lot more hungry.

There is a small parking lot plus street parking available. One interesting thing is the numerous old photos of Hamilton hanging on the walls. There is even one of the building back in the day! We ordered an Anna's pretzel with beer cheese and horse cheese as an appetizer. It was one of the best soft pretzels I've eaten! Large, warm and the 2 dipping sauces made a great accompaniment. We ordered a Reuben and fish and chips also. They were yummy as well. The bar tender/waitress was very attentive and pleasant. The prices are very moderate. I noticed they even offered lunch specials. I definitely plan on visiting again.

The waitress seemed helpful enough, though, as there's weren't many customers this early in the evening, she was too busy watching the Winter Olympics to give me more than the cursory attention needed to bring my food out and take my payment. But the food definitely made up for that. This is made-from-scratch creativity at its finest. I got the Reuben's Stones, expecting a fried fritter, but got a delicate, made-like-my-mamma-would pastry instead. It was soft and doughy inside, and jam-packed with corned beef. The fish in the fish and chips was huge, hot, and right out of the fryer. And the fries had to be made from scratch, because I've never seen that particular shape come out of a freezer bag: they looked cut naturally from the round, and were also hot and tasty. And the warm butter cake was as amazing as everyone said. Actually it's this small squat cake that looks like a muffin -- until you cut into it and realize it's soaked in syrup inside & absolutely delicious. The only disappointment were the green beans --- they were overcooked and mushy -- though maybe that's how English green beans are authentically cooked. Overall, though, my visit was a real adventure filled with authentic and delicious surprises. I will definitely be back to try more.
