    Spring in her Safe Space

Thank you, Darren and Sally for your guidance and therapy sessions! Lol Spring is an amazing dog and with counseling, she ignores and more gentle when approaching the cats. No accidents in the house for 24hrs! She's adjusting perfectly. I lost my dear old furbaby in a horrible car accident. I had been searching for a new ESA and through a friend, directed me to Sen Rescue Sanctuary. I had done my research on adopting a Korean Meat Market rescue, Jindo mix, and found that it's a little intimidating. I wanted a dog that had been fostered or a rescue that can direct me for a pup that would do well with my non-scared of dogs, cats. I didn't want my cats to feel unsafe around a new pup or have dire consequences. After talking with Sally, being honest with my fears and grief, ready for her to tell me it wouldn't be a good fit. Relying on her and Darren's expertise, she helped me find the perfect pup. She's always available for counseling and no doubt, as she said, nip undesirable behavior in the butt. I personally love the help, offering our family with support through this transition, especially for my little Spring. I've owned dogs for many years, but this has been enlightening, creating a wonderful space for both us and Spring. Yes, Sally is particular about her adopters. Yes, they have seen the atrocities and determined to ensure these pups don't experience anything like that again. That's something I can 100% be amenable to and respect. Every single advice she gives is for a reason and from experience, which has worked for us. It's a privilege and honor to be Spring's humans and it's because of the care and love this rescue offers.

    Suni

SeN Rescue Sanctuary does amazing work!! On 5/2021 I adopted Suni, an 8 month old Jindo mix puppy. As a rescue from the South Korean dog meat farms, Suni had trust issues. But Sally guided me all the way. Sally has immense knowledge on Jindos. 1.5 months later, Suni has flourished into an amazing dog!! I never knew about the Jindo breed prior to talking to Sally...let me just say, there is no breed like it. Suni is amazing. She learns by watching what I do. I taught her to get onto logs, agility table tops, A-frames, etc...well, traditional dog training techniques didn't work. Until I climbed up onto a log and she followed...I climbed up onto the table tops, she followed, I climbed the A-frame, and she followed... It's all about building trust... And like many others have said, I didn't even have to house train her... she wasn't house trained, but this breed is so smart, they just know not to go in the house. Everyday Suni amazes me on how she learns and how loving she is... I previously had 3 Australian Shepherds... And as much as they taught and awed me, Suni is on a completely different level. I'm grateful for Sally and the selfless work she does to save these precious Jindo dogs from the cruel and torturous dog meat farms. Yes, Sally is very strict about her adoptions. Wouldn't you? Sally gives these dogs a once in a lifetime chance at a new loving life and she needs to make sure she places each and every dog in a caring, nurturing, and safe forever home... Jindos bond for life... So Sally needs to make sure the adoptive family will be a forever home... Suni is an amazing dog, companion, and family member. I will forever be thankful to Sally for introducing me to Jindos. I wish I could adopt 3 more from Sally... these dogs are that wonderful.

We adopted Jinx (Jindo) and Judo (shih tzu mix) and I ADORE both of them so much. They so much joy and love into our lives that I cannot imagine life without either of them. What Sally and SEn Sanctuary does is heartwarming, selfless and she is the voice that that these dogs SO need! The world needs more people in it like Sally, who has a huge loving heart and I will always continue support her and her Sanctuary. Kirstin Pavalunas, Dan Porter, Jinx & Judo

This is a firm warning. Stay away from here. Do not adopt from here. Sally is not trustworthy, and absolutely needs to be shut down. Let me tell you a little about our story- We adopted Ellie (Dori-previous name) from Sally on August 30th, 2018. She's a beautiful white Korean Jindo "saved" from a meat farm in Korea. She comes with all her shots or so we were told. We noticed Ellie, and another puppy was coughing. Sally reassures is it was just "puppy hiccups". It was not. This is what starts our treacherous journey on to get Ellie well. Apparently Ellie was supposed to get the Bordetella or kennel cough shot before she arrived in the United States. If this was true, she wouldn't be suffering and fighting for her life because she now has Bordetella/ Consolidated Pneumonia in her left lung lobe, as well as Mycoplasma. We have done multiple tests to make sure she is on the right antibiotic and the infection has been cultured for its effectiveness. We have put a lot of time and money to make we give Ellie the best chance. She's been on antibiotics for about a month which is how long we have had her. They are not seeing signs of the consolidation clearing up. Which means we may have to consider surgery. An extremely expensive surgery that we won't be able to afford. One that will alter her life forever. So we now have a choice, do the surgery which may not even heal her, or let her live the rest of her life as long as that may be. Can you fathom putting down a 6 month old puppy? I can't. I cry every night at the mere thought of it. If Sally had given her the PROPER care beforehand, Ellie and us may not have had to go through this impossible decision. So I tell you. Don't take the chance. Do not adopt from her or her establishment. She may seem legitimate but she is not. All you could end up with is a lot of heartbreak.

Smelled like urine, so not sure if they get taken outside to potty. The only down side my husband and i had was my dog is definetly not mix chihuahua, but i can understand that when they are all so tiny they all look mix chihuahua. We were told she wouldnt shed at all(which i had told my husband that breed sheds a lot anyways), and last but least my dog would NOT potty train outside what so ever until she was pretty much 6months and would occasionally do it a few months after. I would take her out but she would still pee and poop every day as a pup in her blankets so i sadly i couldnt sleep with her as a baby. I wasnt sure if this was because at her old home (furever home) they were all just allowed to pee where they slept so that's all she knew and brought that bad habit over to us. But either way we love our katie and shes grown up to be such a beautiful and wonderl dog.

We'll never know why because he's adorable, but our little Jack Russell-chihuahua mix had been there for a year. They continue to be great members of our family! I have read the reviews here, read the story from the Olympian, and read the comments. Visiting Furever Homes is overwhelming. Its not a conventional shelter. I have had dogs my whole life. My family raised dogs for the Army, and, in the more than 2 hours we spent with the dogs at Furever Homes, we never saw any dangerous or unsanitary conditions. I am disturbed that folks are willing to gloss over the great work the the Gold family is doing because they don't like the smell of a messy dog kennel. The dogs don't care about the smell. The dogs are alive, safe, well fed, loved, and socialized in a pack (which makes them good doggy citizens out in the real world). Adopt a dog from Furever Homes - it's a great organization.

This is a depressed area with a lot of need but don't let that keep you away from adopting and volunteering yourself. The veterinary care when we adopted our two separate adult kitties in the past 3 years was very good. Animals were well-socialized and exercised--yes, even the cats. Our sweet Harry had been there for nearly a year (or more), formerly named Sonic. He was about 3 years old. This shelter doesn't put down their oldest and most unadoptable cats. There were some extremely aged cats (and probably dogs too), particularly a sweet lil Manx who was able to roam freely. It felt good to take Harry home and open up his world--but he would have had no world to enjoy at all at some shelters. A previous adoption at PAWS of GH was of a teen mommy who had been caring for her babies under a trailer. Just a slip of a thing but healthy, she was super ready to finally have her own childhood in our home. They have both been a joy and comfort--and got along like best friends immediately. Though the animals were not chipped by the shelter, regular veterinary exams were done, immunizations and flea treatments were done properly and there was an exit visit, flea treatment and claw clipping with the vet tech before we signed the papers and left with our new family members. There was also a built-in trial period. The facility is old but clean. Anything anybody could do to help, I'm sure, would be of high value. We will come back to adopt one day, but hopefully not too soon. Thank you, PAWS of Grays Harbor!
